Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LIG1979 · 07/04/2015 17:01

Glad it is going well. I think the initial lull is designs so men on paternity leave think it is easy and then when he returns to work they wake up more.

had my 1st day on my own today. ds had tummy pain overnight so was up for 3 hours for one feed so feel pretty tired. Hoping it is just a one off rather than more ongoing reflux issues. He does seem ok today and slept whilst I had a girlie lunch Grin .

LittleBairn · 07/04/2015 18:05

smiling are people calling befor they turn up? If so I would have your DH take the call and remind them only to stay an hour.

LIG glad to hear you had a peaceful lunch hope your DS gives you an easier night.

Now excuse me as I crawl around on all fours.... Grin

LondonSuperTrooper · 07/04/2015 20:46

Crawl around on all fours? Don't you have heartburn? I'm even sleeping sitting up & it's utterly exhausting Sad

LittleBairn · 07/04/2015 22:12

London I have really bad reflux, I've vomited twice in my sleep! I'm now on Emozul which is brilliant it hasn't cured it but it helps enormously I no longer have that constant feeling of having food stuck in my oesophagus.

I still sleep on a couple of pillows too, I much prefer to sleep flat with one pillow but dare not risk it.

Have you seen your GP about it?

I didn't manage anything after my walk today, I hit a bit of a wall and suddenly felt exhausted. I suppose I'm just not used to so much walking. Tomorrows walk will be shorter.

Shetland · 07/04/2015 22:40

Hope you get more sleep tonight LIG

I didn't know anterior placentas were associated with back to backs - I might have to crawl around on all 4s myself, just in case!

I've done a fair amount of walking today and then felt exhausted and twingy - probably nothing as it's still early - just a sign to slow down a bit maybe?!
She can't come yet - I haven't got the cot up!

LondonSuperTrooper · 07/04/2015 23:13

Little I'm going to try to see the GP tomortow. Gaviscon is just not helping at all. I always wake up every night needing to vomit. I've been having 2 meals a day, last meal at 3-4pm and it's still not helping.

Shetland for some reason I thought your DD's due date is after Bunny's.

37+2

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/04/2015 08:22

london I found the only way to help the reflux for me was to eat pretty much constantly even if it was just sucking a boiled sweet, if I went longer than 15 mins without something in my mouth I'd start gagging and choking on phlegm. I also found ice lollies really helpful.

DS has teeth, 2 bottom ones that we noticed yesterday but started really pushing through at 3am, I ended up co-sleeping which is something I never thought I'd do because it was the only way he would sleep whilst I massaged his gums.

Shetland · 08/04/2015 08:54

london you just made me check my dates :) I'm due on the 23rd.

I think there's only us and little left?

LondonSuperTrooper · 08/04/2015 11:40

Smiling I'm the opposite of you. I can't eat otherwise I'll start choking. I always have the feeling of something stuck in my oesphogus Sad If I have sweets or chic then I get a lot of bile travelling up my throat. I'm so ready for Bunny to be here!
I can't believe that your DS has TEETH! And that you are dealing with it at the same as a newborn!

Shetland yes it's just you, me and little left. I think that I've got the last due date - 26 April.

I'm feeling ready for Bunny now. Room all done and clothes are currently drying on airers. Just need to put the buggy together and fit in the car seat ??
Oh and I've still got to pack my hospital bag - that's my job for tomorrow.

LittleBairn · 08/04/2015 11:53

London that how I got too if anything the Gaviscon felt like it was making it worse. I had stopped eating much too, it was really worrying DH but it was the only way I could sleep. Don't leave your Drs without a prescription for something decent.
I found sleeping on a V pillow really helped too.

smilng two teeth!

I've been prepared since 36 weeks just incase she came out after the stitch. Nappies & clothes are washed, changing table set up, Amby nest set up, pram & car seat ready and waiting. The house looks like an estate agent is about to pop around and take photos any minute.

LondonSuperTrooper · 08/04/2015 13:40

Little I wasn't able to get an appointment with GP today. Have to try again tomorrow at 8am.
You sound mega ready for the baby! My house is a slight tip at the moment and needs cleaning. I'm hoping to do it on Friday.

