Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EmilyTurner · 29/10/2006 11:31

Oh no. She came just before 38 weeks and was 8lb 6 on Oct 19 2003. So I feel I am already VERY late!

The key to labour is a postive mental state. You really have to believe you can do it.

EmilyTurner · 29/10/2006 11:43

I should have mentioned that she was due same date. So was around 38 weeks when she appeared. Naturally I felt sure this one would be early too.

DogMum · 29/10/2006 12:00

Can't believe we've got another thread ...

Like you Clon, I hadn't thought of induction as a real possibility until now. Then of course, c-section is more likely. If I end up going that route, I'm hoping to avoid an epidural to reduce the likelihood of c-section. DP and I had a discussion about it last night and by this morning I was quite calm - however the baby needs to get out, so be it. I want a healthy baby and if I can't have one, I want it not to be my fault - if that makes sense.

Having read your post, Marthahm maybe I shouldn't be getting so hung up about things at all. Congratulations on the arrival of your daughter. Have been thinking of you and now really glad that all is well.

Good luck to all of those with contractions and other symptoms, as well as those yet to start.

BENDYB · 29/10/2006 12:37

she was due same date emily?!! strange!
Yeah u must b gettin really fed up then!

Still have had no more signs this mornin! Gonna go & try walkin again!

DashingRedhead · 29/10/2006 12:38

Good afternoon all! Thanks for the tip about the positive mental state EmilyT, I really do feel quite geared up and just hope I can hang onto that. DH is so excited and impatient now, wants desperately to see his little one. I have been bouncing on the ball, have tried sex and this morning started eating pineapple.

I thought we were getting somewhere today because I woke with vague pains that didn't stop after I showered, but nothing much happening now. My mum told me to stop thinking about it and not to worry about induction. Bless her, she has never been this calm and together about anything, but she's doing me the world of good!

youngmum21 · 29/10/2006 13:46

hi all still nothing here i guess she not going to appear today but i think i had a bit of a show earlier it looked like snot but no blood and there was only abit but fingers crossed lol!!!

OP posts:
BENDYB · 29/10/2006 13:59

got my fingers crossed 4 u youngmum!

youngmum21 · 29/10/2006 14:04

thanks bendy, am trying not to get my hopes up but it seems now im just looking for signs oh im so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt think it wud be this bad!!!

Sorry feel like having a big moan bout it even though i know some of you are ova due and prob think i shud just get on with it

OP posts:
BENDYB · 29/10/2006 15:04

yeah thats what i was just sayin 2 dp, didn't think the waiting would be so bad! & just knowing that it could start at any time! I think u do just look 4 any lil sign that it might b startin!
I wanna have a big moan 2! & a big big scream! But i wont lol! Yeah think of the people who r actually overdue!
Think the best thing we can do is try not 2 keep thinkin bout it, & just think they will come when they ready! That is easier said than done tho!
Have u got a gymball?

Swizzler · 29/10/2006 16:24

Best wishes to all of those waiting - try not to worry about what might or might not happen (easier said than done. I know!). I was worried about medical intervention as well Dogmum, but in the end was v glad I was in hospital and being monitored as they acted v quckly once W started getting distressed. Doctors aren't necessarily bad

Popsi · 29/10/2006 17:21

Still here too - went swimming this morning, had pineapple for lunch & meant to go for a walk this afternoon but fell asleep instead! Still nothing.

EmilyTurner · 29/10/2006 19:46

I've just realised I haven't taken my iron tablets for two days and that is why I feel so tired! What a moron.

Went for a walk today and have had very sharp pushing pains really low down but NO contractions at all today! Oh how I am wanting that sweep on Tuesday!

taffy101 · 29/10/2006 20:27

Its so frustrating isn't is all this waiting around!! Went for a big walk today but nothing has happened. I'm trying to think what I did with myself last pg when dd was 8 days late (i'm only 4 days late so far) - think it was really nice weather (july) and I sunbathed in the garden - MW even commented on my tanned legs!
I stood next to the moses basket last night saying come on baby you've only got to move from here to there - how hard can it be? Obviously a stubborn one like big sis.

Good luck everyone who's left - wuzz must have had hers by now.
Strange about the late october babies emily - but this thread absolutely proves the theory!!
Bendy you'll be on your way soon - sounds like the same sort of pains wuzz had on friday and we've not heard from her since.

Might go and vaccuum the whole house, again...

youngmum21 · 29/10/2006 20:38

Thanks emily nearly forgot to take my iron tablet but you reminded me!!!

Well today is nearly ova and nothing looks like it going to happen today!!!

OP posts:
BENDYB · 29/10/2006 22:08

still here, still fed up!

Nothin at all has happened 2day, Baby hasn't stopped wriggling bout tho! Hopefully he's tryin 2 get out!

Hope every1 is ok & not 2 fed up, good luck if anythings happenin 4 any1!

