Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had six babies, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Penguin, have you got your red book from the health visitor? I'm sure I remember there being a page in there about how many wet/dirty nappies, definitely somewhere in all the paperwork we have, but from what you've said it sounds as though she's doing just fine! If you're feeding on demand and she needed more, I'm sure she would tell you.

I have watched OBEM, and really enjoyed it, but it made me all the more determined to have an active birth, so more disappointed I ended up with a c-section. I started watching the new series, but found myself getting a bit jealous of the women who go in, have an epidural straight away, and manage to give birth vaginally Blush Hopefully just hormones...

Cinnamon I did not enjoy being pregnant at all, but I get what you mean. I miss having him wriggling inside me, and that would be enough to convince me to do it again (plus newborn snuggles). Not yet though Grin

Thanks ladies. It seems she is having enough dirty nappies but I would prefere more soaking wet ones. So hard to know if I'm doing ok with the feeding. She's still a little jaundiced too. Just worrying being 'left' for the weekend with her not being weighed again until Tuesday. Not sure if she's feeding long enough/latching well enough for the hind milk. Eek I'm such a worrier and there's no visible way of seeing what she is having.

Daholster ouch hope you're ok and your dd has had a better night.

Wondering if the weekend will bring any babies...!

Skyra glad you got your bras sorted. I haven't even tried mine again since milk came in I'm finding the stretchy bra tops more comfy although do have to essentially remove them for feeding.

Was meant to be going to a wedding today. Needless to say I'm not going with a fussy feeding 7day old, unwashed hair (hope to rectify this issue though!) and a very sore perineum still. DH is going to ceremony and meal (it's his friends wedding) but MIL and SIL are coming over with 3 year old niece for the afternoon to "look after me" while DH out. translate: they want baby cuddles I'm worried as I need baby with me as much as possible for the feeding and I'm worried that they will steal her, they won't help with washing up etc, niece will need entertaining, I just want to feed and sleep. I'm not going to offer them any cuppas etc but hope they make them for me! I could be wrong and it could be fine I'm just not looking forward to it.

I can get my mum to come over from mid afternoon though if needed. She's already said she will come and make my dinner later and sit with me. She's great she comes in washes up tidies round and feeds me and does not expect any baby cuddles etc in return. Didn't realise how much I needed this sort of help until it happened!

Sorry self indulgent post.
Brew all round this morning. Going to try and get back to sleep for an hour - touch wood dd seems settled.

daholster · 21/03/2015 07:33

penguin exactly - you often find that family are helpful and you do need them even when you thought you'd rather they stay away. Depends on the family of course! Self indulgent is fine!

Bum was achey to go yo sleep but not too bad at the moment thanks.

I was awake half the night it feels like. Dd slept much better (except for falling out of bed and rolling under it?! No wonder she woke up screaming about it, I couldn't find her at first, its dark under there!!!) And she is MUCH less wheezy this morning. Something is working, I think its the tablets. She just took her second one like a really good girl. Unfortunately I think they are upsetting her tummy a bit but its the lesser of two evils right now I think. Just have to keep her away from anyone with respiratory tract infections because she will be v susceptible on the tablets. Oh wait, daddy is getting one... His glands are up and he has a sore throat... Hmm

I hardly slept due to backache. At 5am I nearly wrote "is anyone else just so fed up with no being able to get comfy for sleep?" and then probably some ensuing rant. But I decided getting my phone out would not help me sleep and I should just try harder!!!

Best go downstairs. So much tidying and sorting to do this weekend! I really need to find my get up and go!

36+4

smogsville · 21/03/2015 07:44

daholster, I don't think you're meant to have much get up and go in extreme pregnancy!

Penguin I reckon if you're feeding on demand and for as long as she wants you'll be fine. She wouldn't be sleeping happily if her belly wasn't full. Good luck, keep going and prioritise sleep over hair washing. I might buy myself a head scarf for can't be arsed emergencies. Defo do nothing when you have people over, other than ask for food and drink when you need it. They will soon get the message, if a message needs to be got.

DH is trying to have some sort of sinus affliction but to his credit (and mine) we are both ignoring it so I can have a lie in while he does DD's breakfast.

FiRaffe · 21/03/2015 07:52

Aww Penguin, hope the in laws are helpful. At least your SIL has had a child so hopefully will remember what it is like. It's easy to worry, but everyone has said to me that generally baby will demand if it needs more food and as long as the nappies are okay then you'll be fine until Tuesday. Just keep going and call your mum if you need her!

