We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

RL20 I was 36+4 at my last scan and baby estimated 6lb 12, she said they gain 600g a week at this stage Shock

I couldn't manage that much pizza at the moment Lauren82000 and if I did I'd most definitely throw it up at bedtime the way I am at the moment!

No idea on that smogsville, could it be round ligament pain?

In my attempt to run my baby out I have hurt my hip, although dh who's more knowledgable says it's my back and he can easily fix it. Damn my loose body! Hobbling like a good'un but had an enjoyable run. Long discussion with dh tonight about dss and he's really struggling with it all. Had a long chat with his ex today where she made a lot of it about her and told him how much he's done to her and totally turned the conversation around to their relationship which ended over a decade ago Shock. This is like going back to the stresses of the beginning of our relationship and I could so do without it at the moment.

smogsville · 17/03/2015 21:40

Thanks for speedy response daholster. I'll do as you suggest and start with UTI investigations. As you say could just be baby moving. Mw did a routine wee test on Sat at 34 wk appt and it was clear but no reason why something couldn't have developed since then.

No lifting so I don't think it's muscular. It's so low down - well below what you'd call your bikini line if you were going for a wax. It's not a bad pain, it's more the worry about why it's there that's concerning me iyswim.

FiRaffe · 17/03/2015 21:41

Glad to hear all was well RL. Keep growing little one!

Good work on the pizza Lauren. I don't seem to be struggling with eating yet, but that is the perk of a small baby I guess!

Hope all with aches and pains feel better soon.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/03/2015 21:43

Anyone watching obem? This woman isn't progressing and has a back to back baby why on earth isn't someone getting her up on her hands and knees, standing or on a ball? I feel for her as she's been in labour a while but the midwives should be keeping her active surely?

chiliplant · 17/03/2015 21:54

Yep I'm watching! I find it helps..I don't know why.
Poor sleepy headachey man...hmm.
Maybe she was walking around and its just the way it was edited.
I intend t move as much as poss!x

FiRaffe · 17/03/2015 21:59

Yep, you do wonder cinnamon. The elcs guy is madly in love with his baby's mum!

Underwood2013 · 17/03/2015 22:05

Yes nunkie that is the one!

I was there just under 2 yrs ago for ds birth and quite a bit of the delivery ward was under construction.... Curious to see it again now, assuming they have finished the works!

Anyone with a child around 2 looking at / can recommend a tandem or double buggy? Would like one that I could initially plop the car seat on top of like I can with my single... And then convert to regular seat later, But not sure what doubles may have that flexibility...?

Hospital bag still not done but tomorrow I gave decided it is time to go get the last bits and be done with it already!

Bizarre pains this morning while driving - kind of felt like she was shoving her head down into my pubic bone. Had them for a bit then it stopped and hasn't happened again the rest of the day.

TheBooMonster · 17/03/2015 22:10

there really doesn't seem to be much active on your feet type labouring on OBEM, I keep telling DH that no matter what, he needs to keep me off the bed when I'm in labour for as long as possible! The menfolk were at least more supportive this week than last weeks lovely lot!

smog I would lean towards UTI as well.

Thanks Boo. Will get pot to GP tomorrow. Underwood sounds like you've had pains in a similar place but mine doesn't feel like baby pressure.

londonlivvy · 17/03/2015 22:19

Underwood I always recommend Phil and Teds. so many options.

one baby in car seat
one baby in lying flat position
one baby in lying flat plus toddler seat
car seat plus toddler seat
two toddler seats.

etc.

daholster · 17/03/2015 22:31

I am being mean to our dd - she is giving up the buggy seat and getting a piggyback board instead! Well, she thinks the buggy is fun but unnecessary and spends very little time in it so we decided there wasn't much point in forking out for a double buggy at least at first... we'll soon see if that was an error!

I will have the sling and the trike... time will tell!

Underwood2013 · 17/03/2015 22:35

Thanks london - think I'll look online at p&t options tomorrow... Wish we had planned a bit better when we got our icandy 2 yrs ago... We managed to get a model that can't convert to double. That's some smart shopping, eh??!

smogs yes similar place but sounds like slightly different pains. And mine has stopped for now. This morning she had me thinking she was starting to burrow her way out early!

