Good luck for today JL!

mummymelling · 25/10/2006 10:09

The scan is amazing!!!!!!!
Puppydavis i feel like that esp if im tired or dont eat for more than 2hrs, and cooking makes me feel sicky as well xxsupposed to be a good sign of a healthy pg tho lol

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 25/10/2006 10:17

Thanks mummymelling. I was surprised to see so much at 10+5, but he/she was a real little person and incredibly active. We're both due on the 17th I think so that must be similar to what your lo is currently like. Can't wait to hear how your scan goes next week. It's so exciting!

mummymelling · 25/10/2006 10:22

Oh yes i forgot!! im going back for another look in a min ,my scan is a nuchal trans one ,we have to pay for it and the blood tests , we dont get dating scans here on the nhs, unless there are any probs ,but then you dont see the midwife until 12wks so its a bit late by then lol xx

scootermum · 25/10/2006 11:01

Hi all,
Blimey you've all been busy on the posting-ive only had one day off and there is loads!Im very jealous of all your scans-mine isnt till the 21st November!
I thought I would have a lovely relaxing day yesterday and nearly managed it!DD slept like an angel till 10.30am-unheard of!And again for two hours in the afternoon-again unheard of!So you'd think I would be able to put my feet up-but no, sick as a pike all day long.Must surely have been a bug not the MS.Feel a bit better today, but a bit feeble..
Have just eaten my lunchtime sandwich as was starving..I am a disgrace..
Just scrolled down re the having two kids in nappies. How do I feel about it?Petrified!I cant cope with one and work and normal life.Never mind tow ankle biters.(I am freaking out this week.Last week I was ok.It comes and goes!)
My name is Scooter mum just because our lovely cat is called Scooter and he was my baby before I had a real one.(Now I have one he is more like a teenager and is acting up something chronic scratching things and up all night.Am rapidly going off him).

Could the weather be any more disgusting.(In London any rate?)I have just been outside for 10 mins as the fire alarm went off in the service.Ruddy freezing and wet through!

moomimin · 25/10/2006 11:47

Hi

Yes mummymelling I am an hour ahead of you. I also worked for two years with the learning dis team. I didn't do resedential as such because I worked as a support worker for very mild ld, they all had there own bungalows in a little purpose built street. Before that I'd spent 5 years as a ski instructor teaching on a dry ski slope then another 5 years managing the centre. After ds was born I wanted more flexible hours so joined the ld team. It was amazing work. I loved every minute of it including the nasty bits. errrr! If i ever went back to the UK I would go back into that line of work. With a bit of slimming world consultant on the side. Fortunatey whilst we are living in France I don't need to work, so it is quite nice to be at home with the children.

A friend of mine has a lo in the same class as my ds at school, she has just phoned to say that the school has phoned and she has to go and pick him up as he has a stone stuck up his nose?

btw they can start school in France from 2yrs old.

The scan pic is lovely SOBSH

Juicylucythe2nd · 25/10/2006 12:04

Just wanted to let you all know that the scan went really well and little pod was wriggling it's little legs with a big strong heartbeat. Still only measures 25mm, but it was great to see it moving about.

Very happy today and am going to try and enjoy this feeling and not worry too much for the next 3 weeks until my 12wk + nuchal on the 14th.

Feeling very

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 25/10/2006 12:08

Fantastic news JL!

I am so pleased for you. Roll on the 12wk scan.

In fact, roll on May!

moomimin · 25/10/2006 12:24

Great news JL.

mummymelling · 25/10/2006 13:11

Well done JL, we want pics have you got any???? lol, ive gone scan pic mad at the mo,only till i get mine.We ought to do a rogues gallery of our 20wk scans, and were still waiting for our first set of TWINS xx

Juicylucythe2nd · 25/10/2006 13:28

I have a piccie, but pod is really only a big smudge in the middle of it. Couldn't get a good piccie.

Also the only place I can scan it is at work and no-one there knows yet, so won't be able to do it today!

Now I'm looking forward to the 12wk BIG scan and greater detail and hopefully everything being "normal".

Creena · 25/10/2006 13:43

Redbull - that's an excellent scan picture! It's made me all hormonally emotional!

JuicyLucy - great news on your scan too! I'm so pleased for you.

Jessinwa - what a nice surprise to find your husband is coming home ealier than planned!

I think I also spoke too soon about the morning sickness easing off as I had a rotten day yesterday. I think I'm coming down with another cold, which is just what I need right now!

Juicylucythe2nd · 25/10/2006 14:43

Creena poor you. I seem to have a malingering cold in addition to the odd burst of ms, so can sympathise. Just want to have duvet days for the next 3 weeks!

scootermum · 25/10/2006 15:34

Im colded up as well. Its disgusting.
Mummym and Moomimim I have 7 LD people living in my service and they are by far the most fun and rewarding to work with.Although I do have a soft spot for my elderly people as well-they make up the rest of my service.
I used to love love my job till I had dd.I have to say that I still find leaving her awful and I would much rather be at home with her.Maybe will look for a new job after this baby thats is not care related as I do think you need to be really focussed to do the people justice really and Im not at the moment. But then my pay is quite good and I dont know what else I could do really...Astronaught?Park Ranger?Who knows?..

France sounds lovely.School at 2.But not like real proper lessons though surely? Is it free as well? And you can eat blue cheese and pink steak and drink wine without anyone batting an eyelid eh?I had a pepperoni pizza last night and my MIL told me off!Is there anything wrong with well cooked pepperoni anyway?!

scootermum · 25/10/2006 15:35

Congrats on all your scans as well!Im so looking forward to mine, but also scared to death at the same time.Feel im tempting fate a bit as dh cant come as he has a CIMA exam that morning. So if its bad news will be on my own.Scary.

