Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

PenguinPoser Hope you've had some rest? Hugs!

Congrats fingerscrossed36 !! Flowers

No explaination for the babys lack of movement other than him being fully engaged, maybe the braxton hicks have knackered him out RL20 , they've been constant, almost a week now, like a rock. But they were happy with what they saw on the monitor and physical exam, even though i couldnt feel some of the movements they were getting. Im getting badgered by both sides of the family now cinnamongreyhound ive had another show, might have to keep my mouth shut - everyones hoping he'll just appear but even i know this could still be dragged out, so i'm not getting my hopes up just yet haha.

RiverRocks · 27/03/2015 10:31

Morning ladies.

Congratulations to Boo, stuntnun and fingerscrossed, and anyone else I have missed. It's hard to go back and check as I'm on my tablet. These babies are not hanging around! Hard to believe it was my due date yesterday and I already have a 2 week old Shock

Siarie, sounds like you don't have long to wait to meet your little one!

Good luck obelia Flowers

Sorry you're not having a great time at the minute daholster, but at least your DH is home for a bit. Even if you don't get breakfast in bed, I think you should go back when you get in and demand ice cream Grin

Ivegotacavetroll at this stage you need to be strict about what you can and can't do, and also what you do and do not want to do. Don't forget, you are now going to spend the next 18 few years pleasing someone else!

Good luck with the scan Squatting

Penguin do you have access to a local children's centre/sure start centre. They often have Breastfeeding peer support workers who will come out and spend proper time with you which the midwife etc don't have time to do. I think latch is our problem - he's on for ages, but still hungry when he comes off. Someone likened it to drinking vs drinking through a straw - you can get the same amount through a straw but it takes longer! And in the meantime, baby drops off to sleep Confused

Hidingthefear · 27/03/2015 10:34

woo woo, big congrats fingers

trying hard to relax but the people who bought next door seem to be ripping the house appart before they move tenants in.v It's winding the dog up too and in turn she's winding me up. growling at them drilling in the wall and banging, i'm sure they're gonna come through into my kitchen!!
gonna go do some retail therapy i think, I need a break from the house (and i'm only on day 2 of mat leave)
They better not still be att it when I go into labour because they will seriously ruin my quiet home birth!!!
I know next door is only minor, but i just needed a moan.
Oh and they put a skip at the back of our house so I can't park my car on the plot i pay for so it's at the front of the house instead. moan moan moan

oo siarie maybe things are beginning to make a move? if not, it's all a step in the right direction I suppose. I'm only 37+4 but i sometimes feel like i'm never going to give birth, and i'm gonna get to 42 weeks and all my lovely idealistic birth preparation will be out the window. Maybe it's just homestretch desperation for there to be some sign that baby will make n appearance.

RL20 · 27/03/2015 10:49

Hiding oh no! How long is their work expected to go on for?
I second the idea for retail therapy. I'm going to take a trip into town today - it's only about a 15/20 min drive but have asked my mum to join me, reasons being 1.) for company so we can grab something to eat, and 2.) what if I was to go into labour!Shock Reason 2 is just me being silly seeing as I'm only 36+4, but it's nice to have someone there if I start to feel a bit hot or icky, which I have been recently.
Seeing as other half is now away for the weekend, mum has asked if I want to nip to one of the local pubs with her tonight as it's the leaving do for one of the managers at work, (we both work in the same building).
So I feel like I need to get some sort of a nice top.

Morning RiverRocks, hope you and baby are doing well Smile

RiverRocks · 27/03/2015 11:29

We are, thank you RL.

Hard work but definitely worth it. I've never been much of a baby fan, but it's completely different now I have my own. DH keeps saying to me 'you can put him down, you know'. Yup, I knowGrin

TheBooMonster · 27/03/2015 11:38

The midwife has been and we're down to just 3% below birth weight, makes the pretty much constant attachment to my boob feel a bit more justified! She said she'd be back on day ten to tick the last of the boxes and sign us off...

roastpots · 27/03/2015 11:42

woohoo! well done boo!!

BananaToast · 27/03/2015 11:46

Congratulations fingerscrossed!

I am really struggling with SPD today. Walked to the tube this morning, sat down, and when I got up to get off at the other end I could have cried it was so painful. Hobbled like an old woman into my office and have been sat down ever since. Just got up for a wee and it was so painful walking the 10m or so from my desk to the toilet. I am more than ready to finish work now if it's going to be like this! Also definitely hoping baby makes an appearance sooner rather than later as I can't put up with this for another 5+ weeks!

