Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Been monitored all looked good, beanies heartbeat strong and regular and I was having regular contractions.

Then they did the internal and it started going wrong, they can't feel his head despite an external exam showing he's head is lower so that means no pessary and my contractions stopped Sad

Now waiting to go up to ward where the consultant will examine me and decide what to do from there.

LittleBairn · 04/04/2015 13:05

smiling oh no that doesn't sound good hopefully they can find a solution.

lila goodness not even my crazy nest cleaning has extended to my oven, I'm impressed with your productivity.

I've had a stressful morning. GP sent a letter about concern over my b12 and inform me to have a blood test. Cue panic I've been a vegan I know the serious neurological damage it can do. I was especially worried because recently I've been having a lot hiccups which I raised with my consultant but he wasn't concerned about them.

Called hospital and spoke to a dr who knows me she wasn't worried about b12 because its low anyway in pregnancy but more about the hiccups. F its seizures then she's better being out and treated for them. But she did say it was highly unlikely to be seizures.
She then suggested I bring my induction date forward and tonsoeak to my consultant but he's off until my booked induction. So I'm not sure what to do now.

TinyTear · 04/04/2015 14:06

Oh no, nothing ever straightforward!

Hope you all get better news very soon

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 04/04/2015 16:21

little hopefully it's just hiccups and nothing to worry about.

I am on the ward after more monitoring and a scan to check he is definitely head down, which he is its just not low enough. I've had the pessary and am still being monitored.

LittleBairn · 04/04/2015 16:24

smiling do they put the pessarie inside the cervix or just out of it?
Both times before I've already been dilated so different to just being induced normally.

I hope you meet your DS soon.

LondonSuperTrooper · 04/04/2015 16:56

Good luck Smiling. Any further developments?

It looks like I'm not being induced on Monday Grin but will have to be monitored twice a week.

LIG1979 · 04/04/2015 18:42

Smiling - hoping things are moving again. Thinking of you.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 05/04/2015 12:38

George was born today at 9.28am by emergency c section following an horrific labour. He has already drank 25mls of milk and is now fast asleep.

little the pessary got tucked behind the cervix.

TinyTear · 05/04/2015 12:54

Welcome to the world George!!
Smiling enjoy the rest and take all the painkillers they give you!!

My section was Tuesday, I came home Thursday and been sofa to bed, bed to sofa since...
Had 5 day midwife visit today and she removed my stitches. All healing well...

Congratulations smiling Sorry to hear the labour was horrific - hope you are ok Flowers

LittleBairn · 05/04/2015 14:37

smiling congratulations! I'm so sorry to hear the labour was horrific, I hope you are recovering well from the C-section and you are being well cared for by the staff and your DH.

DAMN about the pessarie, in that case I might need to give serious though to declining inducement.

Tiny that is what always concerns me most about a C-section post natal bowel movements and wind. I know my priorities are screwed up I should be worried about the major abdominal surgery.

LIG1979 · 05/04/2015 14:52

Congratulations smiling on the safe arrival of George. sorry it wasn't the birth you wanted but at least it is all over now and you can now enjoy your little boy.

LondonSuperTrooper · 05/04/2015 17:30

Congratulations Smiling on the safe arrival of George. Sorry that the birth didn't go to plan but I'm sure that this will all be a distant memory.

lila35 · 05/04/2015 18:55

Congrats smiling!!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 06/04/2015 05:03

Thank you.

George is doing well and is an incredibly laid back baby, the midwife is a little concerned as he hasn't done a wee yet but he is feeding well.

Annoyingly the other babies on the ward are all awake which is why I am but mine is sleeping peacefully next to me Hmm

The pessary caused my contractions to start after 30 mins but G was back to back so all the pain was in my back and it was one constant contraction that peaked and dipped. By 10pm I was in such pain they gave me pethidine to be able to do an internal and I wasn't dilating at that point. The pethidine barely touched the pain and at 1am I had codeine and paracetamol by 3am I was begging for an epidural and the pain had spread to my front. All this time G was refusing to me monitored and was being chased by the midwife to listen to his heartbeat which kept dipping. At 8am I was moved to delivery where they broke my waters and put a monitor on G's head but there was meconium in the waters and the trace showed he's heartbeat was still being irratic so it was decided I needed a c section. I was given gas and air whilst waiting for an epidural and was in theatre by 9am. G was born at 9.28. So my drug free home birth turned into a fully medicalised birth, but the main thing is we are both fine.

