LOL at your new accommodation TYG!!

Mine don't seem to be growing much yet. I was already 34E before I started, so hoping they won't get too out of control too soon [scared emoticon]

But I am only 9+2....

jessinwa · 26/10/2006 16:44

just thought i would add my two cents to the big boobies topic because i know a lot about it! my pre-preg boobs were a 40DDD (already big) and my nursing bras were 40H (H for HOLY SH!T). i am a big gal, but 40H is ridiculous.

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 26/10/2006 16:49

Hi all.

I should probably steer clear of the DHs and cleaning debacle. MrShowOfHands is better than most by the sounds of it. He does all of the cooking and washing up, makes me breakfast every day and does the laundry. I do the ironing, hoovering, polishing and clean the bathrooms. It's a fair trade I think!

Had a really eventful day today. I called in sick this morning as I have a rotten cold and it's started getting on my chest. I thought a nice relaxing day off would help. However, we had an appointment booked with a mortgage advisor as we have been thinking about buying for a while now. The appointment was made a week ago and we decided to keep it. Walking back to the car we peered in the estate agent's window and saw a house we quite liked, thought sod it and went in. Cue, them asking us if we wanted to go and take a look. Well, why not, day off, nothing better planned. It was fab! Needs a lot of work, but as it would be our first house we wanted something we could add value to. Big garden, nice kitchen, two bedrooms (one bedroom and a nursery? ), converted attic, working fires in the sitting room, dining room and master bedroom. It's great and affordable. So now we have another appointment to get a mortgage agreement tomorrow and a second viewing on Saturday (taking DH's step-Grandad with us as he's a builder and has renovated lots of places).

Now I'm terrified. I'm pregnant and we might end up buying a house. I've never done either before! I'm also petrified that somebody will swoop in tomorrow before our second viewing and buy the house. But we're first time buyers, we have no debts and I'm hoping there's no reason why this might not work. Eek!

Any tips from those of you with your own homes? More importantly, are we mad? Baby on the way, doing an MA part time, working full time, trying to buy a house etc I suppose it makes more sense to do it now before the baby arrives though.

Hope everybody's doing well. I've also come out of the other side of the pg fatigue, haven't fallen asleep on the sofa for two days now. That's a record! Just got to get rid of this bloomin' cold and I'll be tip top.

Anyway, didn't intend to write an essay!

Juicylucythe2nd · 26/10/2006 16:49

Now you're starting to scare me

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 26/10/2006 16:51

And my boobs are still only a 36C, tiny in comparison I suppose, but they're sore enough to make up for any size deficiency!

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 26/10/2006 16:52

40H? I can't even picture it! Where on earth do you put them?

Juicylucythe2nd · 26/10/2006 16:54

Whoops x posted -

Jessiwa is scaring me not you SOBASH!!

Stay chilled about the whole house thing. If someone get's in before you THERE ARE OTHER HOUSES.

House buying can be sooo emotive, try to stay detached as much as you can, but if it works out go for it.

Where is the house? Can't remember if we know where we all live...

jessinwa · 26/10/2006 16:54

showofhands, go for it! dh and i bought a home three years ago and it has turned out to be the best financial decision we have ever made. i am not familiar with the real estate market there but i am sure it is like most places. it is hard to make a bad investment in residential properties. plus, there is something magical about owning your home, especially with kids. good luck!

jessinwa · 26/10/2006 16:56

my 40H boobies sit somewhere between my chin and belly button, most of the time.
seriously though, i am thinking about getting a reduction after i am done nursing the new one. my back would be very happy.

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2006 17:01

I'm only 9+4 so don't hold your breath! (That will only make my chest stick out even MORE!)

Hahaha. Oh dear. Well, it's the one bit of weight gain DH ISN'T moaning about.

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 26/10/2006 17:06

I'm in Norfolk (Norwich) and frankly I'm a bit fed up of renting. The restrictions are a pita (we have to hide the cats if the landlord visits!) and I keep telling myself that it's better to do it now. Property's an investment that's not going anywhere and as the average age of a first-time buyer in this country is 34, I figure at 25 I'd be getting ahead of the game. Oh and it has a wood burning stove! Aherm, what's that you said about emotionally attached, it may be too late!

pebblemum · 26/10/2006 17:15

I am normally a 38B but i am already in 38D's. I never seemed to grow much with the boys yet here i am 2 sizes bigger already and im only 10wks!!! Luckily my mum is quite big in that department and has trouble finding bras that fit properly meaning she has lots of bras in her drawers that she has never worn ranging from 38D, 38DD and 38E so i know where to go if i get desperate.

Dh (when he is in a better mood) loves that my boobs have grown but hes not allowed near them because they are still very very tender, i suppose that could be why hes being a miserable bugger lately

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2006 17:16

40H. Wowzers. Won't be far behind you I don't think though. I started a 36D on last baby (and about 20 pounds lighter than now) and ended up a 38F I think. So that's up one back size and three cup sizes. Well I'm already up the three cup sizes so I could easily be 40G by the time I'm nursing... Tsk.

SOH - I'd go for the house. Easier to move when pregnant than when you ahve a baby and 10 tons of baby stuff to move. And as Jess says, it's practically always a good investment. Can't see any negative equity happening any time soon.

I'm buying for the first time now too. DH has bought before but it's my first mortgage. Not that my salary made a blind bit of difference. In fact the bank wrote something about approving it on basis of Applicant #1 (DH) exemplary record. I think that reads, "but your wife is a bloody nightmare with her overdraft."

But I digress... Go for it. And yes, it's very easy to get sucked into "virtually moving in" before you even make an offer. If you didn't ABSOLUTELY LOOOVVVEEE the place; why would you spend all that money? But, if you love it so much, you can end up really distressed if it falls through.

