We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

When I was younger I tried progesterone pill and then injections, but hormones just didn't agree with me. Ended up with copper coil, no hormones. Much better! Don't know why it is not more popular for younger women as requires precisely zero effort for 5-10 years. And as soon as I had to removed LO was conceived. Smile

smallgreenbanana · 09/04/2015 22:14

Don't know what we'll do after LO is born though as we are not sure yet if we want any more children so coil again would be a commitment.

MustBeLoopy390 · 10/04/2015 03:44

Charlie I know that feeling! I'm having dc3 and my body seems to be so much more achey/not taking it as well this time around, I'm pretty much sure this is our last baby

broodylicious · 10/04/2015 07:26

The coil could be an option for me then as I know this one will be our last (I'm 36 and two is plenty for us!) and I don't necessarily want the hassle of hormonal crap on top of baby raising and everything else going on in our lives. Think I shall do a bit of research on this.... Good convo, ladies.

Naturegirl82 · 10/04/2015 08:42

broody that's why I'll be having the coil because of lack of hormones. Although there are two types of coil so worth reading up on both.

Charliej86 · 10/04/2015 10:59

Sitting watching baby jumping about. 26 weeks today and movements are very noticeable now. Can't wait for a OH to have a chance to just sit and watch. He'll love it.

Not trying to steer away from the conversation here just dropping it in.

Zampa · 10/04/2015 15:07

A colleague mentioned my "waddle" at lunchtime ...

Cheers, mate ...

broodylicious · 10/04/2015 17:44

charliej, my movements are much stronger now too. It's lovely isn't it? Baby was going mental earlier as we've been to see cbeebies live and the noise/music was obvs really loud.

Luckystar82 · 10/04/2015 18:47

Hi everyone, I've just caught up on the thread after a long hiatus caused by moving house and all the stress that goes with that! Found the chat about contraception really interesting as it is something I need to think about. Also the chat about slings. We have just bought an Ergobaby carrier after reading some disappointing reviews about the Baby bjorn. Ergobaby carriers are expensive though!

I don't really have much to add or update on ! The pregnancy is going well - 26+4 today and baby starting to move a bit but still not very strong movements due to anterior placenta.

I have my glucose blood test and 27 week midwife appt next week. Don't feel very heavy yet thank goodness! Infact I weighed myself two weeks ago and I am 7lbs lighter than before I fell pregnant - which is very strange. I asked the MW if it's anything to worry about but she said bump is spot on for number of weeks. I am still cycling /commuting to work by train (it's a 2 hour journey because I am slower than an old granny) but wondering how long I can keep it up.

I'm planning to work until week 36...how about everyone else?

Luckystar82 · 10/04/2015 18:50

charlie and broody - yes the movements are becoming more obvious- I too saw my belly move today. DC1 for me so was a very strange sight...but also lovely!

Fattycow · 10/04/2015 18:51

Mine found a new spot to kick me today. The bum was next to my belly button, on the right side, and the little feet were kicking me just below my lowest right rib. Silly baby!

smallgreenbanana I think we may want a 3-4 year age gap between this child and DC2. Is the coil a sensible option for me? I've never really considered it before. Would prefer not to be on the pill. Must admit, we relied on withdrawal method for years (when not ttc) as we didn't mind getting pregnant but it never happened. But I don't really want to get pregnant while on Mat leave, so we need to sort out some better contraception!

broodylicious · 10/04/2015 19:14

Hi again lucky waves. Lovely to see you again. How did the house move go? Seems there's loads of us who are doing up our houses or moving before babies arrive! Did you go for the ergo 360? I think that is what dh is favouring at the mo but I love the Tula. We had the baby Bjorn with dd but we won't be using it again - while the model we chose was mega comfy because of the really good back support, the narrow base of the carrier itself means an uncomfortable position for bubs that isn't good for their hips. I can't wait to get carrying again, I did love it with dd.

Fattycow · 10/04/2015 19:16

I think maybe a trip to a family planning nurse could be very useful. She can explain about all the different methods and help decide which one is best in your personal situation.

Hi all, just caught up on the thread. I've had a week off work, it's been so lovely. Had my parents to stay and decorated our halfway. So last bit of diy finished before baby arrives Smile

I haven't given contraception a thought yet. I was in the pill before and that always suited me. I think we'll have a couple of years before we start considering DC2!

I've booked my mat leave from 38 weeks and used leave to go part time from 34 weeks. But I have some spare leave I could use if I get too tired and want to leave at 37 weeks, so we'll see.

