Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 26/03/2015 18:09

little I always thought I would refuse a sweep and put off induction for as long as possible but I am desperate for this baby to be born, mostly because I want to be able to hold him at last but also because I can't help thinking he is now safer out here than he is in there, I have that first trimester paranoia back.

TinyTear · 26/03/2015 18:45

Sometimes in the middle if the night I get some tightening and back pain... But then it passes... Braxton Hicks, I assume...

Not long now

Tomorrow I have the pre assessment so will be talking to obstetrician, anaesthetists, midwives and everyone...

I have to admit at the start I did wake a sleeping baby because she had mild jaundice and I needed to feed her as much as possible to try and keep her out of hospital...

smiling I totally understand where you are coming from I have exactly the same feelings this baby at 37 will be safer out than in.

Tiny I hadn't though of BH. I hope all goes well tomorrow.

I've been it by all day, I have sensitive skin but I've never been itchy like this before I think its because my mum gave me some bedding I hadn't though about her having a cat might set me off.
I've changed my bedding and going to have a showers after dinner see if there is any improvement.

TeaandHobnobs · 26/03/2015 19:12

Little whereabouts are you itchy? I thought "oh I'm just a bit itchy, must be normal", but when the MW sent me to hospital for a blood test, my liver function tests were way off the scale. Pleeeeease tell me you will go and get it checked? Confused

LittleBairn · 26/03/2015 19:26

Tea did you have OC? Did it come on really suddenly?
don't worry I'm keeping an eye on it and after my shower if I'm still itchy I will call hospital. I am mostly itchy on legs, hips and arms from what NHS website says I should be concerned about itchy palms and feet but they are fine.

I am prone to allergies or I would have already called.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 26/03/2015 19:33

little I've got eczema and sensitive skin which has got worse in pregnancy but I echo tea if it's not better after a shower then please call the midwife

LittleBairn · 26/03/2015 19:49

An update DH agreed not good to have a shower it might mask symptoms. So I called Maternity assessment the midwife wasn't bothered, I know her because I've met her when I needed to go in for monitoring.
She says as long as it's not on my hands and feet she's not worried.
I've to make an appointment with GP and get bloods taken and get prescribed piraton.
I do have eczema too but my skin looks fine.
DH isn't happy about just going to GP because we won't get the blood results back for a while.
At least he will be happy for me to go into labour this weekend.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 26/03/2015 21:18

DP and I have had a lovely day together, after seeing the midwife (who I now won't see till after the birth) we went out for lunch, had a bit of a wonder round town then went to the cinema. It was nice to do something that was just us with no stress.

He has to go to work tomorrow and I really don't want him to, I feel unusually clingy and just want him to stay with me.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 26/03/2015 21:21

little I wouldn't worry to much if you definitely have no itching on your hands or feet, I was also told to watch out for my stomach becoming very itchy, If it was me I'd have a cool shower and monitor it, if it gets worse then call the midwife again.

TeaandHobnobs · 26/03/2015 21:32

Yes Little I had OC, but only got diagnosed at 40+4 when the MW asked if my stretch marks were itchy and I said "well I'm a bit itchy all over", so she sent me down to the day assessment unit. It wasn't unbearable itching, but it was mainly my bump, my shoulders and lower back, for about 2 weeks before that point. My feet only starting itching the night before that MW appt.
I thought OC would be really awful itching, the type that made you scratch yourself until you bled, but apparently not.
Annoying that the MW was dismissive - I'd try and get a blood test ASAP if I were you. I'm cross with myself for not mentioning it to my MW sooner, when I think about what could have happened... Though I am trying not to dwell on it, because DD is fine, and the one thing I learned from my counselling after DS is not to dwell on the "could have been"s
I have a blood test tomorrow to see if my liver function is returning to normal. OC can have ongoing repercussions, unfortunately...

LittleBairn · 27/03/2015 06:20

Tea thank you, yes I felt a bit dismissed too because no itchy hand & feet but also because I'm so late into pregnancy. Thank you for speaking up otherwise i would have thouht I was being ott to be concerned.
I will make sure they don't dismiss me agin unless we have proof I don't have OC.
Especially since my mum has a genetic liver condition which is noted in my maternity notes!
As soon as Drs open I'm going to go call for an appointment my surgery is great about giving same day appointments.

LondonSuperTrooper · 27/03/2015 07:05

Thanks for the changing bags recommendations.

Little I hope that you get the itching resolved. Let's hope that the GP will be more useful and understanding than your midwife!

Tiny not long to go now :)

Sorry I can't do more personals, I can't remember what I've read and I'm on my phone & it's difficult to scroll up.

