I want an all (most) terrain pram too. I have been looking at the graco evo XT as it is sooooo much cheaper yet seems pretty robust. I know that mamas and papas do some reasonable all terrain but our nearest shop has just shut down and I would really want to have a look properly before I buy. After the 20 week scan me and my DP Are going to book a nursery thing at john Lewis to get some 1-1 advice on stuff. Happy weekend everyone

birchwoods · 21/03/2015 06:46

Hi everyone, I hope you're all ok?

I'm on my phone so can't remember everyone's comments!

Joskar I hope your DD is ok? How worrying for you.

I had my 20 wk scan yesterday, all is well! I have an anterior placenta though, which explains why I haven't felt any movement yet...although I think I may have felt a couple of little taps yesterday evening!

Prams...agh, I spent HOURS on the Which? website and watching reviews and eventually settled on the Uppababy Vista, which I ended up getting for a bargain price from Pram Centre as it's an ex-display. I love it! I saw the offer on their facebook page, it wasn't on the website, so may be worth 'liking' a few FB pages to see if any other places do good offers.

I've got a horrible cold at the moment, my first cold in absolutely years, I forgot how crappy they make you feel!

Hooray for the weekend though, going out for pancakes for brunch today, hope I can taste them!!

Equimum · 21/03/2015 11:51

Joskar, I hope your little girl is making a good recovery. That must have been so scary for you all. How old us she?

birchwood, glad to hear your scan went well. Did you find ou t the sex (can't remember if you already knew)?

Frolic, we looked at several of those buggies when we got ours, as we have a horse. Obviously look at them all, but the one thing we spotted (and we're advised in store) was that the iCandy Peach isn't (or at least wasn't) actually an off-road buggy. It is also incredibly heavy. I liked the Jane, although we looked at the slalom R. The only reason we rejected it was that the store assistant couldn't collapse the demo model, so I was bit reluctant to risk it. We ended up with a Mohntain Buggy which I love. I initially rejected it because of the lack of parent facing option (although they do a pod now), but we've been delighted with it. It really does handle tough terrain and goes through deep mud wtc. The rugged design if it also means it can be hosed down easily, which has often been a godsend.

Equimum · 21/03/2015 12:04

Frolic, I didn't mean tht to sound like I thought I am an expert on prams - I'm not. And sorry if it was unwanted opinions. I just wanted to share my experience, and didn't mean to sound bossy or provide unwanted thoughts. Sorry

Fanby · 21/03/2015 13:10

Afternoon!

So pleased your changing table came and is exactly what you're after pinkie! Honestly, you all seem so organised buying/researching prams etc! I tried to drag DH into John Lewis yesterday for a bit of nursery inspiration but he still says it's too soon. We've still got 20days until our scan (not that i'm counting hahaha) so hopefully fingers crossed all goes well, he'll be more inclined after!

Have a fantastic time at Disney on Ice Frolic! I'd love to see that! You must let us know all about it!! You've given me MAJOR cot envy with that beautiful turquoise number, it's gorgeous! Love, love, love the colour.
Did you get a good view of the eclipse? Sadly in London it was dense cloud, ended up being a beautiful afternoon so I went for a stroll around london and popped into the Science museum (getting my geek on). As far as I remember it was a lot more fun when I was little!! :D

How is DD Joskar? That must be so horrible, hope she's on the mend and the whole family are managing to rest up.

Yay for movement mzzzf it's the most amazing feeling! It makes me feel all fluttery too lol. How lovely that your DH has got in on the action too!