36+4

smogsville · 27/03/2015 12:04

Yes StuntNun I am going to print your advice out too, thank you. It worked fine with DD but every baby different and it's not like I can remember anything anyway.

daholster you sound like you have a plan, good for you and well done on being so strong as ever! Hope you got the breakfast in bed. Or defo just to back to bed after the car appt.

Good luck for weigh in Penguin and nice work Boo.

Hiding do you mean your car parking that you pay for is compromised? Call the council, skip will have to be moved. They have to have a licence for a skip on the road which might be why they haven't put it there. Just being cheap.

River we never put DD down either!

When do you finish Banana?

StuntNun · 27/03/2015 12:29

That's just the way I've been feeding DS4. Strictly you're supposed to bring the baby to the breast but I find it easier to guide the nipple into the mouth at first as it can be tricky to get them to take a big mouthful of breast tissue when they're learning and still quite small. There are lots of other tricks that you can try such as holding them in the rugby ball position so they're at your side rather than in front of you. Feeding in a side lying position is brilliant for night feeds but it isn't the best way to establish breastfeeding as you don't have both hands free. My DS2 liked to feed with me lying back and him on top of me lying vertically which is a bit awkward but great if you have a fast letdown and the baby is choking a bit. If you're struggling to feed then ask for a breastpump and express a bit. If you're producing colostrum they only need about 7 ml for a full feed. My baby has been very sleepy so I was able to syringe a few feeds into him then work on breastfeeding when he was more alert. Nipple shields can be used as well if baby is struggling to latch since you can just shove the whole teat of the nipple shield into their mouth and they only need to suck without having a good technique. The risk there is that they still have to learn how to latch on but I exclusively breastfed my DS1 using nipple shields for four months so it isn't the end of the world if you do get stuck with them. There should be breastfeeding support groups near most people, failing that I would go to a slingmeet or cloth nappy group as the attachment parenting crowd will include a lot of breastfeeding mums.

hello ladies...so I've missed nearly 2 whole posts Shock i''m never going to catch up so starting again from here!

firstly massive congratulations to all of you who have had your beautiful babies (I've been keeping up on FB!) I will be the last one left at this rate, due 27th April and hoping bump stays put a few weeks longer...

So for those of you that remember...I went to the work trip to Germany (still here now!) not been too bad, I will be glad to get back home tonight though. have next week off work as we get the keys to our house and complete on Tuesday Grin so will have a busy week next week! Then only 4 days left in the office until my mat leave starts yay!!! looking forward to getting settled and getting everything set up in the new house as most stuff is still boxed in the spare room at the moment, which is worrying me with all these babies showing up!

hope everyone is feeling ok and mummy's and babies are getting there with the feeding and routines x

Great news Squatting Grin

Lauren82000 · 27/03/2015 15:28

That's excellent news Squatting.

Only 30 mins left of work before I go on Maternity Leave!!!!!

RL20 · 27/03/2015 15:35

Hi Squidge, I think I remember your story! Did you mention about a spa being at the hotel you were going to stay at?

Yay for baby turning squatting! Smile

Well mum commented today that it looked as though my bump had dropped Blush
Typical as other half has gone away for the weekend. Hopefully it doesn't mean anything though and baby stays put for a bit, as I'm only 36+4.
Went into Zara today hoping to get a top to wear for tonight. Turns out they had nothing I liked in a size L! Hmm
So I've ended up with a cardigan instead. Well I suppose it did save me some money...

cinnamongreyhound · 27/03/2015 16:02

Excellent news SquattingNeville!

Yay for maternity leave Lauren82000.

Is it me or has BrixtonBunny been quiet? Has all that painting brought on labour?

Hope things are going well Misty414 Smile

RL20 · 27/03/2015 16:11

Cinnamon I spoke to her on here yesterday but just looked back through the comments and she did say that her back was aching and she'd had some toilet episodes, so you could be right Shock hope she's ok.

Thanks for all ur comments re my self absorbed post last night.
Well I am now not going to the wedding because iv had what. Use be BHs on off all day- although iv been crying in pain with them so I must be a wimp.
Been told it may be the start of something but could be pre-labour which can last weeks.

I don't think my DH knows what to say or do!

Yay for all those stopping work- I can't believe iv been off for 8weeks! I certainly do not rock pregnancy like some of u far tougher specimens!

Can anyone tell me what a contraction actually feels like?

Siarie · 27/03/2015 16:34

Uhhh I don't feel good, it feels like something is wedged down there. I can hardly walk and have this achy dragging feeling. My backs killing, I feel like she might be coming soon either that or I'm dying.

One of those.
