LondonSuperTrooper · 18/03/2015 08:27

Best of luck Tea! I hope it all goes to plan.

LIG1979 · 18/03/2015 21:07

tea - hope it is going well.

LittleBairn · 18/03/2015 21:16

Tea I hope you are cuddling your newborn right now.

I went back to the hospital today for scan to check placenta and blood flow and to be put on a trace monitor. All is ok there doesn't seem to be any reason for her quietness. This evening she has been fine a bit more active.

I had another vomit/choking moment in my sleep again this afternoon during a nap. nBut I've found the culprit, diluting juice! Something I rarely drink but had both times before I fell asleep it must affect the acid in my stomach.
I will be sticking to water from now on.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 18/03/2015 21:21

It's Garlic that does it to me tiny even the tiniest hint gives me severe reflux.

Glad DD is ok, Beanie has quiet days which terrify me

TinyTear · 18/03/2015 21:50

Quiet days are scary especially this close to the end... Of course then come other worries but that is par for the course...

I am on another 7 day course of antibiotics for my cough... Hope it will work soon... Been reading Dr google and getting paranoid it is whooping cough but I think it's just late pregnancy hypochondria...

LittleBairn · 18/03/2015 21:51

Hopefully it will not be too long for us to meet out babies smiling I just feel now she's safer out than in.
Tonight is my first night on my half dose of Progestrone. DH has forgotten to do my injection I'm not going to remind him, I've been far more active these sat two days with the hospital visits and I'm wearing surgical stockings and on Asprin.

LittleBairn · 18/03/2015 21:52

Tiny ah Dr google is a double edged sword. I really hope it clears up for your its miserable having a cough when pregnant but especially when its so close to the end.

Shetland · 18/03/2015 22:30

I was lucky tiny that my first lot of anti-biotics worked, but I don't think it is unusual to need more than one course. You have my sympathy - it was no fun. I ended up pulling a muscle i was coughing so much and lets not mention my pelvic floor

Hope you are doing ok tea

Glad you're ok little - quiet days are always so unnerving aren't they?

I'm just about to hit the bottle (gaviscon!) and then bed.

LIG1979 · 19/03/2015 08:05

Tiny - frustrating the anti-biotics didn't work. my doctor gave me the option of starting on the stronger ones and I chose to do that rather than risk the 1st lot not working. (Have had lots of chest infections historically.) Getting worried I getting another chest infection as been coughing lots....still hoping it will go away on its own.

TeaandHobnobs · 19/03/2015 17:52

Hello all!

LittleMissTea is here - born yesterday morning, weighing a whopping 9lb 5oz Shock (good thing I didn't go to 40+14, eh?!). That's almost twice DS' birth weight.

I only needed the pessary in the end - had that at 10pm, at 4:30am I started having contractions every 3-4 mins, assessed as 3cm dilated just before 6am, and delivered at 7:13!! Very very intense. But I managed just with gas and air, breathing techniques and DH keeping me from panicking with some hypnobirthing type tricks. Not as if there was time for anything else anyway!

She was a bit grunty to start with, partially because of being born so fast (she is still a bit mucousy today) and also had the cord wrapped around her neck 3 times - so we stayed on the postnatal ward for the day and got discharged home last night.

Just trying to get the hang of feeding now! And learning how to change girl nappies Grin

Hope you guys are all doing ok. Who is next - smiling?

TinyTear · 19/03/2015 17:54

Hello babyTea!!

Girl nappies are easy :-)

Welcome to the world baby tea Flowers

I think I'm next going by dates but beanie is not showing any signs of shifting so may be beaten by tiny or little

I'm now hoping he will stay in for a bit longer, my mum has been diagnosed with shingles in her arm Sad her GP says as long as it's covered she can hold the baby, as it's a secondary infection to the one she already had, the rash is entirely under the skin and she only has 2 blisters which after a couple of days on the antiviral meds should clear which means she won't be contagious but I'm now stressing he will come before she's better Sad

shetland oh I do love a good glug from the bottle before bedtime.

Tea congratulations on the little lady.

smiling don't you worry I've told DD there is queue, she's British its best to start them young. Wink
Your poor mum I had shingles at the beginning of my 2nd Preg its not pleasant.
My charge at the time had not had chicken pox and we were hoping he would catch them from me but despite being with him all day even during the infectious period he didn't get them. But they were on my waist it wasn't like I was going to take my top off!
But you can never be too careful with a newborn.

LittleBairn · 19/03/2015 19:03

Tea when did you start your hypnobirthing? I was wondering of I'm too late to start?
I looked into it earlier but it wasn't appropriate with all the 'it's the perfect time' 'your baby is the perfect size' it wound me up.

Congratulations tea :) What a whopper!

TeaandHobnobs · 19/03/2015 20:13

Not too late, Little - it is mainly a case of practising the relaxation exercises and breathing techniques. If you find the whole thing doesn't work for you, just pick the bits that do. I was rubbish at practicing the deep relaxation this time, as I found I couldn't switch off my conscious thoughts - I was getting lots of intrusive thoughts and images about my dad. But I used what I could. Having a birth partner who knows what to say to keep you focused is a real asset in my opinion - if anyone's partners are sceptical, I suggest looking for videos of hypnobirths where you can see what a key role the birth partner plays.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 19/03/2015 20:29

little you did make me laugh with your being British and queuing comment.

LIG1979 · 19/03/2015 20:56

Well done tea and congratulations on your little girl. 9lb 5oz! impressive with hypnobirthing. was serious considering it but now you mention partner support - our nct lesson doing breathing resulted in us leaving the room as we couldn't stop laughing. Not sure dh would be able to deal with hypnobirthing.

Got a day off tomorrow and a stinking cold. seeing pregnant women so should probably stay away but dd is a nightmare in the house and the downstairs is a building site so fairly sure staying in will be harder than going out.

LIG1979 · 20/03/2015 07:23

help!!! I am a blubbering mess. my mucous plug has gone and I am not ready to have a baby yet!!! (Last time dd arrived 8 days after my mucous plug went.)

The extension is not finished, I am ill, not packed my hospital bag or dd's going away bag and still got 2 days at work.

Shetland · 20/03/2015 08:33

Try and stay calm LIG Can you throw a few things in a bag so you feel a bit more prepared? Nothing you can do about the illness or the extension but work doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things so just get as ready as you can and then you'll just have to see what happens. I think the mucous plug can go a fair while before anything happens. Any twinges or anything?

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 20/03/2015 08:41

stay calm - you could still be weeks. I'd pack the bags just in case, work towards being ready but honestly no need to panic yet.

you can't solve the illness or the extension, what will be will be. Your work will have to suck it up if it does happen, babies come when they're ready not to an employer's schedule.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 20/03/2015 08:42

congratulations, Tea!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 20/03/2015 09:00

lig I lost my mucus plug 3 weeks ago and still no Beanie so try not to panic. Pack your bags so at least you feel prepared, the baby doesn't care about the extension, mine is being born into a completely undecorated house luckily he won't notice Wink you've got 2 days left at work and unless your having contractions you should be fine but if baby comes then tough they will have to cope without you and as for being ill, your body will fight through it us women are quite amazing that way Grin

I've just woken up after sleeping through from 9pm, I can't remember the last time I did that.

Congrats tea!! What a good size that baby is!!

Try not to stress lig there really is nothing you can do, chances are this baby is staying put for a while yet xxx

38 weeks for me today!!!!
