Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 24th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is herein its 41st outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs herefor once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

The stats sheet is here

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Aw sorry wil, was hopeful for you but maybe misplaced! I think a going out ban is reasonable!

Will be checking back eagerly for news from boo this morning too! Big day!!

MiL has some stamina there la, hope you got to sleep at least. Hosting can be tiring at the best of times!

Wore maternity leggings last night - heaven!

Fleurchamp · 22/03/2015 07:51

Morning viroids!

Lots to catch up on and, without taking notes, I can't remember who said what!

Good luck boo - do they not put you in your own room to labour? Eek!

Miniga is a legend. I do agree though, next time she's in there - hand her the mr muscle and a gas mask.

Glad the MIL visit is going well la that is quite some alcohol consumption. I have bought a cheap avent manual pump, just in case. My sister has an electric one to lend me if I do get on with expressing, I would like DH to eventually do one bottle in the evening.

I spent yesterday having a huge sort out of stuff in the house and then last night we went for a curry with my DSis and BIL, very last minute but very welcome.

willywallace · 22/03/2015 08:00

Ah I miss maternity leggings.

I had some success at making her go back to sleep at 6 without feeding again so wasn't too bad.

If it's like my labour ward, think you have to be about 4cm dilated before they let you go through to the private rooms. First bit of induction always done on antenatal ward.

splodge77 · 22/03/2015 08:06

Ooh boo!! Exciting stuff. I need to get breast pump sorted in case my tits go into milk production overdrive like they did last time. I had to pump em off to get some relief! I used to express once a day so DP could do a dream feed - which I highly recommend - sort of feeding baby at 11pm-ish without really even waking them up. If it works can help to give you a nice block of uninterrupted sleep! My fanjo is so achey!! I'm staggering about like an old woman. Might have to check with midwife that all is ok down there, I'm long past being able to see meself! Am sat in bed with a cuppa while DS is glued to YouTube on the iPad. Baaaad parenting. Ah well. Happy Sunday viroids

LaLaLaaaa · 22/03/2015 08:06

Oh no wil! Definite going out ban, you need a break.

Hoping boo is resting with a LO already delivered.

No sign of mil yet but dh is home today so they'll be getting pissed together. I had a thimbleful of wine with buckets of soda on Friday so can't have any today.

Are any of you pg viroids drinking? I've had 4 125ml glasses since end of first tri, with a lot of food and water. I'd love to believe 1 a week is ok but I would just feel too guilty due to not knowing for sure whether I'm causing harm. My bf had 2 125ml a week because her dr told her it was fine!

I'm drinking brewdog nanny state and becks blue and normally don't care that I'm not drinking but this weekend I've noticed it lots because of being around people drinking lots. I'd kill for a glass of red wine.

We are going for pub lunch today then I've got work to do while dh entertains his mum.

gaggiagirl · 22/03/2015 08:08

boo eeeeeeek! I'm so excited!
Erm pis has been quiet for a while Wink

I took a virtual tour of cunt town hospital maternity unit last night. No. Just no. Or if I do I want to be discharged at the 6 hour post birth minimum. 2x1 hour visiting times does not suit my mahoosive family when its only 3 visitors allowed. No. No.

LaLaLaaaa · 22/03/2015 08:19

Pis....? Are you pushing somewhere?

Indigoblue2 · 22/03/2015 08:20

la there was a programme on telly the other week all about drinking whilst preggo. It was really stressing there is no safe limit. It showed you ultrasounds of what the baby does when you even have a small glass, which was a change in movement patterns and increased startle reflex thing. They said America and other countries that I can't remb say not to drink anything and that essentially we are behind the times. It was convincing enough that I'm def not touching it till it is born!

Purpleball · 22/03/2015 08:30

Morning viroids

Excited for miniboo news, hope you breathed the baby out Smile

It's an electric breast pump I've been given. No idea if I'll need it but I'm accepting anything at the mo. My friend has given us a highchair too. But it's not the ikea one so I don't know whether to accept.

La that's some hardcore drinking by your mil!
I've been told to completely abstain so I've not had any since before I got the bfp. I'm mostly ok with it but I miss red wine as its my calming juice and I used it a lot far too much
I'm very much an all or nothing person, I'm not good with boundaries so 1 glass would be too tempting to have more.

Ga have you chosen which hospital you want?

Popz I'm glad it's not just me. I typed about the heebies and thought everyone will think I'm awful!

I keep buying odd things for the baby. Latest weird one was a net for storing bath toys. It seemed like a good idea. I also have 2 packs of dummies and some nappy sacks as they were cheap. Thinking I might stock up on some baby toiletries whilst I'm still earning, maybe get some nappies in different sizes, probably won't buy loads of newborn as no idea what size it will be though. My sister had 8lb-10lb babies, mum had 7.5lb (me) - 9lb babies. So if it's full term it could well be a big one, especially with diabetes

Currently wondering whether to record DHs snoring and use for a ringtone as I don't always hear my phone!

Blimey that was a mammoth post! Smile

willywallace · 22/03/2015 08:31

That's the same as our visiting hours Gaggia. It's not too bad if you're only in overnight. MrGaggia will be able to be there most of the day. I wonder why noone used the MLU?

There was a programme on a while back about drinking in pg and our attitude compared to other countries. Quite interesting. How you're managing not to sink a few bottles this weekend La I don't know Grin . If I drink with my MIL, I have to keep asking for more mixer. She gives me a massive glass with half gin and half tonic - would blow your brain off!

