smiling I hope all that he needs is a sweep from the midwife to get him moving.

tea thank you for all the info and support it was really useful.

lila35 · 28/03/2015 09:00

Its so bloody lovely that all these babies are coming!! Wishing you all luck with the various sweeps and inductions! Hope you are all finding your feet with feeding to, everything I have read tells me its a tough process at the beginning.

I'm 39+1 today...Would really like this little man out now! I end up with back ache and leg cramps by the end of the day no matter if I do lots or not much at all. The house is incredibly clean and nearly tidy ( dp has lots of sorting that I can't do because its all his stuff!!) and I have packed and repacked my bag twice! Reckon he's going to make me wait though.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 28/03/2015 10:43

Just had sweep

Cervix still posterior, only 1cm dilated and cervix soft Sad

Am booked in Monday for a second sweep and just had an argument with head midwife because they want to induce next Saturday but ill have to be an inpatient because of my............................... yes you've guessed it BMI Angry

I've refused induction because I do not need to be an inpatient

TinyTear · 28/03/2015 11:14

Ahrgh smiling so for their imaginary bmi issue they want you in over easter???

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 28/03/2015 11:29

I'm not happy tiny I have refused induction on the 4th which would be day 12 as an inpatient. It's a pessary ffs anyone else would have it put in then get sent home to wait, I could insert the bloody thing myself!

The 4th is also the day DP has to pick up dsc, so he will be 170 miles away whilst I'm in hospital, it's not happening.

TinyTear · 28/03/2015 11:39

I got the pessary last time and stayed in, but I had GD so needed different monitoring...

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 28/03/2015 11:48

All along the midwife has said if you get induced by pessary the policy is that we monitor you and baby for an hour then you go home to wait. Today I'm told oh no you have to stay in because you have a high BMI

LittleBairn · 28/03/2015 13:03

smiling FFS I still can't believe they are going on about your BMI! A BMI reading that most other health authorities would not classify as needed extra intervention. I'm Angry on your behalf.

Did they explain what the extra risks are? I would consider accepting it but then discharging myself afterwards.

lila our place is all clean and tidy too after it being a disaster for so long. The baby might not care but I'm hoping being ready for it means I will be more relaxed therefore likely to labour.

I've had the pessaries in both my pervious deliveries but obviously I was already an in-patient. The first time I was off my head on G&A and had thought they were like ariel liquid tabs it wasn't until the 2nd time I realised they are tiny.

My consultant examined me after the stitch removal says my cervix is soft and mid position. Does anyone have any info on positions?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 28/03/2015 13:19

There are no extra risks apart from the ones they have been going on about for months so I really don't understand why. The pessimist in me says it's their way of making sure I have a hospital birth. I did consider going in having it done then just walking out.

I think it goes posterior, mid then anterior.

Baby has also disengaged. The midwife reckons things were gearing up for labour then because I got stressed everything stopped. I currently hate MIL Angry

LittleBairn · 28/03/2015 13:45

smiling I would be thinking the same. During my first pregnancy my health authority tried putting up all sorts of baseless obstacles to stop me planning a HB. They were especially against first time mothers birthing at home stating I had an untested pelvis.

I do think feeling safe and relaxed can really help things start if your body is ready. It must be awful feeling like you are now on a countdown.

Shetland · 29/03/2015 11:01

Bloody MIL smiling Sad how are things now? And I can't believe they are still going on about your BMI.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 29/03/2015 12:03

shetland I can barely be civil to MIL but am calmer now DP and I have a plan.

After sleeping on the whole induction issue I have decided I will go in on Saturday have the pessary, let them monitor for a while and if both me and baby are ok will discharge myself. The other options are to refuse induction or stay in but I could be in for days and DP picks DSC up on sat so staying in is not a viable option plus I'm not ill so someone who is can have the bed. I also can not find any additional risks involved in having the pessary just because my BMI is high. I will be making a complaint to CQC and the hospital when this baby is born because I genuinely think the policies are putting women and babies through unnecessary stress and endangering lives by pushing people into making unnecessary choices

On the meantime I have resorted to actually having sex (that's how desperate I am) and drinking raspberry leaf tea in the hope that will kick start something and I have another sweep tomorrow afternoon.

LittleBairn · 29/03/2015 13:19

smiling that's exactly what I would do too.
Sex I'm not even sure I remember what that is...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 29/03/2015 13:59

Funny little DP said exactly the same thing last night when I suggested we had sex "what's that then, I vaguely remember something called sex" Grin

LittleBairn · 29/03/2015 14:50
Grin
LondonSuperTrooper · 29/03/2015 17:37

Good luck with the pessary & sweep Smiling. I'm another who has forgotten what sex is!

Tiny when is your CS? Is it tomorrow?

LondonSuperTrooper · 29/03/2015 17:41

LIG they think that I need to be induced as Bunny goes through long periods without any activity. Also due to my previous history of pre-eclampsia and they don't want Bunny to get too big as I had 3rd degree tear.

Thanks Shetland I think my last week at work will go quickly. I'm in hospital on Tuesday and Thursday. Friday is a bank holiday so really I'm in the office for 2.5 days only GrinGrinGrin

Shetland · 29/03/2015 20:18

Sounds like the perfect week at work to me london Grin

This is my first week of 'proper' mat leave - with no revision to worry about! Planning to get as much sorted as possible but also to wander round town whilst the girls are in nursery!

TinyTear · 29/03/2015 20:21

Not tomorrow. It is Tuesday...
But I have to go in tomorrow because of the gd to stay overnight.

TinyTear · 29/03/2015 20:23

Sex?
I actually feel guilty because I haven't been helping DH in other ways, ahem...
But just too knackered...

LondonSuperTrooper · 30/03/2015 05:03

Ooooh good luck Tiny! Looking forward to seeing the pics on FB Grin

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 30/03/2015 17:27

2nd sweep done and been for a 2 hour walk.

The midwife I saw today has left a message for the head of midwifery to call me to discuss having an outpatients induction or allowing me into the MLU as a compromise. I'm willing to compromise if they are.

I'm 2cm dilated so at least there's been some movement since Sat

LittleBairn · 30/03/2015 19:22

Yay for the 2cm smiling
I often find the attitude of RULES gets dropped quite quickly when they realise they are dealing with someone who is clued up and willing to fight them on it.
My stock statement is usually something like Your policy is not law nor am I obliged to accept it.

I had to go in for monitoring this morning, bit scary this time because baby was totally still. She was fine but even on the monitor she didn't move much. It was the same midwife, I got the impression she was a bit fed up with me and tried to imply I wasn't picking up her movements. I pick up all her movements thank you very much.
Not helped by the fact I fell out of bed last night, not onto bump and I was certain she hadn't been harmed from it but gave me a shock and I worried that might have affected her.

Shetland · 30/03/2015 20:21

2cm is a good start smiling :)

Glad all us ok little

Hope you're ok tiny Good luck for tomorrow.

My heartburn is never ending today - I should have taken out shares in gaviscon!

36+4

TinyTear · 30/03/2015 20:34

Smiling 2 cm is a good start. Hope thing move quickly for you now..

Little, eek, glad she is OK, but a bit scary...

Shetland I used just boots indigestion tablets, cheaper and also effective...

I'm now in the antenatal ward... Shall hope to get a good night's sleep...
