Welcome to the 13th April 2015 babies thread!

The stats thread is here and we have a handy spreadsheet here

If anyone wants to join the FB group who hasn’t already, PM me your email address and I’ll send you an invite!

We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

That's very poor kismac ur entitled to a decent appointment- ur seeing a consultant for a reason and he should have addressed ur needs.

I'm sorry u feel bad about it Brew

daholster · 18/03/2015 13:43

Oh no kismac that is rubbish Sad

Can't stop long, need to get to dr for 14.10 and leave at 14.00, have swim bag to pack for lesson and my work clothes to pack... PIL are collecting dd from nursery to take her home while I go to work.

Thanks for the reminding about dr Grin

Been to play gym with dd and a friend and her ds (same age) this morning, then walk round a big pond to feed the ducks with dd and same friend in their trikes, now had lunch, changed dd (all wet, weeing legend!!!) and now here about to go to dr, then stop by at a friends for a cuppa before we go to swimming then I go to work an hour away until midnight... Home by 1am hopefully!

Let's not think about it...

Sorry if I have read and run - must dash! I like busy days they feel easier and dd is happy Smile

Underwood2013 · 18/03/2015 13:58

wow daholster - I am getting tired just reading about your busy day! I'm stuck here while my boiler is being fixed. Thought they were coming at 9 and they showed up at noon... so it's not been a very productive day thus far but never mind!

FiRaffe · 18/03/2015 14:39

Hope your DD got on ok at the doctors daholster.

Sorry to hear your appointment was rubbish too kismac. Hope someone can talk through things with you.

Is it usually your 36 week appointment when the midwife goes through your birth plan? Just thought about that as she couldn't fit me in so seeing a doctor instead and seeing her at 38 weeks. Worried it might be too late to talk through my (lack of) options.

TheBooMonster · 18/03/2015 14:39

DD had an awful night last night, kept waking up screaming and wanting DH who sleeps like the bloody dead, it was only on the one occasion she came in to bed with us and hit him over the head with her empty juice bottle that he actually woke up, then he systematically took up as much of the bed as was humanly possible and eventually got her back into her own bed, he then slept through the next 3 times she woke up! He them got a proper sulk on that he ended up going downstairs with her at 7:30 this morning which quite frankly was a bloody miracle of a time, and then he mostly threw himself round till his parents got here at 10:30, made this whole big thing about me getting up and going to tumble tots so he could do house work and then ended up bloody coming with us anyway! luckily this did mean that he was present when the shopping was done so was unable to do his normal freak out at the total cost because he'd put most of the stuff in there! so much for the bread, milk and yoghurt being all we needed grump grump grump

Getting lots of BH's today, secretly hoped that all the walking round would make them amount to something more substantial but apparently not Sad Scan tomorrow though so who knows, perhaps there will be a baby here in a few days! or I'll end up being pregnant for the rest of my life I'm currently compiling a list of 'oh my god' and questions for the consultant with regards to going into labour like a normal person in case the baby is fine and they don't induce me.

Aww siarie!, I love that thought for the day!

RL20 · 18/03/2015 15:49

Afternoon everyone

Banana glad to hear you're finding the thread I posted helpful. I only wrote it a few days ago, so I can't believe it has had 149 replies!
What are we like, it must be a '35 week' thing! Blush
If anyone else is expecting their first and wants to read some mostly helpful advice, the thread is called 'Helpful things you wish you had known before labour/birth?'.
Obviously there's lots of conflicting advice because of course every labour and birth is different, but it's nice to have a read over people's experiences and tips Smile

Siarie yes that is a lovely thought for the day!

Boo sorry you had a rubbish night! Can agree with you about the food shopping thing! I have to tell my other half to stop putting things in the trolley. These £1s and £2s add up once you get to the till!
Good idea to ask about natural labour, too. I think mostly what I've learnt from the thread I posted, is to expect the unexpected and just go with the flow! There's not a lot else you can do, other than be prepared hospital-bag wise!

FiRaffe I forgot about the birth plan thing, have had no mention of it from the midwives as yet! I won't be having the normal 36 week appointment either as I had my 34 week app last week, a growth scan yesterday and a follow-up midwife app today. So my next appointment is booked for 2 weeks time when I'll be 37 weeks! Shock

Daholster what a lovely busy day Smile You'll sleep well tonight!

According to how my growth scan went, the midwife today estimated that 'he will probably be around 7lbs' so will be interesting to see whether she's right or not. Obviously he could be possibly bigger if I happen to go over the 40 week mark.

RL20 · 18/03/2015 16:44

What is maternity leave doing to me, have replied to most threads on the whole of mumsnet! Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2015 16:55

Guess who hasn't got a car until at least next Tuesday and is 35 miles from chosen hospital? Me!!!!!!!!!!!

