Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Yes re the flight, I'm not worried at all much about baby. It's ds who will be 2 that will make the journey - ahem - challenging. Grin

Lauren82000 · 25/03/2015 21:56

Well I'm not sure if the relief that the handover is now done and the next 2 days at work are just me sat on a chair being a waste of space is prompting me to read more into things or if I'm genuinely having pre-labour signs. I was induced with DD so I have no idea what pre or early labour feels like. Confused I'll be sure to mention it tomorrow to the mw but I'm guessing she is just going to roll her eyes at me. Blush

Wineandchoccy · 25/03/2015 21:58

I've just won a labour tens machine on ebay for £10 so baby has to stay put until it arrives Grin

londonlivvy · 25/03/2015 22:01

smogs unfortunately we couldn't go to nz when dd was small as DH was doing his degree on top of work so no time. So now we do really kinda have to go. Dd is 2.5. Eek. But he's going back for his sister's wedding in June (fab timing. Not.) so perhaps that's us off the hook for a few more months. But thinking about it, perhaps this xmas would be better (3 year old plus 8 month old) rather than xmas after (4year old, but 18 month old...). Depends on whether dd2 decides to take after her sister and crawl at 8 months I guess. Much easier if she'll just stay put for a bit longer.

FiRaffe · 25/03/2015 22:17

Blimey, all this talk of long flights and i'm worried about the drive to Norfolk to see my parents! You're all braver than me!

Been a busy day catching up with the NCT ladies, but sorry not got to reply to everyone. Looking forward to mat leave to try and be able to keep up, although more likely to be asleep! Only a week to go tomorrow, bring on easter!

daholster · 25/03/2015 22:23

The pressure of my contractions in my bum is quite off putting, I swear I am going to crap myself!!! Not painful in the bump though and not at all regular, just bursts of them.

Yep they keep you guessing.

Lauren some people empty for a couple of weeks I believe because some of it is irritation from the baby moving down. Not just emptying at the start of labour?

smogsville · 25/03/2015 22:31

Banana I remember you saying now.

Underwood, london, there is a good chance that the journeys with toddlers will be horrendous, but worth it. Let's be honest. We're off to New Orleans in October and even though it's not nearly as far as NZ it does involve a full US style plane change including luggage off and on again etc. if DH and I are still married and both children not in the custody of the adoption agency by the time our friends collect us at NO I'll be amazed!

In other news I was feeling v ropey earlier but applied hot water bottle to lower back/ coccyx region and ate a thoroughly dirty solo supper of homemade tuna melt with loads of mayo and cheese followed by a creme egg and now feeling so much better. Hooray for cravings and giving into them.

This baby feels massive compared to last time even though am measuring right for dates (ahem, I don't eat tuna melts and creme eggs every day...). Will be v interested to hear what they say at tomorrow's growth scan.

daholster · 25/03/2015 22:32

Oh, that one came with a pain! Unreasonably excited since I know when I move it will all stop!

smogsville · 25/03/2015 22:49

But daholster are they real contractions as opposed to BHs?

daholster · 25/03/2015 22:58

Ummm don't think so cos one sided. But then last time I had 2 mornings of slightly painful contracting which I thought were BHs just ramping up and they settled, then on 3rd morning they didn't and got worse. Could be either I guess but its all pretty random at the mo and its still pretty early. And I have been particularly active today. We will see, I fully expect it to settle when I have done the bins (ugh) and get settled into bed!

daholster · 25/03/2015 22:59

I meant on the occasion I've had pain it's been one sided. The whole bump goes hard like my usual BH.

Maybe ask the consultant at my appt tomorrow afternoon!!!

daholster · 25/03/2015 23:00

But then the bum pressure is impressive when it happens... Need to just watch and wait I guess! Am only 37+1.

TheBooMonster · 25/03/2015 23:10

Hope things are getting a bit easier for you chicken and penguin I had endless hurdles with DD and a soul destroying stay in NICU with her weight loss, it's insane that we spend 9 months panicking about them in the womb and feeling it will all be fine once they're out, and then there's a whole new set of reasons to worry once they are actually out!

Had the dreaded three day weigh in today, midwife came through the door and asked me how I was and I basically had a breakdown! She got the weighing over and done with first for me and we'd lost 7.6%, which compared to DD's 12% is fabulous. My boobs all but exploded with milk today, but our feeding has slowed, she's a bit jaundiced, so I'm having to make her wake up for feeds to ensure she's getting as many in as possible.

