moomimin · 24/10/2006 09:06

Morning everyone,

jess, no short posts alloud, we like the long ones! poor munch, poor you and what a little shite at the play area.

Although i have to say it is soooo hard, i think they all go through a bit of a stage of being a bit aggressive. Especially if they are the determined, stubborn leader type. I had a few moments with ds about a year ago when I was so embarassed and almost pulling my hairout at what to do with him. He wasn't a scratcher, bitter or pincher but if he couldn't get his own way he would slap the other children. I'm not sure where it came from because we don't smack. It took a few months of hardwork oh and plenty of 2 minute spells on the bottom step, to teach him that it is not nice to smack. Having said that he is a lovely boy now and if he happens to get a smack from a child now, he deals with it by saying "it's not very nice to smack, now say sorry to me please" bless!!!

aprilmeadow, will you really potty train before two? Isn't that quite young."they" say that a new baby in the house is one of the biggest reasons a child digresses after. Not sure whether it's true or not but I don't fancy a pile of wet and soiled pants within a few weeks of giving birth. I think as much as I won't like the fact that she is still in them I'll probably wait for a while after baby is here. I have till the following new year to get her out before she starts school.

Jess, just out of interest and you don't have to tell if you prefer not but do you actually call your ds Munch or Munchy, you know like a nick name? Its cute!

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 24/10/2006 11:21

I am most definitely not amused. How, pray tell me, did I get to 10 weeks with no nausea and now I spend the first half an hour of every day with my head in the toilet? And it's not proper sickness it's bloomin' retching. Eugh! And oh the irony of 'you'll feel better if you eat something' (thanks for that DH). I feel like death on a plate and you are proffering me porridge. Annoyingly, he's right though. It's only when I haven't eaten that I feel this wretched. I hate it when he's right.

Ignore me, I'm feeling sorry for myself. Went to a christening on Sunday and there were lots of children with bugs and viruses and obviously I now have a cold, a bad chest and sore throat.

But....

I HAVE A SCAN TODAY! I am currently fluctuating somewhere between excited and petrified. I never get the balance of how much to drink right. I guzzle water all day and then 10 minutes before the appointment I reach saturation point and think I'm going to burst. So, at about 2.45pm today I will be sitting in a waiting room jiggling (jury's out on whether I'll be jiggling through nerves or bladder issues!).

Other good news is we're getting another cat to keep our 5month old kitten happy (our other cat died a couple of weeks ago). It's actually our 5month old's sister we're adopting so we'll have two little tabby cats called Taqko (pronounced Tyshka) and Wombat. Double the fun!

Will get on again later to catch up with you all. Good luck with the scan redbull!

[nervous]

PS Poor little Munch and what a horrible little child you bumped into.

pebblemum · 24/10/2006 11:50

Morning ladies, glad to hear that for most of us the horror of MS is wearing off, about time. I still get the odd bout, normally at the worst possible times ie just as im going out. Talking of horrible smells in the house. Ive got the decorator painting my kitchen and last night i had the smell of emilsion and today ive got the smell of gloss and varnish, i normally dont mind but now it smells horrible. I wish my dh cooked. His idea of cooking is normally either a phone call out for pizza or chinese or a trip to burger king. The only thing he ever cooks is spag bol, although he does do it really well (hard to go wrong with it really when he uses sauce from a jar!!)

I wore a maternity top the other day, it was new and i thought i would try it on. It looked really nice but boy did i look big. I do anyway (a lot more than 10wks) but in the top i looked more like 4months) Im starting to get worried about how many are in there. I know its my third and i wasnt a size 10 when i first got pg but i seem to be expanding on a daily basis. My midwife joked about it being twins at my booking in appointment because ive had MS this time (didnt with the boys), plus my aunty had twins, her son just had twins and my other aunty should have had twins but one didnt make it. I know the chances of me having them is slim but i cant help worry, i seem to be surrounded by them at the moment.

I have now made out my xmas shopping list for the boys, still working on other people but the important ones are sorted, just need to win the lottery now to pay for it all Thinking about Christmas is the only thing taking my mind off of how much this pg is dragging.

pebblemum · 24/10/2006 11:55

Oops spoke too soon about the MS, sorry SOBASH that you are now suffering. Being pg is the worst time to catch colds, flu etc as theres not much we can take. I spent the last month of ds1's pregnancy with flu and it was horrible. I had to have this really foul tasting medicine especially for pg women as i couldnt shift it. Hope you feel better soon and good luck with the scan, im jealous, still no date for mine yet

Creena · 24/10/2006 12:15

Hello ladies!

It's Toilet Paper Tuesday! Have just measured my bump and am surprised to find that it's stayed at 9 sheets! So that's 9 sheets at 9 weeks.