Daholster - good work with putting your DD down, sorry you fell in the first place and hope you're in less pain. Don't push yourself too much today!

We're hopefully off to the local community furniture project today to find a wardrobe for the nursery, then a relaxing afternoon of rugby! Tomorrow is then hospital bag d-day!

PenguinPoser · 21/03/2015 08:51

Thanks ladies I really appreciate the support Flowers

I decided to ring the midwives and had a little cry Blush mw said it sounds like she's doing fine but she is going to pop over this morning with the scales and just check dd over. Phew. I'm such a worrier and I totally didn't think I would be like this!!

Glad you've had a lie in smogs.
daholster don't worry about your get up and go! Mine got up and went several weeks ago! Hope your back is feeling better.

Misty sorry it was traumatic, do you mind my asking why? I have one booked in a few weeks. Congratulations on your DD.

Penguin - good for you on getting some reassurance hopefully it will set your mind at rest and then the milk will continue to flow as you'll be relaxed.

We had toasted hot cross buns with lashings of butter for breakfast, I was cross that DH had only brought one packet home with him last night but now I'm quite relieved as would defo have scoffed more if more had been available.

Just watched OBEM. STOP SHOWING PEOPLE LAY ON THEIR BACKS FFS! Antenatal class said it's the worst ever position for giving birth it makes it so much harder and more painful. Our hospital actually makes the beds incredibly high to discourage you from labouring on your back they want you to move about and keep active as much as possible. Angry

brummagem · 21/03/2015 10:03

And relax.

Hope you're all doing ok!

Work is incredibly busy but finish this Friday then have Easter hols before official finish. Yay!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 21/03/2015 10:21

Misty I'm so sorry u had to go through that. Well done for coping.

I have my baby shower today- but have serious bump ache after doin too much yesterday. Honestly a wedding next Saturday is gonna finish me off!

Almost hope my waters go or something so I don't need to go. However am only 35+3 so not allowed to wish such things. So glad for 39 weeks induction!

cinnamongreyhound · 21/03/2015 10:32

It's soooooooo hard not to worry PenguinPoser. This sounds daft now but my ds1 had GAINED 4oz at 5 days old and was putting on 1lb a week for a significant period of time and I worried myself sick about how much milk he was getting! A baby that is content for a period of time after a feed, sleeps but is also alert and has wet nappies is being well fed please try not to stress. I don't mention poo's as bf babies can go a while withot pooing ds2 went 10-14 days between poos and was perfectly healthy. You will know if she's hungry so please try to relax. I had a spreadsheet with ds1 with feeds which made me feel better for a while, as though I had some control which may help you order it in your mind. Glad you've spoken to a midwife.

Oh daholster falling over is the last thing you need!

Sorry to hear about your cs Misty414, I got told off by the anaethetist with ds1 for not telling him I had a curved spine because of course that's somethingg you'd know but I was just having contractions that is been having for hours so it wasn't a big deal to wait for him to come back and fix it. Hope you get someone useful to explain to you, understanding helps a lot. Love your breech frog leg description!

TheBooMonster · 21/03/2015 11:13

misty are you hypermobile (overly bendy) by any chance? It can play badly with local anaesthetic including spinal blocks...

daholster · 21/03/2015 12:26

Thanks for all the lovely words Smile I'm just an idiot for trying to get off the floor carrying a 12.5kg toddler as well as my 10kg extra bump weight all overbalanced and expected my scrawny legs to manage all that work... Nope! Ds is wriggling and kicking so was obviously as unbothered as dd who did look worried but then said "Oh dear, SILLY mummy fell down!" Can't get anything past her!

Have done hospital bags! Hooray! Enough to manage anyway. Need to put in hospital notes and iPad, phone and purse, and put TENS machine with it all (but I suspect that I will be using that before I leave so it will be attached). Granny and grandpa have just gone out with dd into town to get what's left on the list - new toothbrush, toothpaste and calpol sachets for dd's bag, a snack for dd's bag, food/sweets/drinks supplies for our bag, and me a new toothbrush. And to take her for lunch too, while dh sleeps (yes he is poorly, just what we don't need!) and I try to finish emptying what will be the nursery.

I did realise however that I was busy packing clothes for ds... And they are all from the loft and haven't been washed!!! What an idiot! So they have gone in the washing machine but are at least sorted. Once dried they will go straight back in the bag. I haven't packed a birthing shirt. I favoured t shirt and sheet/hospital gown last time and the shirt I have is really thick and I can't see the point, I would just take it off!!!

