Hi Ladies!!!

I found this web a little bit late in my pregnancy, but finally I'm in. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and having a baby boy. It's my first pregnancy and my first experience abroad too. Live in the UK since 2013.
The bump is growing well so far. I've got my next appointment with the GP next week and a scan in my 36 weeks because I've got 2 big fibroids.

I feel heavy know and can't sleep very well to many visits to the loo.
It's very helpful all your comments and I'm happy to share thing with you ladies all in the same situation.
We are so close to see our babies face.

happygojo · 17/06/2015 10:29

I end up in the spare room, which is a luxury I know. I sleep fine until I wake up for my first wee of the night and then my restless legs kick in. I then give up and go to the spare room, where the bed is blissfully cold and I manage to drift off really quickly. Also I know I can fidget and when I know I can move about if I want, I tend to move about less.

Pillow wise I have one to rest my top leg on, and I have a wedge under my bump.

Feeling better about everything today.... well I have stopped crying at least and feel a bit more resigned to everything. I am in work because there is no point me going in sick. It isn't like I have a massive workload expected of me now. So I am doing some low brain power tasks for today and we will be working on my OH's CV tonight. The issue is we have to decide whether he job hunts now, and risks missing out on redundancy (only 3 weeks pay plus 3 weeks notice), or if we wait, get the redundancy and risk having a gap in income. I just feel so useless!

sianihedgehog · 17/06/2015 11:12

mzzf I'm sleeping under an hour at a time. :( wake up every 45 minutes needing a wee. The only time I seem to manage anything over an hour is right before my alarm. I basically want to cry when it wakes me.

OMC1 yep, I even bought a couple but believe me there is NO WAY anything is going in the piercing. It started to tear with a flexible pregnancy thing in at about 23 weeks. It just hurts now because the piercing is like a short tunnel of non stretchy scar tissue and it's stopping the bellybutton popping out at the top. The bottom half has turned inside out and popped , but the top edge is held by the scar tissue. It's 23 years old, so I'm sure it's healed enough that I can probably put jewellery back in when my belly is less stretched!

Fanby · 17/06/2015 11:39

Morning all! All of your tummies and belly buttons sound so pretty! I am hairy with a really long dark line and the biggest outty belly button in the world!! Anyone fancy swapping ;)

Welcome to Expat81!!!

mzzzf: Great news on the scan!! How exciting!! Reading that she's over 5lbs makes it all sound so real!! I'm having massive issues sleeping too! I decided to just get up at 4am this morning as I couldn't lie awake in bed any longer. I'm so hot alllll the time. I went into the garden and did a snail/slug hunt then framed a picture for the nursery...eventually went to bed in the spare room where I feel into a deep sleep with the whackiest dreams and nearly overslept. Not enjoying this at all!

Dozygirl: I didn't think of getting my babyshower organisers a gift, but I think I definitely will (thanks for the idea!), i'll probably go down the scented candle or flowers route! It's in a couple of weeks so i've got a bit of time :) Mine has all been drama drama drama so far which I won't go into as I probably bore you all enough already lol. Needless to say it has probably caused more stress than my wedding so far!!!

happygojo: oh happy, I really do feel for you. Well done for going in, you deserve a medal! I know you might want to be in work to keep busy but just don't put yourself through any unnecessary upset, pleased your taking it easy! I was an absolute hormonal mess when I had to deal with mine and it's only 6 months later that I feel slightly less bitter/upset/grieving etc xx

OMC1: sorry to hear about your reduced movement scare, i'm glad you went in to get it checked out. These babies are causing stress before they're even born!!!

clairexxx · 17/06/2015 12:09

Hi everyone. It's been ages since I've posted! I just don't know where the weeks are going. The second trimester just flew by but now I'm 32 weeks it's going so slow!

How is everyone? I shall read back and have a read at your posts. I had a 4d scan at 29 weeks which was just amazing. My baby girl has my cheeks and nose and my husbands mouth! I couldn't get over the pictures!