I need a new baby to-buy list. We've done the big things (pram, car seat, nursery furniture) but still need a moses basket... & should probably start thinking about nappies, toiletries etc! 26+6 now, love that its all getting closer to July Smile

Fattycow · 10/04/2015 20:11

The glorious sunshine makes it feel much nearer to July as well!

Zampa that was rather rude of your colleague. Secretly though I am quite proud of my waddle Grin

lucky week 36/37 for me too. I think I will be ready by then. Commute already really uncomfortable. Does anyone else get a sore bum from sitting down for long periods?

There's a small coil that lasts 5 years but I think once you've had a child you might need a different size, you could ask. To be honest having it taken out was so uneventful I would be tempted by one for 3-4 years although they prefer you to see it as a long term thing. Just make sure you are happy with prospect of heavier periods although mine tailed off after 2-3 years. Either that or get the coil with hormones, a low dose so not as bad as pill. Not for me but I've heard it is good. Agree with fattycow

LO movements a bit haywire here! Sometimes I wonder if she has more than 4 limbs!

Charliej86 · 10/04/2015 21:31

Wow my cousin has just dropped me off loads of goodies. A bumbo, cot mobile, feeding pillow, chicco carrier, 3 big bags of clothes and other bits too. Excited to look through!

Fattycow · 10/04/2015 21:36

Goodies are excellent!

Also, I know I'm getting a sling for my babyshower. I got a call from my friend if I preferred a ring sling or a regular wrap. Smile

MrsFbabyNo1 · 11/04/2015 08:02

I'm like you fatty, don't want any long term contraceptives, don't really wanna get back on pill so looks like faffy condoms it might have to be.

Our little man is definitely moving more and more. Aren't we in a growth spurt now (preg+ app says baby's weight doubles from 24 weeks to 28th). I woke at 3am (no bananas left so just drank apple juice and milk) and again at 6:30am (had cereal and more apple juice) hungry so he is definitely requiring more nourishment at mo! Fatty little chunker. I feel semi hungry again now Shock

Hi again lucky, glad all is good with you and house move went well. Charlie you can't bet freebie goodies too, sounds like lots of good stuff!

fingers crossed...Hoping to work till 38 weeks (end of June) which should be OK as I've been so well. But got a weeks holiday next wk (yippee) then April's nearly done, planning on extending the two may bank hols with bit of leave (so all of May be 4day working weeks for me), then regularly day or two home working a week for June (1hr commute saved). So hope that helps me wind down a bit in my last months. Basically have to see how it goes don't we.Wink

Quick update from me, seen neurologist yesterday regarding headaches he believes them to be chronic pregnancy related migraines. As with most things not much they can do, to try magnesium as a preventive measure for a fortnight, if nothing to try a blood pressure pill. When they get bad paracetamol and bed. I have also developed a horrendous pain under my right boob, just on my ribs. I no this is a bit ridiculous and I shouldn't do it, but I think I may have pre eclampsia, I think I had it last time and it was missed. I had protein in my urine at every check from 20 weeks and vomited the entire time, got a rash all over my bump and had to be induced as baby was small. Sam story again, trace in urine at 20 weeks, now at 24 weeks positive for protein, headaches, vomiting and this right rib pain. The only thing is I don't have high blood pressure. Oh and baby small again, 2 weeks off at 20 week scan, 22 week scan just a week behind and at bump measurement 24 weeks 2 weeks behind again. Sorry for ramble, has anyone had experience of any of this, am I just feeling sorry for myself and being paranoid?
Hope all have a good weekend, got my bet on for the national, always get quite excited so silly!

MrsFbabyNo1 · 11/04/2015 08:19

Morning MrsC, can't help other than give my sympathy n hugs to you. sounds like you definitely know your body even if Dr's / tests don't confirm it. so do they just keep a watching brief on you?

ooh not looked at national stuff yet but love the yearly flutter. I only occasionally win but only as I back 4 or 5 horses in the end. he he

smallgreenbanana · 11/04/2015 08:37

Mrsc even if you don't have pre-eclampsia sounds like you're having a tough time.Flowers odd that they have not taken the protein more seriously as they are so obsessed with testing for it!

smallgreenbanana · 11/04/2015 08:41

Hungry hungry hippo yet can't eat much as not enough room for me, baby and food. Forgot this last night and suffered badly from discomfort all night. Sad I have decided what I need is a special bed with a big hole where I can plant the bump and still sleep on my front. Grin