I may be induced on Monday 6 April Shock Will find out for sure after my scan & appointment with the consultant next Thursday. In the meantime, I need to be observed twice a week at the hospital. I also need to start my maternity leave early. Work are so going to love me!

LittleBairn · 27/03/2015 10:02

GP was great, as always I've lucked out with a great surgery.
I've had my bloods taken shes sending them urgent and I should have the results by 5:30pm.

London it sound like things are ramping up for you. Are you looking forward to maternity leave?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 27/03/2015 11:15

Glad your gp is good little and is rushing the results.

TinyTear · 27/03/2015 12:24

Great you have a good GP!! Makes such a difference!

I just had my pre assessment for the section and all is fine. Having regular tightenings but not painful so not in labour, phew :-)

OP posts:
TeaandHobnobs · 27/03/2015 12:42

Little that's really good - I hope they come back clear, but I'm pleased your GP is on the case.
In hindsight, I had other symptoms too, which I only realised when I read the poster in the day assessment unit - dark urine (even though I wasn't dehydrated), and pale stools.

LittleBairn · 27/03/2015 14:52

Tea that's interesting my urine is darker, not worryingly but more than usual. None of the medics have asked me about it so I hadn't linked it.
I hope your blood test cones back clear too.

LondonSuperTrooper · 27/03/2015 18:11

Little have you got your blood results yet?

Yes I'm looking forward to starting my maternity leave. I'm in process of handing over my project & the project manager who's taking over from is being an utter nightmare. I'm dreading my last week at work Sad
Yesterday's appointment was the wake up call that I needed. I've ordered pushchair, car seat, mattress, nappies, changing may and the cotbed changer. Only few items left to order now Grin

LIG1979 · 27/03/2015 18:50

Little - how did the results go? Hope all is well.

Tiny - glad the pre-pregnancy went well. Not long now. What are you going to do with your last weekend as a 3? (I am living vicariously through other people who can plan their babies arrival.)

London- did I miss something in the last few days? How come you need to be induced and leave work early? Very frustrating for you.

Smiling - any progress? I think it is quite normal to want the baby out and they say often people who have had mcs want c sections because of their concerns over getting the baby out. I often felt a bit silly that I was concerned about things going wrong even though both my mcs were before 7 weeks (but the 1st was an mmc so I didn't know till 10 weeks.) I think Google never helped me as by reading lots about mcs I also learn alot about other things that could go wrong..

My latest saga is dd has chicken pox. The last few weeks have been a bit of a joke in terms of my life not going to plan. Glad that dh is on paternity leave to help and now just hoping ds doesn't catch it.

Ds is doing really well and showing no signs of being slightly premature. He has taken to cluster feeding in the evening and then has a period of wakefulness between about 2 and 4 am but he did give me some sleep last night which was nice. He also did really well at his day 5 weigh in so I think the feeding is going much better than it did with dd. I found weigh ins very stressful with dd and I was determined to not let it be that way this time. I still held my breath whilst he went on the scales. He is however asleep most of the time. I can never remember dd being this asleep.

LittleBairn · 27/03/2015 18:56

Results clear, so pleased. Baby is really pushing down tonight and I've had some back pain but I'm trying my to get my hopes up.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 27/03/2015 19:16

little glad your results were clear

lig we've just been through the whole chicken pox in newborns saga because of my mum having shingles. I spoke to 2 GP's and a midwife who all said because I'd had chicken pox so had immunity then DS would have immunity for up to 3 weeks after birth and if breast feeding would be even longer so very unlikely he would catch it, so fingers crossed your DS will be fine, and hopefully DD will be on the mend soon. If she's very itchy a tepid bath with bicarbonate of soda in is great to relieve the itch.

I am really nervous about my sweep tomorrow, but despite feeling like ds is going to fall out any minute judging by the pressure on my cervix (it really hurts) and my back aching he doesn't seem to be shifting himself.

TinyTear · 27/03/2015 20:24

I can't walk very far and with some tightenings today don't want to... So we might just go out for meals, maybe go to Kenwood house where I take two buses and DH walks. I love that walk but too much for me now... DD can choose what to do, bus or walk which will end up in shoulders as I know her well ;-)

TinyTear · 27/03/2015 20:25

I also need to finish packing properly. Packed for the stay but not afters, need clothes and knickers for me in the bag :-)

OP posts:
Shetland · 27/03/2015 21:18

Glad the results were good little

Good to hear DS is doing well LIG Hope he stats pox free and that DD recovers quickly.

Glad your appointment went well tiny

You've been busy london :)
Just focus on the fact that it is your last week if it gets tough at work.

Good luck with the sweep smiling

TeaandHobnobs · 27/03/2015 22:41

Excellent Little I'm really glad Smile
