Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Make sure you get your info Misty. They like to keep you in the dark if you don't ask. Pretty annoying as it's about you but that's just how doctors/medical professionals like to keep it. Wink

Thanks for your comments. Was having a very emotional, overthinking evening and falling out with myself. I just kept crying, I'm sure even the cat was getting fed up with me. Am trying to snap out of it now, will be going to bed shortly as being upset has made me feel tired!

Daholster thank you. I went to school with a James but ultimately he was 'Jim'. Actually a good friend of my mums is someone called Jim, and I've just remembered that his full name is actually James. But then I know James' that are just, well, James! I also went to school with a Jamie and he was just Jamie, other than his friends calling him 'Jam'!
I also know of two male Laurence's/Lawrence's and both are called Loz. I would associate Laurie as a girls name, but there again Loz can be too I suppose!

Lauren glad to hear your other half has brought up the name situation! Most men need a gentle kick up the backside with regards to names!

Thanks for the Brew gesture Penguin. Think I'll make one before I go to bed.

Eek Banana that sounds uncomfortable! Lots of wriggling here tonight and occasional pressure feeling 'down there' as if he's just rolling over it or something, but no actual pain as yet. I suppose I'll get that once his head is engaged! Shock Good luck with the growth scan. I can't remember why you're having one, is it because you were measuring behind or ahead?

Cinnamon I was trying to make the point to the person on the thread that there isn't really a pronunciation difference at all in the two names, other than it's pronounced slightly different with a Spanish accent. With Jorge yes it's completely different, although I may pronounce it the English way, as I just like the spelling really! I also know of a Jorgie (female) and it is pronounced Georgie, so hopefully wouldn't be too much of a problem.
I was feeling very over-sensitive and it was probably the wrong time to post a thread in baby names knowing what mn'ers can be like on there!

Misty yay for newborn cuddles Smile Is anyone around to possibly get you some magazines if there is no telly?

cinnamongreyhound · 21/03/2015 21:53

Definitely get an early night RL20 tiredness makes me emotional! Tomorrow is a whole new day Flowers

smogsville · 21/03/2015 21:54

Misty thanks for replying on that, sorry you've had a weird experience and I hope you get some answers. Mine will be under GA so I won't feel a thing until I come round - the worst part from memory.

BananaToast · 21/03/2015 22:30

RL I'm measuring bang on my dates but they scheduled me for a 36 week scan to check growth right back at the start because my thyroid is underactive and it's standard procedure at my hospital. It's nice because I'm not worried about it, just see it as an extra peek at baby.

Sorry to hear you had a difficult birth Misty but lovely that you're having lots of cuddles now. Congratulations! Definitely make sure you find someone to talk it through with you.

daholster · 21/03/2015 22:42

Don't think I have any more room in my abdomen. Something is going to split!!! * rubs tummy incessantly *

ToutDeLeFruit · 21/03/2015 22:46

Hope you are ok RL! I've had a couple of those emotional days this week. Hopefully you will have a nice sleep and feel better tomorrow. Gorgeous name choice too :)

I had another bad night last night with sickness, wind and period aches, but as today has gone on I've felt tons better, here's to hoping for more than 2 hours sleep tonight then.

I do hope Siarie is ok after her eventful day yesterday x

TheBooMonster · 21/03/2015 23:11

Just to update Pessary went in just before 6, came out at 9:30 and was given an injection to slow me down and an I've fluid drip as hyper stimulated to near constant contraction, now fairly regular and intense. Still on antenatal ward though.

Good luck Boo looking forward to more baby news soon!

ToutDeLeFruit · 21/03/2015 23:21

Ooh good luck Boo! X

cinnamongreyhound · 21/03/2015 23:55

Good luck TheBooMonster!!!

I'm slightly concerned something might be happening here. I've had a few mild period pains while babysitting. Got slightly more painful on the drive home, having never experienced natural labour I have no idea what to expect! Off to bed now and hopefully sleep. Will let you know if it's something or nothing in the morning Smile

daholster · 22/03/2015 00:08

Ooh exciting cinnamon!!! I hope hope hope for you he makes an appearance naturally for you Smile

And good luck boo Glad things are more manageable...

