We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

Hi Joy and No 3. I am also having trouble with Braxton Hicks. Been very sick yesterday and today and then had BH. Saw GP today and they have advised rest and rehydration. Lots of baby movements and doppler test fine. Very frustrating. I am also so spotty ds asked me if I had chicken pox.....

NotPennysBoat · 09/03/2015 16:12

jmojo very helpful post! I was just about to reply about not needing to boil water to wipe bottoms - unless you also boil & cool a full bath of water at bathtime then pretty pointless when you think about it!

Thought of some more things for the DC2 list, Lansinoh (nipple cream), breast pads, maternity pads... oh the glamour!

SoapSudBub · 09/03/2015 19:49

joy, number and anyone else having Braxton hicks- this may be a silly question, but what do they feel like? Sometimes I feel what I think might be BH but I have no idea as a ftm!!

broodylicious · 09/03/2015 19:52

Haha, total baby brain here - dd had conjunctivitis for the first few weeks and so that was where the boiling water thing must've popped into my fuzzy head! So embarrassing.

Charliej86 · 09/03/2015 20:13

Feeling much better about things today. So looking ahead, Anyone else on countdown to next scan? I'm getting growth scans at 28 and 34 weeks due to under active thyroid. We were going to pay for a 3d scan but decided now it would be a waste of money.

SoapSudBub · 09/03/2015 20:18

We've had our last scan charlie feels very weird that next time we see buba will be on d day!!!

SparklyPenguin · 09/03/2015 20:35

charlie I'm also impatiently awaiting a 34-week growth scan, but mine's due to low placenta. Bit of a wait for us then!

LaLaLaaaa · 09/03/2015 20:44

I've no idea if I have braxton hicks - sometimes bump is hard in evenings I assume it's because I eat a lot!

Discharge is normal, I'm wearing panty liners to combat it which help.

Baby is somersaulting today!

LaLaLaaaa · 09/03/2015 20:47

I think water and gentle exercise should help. I've done daisy birthing classes and they've really helped me learn how to move about to get baby relaxed and comfy. One of the exercises has come in handy when I've got trapped wind! I wave my arms in the air and apparently it helps lift pressure off baby and stomach so helps everything get free. Definitely recommend daisy for anyone interested in natural birthing. They are not anti intervention at all though so even if you're having CS some of the exercises could help

Naturegirl82 · 09/03/2015 21:25

Can't remember who was talking about fitness dvds. But I have the Erin O'brien set (prenatal fitness, yoga, pilates and postnatal fitness ) and find it quite good.

Aretepetite · 09/03/2015 22:12

Evening ladies

Just git off the phone to my friend after an hour putting the world to rights! Well our world's and to say I'm tired is an understatement!

I haven't read back, I saw the msg from Zampa this morning with the car seat info, thank you, will have a look.
Also caught your msg as I logged on Nature, I had mentioned the dvds. I'm glad you posted as I'm sure I had the wrong name! Thank you too :)

I'm in bed with my saviour that is my preggy pillow :) also got a new memory foam mattress topper so it's sheer bliss. Been plagued with heartburn all day and night -bleurgh so glad to get to my bed.

I'm going to read back find out how you all are and any scan news or new info/advice to store and catch up on.

I'm sure you will all be good - us summer bunch are doing well :)

Goodnight x

( we have an unwritten rule that neither meor dh use phones in bed Confused i've been bending it of late.... :) )

BlazeofLight · 09/03/2015 23:00

Jmojo thank you so much, that was really reassuring.

I was feeling paranoid so managed to get myself seen and swabbed, but cervix closed and loads of fluid round the baby, so think it was totally neurotic on my part (just never had it with DS so panicked!).

20 week scan on Thursday, definitely counting down!

JoY007 · 09/03/2015 23:33

Hi All, had a bit of evening rest to relieve pain. Trying all suggestions, hot water bottle, drinking loads and just had 1 paracetamol before I snooze off for the night. Thanks everyone xx

Hi soapsudbud if feels like painful wind at first then it turns to tightening feeling, like the type you get when you've done stomach crunches for the first time but only 50ce worse. It's localiised, for me lower abdomen area. Also a FTM and I thought it would feel painful MP but not all.

Well off to bed now, hope I get a descent night rest, my treasure bump is quite active at night Smile

Good night everyone xxx

smallgreenbanana · 10/03/2015 05:41

Hi everyone, I read all your comments even if I don't necessarily mention people by name because it's a bit awkward on my phone. DH and I are on our last romantic holiday together. So far it's been super although I really wish my dear office colleague had stayed at home last week and not given me her cold Confused Hence insomnia

Feeling reassured that I'm not the only one with increasing fetal movements. Was starting to wonder if the baby is ok in there - maybe getting uncomfortable or distressed. It did not like a loud show we went to see yesterday at all. Thought it was trying to jump out of my uterus!