Underwood2013 · 17/03/2015 22:40

daholster we were thinking buggy board too, but ds likes to run off (and ignore me) and I can't see how I could get any shopping done if I stop pushing the pram long enough for him to hop off... Hopefully he will get better in time but initially I think we may need a strapped in option. Hard to say until we try it out I guess, maybe he will be better than I think? ( ha ha, who am I kidding?)

londonlivvy · 17/03/2015 22:59

My childminder got a second hand Phil and Ted for 70 quid I think, including every accessory. So it doesn't have to be a massive investment.

We were given our P&T by my sister. it's ancient (10 years old) and scruffy but still does the job.

Nunkie · 17/03/2015 23:21

Smogs for me, cystitis is always in the centre rather than over to one side (tho everyone's different) and the big give away is stinging when I pee. It can't hurt to drink a lot of water either way, tho!

(Speaking of which.. I just went for a pee about three times in as many minutes. And I'm about to go for a fourth. Beat that! :0D)

Just got back from NCT breastfeeding class which was ... meh... okay - not as good as our first class last week. Instructor was nice enough but a little vague. And now my boobs are wincing in anticipation of baby-sucks, bad latches, blocked ducts, mastitis, etc Grin. Best make the most out of this last couple weeks of free and easy boobs. Maybe I'll get some tassles on 'em and whirl them about in appreciation :0D

Never understand why they hand out evaluation forms for you to fill in right there at the end of the class, with your name and all your details, in front of the instructor. I thought the point was anonymity if you actually want to get any honest info out of the darn things!?

Anyway, with that minor grumble, goodnight all. Hope you get a restful night (or at least as restful as possible under the circumstances!)

TheBooMonster · 17/03/2015 23:45

daholster we're also buggy boarding, just waiting for some cash to come in before we buy it, but my theory was we could alternate with putting bump in a sling initially, we're now up to three and I'm going to head to a sling meet some time soon to try out some more...

nunkie sounds a bit odd with the forms, you're hardly going to put 'actually it was a bit shit' if you've got someone over your shoulder, hardly seems worth giving them out! We got a bosom buddies breastfeeding survival kit thing from the natural birthing company which has some essential oils for common breastfeeding ailment and some lovely soft flannels (won't help for for bad latch, but looks good for low supply or mastitis etc) I've got a code somewhere for a discount on their site hunts nbc10 for 10% off naturalbirthingcompany.co.uk/blog/?utm_source=Natural+Birthing+Company+Newsletter&utm_campaign=d5fa25ecbf-March_Newsletter3_13_2015&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_ffa1fbfda3-d5fa25ecbf-109887465&mc_cid=d5fa25ecbf&mc_eid=1be8b1e9be

Hi ladies - just checking in sorry I've got left behind as haven't had time to keep up with posts.

Day 3 was tough. DD has jaundice and much to my massive emotional upset we are struggling to feed despite support so on regular top ups. Just expressed couple of ml to feed her. Feels like milk is imminently coming in so fingers crossed it gets better. But I am majorly beating myself up about it. Midwife coming back in the morning.

I'm so besotted with DD but it's so all consuming. My mum has been very helpful with food for me and DH etc. Found I need the support.

I remember chat about labour pain - my advice would be if you needs drugs have them I decided there were no prizes for being a hero and I have no regrets about what I had. Also re scan sizes, my growth scan 2 days before delivery estimated 6lb10 and DD was 6lb1 so not too accurate. She must have lost done now as well she's in tiny baby clothes as newborn are huge on her.

Will try and keep up better hope everyone is ok. Best go try feed again... BrewBrew

TheBooMonster · 18/03/2015 01:47

penguin day 3 was awful with DD, think my milk came in day 4 or 5 Shock because we were struggling so much with feeding DD lost 12% of her body weight, but she gained it back quite quickly once my milk was in, it does get easier I promise!