How you feeling now dozy? There really are so many bugs going around. My friend and her gf were supposed to be visiting this weekend but they're both sick. Did you manage to make it into work? Also try asos for wrap dresses: www.asos.com/women/maternity/cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=5813&via=top#state=Rf900%3D1465&parentID=-1&pge=1&pgeSize=36&sort=-1

Or George at Asda! direct.asda.com/george/womens/dresses/maternity-nursing-wrap-dress/G005046554,default,pd.html&cmpid=ppc--ad-pla--ggle-pla--Women--GEM361840&cm_mmc=ad-ppc--ggle-pla--Women-_-GEM361840&istCompanyId=2698bd23-149e-43d1-940b-8cc94f7ea571&istItemId=rxwqmwlim&istBid=tztx

OMC Great news on the cot from your boss, how kind!! I'm trying to get as much as I can off my sister :). My niece is now three and she held onto most smaller bits so we won't have to buy things like baby monitors etc which is so handy. Unfortunately no nursery furniture, my parents have her cot still however I figure they should hold onto it for when I visit.

Birchwoods So pleased your scan went well!! How are you feeling? Manage to taste the pancakes?! Ruddy love pancakes...

Joskar · 21/03/2015 15:04

Dd is grand thanks everyone. She was helping me make chocolate banana bread this morning and now she's helping me eat it so all is well. Gorgeous day here. Lots of lovely gardening happening which dd thinks is amazing and huge fun.

Dozygirl · 21/03/2015 17:47

Thanks for the links fanby I'll take a look at those.

I threw up this morning, didn't want to let work down so I went in but then I threw up again, cried like a baby and got sent home. Been in bed with the ipad watching obem from series one haha. Hoping it passes soon, fed up of feeling rubbish.

birchwood hope u feel better soon and enjoyed your pancakes.

6 sleeps till my next scan! Can't wait.

Ahh Dozy, that's rubbish! So sorry to hear you've been pukey. Stay in bed and try and drink lots :( Totally not a fun Saturday night, not that any of us are out raving at the moment!! Hope you feel better tomorrow after a good nights sleep.

Glad to hear DD is better Joskar, very jealous of the chocolate banana bread! A good cure for all ails I think!!

x

Frolicacid · 22/03/2015 09:24

A quick good morning before we hit the shops. Disney on ice was ffab. We had a great time.

Your pram is beautiful dozy. I may take a look at that website.

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling lost at sea on the pram front! So much choice. Thanks for the advice equimum. No apologies needed - that's why I come on here, for the great advice and support. I'm feeling the trider ticks all our boxes, but will have a look at mountain buggy too. I have heard the same about the peach not being a proper all terrain, but want to see the new one in case that's changed and because it's pretty.

We had a great view of the eclipse fanby. Lovely clear sky. I'd post a picture, but none of mine worked! It went very dark and the birds all disappeared.

Glad your d's is better jockstar.

I hope you feel better dozy. Sounds like you may have a bug maybe? Look after yourself.

I had a whole day without any throwing up yesterday! Yippee!! They have been few and far between since December. I obviously just needed junk food and some disney magic.

Happy Sunday everyone Smile

Dozygirl · 22/03/2015 09:31

Yey for the not throwing up frolic.

I 'think' I feel better today fingers crossed. So bored of feeling ill so I hope so. I need to get some fresh air today I think and not be a lazy bum.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their weekends.

mzzzf · 22/03/2015 10:14

Frolic & Dozy hope the sickness stays away today ladies!

Can't believe I'm 22w today, the last month has gone incredibly quickly. I have to wait for ages now for my next scan in June.

Who's got scans soon? I think the 20w one is the best so far as you really get to see the proper looking baby/not alien inside Grin

MumToBe2015R · 22/03/2015 10:22

Hi ladies I'm joining thanks

Mumtobe2015R - 25yrs #1 21wks.

I had my 20wk scan last week all went well saw my little buba moving around. Although a very bad experience with the sonographer.

I have another scan at 24wks (13th april) cannot wait. But only have this extra scan due to needing to have artery dopplers on that day.

Does anyone no what artery dopplers are? And why they do this?

Congratulations to all, hope all is going well for you

em165 · 22/03/2015 10:23

Interesting hearing all the pram talk as me and DP have been doing lots of similar pram related research this weekend! We also go on lots of dog walks but we're leaning more towards buying a good sling for those to avoid having to take the pram along.