As a first time, chain free buyer, you're more attractive to vendors so that's good.

Good luck.

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2006 17:22

Renting sucks. And it's money down the toilet. Even if you have an interest only mortgage and never pay off any capital, you still have capital gain on the property.

I am going to grow old in my new house. DH will have to kill me to get me out of it. I think I'd ask for a divorce if he wanted me to move again after this. 7th move...

InTheseShoes · 26/10/2006 17:32

Well, I think I win the boobies competition - I am a 36HH not pregnant - last time, I bought 38K nursing bras! My friend has just dropped ds off after a birthday tea at a friends and just gone :"your BOOBS!!!" at my cleavage in a japanesey type top. Oh dear...

Pebblemum, I don't know or want to know the gender - I meant she or he. I do have a strong girl vibe, and ds is insisting on calling the baby "her" although I think dh would like another boy. He is just contrary as he wanted a girl last time.

Can't contribute to the dh/housework debate as mine is actually quite good. I put it down to him having very little interest in sport.

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2006 17:37

I think you need a trophy or something. Do you get backache?

MKG · 26/10/2006 17:38

Sobash--buy!!! We closed on ours two weeks before ds was born. I was on bedrest at the time so I sat on the couch in the new house and gave orders. Everything got done and I didn't lift a finger.

All y'all are making me feel small. I'm a 36C, not too small, and wore the same bras with ds. 40H you could get lost in there and no one would find you!

moomimin · 26/10/2006 17:52

hello everyone, wow what a lot of chat today. The only day in months I go out and you ladies are off!

I'm only a 36B although all this talk has made me notice they are bulging a little so probably time for a re-measure. I used to be a 40E but then lost 5stone and they went down to a 36B. God did I miss my boobies, but I suppose I've got used to them now, they would look a bit out of proportion otherwise.

Great to hear the scans went well today. Still no twins!

SOBASH you really must try to get into the if it happens it happens frame of mind when house buying. If it is meant to be your house then you will get it but as JL says there are more out there and maybe even better. Look real closely on your second look. You always see things you didn't see first time. Good luck with it and no I don't think your mad. Doing it all together saves it becoming a long drawn out process. Us women are good at handling alot, dont like to make it easy for ourselves do we.

on the dh's front. MEN!!!! although I have to add mine is pretty good. He is very helpful, not so much with the cooking, but always clears and washes after I've cooked. He takes over with the children as soon as he comes home from work. Does bath's and bedtimes start to finish with them both. Oh and he brings me and ds tea in bed everymorning. Although it has taken me 11 years to train him that way. lol

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2006 18:00

Actually, what moomimin is saying is very true. We got outbid on the first house we made an offer on. Then second one fell through. The first came back on the market and we went for another look and boy, were we relived we hadn't bought it. Realised that it really didn't suit our needs and we were wasting our money. Third house (one we're buying) is by far the nicest.

When poeple told me it was "probably for the best" when we lost the other houses I didn't want to hear it. But they were right.

Actually house #2 is still on the market. Vendor dismissed our very good offer and said he was holding on for more. Has now reduced the price to below what we were willing to pay. Silly man. He's let the estate agent convince him the house is worth more than it is.

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 26/10/2006 18:05

36HH! My God! I can't even begin to imagine that so a K cup is beyond my imagination. that your DH has no interest in sport, DH is a triathlete and also insists on watching obscure sports on TV at every given opportunity. He despises football though, so I can forgive him the rest. Was really pleased to read about your scan, great news and a huge relief for you!

pebblemum · 26/10/2006 19:21

I cant use sport as an excuse for dh, he isnt really into it either. He will watch the odd game of football and plays golf once a week but that is it. I think he is just naturally lazy or a male chauvanist He would rather lay on the sofa watching cartoons all day than put any efort into anything. He wasnt this bad when we met in fact he liked nothing better than taking ds1 out for a kick around. He gets worse as he gets older. Luckily im more than capable of looking after the kids and the house without his help. Its just now im pg and limited to how much i can lift that he is bugging me more. Bloody Men!!

Anyway enough about dh, im sure his ears have been burning a lot today. Im ed at how big everyones boobs seem to be even before being pg. I was always happy with mine but compared to you lot i must look like a little girl (pre pregnancy that is, not so much now)It looks like most of you could give Jordan a run for her money

aprilmeadow · 26/10/2006 20:27

congrats on hte scans ladies.

it has taken me half an hour to catch up on you gas bags!!! Bloody hell BOOBIES! I feel really small now!! I was 34B before ds went up to a 34DD then back to a 34C now a 34D. 36HH must be like a 2 man tent You must suffer from terrible back ache. That i do not envy.

Feeling ok today 13weeks!! Had a crappy day at work and have had to bring stuff home to do

InTheseShoes · 26/10/2006 20:44

I don't think I get backache, but then I've always had the tatas so, maybe I don't know anything else!

SOBASH, my dh does triathlons too, but does a lot of his training in th day (biking) and then is quite structured with the rest of the week so its part of the routine. He doesn't watch any sport on tv though

SKYTVMOSTHAUNTEDADDICT · 26/10/2006 20:46

Hi all

Not been posting as having busy half term. DDs keeping me busy.

Hope you are all ok and congrats on the scans. I have tried to catch up but its hard to keep up with you chatting.

I completley forgot about toilet paper tuesday and have just done it in front of DD2 and DP who now both think I am completley mad. It was only just over 9 sheets though and am 14 weeks now.

Clothes all now very tight and think I will be getting some maternity bras this weekend. I was 38D before pregnancy so hardly dare measure myself now! Most of my bras are underwired though and they are starting to dig in!!

I will probably also get some black maternity trousers this weekend as its the skirts and trousers I am struggling with.

largegingerpsychoandtonic · 27/10/2006 08:10