Finally got my scan date through today - it's 2nd November (next Thursday) and I feel sort of excited and scared at the same time. Good luck to SOBASH and RedBull today - can't wait to see your scan pictures! I've updated the scan list;

redbullbloodandbump - 24th Oct
showofhands- 24th Oct
glitterkitty - 25th Oct
intheseshoes - 26th Oct
twelveyeargap - 1st Nov
mummymelling - 1st Nov
Creena - 2nd Nov
mkg-3rd Nov (second scan)

SOBASH - really sorry to hear that you're suffering with MS. What I find really strange is how I've begun to associate the feelings of MS with certain things. For example, I first visited Mumsnet when my MS was at its worst and so now, just logging into 'discussions' has me feeling queasy! Its the same with paint - I had the decorators in the other week and now even just the slightest whiff of gloss paint makes me want to have. In fact, even just thinking about the smell of gloss paint makes me want to heave!

InTheseShoes · 24/10/2006 12:18

Morning.(or it might be afternoon now?)

The brown is still going on, not quite as much I don't think and very brown. I was sick again last night and also fell asleep at 7.15pm, so I'm taking those as good signs. So many people on here and in RL seem to have had the same experience, I do feel better. Unless I get any red or cramping, I'm just leaving it until the scan on Thursday, as I am trying to be pragmatic, and think, "que sera, sera". I have my lovely ds to look after, and he has a busy half term planned, so don't want to disrupt his life too much (especially as, all being well, he will find out he is about to be a big brother on Thursday after the scan!)

He has a friend coming over this afternoon, so I have bought three trashy celeb mags to read as they will be playing and I can chill out. It is also a good excuse not to do any housework.

Glad to hear that the ms is easing for some - lots must be getting to the second trimester soon, so hopefully people will be feeling better.

Good luck to today's scan people, looking forward to hearing the news

puppydavies · 24/10/2006 12:54

hello everyone, do you mind if i join you? i'm 8wks+ with my second, have a 3 1/2 yr old dd. i worked out my due date at 31 may, so i'm a fair bit behind most of you i guess. i haven't even seen my doc yet, let alone booked in or got to the scan stage, so i don't feel particularly pregnant. oh except for the constant nausea and headaches

moomimin · 24/10/2006 13:13

Welcome puppydavies, some are not due until the very end of may either so don't worry about being behind. I'm sure you'll enjoy all our chit chat.

creena, can't beleive you've finally got that scan date through. More to the point it's before mine. How did they work that one out. Not fair.

You ladies are much cleverer than me on this mn. is it possible to bring the most upto date stats list from last weeks thread over on to this thread. Just thought it might be useful. I know I look at it a fair bit, to remind me of other children and where you ladies are.

Glad you are being pragmatic intheseshoes, Thursday will be here before you know it.

moomimin · 24/10/2006 13:15

jess and mkg, you are probably just about up now, just thought I'd say good morning.

Good morning in my time I just ate breakfast (mmm) and you guys are in the middle of lunch. Not much to report todaymy fatigue is starting to taper off which is good. I'm still sleepy but not as bad. I think month two is the worst. So far the start of month three has been ok.

charlyp · 24/10/2006 15:02

nkg - hope so, i had been feeling abit less knackered the last week or so am 8+6 but today almost went to sleep with head on toilet roll holder in the office .....

am plotting to slope off early and crash for an hour - can't get over how tired i am - 9 weeks tomorrow - scan on 17th Nov, just counting the days

jessinwa · 24/10/2006 15:12

moomimin, i know what you mean about awful stages. i had one when i was about four. my mom said i was a scratcher. i have no memory of it, but she said she had to constantly apologize for me. oopsies. yes, munch is his nickname. his real name is max. i don't care if you all know his name. in fact, i want you to. by the way, i am nine hours back from france, eight hours back from the uk and three hours back from where mkg lives.
showofhands, so sorry about the ms and the other sickness. getting sick during pregnancy is the worst.
puppydavies, welcome. we are a friendly, chatty bunch.
one very hungry munchy needs some food asap. i will have to catch-up later.
looking forward to scan chat later!

twelveyeargap · 24/10/2006 15:58

Hello All. I'm back. Still 8.5 sheets on Toilet Paper Tuesday.

Welcome puppy. Look forward to hearing more from you.

Was just racing through all the posts I missed. Who is it now, that's a month further on than we thought? I'm jealous anyway!

Was in Edinburgh at the weekend. I arranged it for Mr TYG's birthday present. We were supposed to fly up Sat am and back Monday pm, but unfortunately he forgot that he's agreed months ago, to look after his three nephews so his sister could go to a wedding. His BIL called him on Friday evening to check it was all ok and he was like, "huh?". Useless with planning. Anyway, I felt so bad when my parents in law were going to do a 300 mile round trip to look after the kids instead, so I said we'd change the flights. Ended up losing the BA flights entirely (£250 down the drain, plus £160 for new Easyjet flights) then the hotel for Sat night wouldn't let me cancel so there went another £100 and all in all it was a bloody expensive weekend. Could have gone to Spain for the amount of money that got wasted. Shocking. And somewhat frustrating for all my plans to be messed up. When we finally got to Edinburgh I realised in all the messing about with itineraries that I'd left my driving licence at home so my pre-paid hire car didn't get used and we had to get taxis. Such a mess.

Told DH's family never to plan anything with him. Always come to me. I don't forget that sort of thing. Even if I'd known a day earlier we could have saved the money and rebooked everything.