Had our 20 week scan on Friday and found out we are expecting a lovely little boy :) Everything with baby is fine but the placenta is currently covering the cervix so we've been booked back in for a scan at 36 weeks to check if it has moved. Fingers crossed it will have. Anyone else in the same situation?

Isabeau1980 · 22/03/2015 11:56

Hi guys, pram wise we're going for a Quinny Buzz. I fell in love with my Godson's one the steering was so light and it works well for where I live and the type of walking I do (riverbanks etc.) Even better there was an in store offer of a €200 reduction this weekend. Happy days Grin

Fanby · 22/03/2015 14:50

Happy Sunday everyone! DH is very hungover today after the rugby, still I dragged him out this morning for some well needed fresh air, what a meanie I am!

Congratulations Em165! Another for team blue :D

Welcome MumToBe2015R!! May I ask what happened with your sonographer? No idea what an artery doppler is!

Ah jealous that you saw the eclipse Frolic, only another 11 years for me to wait lol. I remember being in Portugal for the last one and that was a great view. Glad Disney was magical and you enjoyed it without being poorly!

My scan isn't until i'm 22weeks, fingers crossed they'll be enough space in there, I seem to have ballooned recently haha.

MumToBe2015R · 22/03/2015 19:47

Thank you Fanby

Saw the sonographer on Tuesday, not even a smile to her face! She said she needed to do measurements so she will be a couple of minutes. After which she asked if we want to know sex of baby, we said yes. But as baby was laying on its stomache she was unable to check. In which case she asked me to take a 10mins walk and drink cold water but she also said she could not see baby's heartbeat (which of course worried us) . But came back baby was being camera shy & she also said in which case we didn't get to know, however she said for me to repeat the 10mins walk & have water. Which again I did, came back & she said 'I cannot do the remainder of ur scan now as my next patient is here so you will need to come back in 3weeks'

At this point I was totally upset & angry at the same time. She is telling me she can't see my baby's heartbeat yet she's telling me to come back in 3wks!

To top it off she didn't show me the screen not even once, so I went to the scan and didn't even get to see my baby. Didn't even offer if I want to buy any photos!

The minute I got home I was on the phone to imaging department and spoke to someone in charge and put in a complaint. After which I got a call from the sonographeer 40mins later to apologise and she turned around and said to me 'I didn't mean to say I couldn't see the heartbeat, I meant to say I can't measure the heart due to the position of the baby'

In the end she called me back for same day, baby had turned a little, saw the heartbeat, got some photos & got to see my little buba.

And 2free photos!

Worked out in the end I guess but no one should have to go through something like this, by her just wording it wrong put me through so much anxiety!

So that was my experience of my 20wk scan

Dozygirl · 22/03/2015 22:43

Eek sounds awful mumtobe! How scary. Can't believe she didn't even show u it though. At my scan they have a giant screen right in front of u for u to look at while they look at the normal one. So u don't know the sex now then? Are u gonna get a private one done so u can find out? I've got my 20 week scan Friday and hope they can see what it is although I'll still worrythey've got it wrong knowing me

OP posts:
karatekimmi · 22/03/2015 23:34

Marking my place and will catch up soon.

Glad you got the scan sorted, mum it sounds like someone was having a bad day!!

We've got our scan next week but I don't think they'll tell us the gender here Sad

Loving all the pram chat, although I think DH will make me get one of the 3 prams we own out of the garage instead of getting a new one Sad we do need a new car seat though.

I've had a couple of shandy a since finding out, but less than one a week. Ive given up pate, but most other things I don't eat that much to notice!!

pinkie87 · 23/03/2015 08:22

Oooh so much to catch up on! Welcome MumToBe! Sorry you had a rubbish experience at your scan but glad all is well with your little bub anyway. Did you manage to find out the sex in the end?

Congrats on your little boy Em! Another member of team blue. :)

Prams are a bit of a minefield but my options are rather limited as we both own Ford Kas! So has to be relatively small when folded. We don't have a dog so no need for too much off road stuff but we are going for a Britax affinity I think.

Dozy hope you're feeling a bit better now. A day in bed was probably just what you needed.