To Braxton Hicks ladies I have also been having them since early on. Two particularly unpleasant bouts in the middle of the night were preceded by tiring days when I had been doing a lot of walking and not drinking enough. They were so strong and painful they actually set off bowel movements Blush and I had to practice my breathing to get through the pain. Confused I almost rang my midwife after the second one like that. Learnt my lesson now.

Since then they are more like visible tightenings of my belly and a sudden feeling of discomfort which means I have to rest and not walk if it's daytime or shift around in bed to find a more comfortable position at night. They are not supposed to be painful but can be - as I have discovered!

fattymcfatfat · 10/03/2015 07:17

morning all. how is everyone.

I didnt sleep much last night (I never do) got another physio class today Sad the exercise isnt doing much. I dont know if taking that fall down the stairs knocked me and made me worse. I cant even do the school run without nearly crying Sad . on a brighter note, wriggler is going like mad in there! hes a proper little kickboxer! Grin

TouchPauseEngage · 10/03/2015 08:06

fatty can you push to see someone Else? Mine is also getting worse but she's managing to hold off a full deterioration with manipulation of the joints and muscles in the area. I know a lot of physios aren't hands on and sometimes you do need your joints manipulated before you can see any inprovement. It sucks doesn't it Flowers
charlie I have a scan at 28 weeks to see if placenta has moved. Seeing it as a bit of a bonus to see baby again and also will be interested to see and measurements as his head was massive at 20 week scan!!!

beno57 · 10/03/2015 09:24

Hello, I'm an infrequent poster but so pleased (in a weird way) to see others are getting regular BH. I have been having these for weeks and some of my friends thought it was weird to be having them this early on. For me I get a really hard area on my belly that rubbing helps. It feels like someone is tightening a belt.

Number3cometome · 10/03/2015 09:26

Seeing the anaesthetist today, hopefully I will be able to have this baby awake!

MuddyWellyNelly · 10/03/2015 10:13

Hi everyone. Like others said, normally post on phone so can't really name check.

20 weeks today. But having a stressy time. In the last week I've had definite movements and on Sunday morning had the first ever kick that moved my hand. Since then it's been quieter and I'm freaking out. Still get the odd bubble, including right now. In the early stages of movement is it normal to have inconsistent movement? When should I start monitoring it seriously? I guess it's still quite small. So possible that I don't feel every movement it does?

Anomaly scan on Thursday and it's par for the course for me to freak out in the run up.

Zampa · 10/03/2015 10:53

Muddy The movements I felt were initially quite random and infrequent. I am now 22 + 5 and feeling the lo move fairly regularly, at least a few times a day, mainly on the mornings and evenings. I think the key is to find out what is normal for you and to track anything that deviates from this. I have read that in later pregnancy it should take around 2 hours to feel 10 separate movements but I am not sure what it should be right now.

Zampa · 10/03/2015 10:56

Quite annoyed with my line manger right now. I am working from home today in a kind of timeshare arrangement with my colleague whose children have chickenpox. As I don't think I have had it, I want to avoid any contact that I can anticipate.

My line manager essentially thinks I am over-reacting and that I could just as easily contract it on the train. I being made to feel like I'm skiving when I just want to avoid contracting something that could give my unborn child a disability!

(As you can tell I am working very hard whilst posting on Mumsnet so maybe she has a point).

Fattycow · 10/03/2015 11:00

I have pregnancy class again tonight. I hope it will be more informative than last week, as we only got told things already know that time.

Movement is not something to be worried about as yet. We all still have a few more weeks to go before that point!

Hi All - I must have been so tired last night --- so many typos in my good night post Blush

I am ok today, did not sleep well last night, BH coupled with bubba movements and finding a comfortable position which was near impossible. I am so tired right now, hoping to leave after my 3pm meeting.

beno57 my friends are like yours only 1 remembered having them and she could relate, the others made comments such as you are not suppose to have them this early. Very untrue, as I read it starts from as early as 6 weeks but you will not feel until 2nd or 3rd tri, due to size of uterus. Refreshing that I am not the only one. This is one of the benefits of threads such as this, the reassurance and feelings of you are not alone Smile.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 10/03/2015 12:42

Not posted on here for ages as posts get swallowed up but I've just had a quick catch up while DD is occupied! Glad to hear everyone is doing well and feeling movements etc. I'm still having the 'double buggy or no double buggy' debate in my head but we're moving back to my home town in a couple of weeks which is very hilly so I think we'll go for one. My back isn't up to long term sling use I don't think. Will probably go second hand though as DD will be 20 months when number 2 comes along so I don't think it will get a huge amount of use!

23 weeks now and still haven't bought anything except 3 sleep suits Blush. I've made a list of things we need (mainly stuff we borrowed for DD but gave back as my friends had another baby).

I think we need:

Moses basket or crib
Double buggy
Sling (borrowed a baby bjorn last time)
Baby bjorn bouncer (not a necessity but DD loved the one we borrowed last time!)

I'm waiting until the baby is 6 months and we put her in her own room before I decide on whether to get a new cot or whether DD will be ready to go into a bed and therefore baby can have the one we've already got.
