Hello! waves

I'm due 28th of October and am 9 weeks and 1 day with my third baby :)

whoknew28 · 26/03/2015 18:33

Hi Side! Wow - third! Good going! Hope you're doing well.

Catness and Nonny - it is actually horrifying - I've gone up to a size that I genuinely didn't think even existed. That's really been the only symptom - an extra 3 cup sizes in the last 6 weeks or so.

DH thinks Christmas has come early ??

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 26/03/2015 19:15

Evening all! Hope you're all well.

Just a wee reminder of the secret FB group running alongside this one. To reassure anyone, no-one will see you've joined or any posts/likes on the group.

If you'd like to join, please pm me Smile

scatterbrainedlass · 26/03/2015 19:47

Happy anniversary in advance batfish!

Quick question. I've been told I have to take a urine sample. Do I just hand them a jam jar of pee, or what else am I expected to put it in?? Not sure I want a jar of pee rolling about in my bag Hmm

batfish · 26/03/2015 19:50

Weird, maybe ask them if you can go in and collect a sample pot! I had to pee at the docs, it was a bit odd as there were empty pots in the bathroom and then I had to pee, stick my label on and leave it in a big box with lots of other people's pee!

NonnyBunny · 26/03/2015 21:43

Unfortunately, my anxieties were founded. It wasn't good news for us this evening. We have a NT measurement of 4.5 mm which is associated with greatly increased risk of chromosomal defects. We found NHS stats online which suggest 50% chance of a healthy baby if 4.5-5.4 mm and 70% if 3.5-4.4 mm. My more optimistic DH likes to think we're only just out of the 3.5-4.4 range so perhaps it's not as bad as 50%...but I am preparing myself for the worst. We're going for a harmony test as soon as we can which is pricey but non-invasive and 99.5% accurate - but we'll then we'll have another 2 week wait to find out definitively.

I feel bad posting negative news on here, as I know how anxious everyone is, especially before 12 weeks, but the chances of an increased NT is very low (less than 1%) so it seems we're just very unlucky. So I hope not to worry others. Just needed to tell someone as i hadn't told many people I'm pregnant yet and I'm just shell shocked and needed to tell someone.

crazypuglady · 26/03/2015 22:02

So sorry Nonny, please don't worry about posting negatively here. This is for us all to support each other, good or bad.

I'm with your DH, being a stats geek. There's a huge gap between 50% and 70%, that gap can't just not exist, it's a scale and you're right on the edge of the 50% scale so your odds MUST be lower than 70%. Of course I understand you expecting the worst though. I have no advice on getting through the next couple of weeks. I'll just keep everything I have crossed for you that the Harmony test comes back with a normal result.

Ladypug · 26/03/2015 22:12

I'm also with your DH and crazypuglady - you can post anything here, we're all in it together. Absolutely a big gap between 50-70%. I know it's easier said than done but go for the Harmony test and just hang on in there. We're all rooting for you xx

AnnaBegins · 26/03/2015 22:19

What a shock Nonny. Hope the harmony test can give you some positive news. There is a big gap between 50 and 70%.

NonnyBunny · 26/03/2015 22:22

Thanks crazypuglady and ladypug, that means a lot. Even 70% isn't amazing odds although my DH says 'if it's more than 50, that means it's more likely to be okay than not'. Thank goodness for his optimism and calmness or I'd be in much worse a state. I may have been unlucky in this case, but I have been lucky in many ways in life so it's just one of those things, and I know there are people so much worse off.

I've asked work if I can work from home for the next week or so (my boss was very sympathetic fortunately) as I don't think I could face it or focus at all while we're stuck in this limbo. My work shuts over Easter for a week so that will give me more time to come to terms with all of this.

Ladypug · 26/03/2015 22:28

A week off will be good, try to relax a little and remember (this thought helps me as I'm really anxious) our DHs are optimistic and calm but they are also more stable than us as we are flooded with hormones which are prone to making us worry more, try to remember his voice of reason won't be influenced by anxiety-heightening hormones. Take some time out and hang on in there xx

crazypuglady · 27/03/2015 08:44

That's a lovely post ladypug. You're right about the hormones. I have thought a couple of things were the end of the world in the last few weeks then felt like numpty for making such a big deal a few hours later. DH can make all the decisions for me at the moment.

Allstoppedup · 27/03/2015 08:51

Woohoo! Found you!

whoknew28 · 27/03/2015 10:16

Oh Nonny, I'm so sorry you're having to go through such a stressful time. As everyone's said, there's a huge gap between 50 and 70, and the Harmony will give you a clear answer. I don't know if it's any comfort but the same thing happened to a friend of mine last year - she had a 70% risk and continued with the pregnancy anyway. Her baby boy is a complete sweetheart and totally fine - no issues at all. It doesn't necessarily mean the worst, so hold onto all the positives you can - I know it must be so hard. Rooting for you x

scatterbrainedlass · 27/03/2015 10:19

Nonny, I'm sorry things are so tough for you, hope you get the time you need to get your head round everything that's going on. I hope the next few weeks goes quickly and that the news is reassuring when you get it.

scatterbrainedlass · 27/03/2015 10:19

Yay allstoppedup, another homebirthee to be Grin

NonnyBunny · 27/03/2015 11:56

Thank you! I have a harmony test this evening. They do a scan as well as part of the package and it's a consultant dr who does it so I was hoping he might have some more answers. I thought I'd ask if there were any issues with heart or fluid elsewhere as I've heard they are signs of bigger issues. I've heard its 14-16 working days for a result which seems like a lifetime. Just need to figure out ways of keeping busy and hoping for the best even while expecting the worst. Easier said than done...

Choccywoccydodah · 27/03/2015 12:13

Hi ladies, haven't been on for a couple of days so need to read back.
I had a small bout of pinky red spotting Wednesday night and yesterday. Due to my history I was told to phone epu. Had nothing but browny yellow since yesterday afternoon, went in for scan this morning and lovely little baby gave us a wave Grin Been put back 2 days again to 9+3 but sonographer said very common at this stage, also spotting common but they wanted to check.
So here's Choccy not-so-much-a-bean-but-a-proper-little-person!!

Poppytime · 27/03/2015 13:59

Hello! I think I posted on the first thread but completely lost it (and track of timed) after that! I had my 12 week scan last week and am due 02 Oct - so just saying hello to all other October-ees.

I've only read this page so far, but just wanted to say Nonny - good luck with your harmony results and hopefully all is fine - that's great your DH is being so positive - I think you have every right to be. I also had a scare after the 12 week scan in my first pregnancy, I know how stressful it can be. Come on here and I am sure we can try and distract you over the next couple of weeks!

Poppytime · 27/03/2015 14:00

Choccy and Sleepy - congrats on your scans :)