Only thing I can't find is my reusable bamboo breast pads which I ordered about 4 weeks ago but no idea where I have put them... Ooh. I wonder if I put them in dd's drawer of calpol/food/bibs/red book downstairs? Will go and look!

Only thing left to do then is order dd another couple of spacers (for nursery and grandparents) and inhalers so they can go in the bag for her too and we are all sorted! Oh, and washing all the rest of his clothes, which I will do this weekend.

Best go get room emptying!

PS dtd so far did nothing except make my bump sore! And make me and dh happy Wink

daholster · 21/03/2015 12:39

Oh and get car seat and crib down and wash those too!!! I need more room in my house...

IvegotaCaveTroll · 21/03/2015 12:58

Omg I just got a nursing pillow- I'm lying on my front with it under my bump and I'm comfy- best thing ever!!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 21/03/2015 12:59

Omg- iv on DTD once this pregnancy- bad wife!

smogsville · 21/03/2015 14:12

daholster when you say wash car seat do you mean give it a good wipe with a damp cloth and some antibacterial spray? Or something more rigorous? Please say the latter otherwise I'll feel like I have to pull finger.

I hasten to add I have machine washed the white cotton thing that goes around the Moses basket.

DD has gone to garden centre with DH so I am lying down eating the last of those waitrose magnums and thinking about doing some light pottering (probably won't).

MoominMama22 · 21/03/2015 14:18

We haven't DTD since the excruciatingly painful time a few ...weeks...prob months...Ago!

When I went to docs about pain they said vulval varicosities and prob bacterial infection .... I'm pretty sure I already shared this horrendous fact...BUT the swabs came back clear and I'm not entirely convinced I have "varisvosities" I certainly don't have any wormy veins down there but do tend to be swollen as if extra blood, at times very swollen feeling.

Anyway, over share, what my question to you ladies is - should I go back to docs? The whole area is so sensitive and inside vagina is stingy to touch ( generally fine otherwise) and I've got to push a baby out of there incredibly soon! If its not a Bacterial infection or thrush I don't see why it should sting..... So should I try to get it looked at? Eek!!Shock

skyra13 · 21/03/2015 14:19

I washed my Cover for car seat in washing machine oops lol I did not read that hand wash only and washed the instructions of the sides but it's nice and clean now and cleaned all the plastic down I only wash on 30 so all still fits on seat well.

Lauren82000 · 21/03/2015 14:34

Ahh treated DD to mcdonalds as she has been moved up into the next group at swimming. She repayed me by not saying thankyou to the lady who made her a balloon animal, answering me back and then trying to hit me when we got home as I refused to give her the balloon.

Had to put her in her room and she just yells at me through the door. She said she hates me Sad

This is the first Saturday of DHs overtime so it's just me and her all day. I'm so mad at her I took all the stars off her chart and she can stay in her room for the foreseeable future. I'm fed up with her manners and argumentative come backs. Where is the beautiful little girl I raised? It appears she has been swapped for a monster.Confused

BrixtonBunny · 21/03/2015 15:57

Ahh Lauren that sounds really rubbish, I'm sorry. I hope she decides to be better behaved for you soon!

Moomin we haven't DTD properly for months (though have done "other things") as I also feel very swollen and tight and it hurts! I haven't been to doctor as I'd read it can happen with all of the extra blood to your vagina/vulva/pelvic region in general. But now I'm wondering if I should have done? My home birth midwife is coming tomorrow morning to meet me and drop round a "birth pack" (sounds like it should be full of fun and lovely stuff but in reality I think it's just things like absorbent pads Hmm) so maybe I'll mention it to her.

House is making slow but steady progress. Finally gotten rid of all the rubbish that was sitting outside the house (after paying a frankly extortionate amount for people to take it away) which is a relief!

Smogs those ice creams sound divine. I feel like I've turned toast eating into a sport today - realised that over the course of the day I've eaten five pieces Shock

We have our parents (plus my Dad's wife and my mum's partner) coming for lunch tomorrow to see the house and to meet one another (my mum and her partner know my DPIL but they've yet to meet my dad and his wife). My mum is a coeliac and very into healthy eating as well, my dad is funny about eating "interesting" food (ie Ottolenghi-style food which is my default) and my DPIL won't eat meat that's not kosher. Should be nice and easy to cater for everyone then...!

37+3

BrixtonBunny · 21/03/2015 15:59

(Oh and my DP is allergic to fish and chilli just to complicate matters, so no curries or whacking some fish under the grill!)