I've been feeling very uncomfortable, erm down below! Lots of pressure and back ache too. I saw my midwife yesterday and her head is at brim. Apparently her head is very low down. I've been getting lots of Braxton Hicks too. I'm not sleeping terribly well due to back ache, leg cramps and needing the toilet so I'm just sleeping when I can.

Got the urge to clean the house today, which is not like me at all. I spend far too much time faffing with the decor instead but no, today I need everywhere sparkly clean! Not really sure where this sudden burst of energy has come from. I couldn't do anything yesterday!

pinkie87 · 17/06/2015 15:24

Fanby this past week I have been absolutely roasting. It's so uncomfortable and it actually makes me feel sick. The nature of my work means I have to spend hours every day in a clean room environment, which means gowning up with hat, face mask, scrubs, coat over the top etc! I'm really struggling! Went to the cinema last night and nearly bloody passed out it was so hot in there.

My belly isn't too hairy, but I do have the dark line. It's not hideously dark, but very obvious.

Went to the midwife today, all is fine thankfully. Baby is head down so hopefully he won't turn the wrong way up at this point! Sorry I can't reply to everyone individually, bit short of time at the mo! Will catch up later though.

Fanby · 17/06/2015 16:58

Oh pinkie do not envy you in that work get up! You must be sweltering! What did you see at the cinema? Congrats on the head down! That's really exciting! I think this one is still lying across, seeing the midwife tomorrow so hoping she'll clarify!

Hi Claire! Sounds like you've got the proper nesting bug!! :D The 4d scan sounds super - i cannot wait to see what our little bump will look like!

Off to the hospital tonight for the tour around the labour ward etc, really looking forward to it in an odd way! xx

Lilydreams · 17/06/2015 17:39

Arghhhh just lost a massive post replying to comments on page 38- not writing it again so sorry if it seems like I ignored any comments on that page!!

Mzzzf- I have majorly fallen out with sleep too- it used to be my favourite thing, could fall asleep anywhere any time but not anymore! I have a pillow between my thighs/knees and one between my calfs/ ankles and usually manage to drop off till about 3.30 when I need a wee and hen after that I keep having to swap sides all pigging night, usually getting comfy again just before my alarm as someone else said!! To be honest somehow I'm not that tired in the day I find it most annoying in the night when I just can't get comfy or drop back off and wind myself up- think I going to end up getting up at random times soon! DH said the other day 'I've made an executive decision I'm going to start sleeping in the spare room so you can have more space to get comfy' but I didn't let him because I don't want to sleep separately for the next 8 maybe even 10 weeks! Nearer the time I might take him up on the offer though!

Welcome Expat!!

Fanby- more stress than planning a wedding does not sound good!! It's supposed to be for you to enjoy!

Claire- I've been on a bit of cleaning mission lately which seems silly as we are due to move house soon but never mind it occupies me!!

Pinkie- your work sounds unbearable especially in this heat!! I went to the cinema yesterday too- Jurassic world- loved it!! Although it was nice and cool in our the sodding seats were damn uncomfy I had to keep wriggling round and have a sore back today as a result!!

Oh Fanby- that reminds me I need to book my hospital tour! Enjoy!

I was about to go make banana cake but just realised I went to buy some ingredients I didn't have in before and have forgot the bloody eggs!! Really fancy it too with some custard- which I did remember to buy! Might see if DH will grab some on the way home I can't be bothered going back out!!

Frolicacid · 17/06/2015 19:15

Thanks omc. My rotten mood won't shift. I've tried treating it with chocolate digestives, but no progress yet! I'm pleased to find another member of the hairy, starey belly club.

Sorry about your movement scare. Very pleased it was all ok for you when monitored.

mzzf, siani and everyone else having trouble sleeping, that's really crap. I'm waking up twice for the loo, but generally sleeping fine each side of that. My leg cramps are better which helps. I still feel tired all the time, no matter how much sleep I get. I definitely recommend a pillow under the bump to support it.