Thanks Boo. It's mainly the latch that's the issue the midwife can get her on but it's so difficult to do myself Confused every time I give her formula from cup or syringe I feel like I'm failing. She roots but if I think she's on she just then screams. Argh. Gonna try go to bed.

Buggy board here as well and as the weather improves baby in sling and dd in scooter..

FiRaffe · 18/03/2015 07:34

Oh Penguin, sorry to hear that it's not going as you hoped but keep asking for help and you aren't failing - if anything you're reminding us first time mums that it isn't easy and you have to keep trying.

Nunkie- if you get another form for your main class or something suggest they do a survey monkey survey as that's what our NCT does without names etc - at least you can be honest.

Hope your DS feels better Squatting. must be so difficult being this pregnant with a poorly little one.

For those of you who have others and are worried about them running off, i'm sure you've thought of it but have you got reigns? My friend has 2 and her older little boy had a monkey and the tail is the reign - he calls them monkey cuddles and he can go so far, but not too far.

daholster · 18/03/2015 07:55

firaffe you can predict how our trips will go when you get out of the car and find out whether dd will happily put the reigns on or whether it's a fight!

squatting dd has a cough too! It's been creeping and I think she's slightly asthmatic anyway but her puffer did nothing last night, she was awake at 02.30 crying too. Thankfully no fevers yet. I don't know whether to take her back to the GP or if it's pointless really. I don't want a steroid inhaler for her and I can just request another blue one, but she hasn't been checked up for nearly a year so maybe I should take her? No idea really, she's not sick if you know what I mean. But the cough is really bothering her at night this week and today she has coughed and coughed all morning so far too. Perhaps I should be using her puffer all day too Sad perhaps it's seasonal, an allergy? I had allergic rhinitis as a child with a very snotty nose, maybe she has a chesty version?

penguin she was little to start with so it is more stressful if you feel she is losing weight. Jaundice can be normal and that's fine so long as she is behaving normally and trying to root which it sounds like she is. Yep day 4 for my milk too so fingers crossed. The latch is so hard, you would never imagine it could be! Keep persevering through that emotion if you can, you are doing amazingly believe it or not, this is when a lot of people give up (which is fine if you need to, but you still sound determined! Tired, but determined...) the little bits of colostrum will be giving her all those benefits you are after for her so even if there are formula top ups you aren't failing her at all. Even if it was all formula you wouldn't be failing, but the benefits you wanted from the breastfeeding she is guessing. As squatting says to me, throw yourself a bone. I reckon maybe it's harder on your body when you are induced to work out what it is supposed to be doing as if it has been rushed into things?! No idea but it sounds like a plausible theory.

You are doing great. The first week is the worst. In another week you will be feeling a lot better, honest Flowers Flowers

RL20 · 18/03/2015 08:00

Morning everyone Brew

Thanks FiRaffe. Also shown that he was head down so let's hope he stays that way! When is your scan?

Smog I agree with Daholster, I would of thought if it was appendix l the pain would possibly be worse. I had horrendous breath-stopping pain with a rumbling appendix when I was younger. Never had anything like it and as it didn't actually rupture or progress to appendicitis I didn't have to have it taken out, so I'm always worrying that it might happen again Confused
I'm not sure what to suggest what it could be as I've not had pain around that area, but I echo to give the midwife a ring just to see. Glad to hear baby is still active though.

I didn't watch OBEM I'm afraid, have never watched it before so not going to start now! ShockBlush

Underwood thanks for reminding me about the hospital bag, mines still at my mum's house! Must bring that back today!
RE the pain you had, I had a similar experience when I woke up in the night with a mild pain and baby was wriggling around to what felt like him pushing his head around down there!

Nunkie I got given a similar form at the midwives last week, which she have to me half way through the appointment whilst she just sat there and watched! And there's nearly always a junior midwife too so she was sat on the other side of me, very awkward!

Penguin that's lovely that you feel so besotted, of course it's going to feel overwhelming but you'll get there and glad to hear the midwife is coming out again to see you.

Cinnamon wow really?! Shock I hope he carries on growing but at a steady rate, if he was to put on that much a week, by 40 weeks he would be nearing 10lbs!!! ShockConfusedBlush