My bump and all these BHs are feeling very odd, its like everything is tense. I just sat down on the bed to get in and found myself thinking "what will I put on if I wake in the night in labour? Oh it's OK, I remember seeing leggings in the drawer" - then thought that was all very bizarre, what an odd thing to think about!!!

Hope you have a better night tout. Other thoughts - maybe a UTI? Worth checking perhaps if you are feeling that grotty.

Hope you are OK too siarie.

Night all, wonder if there will be a boo baby in the morning? Smile

FiRaffe · 22/03/2015 00:12

Good luck Boo!

Just back from the crazy rugby day- shattered but had fun. Hope you are all feeling better and had good days.

Tomorrow i'll hopefully be able to actually keep up!

MoominMama22 · 22/03/2015 00:31

Keep us posted boo eeep! Best of luck Grin

As cinnamon said daholster people really can't assume what the nicknames will be. A Francis won't automatically become Frank unless he(or parents)want to be.
Being Scottish I obviously know a lot of Jameses but I don't even think of the James,Jamies,Jims and Jimmys as the same name, they aren't interchangeable iyswim- introduce a Jamie and he is a Jamie, but that said I'm always in favour of giving the child the "real" longer name and so they have a choice down the line.

Ooh RL definitely dangerous territory posting name ideas with the general public, you are BOUND to get mixed responses. Just remember you'd hate most of their fave name choices so who cares if they have a problem with yours!
I love the names personally, either anglicised or pronounced as you've spelled. I speak Spanish and have to say the pronunciations are so different that it is something to think about especially with the middle name choice, I've heard of lots of girl "Georgies/Georgias" recently spelt with J ( just to be different -no change in pron.) so would it be a constant battle to say to people no its not "George" it is pronounced Horhay? Would that bother you? I'm not judging the names as I said I love all of them, but it is worth clarifying how you would pronounce it and poss being relaxed and letting people get away with wrong pronunciation may annoy your DS in the long run....

I just did my first starflower oil as pessary. Impatien to get this baby out
Now reading of dangers! Uh oh bad me!

38 weeks today

RiverRocks · 22/03/2015 04:15

Good luck Boo, looking forward to hearing from you. And Cinnamon, hope things are moving naturally for you.

That sounds quite traumatic Misty; hopefully you'll get some answers today. I know what you mean about falling asleep with them, particularly if they're feeding. Think it must be hormones. In hospital I didn't dare put him in the crib as I couldn't get it close to the bed and nodded off a few times which was scary.

Hope Siarie is doing okay; that was a long journey she had planned.

RL I wouldn't worry too much about the comments on the names thread; I used to read it before I even got pregnant and some people seem to use it as an excuse to be rude. Fair enough if you asked for opinions but if you were just looking for alternative suggestions then not very helpful.

daholster all of the under 10s I know called James are called by their full name rather than an abbreviation.

Poor DS woke up this morning with a gunky conjunctivitis eye. Spent all day cleaning it with cooled boiled water and squirted some breastmilk in there (DH was a bit Hmm) but seems to have cleared it up, touch wood.

Question re breastfeeding; how long is it normal for a 7 day old to feed? He is still topped up with formula, but spends at least 40-60 mins on the boob first.

daholster · 22/03/2015 05:25

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry STOP SNORING!!!! I am seriously for the first time ever about to leave the bed!!! Interspersed with the odd offensive fart and I am so pissed off!!!

I'm seriously worried he will wake the newborn. I can't use ear plugs cos of dd, and when he is herehere, the baby. "I don't know why I'm so tired" says he... BECAUSE YOU SPEND HALF THE NIGHT WAKING YOURSELF UP!

I am seriously annoyed. Where is this weight loss he has been promising and promising? I was leaving it til his paternity leave since he's stressed already and he sleeps even worse when he is worrying about waking me. But this is ridiculous. Its not good for him at all!!!! Or me!!!!!

No more sleep for me tonight. I may as well go and get a cuppa.

Angry Angry Angry

daholster · 22/03/2015 05:41

Now I'm bawling my eyes out on the sofa Sad I hate that this is such an issue, I can't believe I have finally had to give in. He's going to be gutted. Silly idiot, why doesn't he look after himself? I'm so sad.