Welcome expat.

Glad you are feeling better today happy.

Welcome back claire. I am also suffering an uncomfortable undercarriage. Not from pressure, but I think it's generally just swollen and sweaty . My only advice at this stage is not to look in the mirror!

Enjoy the labour ward tour fanby. I once took a young person I was working with on one of those before she gave birth. It was really busy and all you could hear was screams and grunts! It terrified to poor girl. I hope you don't hear too many scary sounds tonight Smile

Mmmmmmm to banana cake lily. I've not done any baking since being pregnant due to the sickness, but I might have to give that a try this weekend.

mzzzf · 17/06/2015 20:44

Hahahah to sweaty fanjos Frolic!!! I think we're all experiencing a bit of Fetty Swannies with this heat Grin

Oh yes to having a bit of a bake this weekend - I might go scones. Mostly so I can get the clotted cream down my gullet!!!! Anyone else up for baking?

And good sleep wishes to all you lovely ladies tonight too!

Frolicacid · 17/06/2015 20:47

I hope the pooch is still getting better mzzf?
Here is frolicdog having a nap in her favourite spot Smile

August 2015 part 3
mzzzf · 17/06/2015 22:16

Awww man, she's a beaut! I love spaniel noses Smile Prior to these two, I only had spans.
My brown furry baby is slowly adapting to being wonky and is definitely on the up, the relief to be heading back to normality is HUGE!

I think dogs/pets can teach us how to be good mummies, we have to 'know' what they want despite being unable ask them. I really hope these two and the baby all get on.

Dozygirl · 17/06/2015 22:20

Yey a frolic dog pic! Love it. Gorgeous dog.

Omc glad all was well when u went in. The movements thing is such a cause for paranoia but defo worth getting checked out. Yes I do have a sca booked for 36 weeks for low lying placenta. I keep forgetting about it though! When I went for private scan after 20 weeks scan they said I didn't have a low lying placenta at all so I'm feeling quite relaxed about it and at least it meant an extra scan :)

Sorry some of u are struggling with sleeping. I find it hard to get comfy now and turning over is such an effort and hurts my bump. But I generally sleep quite well once asleep except for now needing to get up for a wee around 4-5am which I have never needed to do ever in my life! Hope it's not forever. However I realised at 4 am this morning that we'll all be having to get up at various times throughout the night anyway soon for completely different reasons so I may as well get used to it haha. Gonna have to get used to waking up, doing feeds and then trying to get back to sleep again. I'm not so good at that part once ive woken up. Tried using a pregnancy pillow but I jist find it gets in the way rather than helping me. I just cuddle a cushi on instead , that seems to help haha.

Fanby candles is a great idea. Thanks for that! I think I've invited too many people to mine. I have different groups of friends and with family as well I've ended up with 36 people coming! Didn't want to offend some people by not inviting them. Didnt think they'd all say yes but only 3 people aren't able to make it eek! 5 of those 36 are little people thoigh like nieces etc so they shouldn't take up to much room lol. Having a work babyshower too but not enjoying organising that one because I'll feel if noone comes then it's because noone likes me. Everyone is waiting to see what the rota is first before committing.

This week has been pretty good so far after feeling down last week about work etc. Another long shift today but it was manageable and I feel like maybe I've got a random second wind from somewhere. Only 10 shifts lefts to go in the next 3 weeks whoop!

expat welcome. What's your due date?

Dozygirl · 17/06/2015 22:21

Oh and I tried to cut my toe nails yesterday. I only just managed to do it, it was very hard work to get in the position to do it. I don't think I'll be able to persuade dp to do it, he hates my feet as it is so I've asked my mum or dad to help me haha. Oh the joys!! like being a kid again.

OP posts:
Lilydreams · 18/06/2015 06:43

Frolic dog is gorgeous!! Looks like she knows you needed cheering up!