Splodge that's been pretty much my parenting for the last two months...

willywallace · 22/03/2015 08:32

Oh x-post Indigo - took me so long to type with screaming baby!

batfish · 22/03/2015 08:36

la I have had a teeny bit - I had a glass of sparkling wine at 4 weeks (trying to hide pregnancy from friends), a glass of wine at 6 weeks (again trying to hide pregnancy from friends and I really wanted one) and a glass of prosecco at 10 weeks at a hen party. I think I will have a very occasional drink but only if I really fancy it otherwise no point. Not drinking has made me realise how much we drink just for the sake of it!

Mmm this talk of hog is making me feel hungry and I've just finished my boring tuna salad lunch!

Speaking of tuna - what's allowed? We were talking in the office today about recommended amounts of tuna in general (they don't know I'm pregnant) and one of the girls said max 2 tins a week. But I thought I had read max 4 tins during pregnancy! I am a tuna addict - does anyone know the recommended amount?! Concerned I'm giving my baby mercury poisoning!

LaLaLaaaa · 22/03/2015 09:09

Indigo I heard quite a few people saying the science behind that programme wasn't up to much. I didn't see it myself though. I'm a scientist and hate being told something is right/wrong without seeing the evidence.

I'm not going to drink just in case but I do wish the guidance was clearer.

Tuna - must be limited due to potential heavy metal content. Fine to have but only once/twice a week.

LaLaLaaaa · 22/03/2015 09:11

I totally agree that people drink out of habit far too much! Since getting pg I probably only 'miss' it about once a fortnight. Whereas normally I'd have wine every few nights!

LaLaLaaaa · 22/03/2015 09:15

Another can/can't question - I was thinking of getting a nice manicure done to make me feel better. Can you have gel nails in pg?

I know they say fumes can be bad if exposed to loads ie if you're a beauty therapist but what about as client?

Love the buying of nets for bath toys! Definite 'must have' purchase Grin. First thing I bought was Ewan the dream sheep

willywallace · 22/03/2015 09:26

Tricky to see how you could ethically get evidence to prove it though La. I agree our guidelines are shit.

Purple, they're all totally useful purchases!

LaLaLaaaa · 22/03/2015 09:32

On I know! It's just wishful thinking I guess Grin

Fattycow · 22/03/2015 09:45

My foof hurts! Sad

Indigoblue2 · 22/03/2015 09:53

www.itv.com/presscentre/ep1week10/exposure-when-pregnant-women-drink

There's a blurb below the video on the page if you just want to read a synopsis on it.

la I agree with you, whilst not being a scientist I am a lover of science geek and like to think of myself as a critical thinker. However, having seen the ultrasound on the programme and heard even just one consultant paediatrician saying not to drink a drop, I am sold! I don't care if it had looked at one single woman to draw a tenuous conclusion which it didn't that would be good enough for me in this instance. I really would recommend watching for yourself and seeing what you think of it. I think it depends on the individual

Indigoblue2 · 22/03/2015 09:58

Sorry I'm crap at links!

gaggiagirl · 22/03/2015 10:03

purple I dont have a hospital choice really Sad its the hospital I work at in cunt town or one about an hours drive away that offers the same shite facilities.

wil it closed because it was a half hour ambulance drive from the nearest hospital with Drs and theatres in. So you could only give birth at the mlu if you had perfect everything. So even if your BP was a wee bit up they wouldn't risk having you at the mlu.

bat I got told 4 tins a week.too.
la ask at the salon about gels, I think kato gets hers done still.

townsender · 22/03/2015 10:03

Morning!
Poor you, fatty
Still silence from pis, maybe we are going to get viroid twins today!

I'm afraid I'm in the drinking camp for preggers. Not during 1st trimester, as I feel shit and it's clear that this is the most unknown period, but as soon as I start to feel better I will exercise my right to have a glass of wine with a meal and not feel guilty!

Interesting you ask about tuna La, as you could compare to alcohol. Both definitely cause harm in large quantities. Both have no evidence of harm in small quantities. Yet alcohol is a very contentious topic and so gets the 'safest not to drink at all' advice, which you don't see for tuna. Mind you, you don't exactly see people 'binge eating' on tuna! And tuna sadly has more heath benefits than wine ....

ChatEnOeuf · 22/03/2015 10:03

No news from Boo or Pis? Exciting...!

La, I've been enjoying the odd glass of (white, red the smell puts me off) wine since 12w. I really enjoy a little glass with dinner, so do indulge most weeks. Also assists my performance in University Challenge and Only Connect - it's a one-glass optimum Grin [/geek]

I watched the alcohol programme, can't say I was impressed with the lack of science in it. Studies are all flawed - the biggest one to date lumped all drinkers together, and relied upon the ladies to remember (and calculate) their units for the whole of pregnancy. I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, throw a sleepless infant into the mix and my memory is stuffed!

Good planning, Purple. I need some newborn nappies, but I have over 120 size 2s, as I forgot to cancel the Amazon bulk order when DD went up a size!

Mountain I'm sure they routinely give IM cyclizine with diamorph locally (UK locally)

Dulcet I'm very jealous of the hog. Very. Need to work out the translation for which cut of meat we need for pulled pork...one day.

Off for newborn cuddles later, taking lunch and a 3yo. That just about balances things out, right? Grin

gaggiagirl · 22/03/2015 10:08

indigo I saw that! I'm not a drinker anyway so its no skin off my nose to not booze for 9 months. After watching that though I wouldn't drink if I was a drinker. The rules in so many other countries are no alcohol during pregnancy. If its good enough for Canada, U.S.A. and Australia its good enough for me.

RPopz · 22/03/2015 10:11

Hyper stimulation Shock Constant contraction Shock Shock Blimey Boo Hope you got a little respite...

Oooh no Pis? She must be doing a baby!! Grin
