We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

OMG new phone system at dr surgery is stupid... Gives you a long welcome message and info then says "due to high number of calls we can't connect you at the moment please try again later" Angry At least queue me or just busy tone without the messages so I don't waste my time and money!!! It always used to just be busy tone which I didn't mind because you could just hit redial til you got through.

Ooh, now I'm number 19 in the queue Hmm at least in theory I should get through eventually so long as it doesn't cut me off...

daholster · 18/03/2015 08:08

Number 14...

daholster · 18/03/2015 08:10

I dreamt last night I realised I was in labour, went to ring dh and was gutted it was already 21.12 and there wouldn't be any flights...

Number 13...

daholster · 18/03/2015 08:12

Wow number 5!!! Maybe lots of new people just started shift?!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2015 08:15

It's day 3/4 PenguinPoser, you can't expect to know it all already! The midwife has latched a million babies and she can see better what's she's doing and she doesn't have an emotional attachment so doesn't get stressed out and and and and. Please give yourself a break! Little and early babies often struggle with latch and you are not failing in anyway. My milk took 5 days with ds1 and it was a very different experience from then onwards.

She was in the pool before though SquattingNeville so I thought at that point she was trying to be active. Probably didn't help that at that point her oh was sleeping in a neighbouring room as he didn't fell well ShockHmmConfused

Yeah was thinking about that this morning RL20 and perhaps she meant 600g in the two weeks I won't go over due rather than per week, seems a lot! Mine were big but we're born at 42 weeks so makes sense. This one should be here by 40+1.

My bum/hip/back feels better today yay!

daholster · 18/03/2015 08:33

Yay for your back feeling better cinnamon !

Dd to dr at 14.10... Must not allow baby brain to forget...

FiRaffe · 18/03/2015 08:36

Daholster - i'm asthmatic but thankfully well controlled. Only had an asthma attack when I was about 3. I would definitely get her checked but also does she have hayfever? My asthma always gets worse in hayfever season and the pollen is starting to come out.

RL - our scan is next Tuesday. Feels like ages but i'll be almost 36 weeks at that point so at least if they need to do something little one will be almost cooked!

Morning All!

Thanks very much for that breastfeeding link Boo - and good idea re Survey Monkey, Firaffe.
Glad your hip is feeling better Cinnamon

Penguin really don't beat yourself up re breastfeeding!!! No, really!! No-one knows wtf they are doing to start with, and a bit of formula isn't going to hurt your bubs at all! Nice to mix it up a bit, I say!
I think the one downside of breastfeeding being pushed as natural and great is that folk then feel bad if it doesn't all fall into place easily. Well, childbirth is natural too and there's nothing easy about that!
So cut yourself some slack. You've already done a marvellous job carrying and bringing a healthy baby into the world. The rest will follow in good time :0)

Peanut = 37 weeks today. Exciting :0D But do I feel ready? I do not! Does anyone, ever, with their first?
(suppose now I'll spend the rest of the pregnancy worrying about my placenta failing or something!)

mswibble · 18/03/2015 09:03

Oh dear, just quickly reading through but it seems like quite a few of us are having a rough old time of it!

penguin sorry to hear you are struggling, you're doing fantastically and be kind to yourself!

I am in pain today, not sure if I slept funny or what but I can barely move. Got to try and manouvere myself into the shower soon, Hmm as i am due in work!
I'm admitting defeat with driving as I don't believe I'm safe at the moment. I'm getting such bad 'fanny daggers(!)' when driving and when I had to do a sort of emergency stop the other day (idiotic college students who cannot cross roads) it was agony. Problem is using the trains is just as bad, if its not needing a wee every five minutes, just walking through the station and platforms hurt. Sad Three more days in work and blimey, I'm so ready for a rest.

kismac · 18/03/2015 09:07

Good news on the scan RL.

Glad your wee one is feeling better this morning Squatting and I hope the doctors appointment goes well for yours Daholster.

Penguin, you are doing an amazing job and it will get easier. Take all the support you can get.

Went out for lovely Mexican meal and comedy gig last night. Baby didn't like it being too loud and spent the evening trying to burrow into my pelvis, which really hurt. Cue crazy pregnant lady puffing and rocking in their seat. Was convinced my water were going to go cause the pressure was really horrible. Had to apologise to DH as I spent most of the night grunting and wiggling. Lucky, he just laughed at me.

FiRaffe · 18/03/2015 09:54

Tinytear - you're optimistic! I can barley remember what's going on in my own life!

Misty - can you speak to someone higher up? Energy companies are useless!

Kismac - hehe I know the rocking feeling. My assistant brownie leader is a health visitor and keeps worrying when I stand there rocking from side to side that i'm about to go into labour! Oops

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 18/03/2015 10:40

with 2 kids I had a single buggy, a sling, and a buggy board. if the toddler got tired, baby went in the sling while toddler went in the buggy. if not, toddler on board and baby in buggy. it worked for us :)

Lauren82000 · 18/03/2015 10:40

Misty have you asked them to put your complaint on record? Or even better tweet something, they usually hate the bad publicity so get right on it. Grin I have no idea how they work it all out to be honest even when they have simplified the bill it still seems too complicated for this poor brain to comprehend.

