yup hiding that's it, got my sample pots from thenappystash.co.uk I've got a mix of unscented, natural fragranced and synthetic fragranced pots, I love the pixie pie (one of the synthetic fragranced ones) steer clear of monkey farts unless you love bananas.

I've got a mixture of ebay cheeps, Miosolo and wee notions reusables. We've got some reusable liners, but tbh i use the disposable liners more when we're actually bothering to use reusables on our juice guzzling DD We dry pail (but them in a net in a bucket) and then put a scoop of miofresh in the wash once we have a load as soaking can damage the waterproof PUL lining

Aw daholster hopefully your car is relatively easy for them to sort out. A couple of months ago I broke down in mine on a busy junction, luckily I was with my mum but it was so embarrassing and I panicked and we obviously stood on the grass verge, being pregnant I didn't really want to stay sitting in the car with traffic around and I think that's what they generally advise anyway. Turns out it was my fault and my diesel had run really low (oops) Confused The RAC came earlier than expected then so that was good.

Cavetroll how long are you off work for? I go on maternity in early March due to my job being quite active, I'm a cleaner at a leisure centre (which doesn't sound stressful I know) and there's not much time for sitting down and one part of the cleaning is 2 hours in the swimming pool changing room.. at peak time when the children are in and out of swimming lessons. And yes it is very muddy as people don't read the signs and don't wear the plastic shoe coverings.. And yes I have to deal with all of the complaints if any. Using the squeegee for 2 hours straight can feel back breaking. And because of this I can't really take light duties as that is my main job!
I'm hoping I won't get too bored as my maternity leave is relatively early!

And thanks for the replies on the clothing situation! I was in Next today with my mum (she was shopping, not me) and nearly went to look in the children's clothes section but didn't bother as I didn't have any money on me! Will definitely have a look as I didn't realise you could get 'up to 1 month' size. That sounds great and Next clothes are lovely!

TheBooMonster · 11/02/2015 19:36

rl we luuuurve next clothes, some of our cutest bits are from there, but it's a bit on the ouch side pricewise (compared to Sainsbury's who always have one sale or another on)

smogsville · 11/02/2015 19:53

Bit of an epic post warning as I try to get around everyone. Sitting down at last DD seems to have gone to sleep hooray.

Squatting - LOL for LTB! I too have been wondering why and how we are having a second. I keep hanging onto the idea that at some point in time the children will begin to amuse themselves and we will have tiny little moments of repose. Ha ha bloody ha!

Yeah Cave Troll that's bollocks. I am perpetually amazed at how badly and carelessly people behave around preg is given the protection that's in place legally. Hope you're ok.

daholster - sorry you've had a tough afternoon and what a shitter on the broken down car I hope RAC get to you quickly. I was wondering myself how I'm going to manage swimming with a little one in tow. Wednesday is going to be my toughest day by far.

Wine your friend sounds v wise. Classes like that need people like her. I agree with minipie - I'm v keen on BF but only if people who need help and support actually get it. Who knows, I might need it this time - maybe it was just luck that I found it so easy with DD?

RL - I've half packed the bag. Going to have a go at finishing it off tomorrow just for peace of mind really and a nice fat TICK. I do love a tick.

Siarie - did you buy the tub of frosting that they sell to go with that cake? I don't dare bc I know I would just sit on the sofa with a spoon and finish it all in one go without even bothering to make the cake.

Cinnamon I was like you - thought I'd be all about routine as I am in life but quite quickly just let DD decide what was happening and when. We soon settled into a routine only it was of our own making.

Penguin - I recommend waitrose bottom butter for hospital bag which I used from the get go on DD and she literally never got nappy rash. NCT teacher recommended it and it's safe from birth. Could have just been blind luck on the nappy rash of course but suffice to say I'll be using it again this time round.

Boo- yes they are lovely I remember going in there a few years back when my partners daughter was about 3 and buying her a few bits. So I never actually looked at the boys clothes but I'm excited to now Grin
Some of partners family have bought a few babygrows from sainsburys which are nice but I haven't been in myself yet, so that's also another place on my list!
Does anywhere else do the size 'up to 1 month' specifically or is it just Next? Another novice question from me Grin I'm going to have a quick snoop on Next website now Smile

Smog I love a nice big tick too, but I've only just managed to finish my actual hospital bag list! I do know which bag I'll be using though so I'll perhaps dig it out once I get out of the bath. And add the few bits in to it that I've got already.