Dozy- glad work is more manageable- I seem to have got a second wind in the last few weeks too- despite sleeping worse I feel much more energetic!

What is the deal with how sore my arm is from that damn whooping cough injection!!??? I've hardly bloody slept as I kept forgetting and turning over onto to it then having to turn back- and we all know how much effort that takes at the mo!!!

Just got stuck in bed too Shock and genuinely panicked!!!! DH has left early for work so I had spread out onto his side a bit and somehow tucked half the duvet under me round my back- couldn't get out his side as I wasn't close enough to swing my legs out and obviously couldn't roll onto my front and couldn't roll backwards as the duvet trapped me!! Had to wriggle it down over my feet to make my escape! I have a feeling today is not going to be a good one!!!

pinkie87 · 18/06/2015 08:15

Aww frolic your dog is so lovely! I've always loved dogs but we just don't have the time. Hope you're not feeling too crappy still!

mzzf I'm officially on the healthy eating wagon so no baking for me (I did make a key lime pie last weekend though, yum!). MW has informed me I'm getting weighed at my next appointment. So I thought I'd check my own weight at home (finally) so it's not too much of a shock at the appointment. Sadly I'm absolutely huge so cutting out junk as of now, should have done it several months ago!

Dozy really glad to hear work has improved for you! Especially with your mammoth shifts! I'm not doing so great this week, but I guess it comes in waves. So hoping for a better one next week.

fanby & lily I saw Jurassic world too! It was pretty good but will never compare to jurassic park (first film I ever saw at the cinema, so it holds a special place in my heart!).

fanby hope your labour ward tour went well, and you didn't hear too many screaming ladies! Wink

Did you get your banana cake lily? It's one of my favourites! Although so is most cake, which is obviously why I'm now in this predicament of panicking over my weight! Hope your arm's better too, I have my jab in 2 weeks, not looking forward to it!

claire I really hope this urge to clean strikes me at some point. Currently just wanting to do nothing when I'm at home, not sure DH is enjoying doing all the housework, but he's not complained yet!

My hypnobirthing book and CD arrived yesterday. Not listened to the CD yet as I need to put it on an mp3 player but started reading the book and I'm actually really impressed so far. It tells you about what actually happens in labour physiologically, including what your uterine muscles do and which hormones are involved, which is something I have never really been told about. I feel like understanding what's happening is the best way to keep calm about it all! I thought it would be all hippy dippy but loving the actual biology of it so far.

clairexxx · 18/06/2015 08:24

How is your dog Mzzzf? I'm was so sorry to read your posts. Such s worrying time. I adore animals and I'm terrible without a dog. I've always had a dog since I was born. I used to tell people when I was little my dog was my best friend! Longest I've been without one was 4 months and it was awful. Trouble is they do end up breaking your heart! I have a collie, who is 6 but acts like 6 months old. He is fiercely loyal and very overprotective towards me at the moment. A van stopped to ask for directions the other day when we were out walking. He only opened the window but my dog was growling! I'm sure he knows I'm pregnant. He is being so gentle with me and rests his head on my bump!

How is everyone today? I woke up early again with leg cramp so had to get up. Im feeling so excited now! Can not wait to have my baby here. Smile

OMC1 · 18/06/2015 08:46

Hi, Expat welcome to the thread!

Glad to see you back Claire! Glad to hear you had a lovely 4D scan! Sorry to hear you're feeling uncomfortable; I am starting to feel the same as well! Can you give me some of that energy, though? I still have zero!

Aaaaah, Frolic your dog is adorable! Hope you're feeling better!

As of today I officially have three weeks left at work! I am sure it will go quickly; absolutely can't wait to break up and stop having to wear proper clothes!