I'm so confused about what's going on with this baby, I was so uncomfortable last night and it was the first time I've had night sweats! Couldn't actually tell you what hurt or was uncomfortable just that it was. This morning however when I'm stood up I feel very heavy at the bottom of my bump and there's 'something' in my pelvis so I'm thinking baby has burrowed further down but then I get hiccups that jump from bum to left side in seconds and raging heartburn when I sit down. which makes me think baby has popped out and floating around again. It's either that or there is an invisible twin in there that didn't show up on the scan! Shock

I'm so ready for this to be over, not enjoyed this pregnancy one bit. Least I enjoyed DD's so I have had some experience of a nice relaxing, exciting one.

smogsville · 18/03/2015 11:12

I was going to get a buggy board but have decided against it as DD is 3.5, v accustomed to walking/ scooting and I want to preserve my back!

Nunkie I would be so impressed if you wrote 'meh' on your form!

Squatting hope your DS is feeling better for calpol and cuddles.

FiRaffe - we used to use a rein thingy on DD when she was younger. Sometimes if she runs too far ahead now I threaten to get them out again...

daholster - obvs I don't know if your DD has asthma, I did as a child, had grown out of it by mid teens and not now used an inhaler for probably 18 yrs (god that makes me feel old!). If it's playing on your mind why not take her, might stop you feeling anxious? Provided you can get through on phone of course!

Thanks everyone for coming back to me on my new pain, saw doc this morning who checked baby's heartbeat (fine) and wee sample (nothing showing) and said it sounds like SPD - basically pelvic pain, super common in pregnancy. He suggested that I go into day unit at hospital so mws could do a check today or tmrw but I think I'll prioritise rest instead, what do you all think? I'm not in agony or anything and I'm seeing the local mw on Tuesday morning for my 36 wk check up at doctor's surgery. walking quickly and carrying stuff is a bit painful but I can limit that easily now I've finished work and DH will fetch and carry heavy groceries like milk en route to and from tube or I could use my rucksack. Thoughts? What would you all do?

Underwood2013 · 18/03/2015 11:44

Thanks all for the feedback on transport! I think we may try the sling / buggy board combo to start and see how we get on...

smogs I had SPD with my DS and have it again now. It's crap. I think everyone who has it probably has a slightly different version, different severities. I went to a hospital clinic when I was expecting DS and was in a 'class' with about 7 other ladies - ranging from one nearly on crutches to another wearing heels and crossing her legs above the knee. I was somewhere in the middle! They give you a support belt, which helped about 50% of the class (not me though, unfortunately) and tell you movements to avoid and things to do so it doesn't get any worse. Then they will advise you to come see someone 1-1 if you feel you need more support. I left it at that as I didn't feel I needed crutches and there isn't much more they can offer.

This time around I recognised the pain when it came back. I think it has been slightly less painful as I was a bit fitter entering this pregnancy... but it's still uncomfortable. I had to stop playing tennis, and now at nearly 36w I can't walk long distances without discomfort, and if I do do a lot of walking / standing during the day I feel it in my pelvic bone at night. I didn't even bother with pregnancy yoga this time as lying on the hard floor made it worse with DS. I can't sleep on my side for any length of time - it's very painful to turn out of side sleep position to back. Have to get in & out of the car with legs together etc etc.

All in all there are worse things that could happen but this one makes the final stretch of pregnancy (& recovery) quite uncomfortable as I struggle to do all the recommended things!

Apologies for the novela on the topic...

smogsville · 18/03/2015 11:52

Thanks Underwood. Sounds like I should stop moaning as mine isn't so severe - yet. It's very localised basically just the pubic bone front right hand side. I think I suddenly feel knackered having stopped work too which isn't helping. Got to go and pick DD up from nursery in half an hour too, seems far too early. Is it dreadful to admit that I'm really excited about her going 9-3 tomorrow... Shock

Siarie · 18/03/2015 12:01

Thought for the day, (most of us) are getting super eager to meet our little ones and want them out. But look down at your bump right now, they are here they are just behind a layer of skin for now. They've been here all along.

smogsville · 18/03/2015 12:07

I don't know Siarie, I reckon there's a thick layer of fat in between the skin and the baby! Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2015 12:15

Sorry you had such a terrible night SquattingNeville!

I think if you can afford to pay the £45 you're in debt then go fori a t with changing Misty414. Don't forget the most expensive months of the year are nearly over!

I spoke to soon, after walk to school, carrying minded child in and out of car and trip round Tesco im in a lot of pain, damn my daft dog! DH thinks it's when he jolted me on Sunday and it's just flared up last night while running because I've out extra pressie on it. He's going to try and massage it when he gets home but it's hard when I can't lay on my belly!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 18/03/2015 12:16

with the buggy board, my boy couldn't get the hang of it until he was 3, so younger kids might be better off with the type you can sit down on

Had consultant appointment today that was just totally pointless. She barely spoke to me and was trying to shove me out the door. They still don't seem interested in discussing my birth plan. Ended up on the phone to DH and just started crying. Feeling so very fed up and nervous about everything. Im really uncomfortable and would have liked to talk about it but doctor didn't seem to care. He suggests I phone midwife and have a proper chat about things. Oh blah.
