Super, I was saying just that to DH last night. I had a very obvious bump. I was trying on clothes for a wedding I have today (not much fits!) and I definitely looked pregnant!

Toast85 · 18/04/2015 10:10

In the last week mine has stopped going away by the morning, like it did a few weeks ago when it was only really noticeable in the evenings- now it's there all the time! Proper mini-bump now.

toast we went for icandy - pushed quite a few around and practiced putting them up and down and the icandy seemed the easiest to me - also sister in law has same and loves it. At the end of the process all hubby could talk about was the cup holder he had got them to throw in for free! Probably worth a whole fiver haha. Other ones we liked were bugaboo chameleon and the mamas and papas armadillo. I've seen a few people recommend uppababy but we were pushed for time and none of the shops we went to stocked that one.

super yep definitely fatter in the evening! Went out for dinner last night actually looking a little pregnant, was weird! Feel strange wearing tight things though as think I could just look like one of those people whose shape means that they naturally look a bit pregnant - I find myself trying to suck in a lot which I need to stop as it is a completely unsuccessful exercise and is killing my stomach muscles!

batfish · 18/04/2015 17:20

Oh and also when naked I just look fat and my 'bump' has no real shape but when I put on maternity jeans and vest it seems to go bump shaped!

Stinkersmum · 18/04/2015 19:00

Well, had another scan today and test results for t21. Scan looks good and results were negative GrinGrin

Still holding my breath a little for the 20 week scan but so far so good. Dates have changed again though. In line with my LMP and the measurements taken today I'm a week further than last thought, so now 14+4. The baby has big feet Shock

Despite looking bigger and more pregnant in the evenings it would seem that I look pregnant all of the time now as my DS decided to tell me that I have a proper bump now and he can really see it (I was wearing leggings and a fitted top today whereas I usually wear loose shirts). I definitely wasn't this big at 14 weeks with my first two pregnancies.

orangeshortbread · 18/04/2015 22:06

I too seem to have a bigger bump in the evenings and I'm finding that it gets very achey at night. Is this when it does most of the stretching?!

Fabuluce · 18/04/2015 22:13

All of a sudden today I too seem to have grown a little bump! 12 weeks today and this is my first one, is this normal? I wasn't expecting it to kick in until a few weeks time...of course it could just be wind though...

Toast85 · 19/04/2015 05:43

Fab I think we're all different but I started noticing some kinda bump at around 12 weeks too :)

Does it run in families whether you show earlier or later? My mum said with her first she had a bump fairly early and I believe I am too now with my first, but I know some ladies get to keep their shape for a while longer.

Ladypug · 19/04/2015 07:36

I've been having a bump at night the normal in the morning but in the past 48 hours seem to have a constant noticeable bump! X

Fabuluce · 19/04/2015 07:43

I'll check with my fam then Toast, thanks for the heads up. I know my mum won't remember at all (memory of a goldfish!) and I have a feeling my sister had someone passing comment on how big her bump was at 3 months despite having lost a stone due to terrible morning sickness poor thing. Why do people feel the need to be rude all the time?? A bump is a bump and is a sign you're growing a human! A good thing surely??

Toast85 · 19/04/2015 08:58

We're off to an nct nearly new sale today to see what bargains we can pick up- no idea what we are looking for but thinking of it as 'research' as much as anything. Then off to town to 'research' travel systems etc. all feeling a bit more real now that I've hit the 2nd trimester!

OP posts:
Superexcited · 19/04/2015 10:11

A growing bump is most certainly a very good thing. It's very reassuring to be growing because at this stage I am not feeling any movements and won't be for weeks yet so it's nice to see that things are progressing. I have lost over half a stone but my bump is growing and my regular fitted clothes don't fit any more.

batfish · 19/04/2015 12:35

Yippee stinkers so happy that all is looking good after your early scares.