To top it all off, after a full day of entertaining a 4 year old and a 2 year old (though their 14 yr old brother was helping), chatted to BIL and SIL when they got back to our place I finally got to bed around 1am. Was just dropping off to sleep when I heard a child screaming hte place down that he needed the toilet. Ran downstairs to check the kids to find them fast asleep. Turns out it was the 4 year old next door who screamed for a good 20 minutes that he needed the toilet/ was going to wet the bed/ had wet the bed, whilst his parents ignored him. Dropped off again after 2 sometime only to be woken again by the same screaming. Was sooo close to knocking on the neighbours door to tell them to sort it out. Wasn't like it was a baby that couldn't help it. This is a four year old who should either be comforted, or if he's being naughty - sorted out. I didn't hear the parents in his room once. So inconsiderate of the parents to us, whatever about their parenting style with the child. Was wide awake then and ended up sitting in the kitchen having tea with DH til about 3.30am to get away from the noise. Then had to get up at 6.45 for my plane. Nightmare.

Thankfully the Sunday night hotel was lovely. A castle with a spa and it was really relaxing and we spent the day in the City yesterday.

I'm absolutely shattered though. Was hoping for a relaxing weekend away and that's what I got!

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 24/10/2006 16:03

I'm at work so I'm just sneaking on to say our very acrobatic little baby performed very well at its scan. Lots of waving and leg wiggling and even a mini backflip. Dates are spot on, everything is as it should be and we are very happy. Even saw the umbilical cord.

Will try and post the pic later!

Juicylucythe2nd · 24/10/2006 16:10

TYG - What a mare. I'd have been really pee'd off with my neighbour and wouldn't have been able to resist the urge to knock and rant!

Sorry your w/e wasn't as relaxing as planned.

Why do DH's still think they can make arrangements - they should just leave it to the experts. Mine is just the same (thinks he can still make decisions w/o checking with me!)

twelveyeargap · 24/10/2006 16:15

SOH, that's brilliant. Can't WAIT til next Weds for my scan. Would love to see the picture if you get a chance to post. Must be lovely to know everything is ok.

Juicylucythe2nd · 24/10/2006 16:16

SOBASH - cool news on the scan front. Hope mine goes as well tomorrow - although will only be 9+1

Be sure to post your piccie

InTheseShoes · 24/10/2006 18:15

SOBASH - so glad for you that all is well and you had a super clear scan by the sounds of it!

TYG - what a nightmare! At least you got one nice day and night out of it!

mummymelling · 24/10/2006 18:15

Evening all, well done on the scan SOBASH,cant wait to see the picture, cant believe ours is only a week away now.We have got the booking in clinic on thurs , it will be interesting to see what they have to say seeing as this is #5 ,should be ok as long as i dont have someone without any kids telling me what i should be doing.... lol!!

moomimin · 24/10/2006 18:18

SOH thats great news. Good luck for yours tommorow jucylucy. Oh and thanks for putting the stats accross. really useful for a forgetful brain like mine.

TYG, sounds like you need a holiday to get over your holiday. Shame it wasn't quite as you planned. Or should I say your DH didn't plan.

Jess, Max is a lovely name. I asked as my MN name is my dd nick name, and I do call her it all the time. I'm not sure she knows her real name, she's always moomi, moo moo's moomin or moomimin. Didn't realise you were 9 hours behind us. It's mad. Hope you have a good morning then btw.

jessinwa · 24/10/2006 19:03

i forgot to say earlier that dh is coming home early from his business trip! it was meant to be a surprise but i decided to check his itinerary online to see if munch and i could possibly pick him up at the airport and i noticed that it said he was to fly on tuesday instead of wednesday. i called him up in a panic because i wanted to make sure the travel arrangers hadn't made a mistake. it was middle of the night in portugal so dh was fast asleep. poor dh. i am so glad i found out about it because my house is a disaster! it looks like a bomb went off in a toy store in here. i would hate for him to think this is how we live when he is away. actually, he wouldn't care. i don't know how lg&t does it. the past ten days have been long and frustrating for both munch and i. dh has been missed.
moomimin, no matter how hard i try i can't say 'moomimin'. my mouth just can't do it! i think i messed up my tongue in my youth. i had my tongue pierced and ever since i took it out i can't say certain words. 'anesthesia' is the worst.

aprilmeadow · 24/10/2006 19:07

SOBASH - Congrats on the scan x

OMG - Actually forgot about TPT!!! Just measured and still the same at 7.5 sheets. DH thinks i have now completely lost the plot!

TYG - sorry your w/e was so stressful. Men eh!

Welcome Puppydavis - please dont forget to let us know your measurements for Toilet Paper Tuesday! Just wrap a length of bog roll from belly buton to belly button and count the number of squares.

OP posts:
mummymelling · 24/10/2006 19:13

Still only 9.5 sheets lol, had to explain the whole trt thing to DH who just lookedat me with a really bemused look on his face ,as if to say "it must be her hormones, shes really lost it " pmsl, men they never quite get it do they bless em, wheras we women can so totally see the logic of measuring your pg bump with loo roll . xx