OMC1 · 18/06/2015 12:35

I'm sat at my desk watching my bump ripple & roll through my dress, it really is the best, but weirdest experience...

happygojo · 18/06/2015 13:35

I have 3 weeks left in work too.... but with the redundancy news (which we have now found out could drag on until the end of September and possibly beyond), I have very little to do. I haven't even had any emails asking me to do anything..... it is actually soul destroying.....

I also sit at my desk watching my belly ripple..... gives me something to do anyway

Fanby · 18/06/2015 16:23

Afternoon ladies!

Just got back from my midwife appointment. All is fine-ish, lovely to hear baby's heartbeat as normal :). My platelets have dropped so they took another full blood count, I guess i'll get the results in a week or so. The thing that worried me the most is baby is lying in a oblique breech position and i'm just hoping she'll turn. I'm 31+5 so I guess there is plenty of time but i've done that classic thing of going online and reading about it and freaked myself out. Any tips on turning ladies?

Happygojo – that is so harsh to drag it on. Have they told you you're at risk yet? If they have then you can ask them to bring it forward (if you want to!), that's what my colleague and I did as we didn't feel we could cope with the stress.

OMC1 – I LOVE watching my belly move and ripple it's absolutely fascinating!

pinkie87 – ahhh i'm so desperate to see Jurassic World! Even though it's had bad reviews I fancy the Entourage movie too as we were big fans of the tv show! The last film we saw at the cinema was Mad Max and bump hated the loud noise and drums.

Dozygirl – wow that's a baby shower and a half. I think it's lovely, so many people want to share your happiness and give baby Dozy a lovely welcome to the world!
I actually still get my mum to cut my toenails when I can lol, even pre-pregnancy! She just does such a better job :D :D

Frolicacid – Oh I love Frolic dog, look at that face! That sounds like a great education for your 'work experience' person – there were no screams of labour but a massive fight had kicked off in the post natal ward between two families, it was pretty shocking. The midwife was MORTIFIED!

Lilydreams: How the arm today? I got some good advice about having it in the right arm so I could still lie on the left. In other news you've made me crave banana cake, i'm home this weekend so i've put an order in with my mum, she makes the best lol! Never had it with custard though – sounds divine!

pinkie87 · 18/06/2015 16:43

Fanby only got time for a quick message to say, get on spinningbabies.com! Lots on there. What even is oblique breech?

Lilydreams · 18/06/2015 16:56

Pinkie- didn't end up making banana cake as SIL came round to tell us she's pregnant!! Sooooo excited for them- she's only 22 so was a shock to us and she was terrified telling us bless her but they planned it just got surprised it happening the first time!! Gonna be 6 months between there's and ours (it's very early so they are only due in February) but they will be in same year at school and will be so nice to have a cousin for our LO same age!!

I really liked the biology side of my hypnobirthing book too, pinkie- it made so much sense to me as well when it talks about been relaxed and muscles being relaxed equalling less pain not quite as hippi-ish as I expected and very rational!

My arm is stil killing, came home from work early and had a 2 hours sleep- dunno if it was side effects of jab or just I was really tired because I didn't sleep properly but felt so drained! Bit better now I'm up! Not bothering with yoga tonight though, seems silly when I can't move my arm!! I had mine in my left because although I've tried as much as possible to sleep that side as suggested I can't get that comfy and toss and turn loads anyway so thought I may as well at least have my more comfy side to get minimal sleep on!!

Fanby- there's plenty of time for baby to turn yet but I would have done the same as you! From what I have read swimming is good, as is being on all 4s like cat/cow yoga position and sitting forward/ not slouching so knees are below hips- that's why birthing balls are often recommended. If you google there will be plenty come up I'm sure there a whole sight dedicated to turning them from what I've read.