Exciting toast - let us know your findings! I feel a bit disappointed now I've already done the pram thing and we sorted it all in a day, what to look forward to now?!

Toast85 · 19/04/2015 17:52

Bought a sleeping bag and a few vests and babygrows at nct sale- not much neutral coloured stuff there though and it was mostly clothing there.

Travel systems- we think our fave was the uppababy vista, but did like mamas and papas armadillo xt for it's ease of folding and lightness. Other contenders are the bugaboo chameleon and Icandy peach 3 but I think maybe they have more features than we'll strictly need, and we could get something just as useful for a little less money with the armadillo or the vista.

Liked the look of the Cosatto giggle which has some money off in mothercare, with car seat included, plus it's very funky and bright, but couldn't work out how to fold the thing and couldn't find a salesperson to ask either!

Anyway we do now have some things to think about and prioritise what we need/want to help make a decision.

Toast85 · 19/04/2015 17:56

The thing that's really bothering me is where baby will sleep!!

Moses basket- I guess good in that it's portable and could move downstairs for daytime naps, but how long before baby grows out of it?

Cot/crib- we could fit one in our room and would (I think?) last longer than Moses basket before baby is too big and wriggly for it, but can't move it during the day so would prob want Moses basket as well anyway, or something similar for daytime sleeps.

OP posts:
Toast85 · 19/04/2015 18:16

Sorry it was the armadillo flip xt, not just armadillo! Complicated!

OP posts:
Superexcited · 19/04/2015 18:19

toast we had the whole where will baby sleep dilemma. We didn't want a Moses basket because dc2 was 10lb at birth and wasn't in his basket for long but we can't fit a full size cot in our room. We have decided to go for a compact cot (90cmx50cm). The compact cot should last us 9-12 months so is the perfect size.

Toast85 · 19/04/2015 19:25

Sorry probably a silly question but where does baby sleep in the daytime? Not that we have a massive mansion, but I would feel baby was too far away if upstairs in cot and I was downstairs doing stuff, in the first few months at least?
Friends with babies lived in flats when babies were small so I suppose it wasn't an issue, and I don't know the answer!

OP posts:
Superexcited · 19/04/2015 19:48

My baby will sleep in the carrycot bit of the pram for the first few months and then probably a travel cot.

Superexcited · 19/04/2015 19:49

Carrycot downstairs during tge daytime that is, cot upstairs at nighttime.

Stinkersmum · 19/04/2015 19:49

Anywhere you like, assuming you have portable sleeping arrangements. I'm planning on a Sleepyhead. Makes the transition into a cot easier, and can be carried around the house, used in bed etc. I love the idea of a Moses basket but considering I'm 6'2 & DH is 6'4, I don't think it'd be long before our dc would grow out of it.....

SparklesandBubbles · 20/04/2015 10:09

I think I'm a bit behind...not even begun to think of buying stuff for Bubba yet or where we will put him/her. We might be moving house as we are currently in a flat, if we can find one in time...nothing like last minute planning!!

Fabuluce · 20/04/2015 11:30

Erm, so here's a thing. I've always had a bit of a fluffy face - you know the type - that super downy type of blond hair on the face that some women have? It's never bothered me before but all of a sudden it's got long! And there is LOADS of it. If it gets any longer I'll have to start plaiting it. Anyone experiencing this??

gingerbreadmam · 20/04/2015 11:58

in a local pram shop the guy was demo-ing one called a venicci i think and talking customers out of buying more expensive prams in favour of this one. apparently it does everything and comes woth everything all for just under £500. might be worth a look for those who are checking out their options. ive read great things online.

im also stuck in the where to sleep debate. its a tough one and i think a lot of it depends on how you plan to feed which i havent made a decision on yet either. moses baskets are cute. i like the look of the chicco next to me but then it will also need a cot. three things for sleeping in jus seems a bit silly (maybe 4 if i get my way with a sleepyhead). i need to really think about this one Grin