Frolic congrats on the no vomiting!! :D really happy for you. I'm also totally jealous of Disney on ice, I am totally a little bit Disney obsessed.

Joskar glad your DD is feeling better now. How worrying.

I had a weekend of wedding dress shopping with my friend for (I am her bridesmaid) and she put a deposit down on a beautiful gown. I am a little anxious now though as she is talking about BM dress shopping and I am expanding at rate of knots! Blush

Sunday was maternity shopping with my sister, and oh my gosh, I am so comfortable this morning in my new jeans and bra! HA! Got some skinnies from H&M and I'm really pleased with them, love this stretchy bump bit!!

OMC1 · 23/03/2015 08:49

Ooh, am thoroughly enjoying all this pram talk - we're going to tackle that in a few weeks time! We ideally need one that has generous adjustable handles, as I am 5 foot and DH is 6 foot 4!

Dozy, your pram is gorgeous - I absolutely love the colours. Are you excited about Friday!? I am almost hopping with excitement! What time is your scan? Mine is at 3:30! I hope you're feeling better now Smile

Joskar Really pleased to hear DD is feeling better now - what a worry that must have been for you! I bet the chocolate banana bread was lovely!

Frolic I hope the no sickness continues!!!

Welcome, MumToBe2015R and congratulations! Sorry to hear you had a unpleasant experience with the sonographer, but glad in the end you got to hear the heartbeat and got the pictures of your baby!

Last night I was sat watching TV and had definite movements (I've been unsure for so long!) but little one was definitely having a turn and a tumble in there - it was so lovely! I can't wait til DH can feel the movements too.

Question; has anybody started talking or singing to their bump?

Isabeau1980 · 23/03/2015 08:57

OMC1 I've started chatting to Peanut. I especially apologised for my erratic heart rate during the Six Nations matches on Saturday. Grin

I've been chatting for a while.

Fanby · 23/03/2015 09:42

Oh MumToBe2015R what a palaver, a bad choice of words from the sonographer!! At least it all worked out in the end for you and bump!

Oh Pinkie how lovely that you're a bridesmaid! I've never been one :(, do you know what colour you're wearing?
Aren't maternity jeans a revelation?! I don't know why I carried on trying to squeeze my way in to my regular jeans for so long!

Yay for movements OMC!! So exciting! I haven't really been talking or singing directly to bump. I have a little sing in the shower and when I read to my niece I figure bump gets the benefits too :)

Dani240 · 23/03/2015 10:18

I'm 19 weeks today and I think that I might be starting to get that fabled second trimester energy boost! I did an hour and a half of doorknocking on Sunday (I agreed to stand in the city council elections in May before I found out that I was pregnant!) and then did three loads of washing and cleaned the kitchen! Long may it last - I'm sick of feeling tired and grotty all the time!

I've got my 20 week scan on Monday and I'm a bit nervous - MumToBe it sounds like you had a terrible time! I can't feel any movement yet but I've just bought my fetal doppler and it's just fantastic to hear their little heartbeats!

lottalouise · 23/03/2015 12:12

Hello all

I've not posted for a little while but glad to see everyone is feeling better and how exciting to hear about the 20 week scans with pink and blue news! I'm 20+4 today but not had my 20 week appointment through yet (I had a gender scan at 16 weeks so already know its a girl). I don't feel much movement at all just a very gentle squirmy feeling so looking forward to those reassuring kicks!

Lx

Equimum · 23/03/2015 12:54

Congratulations to everyone who had positive scan experiences. I'm really sorry that you had sub an awful time soontobe. That's really not want you need in such an anxiety-provoking situation!

Pinkie when is the wedding that you are a bridesmaid at? How exciting.

Frolic, great news that you enjoyed your day and weren't sick.

I've just bought two dresses off of ebay for two weddings we are attending next month. I find it really hard dressing-up while pregnant! Think I may need to join those of you already on the journey over to maternity trousers this week. I had to lie on the bed to do my jeans up this morning!