Squatting I missed your post whilst I was typing.
Sorry to hear your partners out again. It makes you feel a bit lonely doesn't it. Especially when were hormonal and stuff. I think my partner mentioned he's going out in a couple of weeks time at the weekend for a works thing. I'm not looking forward to it already Hmm

RL20 · 11/02/2015 20:15

Oh and thanks! I'll check them all out

TheBooMonster · 11/02/2015 20:16

ooh rl I'll dig you out my spreadsheet! with shops and sizes by name and weights! www.booandbel.co.uk/2015/01/an-interesting-for-parents-to-be-point.html Some places call up to 1 month newborn just to be extra confusing! Next had gooooorgeous little shirts when I was in there last, I'm still mourning the loss of the boy I had convinced myself this bump was, I had months and months of little shirts ready to buy from next and mother care, but allas I have more frills and pink, which is equally fab, but... teeny shirts....

TheBooMonster · 11/02/2015 20:19

pretty sure Sainsburys also do an up to 1 month which is 10lb but they're not on there for some reason. Will dig out the clothes, 2 secs!

TheBooMonster · 11/02/2015 20:20

their up to 1 month is 9lb O.o, up to 3 is 14.3lb and newborn is 7lb

TinyTear · 11/02/2015 20:26

I really liked sainsbury's sleepsuits last time. Need to go and stock up

Siarie · 11/02/2015 20:31

Pretty much all my baby clothes are Next, Zara, M&S or John Lewis. I've been pleased with all the quality although the sizing does vary!

AnniaFausta · 11/02/2015 21:05

I have no idea how much weight I've put on and I'm happy to keep it that way (as I said on a previous thread, I've a tendency towards obsessive behaviour that could lead into ED territory, so it's best just not to have scales in the house). I did check with my midwife about BMI, and apparently around here they use the BMI at the booking appointment as the guide, which is well under the threshold. Which was reassuring to know.

Slept with earplugs in for the first time last night. Had the desired effect of muting the electronic hum and stopping the random house background noises, but also appeared to cause really vivid dreams and made me really aware of how dry my mouth was! Swings and roundabouts...

Definitely feeling the knackered/aches over the last few days. Monday my back played up something rotten, and this afternoon I was so sleepy I almost fell asleep in an important presentation Blush Managed to stay awake through the very long. detail-orientated meeting after it, for which I mainly thank the Twix I wolfed down in the ten minutes between the two.

Oh, daholster, it's one thing after another! Glad the man turned up quickly and hope it's all straightforward.

IvegotaCaveTroll · 11/02/2015 21:36

The clothes all look the same size to me Confused. My baby will prob look like it's in a sack!

RL I'm off till the end now. I'm 30 weeks but have annual leave from 33 weeks as I was expecting my back to go- just not so early and I wasn't expecting vomiting. Obstetrician has told me not to work therefore my insurance is not vallied for me to look after patients.

This consultants made me feel really worried which is stupid- can't believe she said she'd be cross - like I'm about 8!!

Ah well at least il be early not late with induction. Nice to focus on.

I hope everyone else having issues is ok.hormones make it harder to cope. Sorry for being miserable.

PenguinPoser · 11/02/2015 21:36

Hope you are safely home now daholster a car breakdown is really not what you need but pleased they got to you quickly.
Thanks for the recommendation smogs not sure where my nearest waitrose is but when I spot one I will have a look at the bottom butter.

Agree clothes sizing is so confusing isn't it. I have a mixture of clothes from supermarkets, next, M&S and all sizes are totally different. The quality of the Next things feels really good although expensive, won't be shopping there all the time!
I've noticed recently there is a shortage of interesting unisex clothes... So after buying some more today going to try and hold off until we know baby's sex. Have got some lovely bodysuits though (again from next) some today with fingerprint animals on in bright colours and the other week got some giraffe ones with matching hat!! GrinBlush I'm easily pleased!

daholster · 11/02/2015 21:40

The man was nice. Lugging the car seat into his van cos he wasn't supposed to do it/didn't know how or something was less than ideal. He tried following us home but at the huge A3 roundabout the car cut out and I had to drift across all the lanes getting beeped at, then managed to get it to crawl to the kerb. Then he towed it to our garage for tomorrow which was great, then brought us home. Dd standing by the side of the road in her fleece onesie saying "don't like it man's car" as I'm trying to shove this huge seat in the front of a van was perhaps not a highlight!

It may be that this is going to write off the car. What timing!!!