Cant wait 2 hear some news from wuzz!!!!

DashingRedhead · 30/10/2006 07:36

Well, I think (hope, pray!) that I'm finally started. Woke up at 3am with a contraction after another false start yesterday evening. It's definitely a different sensation! They've been coming every 10-15 minutes since then and have been hotting up a bit in the last half hour, though still very bearable. I suspect that, pain-wise, this is just the tip of the iceberg, so am not going to say anything too stupid!

I have phoned the midwife and she says yes, it sounds like very early stages, so we just have to keep our fingers crossed. DH hasn't gone to work, so that's one advantage of losing 4 hours sleep! As we tried a variety of different tactics yesterday for getting started (sex, pineapple, long walk and Beethoven symphonies), I can't say which one it was that worked, but never mind.

Hang in there ladies - your time will come. After all, I'm only 4 or 5 days late, which isn't that much really, however much it might seem...

I'll send you an update later this morning.

youngmum21 · 30/10/2006 08:25

drh- looks like things are finally happening for you so gud look let us no how it going if your still at home!!!

Nothing here still sp guess ill just get on with normal everyday life lol!!!!

Hope every one else is ok??? xx

OP posts:
purpleluce · 30/10/2006 08:44

morning all purpleluce here and due yesterday like youngmum! As per predictions though not hope! am now officially od like I was with number one.

On/off frustrated, was obsessed first time so really trying not to do that this time and really believe in my body as last time went a week over and when it hapenned it went really well and clearly baby was ready to come then.

Had reflexology on Friday and more booked for tomorrow - although dont think honestly that any of these things will make it happen unless it is ready to happen, but being a control freak is hard not to try! Even considering going on dd1's trampoline if pelvic floor could hold up Have had no discernable symptoms - the odd twinge, bit of a draggin sensation but I can usually rationalise it all away and nothing lasting yet.

good luck redhead, keep us posted

youngmum21 · 30/10/2006 08:59

well i dont really fancy a halloween baby wot bout you u purpleluce??, i guess ill have to accept she will prob be a nov baby which is so getting to close to xmas and dp will be spoiling her even more!!!!

OP posts:
marthahm · 30/10/2006 09:09

my sympathies to you all. it's no fun waiting, especially when you're so exhausted.
dogsmum don't panic re induction. there is a long process they go through before they get anywhere remotely near thinking about c section. you get 4x prostin gel plus sweeps at six hour intervals so that gives you at least 24 hours. then you get your waters broken, then a drip. and it's only right at the end of this that they'd consider c section. the only truly major bummer is that it's highly likely you'll need an epidural if you are induced.
by the way to all considering reflexology, whilst strapped to the monitors dh tried prodding the reflexology point on my big toes and guess what-huge surge in contractions! you could always have a go at that if you're fed up with sex and pineapple.
sending out big sympathy to those of you desperate to meet your lo's.

purpleluce · 30/10/2006 09:11

I am ok with Halloween - my friend has a birthday tomorrow and it means everyone remembers the date and what a good excuse for a party.

Realistically we will both have babies with a clear 6 weeks before Christmas at worst won't we so it is better than for many!

Mind you, if you go for a second (I already have an early October dd so am pleased there is a reasonable gap between birthdays) i would go for March to May as I think it is the ideal time for a. mat leave - get summer off and b. presents that can be used outside. But hey, guess I should have thought of that 40 weeks ago

Top tip that you can do (and I may as dd is in nursery) is go to cinema on your own while you are waiting...I like it as it is me time and I feel decadent if a bit embarassed when I walk out with choc ice cream all down my bump like last week but since having dd just dont go to cinema as when we actually do get a babysitter I want to get p~~sed not go to the cinema so you never know when you may get to go again!

BENDYB · 30/10/2006 09:56

mornin every1!

Good luck DashingRedhead!

Its my due date 2day! No signs of anything happenin so far! I'm just tryin 2 get on with things & 4get bout it! I would love my lo 2 b born 2mora on halloween, Its my sis bday then aswell so would b nice!

Every1 else ok?

Popsi · 30/10/2006 10:51

lol purpleluce - I can just imagine me coming out of cinema too with chocolate everywhere! Was actually going to go today but DD is ill - not the chicken pox, just a tummy bug so have kept her off nursery. Might make it later in the week - what did you see - any good?
drh - good luck sounds promising.
Am in for an exciting day today of CBeebies on the sofa - if I try to get anything done DD cries for me to come back & cuddle her!

youngmum21 · 30/10/2006 11:04

i neva really thought of going to the cinema on my own before i guess i cud it only 5 min in the car from my house!!!!

i guess 6 weeks before xmans isnt to bad just hope that by then me an lo will be settled as will prob be at my parents for boxing day and as there is an extra one this year things will b even more hetic this year!!!! there b 10 of us 7 adult and 3 kids