Lauren82000 · 18/03/2015 17:00

Oh no cinnamon. Are you having someone on standby to be your des driver or ringing taxi companies to see if any will take you? Confused

RL20 · 18/03/2015 17:12

So, I just went to Google 'Things to do whilst on maternity leave', and I got to 'Things to do whilst on...' when Google automatically came up with the top answers of 'Things to do whilst on...the toilet' and 'Things to do whilst on...acid' WTF?! Shock

Anyway, what's happened with the car, Cinnamon?!

Worth it to get the boiler fixed though Underwood.

Boo sorry you've had a frustrating day with DH. Lolzing at the idea of being pregnant for rest of life. My DH is dreadful at supermarket always throwing in bags of sodding kettle chips and beer and wine. Don't get me wrong I love crisps but I can live without them in the house.

Cinnamon what's wrong with your motor? Reminds me I need to plug tel no of local cab company that takes women in labour into phone.

Yes kismac as Squatting says mw will hopefully be more receptive to a chat about birth plan than the rubbish consultant?

Feeling like a bit of a drama queen and fraud as the pelvic/ pubic bone pain seems to be going away.... I won't tell DH though, it's useful having him think I musn't carry anything heavier than a loaf of bread Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2015 18:08

It's failed it's not because of something pretty silly but has to be fixed by Renault and they can't fit it in to assess it until Monday. So likely not be ready until Tuesday and they don't have any courtesy cars. It's on the drive but illegal to drive. Dh said he would if he needed to but it's not ideal and I hate being stuck without it. Looked at a rental car and it's £165 for the cheapest one from tomorrow until Tuesday and considering I'm about to have a very poor earning month it's not ideal. Dh wants me to ask my mum to borrow my stepdads car until then but I hate asking and I know he's not keen. I just don't want to be in the middle of the night in labour knowing we have an hours drive and no car to do it in. If I called them when I was in labour there's no guarantee they would be in a fit state to drive the car round here and all the toing and froing to get the kids there and car to us while rushing to get to hospital just stresses me!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2015 18:09

Bloody autocorrect! It did say MOT not it's not!

FiRaffe · 18/03/2015 18:32

Oh no cinnamon - that's rubbish. Don't they know there is a pregnant lady waiting!!! Hope you get an alternative sorted.

My bump has got really painful, Inc back pain, since just before I left the office. It feels quite firm too - they tested that when I went in for reduced movements, anyone know why?

RL20 · 18/03/2015 18:59

What was the result of the test they did, FiRaffe? With bump going hard all I know is could be something to do with the water. However, a girl I know was referred for a scan as her bump was really hard, (not sure about painful though), and I actually saw her at the hospital yesterday. When she came out she just said that all was ok, as it was in the waiting area with other people so obviously didn't go into any detail. But she was in and out of the there within 10 minutes! So as far as I'm aware it actually turned out to be nothing to worry about.
But with any pain I'd be getting on to the midwife. Personally I would anyway, just be on the safe side x

RL20 · 18/03/2015 19:01

Sorry I didn't explain that story properly! I meant, she was referred as her bump was hard, and was told it could be because she didn't have enough water in there

RL20 · 18/03/2015 19:05

Cinnamon demand a courtesy car! Explain the situation, they have to provide you with one! I would be fuming

ChickenMe · 18/03/2015 19:07

Hi all I have not had the chance to update.
Penguin we must have had very similar experiences and I hope things are going ok.
We are still in hospital as my DD has jaundice. I'm convinced that being slightly early plus instrumental delivery contributed to this for her. She wouldn't latch on; I've been expressing but could not get enough for her Sad. I am still expressing though and today is milk day - engorgement, ow!!
We are in a unit where they help your baby to feed. She's doing well mainly on formula atm but am hoping I can eventually bf.
What I would pass on to people is, if your baby struggles to feed, get help immediately.

RL20 · 18/03/2015 19:15

ChickenMe nice to hear from you. You're in the best place for now for you and baby whilst she's having feeding troubles. And at least there are people on hand for if you have any questions or need help.
I know a lady who had her little boy around 5/6 weeks early (I can't remember exactly) and he developed jaundice, but all was ok eventually. So you're right that it could be linked. Hope all goes well Thanks

ChickenMe · 18/03/2015 19:25

Thanks RL. This has been a huge learning curve. You never think you will still be at the hospital a week later walking round wearing a bed sheet and cabbage leaves on the boobs because they are the only things that don't hurt!!

smogsville · 18/03/2015 19:47

Cinnamon how long would it take an ambulance to get to you? Misty's idea about your mum being on standby could be a good one?

FiRaffe no idea about firmness of bump and why they'd test it, sorry. Mine goes soft and firm and back again anyway so not sure it would indicate anything.

Good luck with the boob Chicken.