PiL were over today and they ended up staying most of the afternoon, MiL thought it was fab that Evie was sleeping so much, I was silently having fucking kittens about it, and I was a bit relieved when they left and I was able to go back to wondering round with my boobs out and regularly trying to feed her sigh I don't want feeding to be a fight, but I expect our different approaches on what's normal for breastfeeding is going to cause problems... and my inner pride resents having to hide Evie behind blankets and muslins to feed, the whole damned purpose for boobs is feeding babies, so I don't see why I should have to hide the fact I'm doing it like I'm ashamed when there are boobs in the newspaper just for show I'll get off my boob rant soap box now

I'm hoping I haven't missed any births, it's so difficult to keep an eye on the thread and feed and try to ensure I'm not leaving DD out, and I'm so exhausted half the time that I can't actually focus my eyes on the words on the screen Shock

PenguinPoser · 26/03/2015 00:56

Holding your hand with the feeds Boo it's so difficult trying to wake them to feed when they're asleep! I don't at night but do in daytime. Dd has just woken though after just 2.5h which is ok. I've been fighting (still am) the weight loss (7.5%) plus jaundice so know how tough it is. Don't hide her or your boobs in your own home! Brew x

Hope things have either settled or happened daholster!

ChickenMe · 26/03/2015 01:29

You're right Boo the feeding/weight thing can be soul destroying and make you so paranoid. Plus omg breast feeding is so tiring! I think we had such a battle plus pretty much every midwife at the hosp squeezed my boob so I'm not bothered any more about any women seeing. Re male relatives they will just be told to look the other way.

PenguinPoser · 26/03/2015 01:39

I give up with people seeing my boobs. Come to my home, be prepared to see my boobs! At least FIL normally leaves the room!

Siarie · 26/03/2015 03:14

Here I am awake because I can't sleep, either due to crazy itching or BH's!

Driving me nuts, I might have to cave and buy an anti histamine, I can't keep not sleeping and my skin is so itchy!

Not long left I hope, sorry you can't get comfy squatting. Do you have a body pillow?

PenguinPoser · 26/03/2015 04:59

Siarie if you haven't already try and get some menthol aqueous cream it feels all cold and does help with itching. I was prescribed piriton although the leaflet says not to take in preg - it seemed fine with added benefit of being mildly sedating. Hope you and squatting have both got to sleep.

RL20 · 26/03/2015 05:09

Another one awake here. Sorry you're suffering with itching ladies! Brew
Other half has left for work so I'm wide awake as I had to get up to get a yoghurt as I can't get back to sleep when I feel hungry! Hungry?! At 4.30am?! And even the yoghurt hasn't quite cut it! Have had to put the tv on to see if it can help me drift of back to sleep, so looks like Deal Or No Deal it is! Hmm

Lauren I had a 'bad toilet experience' the other day and was also sick, so I really thought something was happening! Shock
I also had an episode at the antenatal class on Tuesday where I really thought I was going to pass out. I felt hot and dizzy and couldn't concentrate on what the midwife was saying properly because I kept thinking to myself, 'Do I ask to nip outside? Will it make me feel worse? Shall I just go to the toilet? What if I'm sick? Everyone would hear me Confused.' I must have got up to go to the jug of water at least 4 times, and I don't even like to drink water on it's own so that was a bit Confused'. But nothing has happened since...yet!

Will try and get back to sleep now. Although I still feel slightly hungry!

brummagem · 26/03/2015 06:30

Last day at work today. Said bye to my class it was all v emotional. For me anyway they're 4 so didn't seem too phased which is good lol.

Still got bits to do over the Easter holiday but otherwise all finished.

Congratulations Stun on your baby!

Can't believe I'm not far off full term! Doesn't feel like 5 minutes since found out I was pregnant!

The mass panic feeling is getting stronger too such a big change and still don't feel responsible enough to be in charge of another human 24/7. At least DH can look after himself. Just Grin

FiRaffe · 26/03/2015 07:18

Sorry you've had bad nights ladies - hope you can at least rest today.

aww brummagem - i'm sure they will miss you too, but at that age they don't always understand what's happening. At least the end of work is in sight and you can prepare for baby's arrival.

Don't want to get out of bed today, but will force myself - only another 6 times including today that I have to get up and do the drive. Wish I could work from home or something.

Hope those of your breastfeeding are okay too. You're doing brilliant jobs for your little ones!

Wineandchoccy · 26/03/2015 07:33

Sorry some of you had a bad nights sleep

Siarie I second the menthol aqueous cream that penguin suggests, I was recommended it by a chemist after getting bit by midges after a camping trip and the relief from the itching was brilliant. You can put aqueous cream in a bath as well just be careful not to slip.

I have my last long drive for work today, 2 1/2 hours to get to a meeting then I have to meet my manager to have my appraisal which I am guessing won't take to long as the question what are your plans for the next 12 months will be a bit irrelevant!
2 more days of meetings + 2 days working from home then that is me done, if baby can just hang on so I can catch up on sleep, clean the house and finish my batch cooking I will be happy.