Going to send him away with a weight loss target this week I think. Doesn't matter if he does have a sore throat. He will have worse in a few years time if he doesn't finally correct this after 10 years of yo-yoing and always swinging back to higher than he was before.

And the house is a f*ing state. Can't even be bothered to go in the messy kitchen and make myself a cup of tea.

daholster · 22/03/2015 05:43

And I'm sad because he is going to be so sad Sad

BrixtonBunny · 22/03/2015 06:50

Daholster, big hugs. Maybe you can sell it as "let's get healthy together when the baby comes as I know we've both been feeling tired and lazy with diet"? Can you speak to him about it when you're less tired and sad? Noise when you can't wear earplugs is so frustrating so I feel your pain. Maybe you could buy him some of those nose strips to wear when he goes to bed? Think that they open up the nasal passages. Anyway hope you managed to get a cuppa, and you can go back to bed for a nap later.

On the topic of snoring I've been snoring so badly since becoming pregnant. Poor DP has had to go and sleep on the sofa a few times, which I've felt so bad about. But it's not my fault - as I keep telling him, the baby's making me do it!

Boo this is all so exciting. Thinking of you and hope all is going well.

Hope Siarie is ok!

RiverRocks · 22/03/2015 07:05

Hey daholster, how are you feeling now? Everything seems worse in the early hours, especially when you're exhausted, and particularly when you've been looking forward to him being home, not to mention being heavily pregnant Flowers

Has your DH spoken to his GP about his weight/snoring? 10 years is a long time to be trying to get on top of this.

If he works away, does he have a lot of control over what he eats whilst he's away? I did slimming world for a while with my mum and sister and it worked well for us. It's more healthy eating than dieting, but it is possible to lose a lot of weight especially for men.

FizzyBubbly · 22/03/2015 07:08

Good luck Boo!

Have the period pains progressed into anything since last night Cinnamon? Been having lots of these lately, was even using my contraction timer the other day but obviously just BH's

Hope you're feeling a bit brighter this morning Daholster

After a busy few weeks including a bathroom renovation I'm starting to feel a bit more prepared, although nursery is still a junk room, still not sure what to do about a double pram, and hospital bag is 75% done. Oh and DDs old baby clothes are still packed away in the loft.

Better get a move on. Hope everyone has a nice Sunday!

PenguinPoser · 22/03/2015 07:27

Brew daholster. Do you think he might have sleep apnoea? Sounds awful for you Sad and does sound like something that needs sorting sooner rather than later. I agree everything seems worse at night in the dark.

I've had a very unsettled night thankfully I napped 11.15-1am then fed dd. Then gave her to DH to settle in crib about 2.45am she had massive nappy action that required an impromptu bath to clean up. Then she was awake again needed more feeding and just wouldn't settle. Has needed mummy snuggles all night. Feeding her now then it's DH turn and I'm finally going to sleep. If she can be bothered to latch on properly Confused

River pretty sure there's no rule about how long they need to feed. Yesterday (day 7) dd fed on average 1h at a time every 3-4h with no top ups. I'm still worried it's not enough but she's wetting and dirtying nappies so fingers crossed. Sounds like you're feeding well - what is the reason for your formula top ups?

Eagerly awaiting baby news!

Siarie · 22/03/2015 07:34

I will read up but having problems loading MN on the signal around here.

We picked up the car, but I honestly wasn't sure if we would. Saturday night after the random gush (I think my plug is most likely). I had BH but then they stopped, went to bed and woke up with another wave of BH at 3am. Started timing then every 20 mins, 15 minutes, 10 minutes, 7 minutes then started to feel this push downwards with each one and increasingly worse cramps and backache. At that point it had been two hours and me and my DH were about to get up to call the hospital. I wanted to wait for one more and they stopped. Managed to get an hours sleep and then we were up for the day ahead.

Saturday morning more BH in the car every ten minutes but no progressing, then Saturday evening more BH again ten minutes moving to 7 but they stopped before bed time.

No idea what's going on but I just can't see her staying in for too long. I have a very weird pain threshold and I worry I might leave it too late. But then everyone I've spoken to has said you'll know when it's active labour so hopefully I will. The BH so far have been uncomfortable and certainly more than just tightenings, when I felt it pushing downwards that seemed strange for BH?