LittleBairn · 06/04/2015 15:21

smiling I hope George is wee-ing like a champ by now.

I'm a bit fed up, went for a hilly walk this afternoon now I'm trying to decide mow the lawn or steam clean the floors.

TinyTear · 06/04/2015 19:50

Little. What was the decision?
Any movement yet?

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 06/04/2015 21:14

little I was told to scrub the kitchen floor on my hands and knees by 2 different midwives.

We are home and I am completely besotted with my son, I just can't stop staring at him Grin

LittleBairn · 06/04/2015 21:26

Tiny hilly walk. Tomorrow I will scrub the floor on hands and knees instead if steam mop and then I might mow the lawns seeing as its likely not t get done for a while.

Do do feel uncomfortable in the cervical region, I'm wondering if I should give myself a poke...

smiling I'm so glad you are enjoying your DS. I'm impressed you escaped hospital so fast!

LittleBairn · 06/04/2015 21:26

I do not do do.

LIG1979 · 06/04/2015 21:34

Smiling - back to back is horrible - my dd was back to back and ended up being born by ventouse. The pain was horrendous . Ds seemed quite simple, painfree and quick in comparison. Well done on getting home so quickly. Watching them is amazing isn't it? I think that is where the hours go as not sure where time is going anymore. Grin

Little - sounds like the baby is happy for now inside of you. Who would have thought it?Â

Tiny - ouch to the bowel movement. After my piles and stitches I have been regularly swigging the lactulose and fibogel because I am scared what will happen if I don't. (Probably getting a lazy digestive system now.) I hope dd2 doesn't loose anymore weight although you are still below the 10% cut off so hopefully the next weigh in will be ok.

I think we are through are 1st growth spurt. Ds has been a boob monster. Dd was never (and still isn't) bothered by food so it is different to have such a hungry little boy. (Hopefully this also explains why i am starving all the time after months with very little appetite.) Dh returns to work tomorrow so got my 1st day alone with ds. (Luckily dh will take dd to nursery so I can lie in with ds.) Taking him out to show him off to some friends.Â

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 07/04/2015 12:04

lig the pain of back to back combined with the hyperstimulation caused by the pessary was beyond anything I could have dreamed of. My contractions showed on the monitor as staying at 50 and rising to between 138 and 189, peaking for 40 seconds then coming back down to 50, the midwife said normally after a contraction it goes down to round about 10/11.

little don't overdo it and end up exhausted before you go into labour remember you need to conserve some energy.

tiny I'm not looking forward to my first BM, the first wee hurt enough.

I can't believe how laid back DS is, he wakes every 3 hours for a feed, is taking between 30-60 mls each time and then after a cuddle goes back to sleep, I'm not silly enough to think it will last but at least DP and I have caught up on some sleep and feel more human Grin

TinyTear · 07/04/2015 12:39

Yes, there is the lull of the first few days... DD also sleeps and wakes for feeds... The first two nights at home she needed holding a lot but last two nights even managed good stints in the cot...

OP posts:
LittleBairn · 07/04/2015 14:27

smiling don't worry I had the same thought when I was out walking and tempted to do a double loop but thought better of it. Need the energy to get the baby out too.

[Sad] I'm fairly certain DD is back to back, I've heard this is more likely to happen with an anterior placenta.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 07/04/2015 16:58

Then definitely spend plenty of time with your bum in the air little on all fours it helps the baby turn. It did turn DS before labour he just turned back once labour started.

I'm knackered everyone wants to visit which is lovely but they stay until I kick them out. I want to get the visits over so that when mil is away next week we can just chill out at home just the 3 of us.