OMC- I know what you mean about stopping wearing proper clothes- I have a uniform and have been wearing only the tops for months with a pair of maternity trousers I got to look like my work ones, also ditched my work boots a few weeks back as they were aggravating myankles and giving me calf cramps so wearing trainers- yet this last week im starting to get uncomfy even in that!! Plus I've only got 2 notches left to widen my belt which I have to wear under bump as have to have keys attached to me at all times- thinking I'm going to have to source a new belt before I finish in 6 weeks! Then I'm going to loll around the house in the GIANT maxi dress that I won on eBay- a shame really it's gorgeous but I got it in a size 10/12 (usually an 8) and it isn't a fitted one so looks lovely until I turn side on and then just appears to be a huge tent from top of bump to the floor!! Shock so not wearing it in public but will do for weeks before d day especially if we have more hot weather it will be lovely!!

Happy- I know the feeling of sitting at a desk with nothing to do!! People say to me 'don't complain you getting your normal pay for nothing it's great' but after a few days it gets very tedious and the days drag! I can't do my normal job pregnant so we always get shoved in a office and there generally isn't that much work as it isn't a proper position that needs filling if that makes sense, I'm generally quite good at keeping busy and stealing work off the admins in there but today there was literally nothing- another reason I came home early- occurred to me why am I sitting here feeling awful when I've not even got anything to do!! No one minds either, none of the managers keep track of my hours and often tell me to go home if they know there's nothing to do anyway!

Sorry my posts seem to be getting longer and longer, keep trying to make sure I reply to everyone!!

mzzzf · 18/06/2015 18:37

Fanby - my bump was breech until 33, and full breech too!! I didn't do anything special, and she's now turned of her own accord. I do remember one night in bed though thinking I must have the worst wind ever (TMI!) as it was a painful twisty feeling but I think that was her turning!! Don't panic until 35 weeks for breech babies Grin

The belly moves are great aren't they ladies, I've videod my stomach a couple of times and sent the clips to my parents - they love it!! It's wonderful but it does freak me out still, in the sense that she's gotta come out!!!

Dozy - that's a giant baby shower!!! What a great party that will be! I've decided against an official shower so instead I'm just having 5 of my closest mates round to eat cake and chat. It's also doubling as a bit of a going away party as I'll be moving to the other end of the country a few weeks later.

OMC - real clothes are pump! Thankfully I've been able to wear what I like, I've been living in yoga pants and stretching vest tops!

Happy - is there anything proactive you can do at work? Use this time to do your cv up? Ask for redundancy to be brought forward for you?

The pooch is deffo on the mend, she's got a bit more confident at walking around without an escort and I caught he punching food out of her sister's bowl so things are deffo on the up!!

Frolicacid · 18/06/2015 20:31

Feeling much less grumpy today!! Thank you everyone for your lovely comments about frolicdog. She really is a beauty I know I'm biased !

Glad your pooch is getting better mzzf. Stealing food must be a good sign. You must be so relieved. Let's hope the fur babies Are ok when the real babies arrive.
I'm loving how protective your dog sounds claire. He obviously knows something is going on. Frolicdog went through a phase of not liking DH touching my bump, but seems over it again now.

Yippee to 2 weeks at work OMC! And to watching bump ripple and roll! I'm obsessed! Feeling much more wriggles than kicks these past few days. Room is obviously getting tight.

Your baby shower sounds lovely dozy. You'll have a lovely time.
I'm glad you're feeling better this week. I think I'm a week behind you, so maybe that's why I've been grumpy. It must be lovely for you to be counting down your last shifts now.

I laughed a lot at your stuck in bed story, sorry lily! There is a thread about a lady getting stuck in the bath in pregnancy today. Such a special time!!

Yours and pinkie's hypnobirthing books sound fab. I like the idea of understanding the biological side a bit more. Which books did you both get?

fanby, your hospital tour sounds interesting!! I've no idea about breech babies, but looks like there is plenty of good advice here for you as usual.

Epic post!! Sorry if I've missed anyone. Friday again tomorrow Smile! Anyone else feel like the weeks have started to go quicker? The first 25 or so felt like an age, but things seem to be moving so quickly now. I'll be 31 weeks tomorrow.
