We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

You ovulaye first before a period so you need to use contracetion as you wont get a warning period first!!

mrsf i am stopping BF at 6 months as we are going to ttc asap. I am 39 just now so it is purely to do with my age i would prefer a nice gap between kids but with my age I can't take it for granted that I will conceive quickly etc etc!

Clstow · 09/04/2015 11:13

Wow I have learnt a lot catching up on the thread this morning!

Fattycow · 09/04/2015 11:22

You learn something new every day. Smile

Today I have learned that I no longer fit on my bike...

Thanks all. I was just so worried they might not come back for like a year, and I'd be one of those endlessly waiting when we ttc again. Definitely wasn't going to use bf as a method of contraception!

Talking of post birth contraception what did most of you with babies do first time round?

I dont really want to go on the pill again after baby (? Would have to be mini pill not normal pill if bf) as I was on for 15yrs before first ttc. So want my body to just be normal so I can hopefully monitor what's happening each month.

But if chance of no periods but could still ovulate then I wouldn't really know what my body was doing anyway (don't think I'll be temping when concentrating on my first baby)!!!

Anyway obv this is all pie in the sky at my as main focus is having our first little man. But doesn't hurt to future plan Wink

fattymcfatfat · 09/04/2015 17:46

I went back on the pill after DS with no problems. after DD I forgot to get an appointment for my next lot so had to use condoms which failed us and landed me in the situation I am in now Grin I am thinking of the implant so don't need to worry too much for a couple of years!

broodylicious · 09/04/2015 17:47

It's a very sensible plan to plan, mrsf. And I didn't mean to sound flippant when I made that contraception remark, no offence meant, I'm sorry.

I went on the pill but it had to be a different one to what I was on before because of the breastfeeding. I stopped taking them after a few months because they really messed with me - I'd already got PND and it totally intensified everything so I was in a very dark hole. Stopped taking them and a few weeks later, I was much better. We will probably use condoms while I breastfeed this bubba then go back on to microgynon.

MrsFbabyNo1 · 09/04/2015 17:58

Twas none taken Broody! I meant it would just be my luck to worry bout periods not coming back while breastfeeding then accidently get Pregnant again mega quick in between. ha I worry both extremes.

I've just been in my job a year now and at 26weeks means half of that I've been pregnant. So as we want to grow our family fairly quick with a short ish gap then I also worry bout what my work will ever think if fingers crossed in the future we announce a 2nd pregnancy v quick!!! But sod it. Grin

Zampa · 09/04/2015 18:00

I can highly recommend the contraceptive implant but it is a long term thing so not great if you want to conceive quite quickly.

You'll be back on your bike in no time fatty. I'll need to be if I'm doing the Surrey Ride 100 in August 2016!

Naturegirl82 · 09/04/2015 18:01

I only have the option of a coil. This is why Dh and I ended up deciding to let nature take its course with this one as I didn't fancy having the coil fitted only to have it removed again shortly afterwards to start ttc again (and all the possible complications scared me a little when it had implications for having further children). Will definitely be having a coil fitted this time though!!

Naturegirl82 · 09/04/2015 18:03

zampa I really liked using the implant. Sadly I've been advised not to have it fitted again now Sad

fattymcfatfat · 09/04/2015 18:05

I don't plan on any more at all! I only wanted two I'm on number 3! Grin so plans can change but no more for me 3 at 23 is more than enough

broodylicious · 09/04/2015 18:36

I like the idea of the implant zampa, because there's no way I'd forget to take a pill or anything and we definitely aren't going to be planning any more littlies after this one. Only thing I like about the pill is that I feel like I have control over taking it, iyswim? Are there any possible side effects to the implant?

heatherxo · 09/04/2015 18:47

I had two implants over the course of 4 years.. I put on some weight, my periods stopped completely (cramps didn't) but that was really it. I had it taken out September 10th 2014 and fell pregnant in October!

Fattycow · 09/04/2015 19:02

I'm not sure what we will do. I don't ever want a coil and an implant is to long term for me. The pill isn't ideal when breastfeeding and condoms are a faff. Hmm, I might have another one soon after this one...

Stinkylinky · 09/04/2015 19:32

I had the implant and it literally sent me mental. I cried all the time. I couldn't wait to get it out. I also bled for the whole 3 months that I had it in.

broodylicious · 09/04/2015 19:36

Not doing the implant then, thanks for the heads up, stinky x

Naturegirl82 · 09/04/2015 19:40

I think the implant is like any contraceptive, works for some not for others

Thepurplegiraffe · 09/04/2015 20:16

I agree that the implant works for some and not for others, my experience was really good, my periods stopped for a while but no other side effects. It took a few months to get pregnant after coming out though but we weren't trying too hard to start.
We just stuck to condoms after dd as we knew we wanted to try again quite soon but we have no idea if there will be a number 3 yet. My boss keeps saying how she thinks we won't as I don't do well with pregnancy and I am not contradicting herSmile

Charliej86 · 09/04/2015 20:20

I was quite happy with my 2 but OH really wanted his own and talked me round. We're both quite happy that we're happy with 1 together so have agreed to try get something more permanent. I don't want him to go for snip as if we did split he may want another with a new partner and as I'm more than done I'm going to ask for my tubes tied. However at 28 (should be 29 by time baby comes) I'm not sure if they will so failing that it's back to the implant.

fattymcfatfat · 09/04/2015 20:25

Charlie I know a woman who had her tubes tied at 25 but you have to be really sure about it as it is a big step to take. (the woman had to fight tooth and nail to get it done)

my mum had hers done at 33 and has regretted it for years, which is why I am looking into the implant as I want something long term but being so young I don't want to destroy any chance of me changing my mind in the future

MustBeLoopy390 · 09/04/2015 20:28

We're going for condoms, hormonal bc doesn't suit me at all

Zampa · 09/04/2015 21:39

I had absolutely no issues with the implant broody. My periods stopped (bonus!) but everything went back to normal once it was taken out. You can always give it a try and then remove it if it didn't work for you.

Charliej86 · 09/04/2015 21:43

Well there's some hope. I'm 110% on no more. if we hadn't fallen when we did we prob wouldn't be having no3 at all. I don't think my body could handle another pregnancy.

fattymcfatfat · 09/04/2015 21:48

same here but I am worried I will change my mind when I am older. would be typical of me Grin