InTheseShoes · 25/10/2006 16:26

Juicylucy, so glad to hear your news that all is well on your scan! Good strong heartbeat is excellent news!!

Will be back to report on mine tomorrow - the brown spotting has more or less stopped thank God, so I'm feeling much more hopeful now.

MKG · 25/10/2006 20:57

"Ding dong the fatigue is gone"

Now I don't have an excuse for laying in bed all day long.

Last night dh tells me he doesn't think I'm really pregnant. He says it hasn't hit him yet. He couldn't go to my first scan and he can't go to the one on the 3rd so he'll have to wait. He's such an idiot.

pebblemum · 25/10/2006 21:10

Good luck tomorrow InTheseShoes and congratulations on all of you who have been lucky enough to have your scans already. Im still waiting but will chase it up if i dont hear by Friday.

Moominin-there are a lot of us Stone's about, we get around, who knows you may turn out to be my cousin, oops better watch what i say about my family from now on I used to hate my surname at school, my married name isnt much better. Its fairly simple but everyone gets it wrong. I hate names, thinking of them for our LO's is even harder, always worrying in case they grow up to hate it.

Ive had a rather boring day, went shopping, came home and sat on my bum. My kitchen is almost finished (big cheer)just need the floor and extractor fan done and it is ready, i can get back to normal and have a life No more waiting in for builders that dont turn up, i cant wait.

moomimin · 25/10/2006 21:20

Evening all.

scootermum, yeah school is really good. From 2 if they are dry. All day if you want from 9- 4.15 or they can do half day till 1. 3 course hot meal for lunch, no packed lunches allowed.

It is very structural but based around play untill they are 3.5. Then they start their workbooks. Reading, writing, math. ds loves it, I was very proud a few weeks ago when he came home and told me he had learnt to write his name. I didn't really believe him, until he grabbed paper and pen and showed me. It was one of those moments I nearly cried,he's not 4 til christmas so wasn't really expecting it yet. Oh and it's not a short name. He is called Harrison so a few letters to learn. The only problem is he has learnt the letters in French so we now have to try to teach him what they are in English. It is only a tiny school mind, only 48 in the whole school aged 2-11. Only 3 classes so they mix the school years and have 3 years together. In the first 3 years, which is Harrisons class up untill he is 4.5 there are 14 children, two teachers. Oh and yes it is free!!! except lunch which is about 90 pence a day.

Don't think there is anything wrong with well cooked pepperoni but I'm probably not the best person to answer that as I eat anything.

Glad you are feeling better MKG. I too am able to heave myself off the sofa for more than 10 minutes at a time, so it's got to be getting better.

moomimin · 25/10/2006 21:25

hehe pebblemum, I thought that too when I read the name stone. But none of my cousins have any children so you are safe to rant if you need too.

Good luck tommorow intheseshoes, we'll be waiting for news!!!

jessinwa · 26/10/2006 03:07

moomimin, the schools there sound fantastique! i am in awe at how early they start free schooling. surely you pay for it in taxes, but it must be nice to live in a culture that values education. that is not the case here. it seems that we have to constantly vote in order to secure funds for education.
sorry, i don't really have time to get caught up. i read a couple posts down and then decided to stop before i spend hours in front of this computer. will get properly caught up tomorrow.
dh got home last night (yippee!) and didn't work today (yippee!) so we have been dining out and trying to please munch who seems to be coming down with a cold. it is his first real cold so i do not mind. it is good exercise for his immune system. i missed my dh so very much. i am a lucky, lucky girl.
by the way, do any of you have a flickr account? if you do we should exchange flickr usernames. it would be fun.

twelveyeargap · 26/10/2006 09:24

Morning. MKG I am so jealous your fatigue is gone. I'm hoping mine will be gone in another couple of weeks. I'm boring even myself with it at this stage. I was saying the other day, "I'm sure it wasn't this bad the last time", and my friend pointed out that last time, I was twelve years younger, in school, no job, no family to look after and had a mum who made my dinner every night. (Albeit made it with a face like a wet weekend due to the fact her daughter had "ruined her life", but I got plenty of rest nonetheless!)

Moominin - I remember hearing in French class that older children can stay in school til early evening to facilitate working parents. Seems like a great idea in one way, but I wonder does it feel like an awfully long day for them? I expect they separate "school" from "after classes" or something?

I went to a small primary school, btw, with three year groups per teacher. I thought it worked very well. I loved it.

All the scan pics are making me very excited for next Weds. I can't wait.

Had a mare of an evening last night. Left work at 4.30 as I had flats to see at 5, 6 and 7 o'clock in West London, North London and further North respectively. Scooted on my moped for 40 mins in the lashings of rain to get to the first one and as I was late, I stopped to call the agent to say I'd be there in a couple of minutes and ask her to wait. Discovered a message on the phone saying "Oh, sorry, we thought we had the keys but we don't so hope you get this before you leave." G-reat. Turned round and headed to second flat which was the worst dump I've ever seen and you couldn't have paid me to live in it, never mind pay £500 a week for it. The bathroom was in the attic so you couldn't actually stand up straight. And the kitchen was like something my granny had in her house in 1955. Anways, went to the final house (like a drowned rat). The house was gorgeous, belonging to a nice lady who is renting it out whilst she's on a long holiday. Told her I definitely wanted it - it even had parking for the scooters in the front garden and then she told me she might not be going on Oct 31st as planned, it might be end Nov as she might be taking on a job for the last two weeks Nov. Which would completely mess it up for us. Have everything crossed she decides the job is not worth changing her holiday for. After seeing this, I don't think I can bear to live in any of the other dumps I've seen. Booo.

On the upside, my boss is off sick today, so once I clear his diary, I can probably do some serious skiving.