I am not meaning to be a downer at all, I know you all know a lot is going on in many ways with my hours, DH's work, now the blooming car... But I feel utterly rubbish this evening. Dh and I were going to do valentine's night tonight. I got stuff from the shop as a surprise, flowers for the bedroom, I was going to creep up and set up candles and sprinkle some hearts I got on the fresh new bedding I got for my birthday, I bought him a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates and we were going to just go to bed early with the pizza I bought, and the computer for if we wanted to browse together or play games, and do whatever else might evolve... I was looking forward to it. Not only is it too late, I don't feel right at all, and he has just been told one of his interviews for promotion will be tomorrow morning at 10am so he is trying to revise for that, all stressed! His fairly free day on Friday when he was going to spend some time on tackling the house mess has been taken up by some idiotic person at work so he now has to go to London despite having done his hours the rest of the week by working late so he could free up his work from home day a bit. So he's just doing extra as far as I am concerned with little choice. I'm trying to do work and out of hours for the next 2 days trying to rely on in laws for lifts. What a nightmare!

None of this matters a jot in the scheme of things. By Monday it'll be over. But I just want to cry. Dd has been lovely interspersed with hard work, and difficult things like sorting the car seat, changing after swimming, the car, the tantrums in the shop - all just stretch me. I have stomach ache but I'm hungry, then can't decide if I feel sick. I want to go to bed and sleep but don't want to because tomorrow is an early start and then I'm basically working til Saturday when dh will go out and in laws will babysit. He'll come home from the rugby having had a few drinks and I'll still be exhausted and probably in an embarrassing shit tip feeling terrible that my in laws are sitting in it. Mainly I don't want to go to bed yet because I don't feel I can face work in the morning. I ache in my back and I just want my beautiful tidy house and time with dh to just be for a bit.

I'm just so bloody exhausted!

Sorry for the whinge, again, I think it's the only way I get on with it sometimes Sad

And apologies for the language. It's just how I feel at the moment, I don't know why swearing feels so satisfying sometimes! - but I don't intend to offend anyone.

Want to have a little sob right now Sad

PenguinPoser · 11/02/2015 21:40

Ivegotacavetroll sorry cross posted, sorry you're feeling so rubbish Sad I understand the pressure of your kind of job and the pressure that can be put on you to be looking after others rather than yourself. You're looking after you and baby which is all that matters, not silly audits and consultants! Do you go back to same job after your maternity leave or will you have moved on?

cinnamongreyhound · 11/02/2015 21:41

Oh daholster, not a good couple of days Sad

I found clothes tend to go a bit bigger than the sizes say and the same with nappies but some newborn sizes are only up to 7lb and I think with an 8lb 12.5 and a 9lb 2 baby 7lb clothes aren't a great ideas!

Next clothes are fab and don't bobble. Tesco baby clothes don't last long without bobbling but with them not fitting long it's not a big deal. Next also often have baby clothes on their 50% off sales so stock up on the next size you'll need then.

Waitrose bottom butter is good and can be used on faces too for chapped noses from colds but sudocrem is always my first choice in nappy creams. I wouldn't say that newborns don't need nappy cream either.

I didn't bathe either of mine in hospital, was told to wait a few days with ds1 but didn't get any advice with ds2.

PenguinPoser · 11/02/2015 21:43

And Brew for you daholster along with some Cake.

daholster · 11/02/2015 21:45

And I know many of you are feeling similar, I hope you all feel better soon. I sound pretty selfish Flowers

And cavetroll don't do it, unless you are well enough. As simple as. Speak to your ES. It's not appropriate, you're signed off, not on altered duties, for a reason, so don't take it. Some consultants are bullies. It takes a junior sometimes to stand up and highlight it. Good luck with whatever you choose. I like the medium of email, saved overnight and re read before sending in the morning Wink

AnniaFausta · 11/02/2015 21:47

daholster, as far as I'm concerned you're totally entitled to a little swear if it makes you feel even a modicum better. You've had a really rough couple of days. I hope you can get as early a night as possible, and that you get a bit of cuddling time with DH to tide you over to the weekend. Hang in there.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/02/2015 21:51

X-posts daholster, not surprising you're feeling down Sad. Even if it will be over Monday, it still sucks now! Go to bed and hopefully have a good nights sleep and things will hopefully look better in the morning. Really hope some good luck comes your way soon! Plus you can have that evening with Dh when he's not revising and you're not as tired and stressed even if it's not valentines.