Got a busy day tomorrow with 3 appointments at the hospital and an infant resuscitation course in the evening. If I have time time then I'll try going to bravissimo to get some maternity bras. Where did everyone get theirs from?

TinyTear · 08/04/2015 13:48

Oh my goodness, teeth!!! Heard of the mythycal teeth at birth but didn't know anyone with them!

OP posts:
TinyTear · 08/04/2015 13:49

Maternity bras John lewis and marks and sparks...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 08/04/2015 14:06

They are just poking through the gums, the midwife said they will probably stay that way for a while but she has known babies born with an actual fully grown tooth, I'm just glad I'm not breast feeding [ouch]

My milk has come in, anyone got any tips on coping with the pain? the midwifes only advice was to try not to stimulate them. I feel like I've hit the mythical wall today, my breasts hurt, My C Section wound feels tight and sore, my stomach muscles hurt and my back aches but I look at DS and it's all worth it.

I didn't bother with maternity bras I just bought a couple of really supportive non wired bras for day time and a couple of soft t shirt type bras for bed. All from M&S

TinyTear · 08/04/2015 14:39

Sorry smiling, as I am breastfeeding I don't know what to do not to stimulate. Are cabbage leaves on the bra soothing? I have heard of that trick...

OP posts:
LittleBairn · 08/04/2015 15:18

London I got mine from Mothercare its a Blooming Marvelous one.

When my milk came in with DD1 the only way for it to go (i had orginally been intending to donate so i did have a decent supply) was no stimulation but I'm betting that is harder with a newborn because crying would set me off.
I know people say fridge cold cabbage leaves relives the pain but other than that I think most just wait it out.

Shetland · 08/04/2015 15:37

Waiting it out was all I did smiling - did get bloody uncomfortable though.

I am also ready for baby to come now - although I am out to dinner tomorrow night so maybe Friday would be better?! I've just wandered round town - without children in tow - which is something I've been looking forward to for a long time, and it wasn't all that. My back is killing me and even the coffee and sweet treat were a bit shit. Moan moan moan - just ignore me :)
Back home now to chill in the garden awhile before nursery pick up.

LIG1979 · 08/04/2015 15:42

Teeth already smiling? Good job you aren't breastfeedingGrin . I found hot showers helped with engorgement and also painkillers like neurofen. I think the milk coming in causes lots of hormones to flood your system that and the tiredness kicking in means that there is something called 'day 3' when you fall apart. With dd on day 4 I was in floods of tears. Luckily didn't gp through it with ds.

ds has finally woken up a bit and doesn't want to be put down. at least I feel I have a purpose now. dh is having to stay late at work tonight so will be my 1st time dealing with cluster feeding and trying to get dd tea and to bed. It could be a fun evening......on a good note, I got a 4 hour stretch of sleep last night.

LIG1979 · 08/04/2015 15:43

Sorry about all the typos. trying to feed and post Confused

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/04/2015 15:18

Thanks for the nursing bra recommendations.

LIG, your DS sounds super - long may it continue Smile

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/04/2015 15:20

I'm currently at the hospital, they might induce me in the next couple of days!!!! Waiting for consultant to confirm.
I told her that today and tomorrow are not convienient - need to clean my house Blush

LittleBairn · 09/04/2015 16:10

London this is where I went wrong I cleaned my house. I'm going to mess it up now...

So I've been for a hilly walk, ate half a pinapple and am now using the breast pump for nipple stimulation.

TinyTear · 09/04/2015 17:26

Bah, who cares about a clean house. DH can do that afterwards.

Good luck London and well done on operation eviction Little

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 09/04/2015 18:16

I had a clean house before I went into hospital, now it looks like a bombs gone off, there's baby stuff everywhere but I couldn't care less.

LIG1979 · 09/04/2015 21:46

London - did you get a date?

Little - cannot believe you are now having to try and get dd to leave?

Just about to start 3 days on my own with 2 dcs. Really not sure how I will manage especially as it is the weekend too. Going to a local 'stay and play' tomorrow but not sure what I can do at the weekend when most people are with their family. Unfortunately dd does not do 'staying in' or 'watching cbeebies' and her dance lesson is not on due to easter hols.
