Our Yodel man is nice, stops me if he sees me and gives me my parcels rather than make me have to phone his office etc. And I'm lucky, my neighbours are friendly and like me :)

lila35 · 06/02/2015 16:39

Well this is exciting!!!

I have pictures of our foot muff and bag and I love them!!!

FiRaffe · 06/02/2015 16:51

Sounds awesome Smogs!

The footmuff and bag are beautiful lila -so unique!

ChickenMe · 06/02/2015 17:28

Glad you got your hugs dances. I can't wait to hug mine. I started a journal in January. It's kind of like letters to the baby. To give to it when older.
cinammon you are amazing with your running esp as it is freezing today. I went for a walk and got a stitch Blush. I do go to the gym occasionally. I knackered my knee some years ago over-training sprints on concrete. Clever.
Re names girls' names easy. Boys I only like Johnathon, Joshua and Leo. Grr. I like Miles but doesn't go with surname.
We want to get the bugaboo Chameleon but I feel bad about the £. However I think it could have a good sell-on value?

smogsville · 06/02/2015 17:46

FiRaffe, it was! In pjs now and looking forward to lying down soon and catching up on Mr Selfridge as DH has gone out for leaving drinks.

On buggies - will be reusing DD's maxicosi Streety.

As you can probably tell, DH and I prefer to spend our money on food than on the fancier buggies Wink but I've never heard of anyone being unhappy with the performance of a bugaboo, once they've got over the expense. In the end I really liked sling rather than buggy and got a light as can be Maclaren at 6 months so it would have been a bit of a waste of money.

I got a sling too smog although OH will not use it as it is garish. I like to spend a lot on food too hehe. But the best food you can afford I say. My parents offered to buy the buggy. Feel bad as in their day it was more like a deckchair on wheels! I asked my mum if £600 was ok because I was after the Bee. But we went to Mothercare and I was like "look OH you can pick it up with one hand" (my criteria was a light buggy) did so and a wheel fell off. So it was curtains for the Bee after that.
MIL was touting the iCandy which she wants which I really dislike. It looks heavy (sorry if anyone has one).

ChickenMe · 06/02/2015 18:17

But Buy

Wineandchoccy · 06/02/2015 18:49

I am so tired today thank goodness it's Friday. DH is making curry then it's bedtime for me and bump.

We are going on a tour of the birthing suite tomorrow afternoon, there are 2 midwife led units near us one that is a stand alone unit and the other is attached to the hospital so just need to decide which we think is best.

FiRaffe · 06/02/2015 18:49

The minefield of prams is mad. They don't make it easy to compare either! No-one ever talks about the one we chose (Chicco Urban), so hopefully we'll get on with it on and it'll suit our lifestyle!

Lauren82000 · 06/02/2015 19:08

Feeling rather green, had a glass of orange juice when I got in and it's just not sat right since. Confused Have no idea what to make for tea. Might just end up with left over lasagne.

Nunkie · 06/02/2015 19:20

Blimey, the Mumsnet app really is beyond bad - can't even see the photos you've posted of the Zoom mechanism, Squatting - will check on my computer later though!

We also looked at Bugaboo, tho felt the steering was worse than either the Joolz (which steered beautifully, looked beautiful and was lovely in many ways, but small basket and awkward to collapse... in fact I think it may even have put my back out - and expensive of course!) or the Graco Evo XT (which collapsed really easily and looked like a bargain, but apparently only takes Graco car seats which are meant to be rubbish!)
We also looked at a Phil & Ted (feels really hefty, not great to collapse).
In the absence of a shop assistant, just couldn't work out how to collapse an icandy at all (plus OH dislikes that chromey look - nil points! :0D) tho I have a friend that speaks highly of them.
Have heard good things said about the Babystyle Oyster, as far as good alrounders go.

My head's spinning with all the buggies we've looked at! :0D

Ooo, That River Cafe meal sounds dreamy!! (Their cookbook is one of OH's favs)

cinnamongreyhound · 06/02/2015 19:24

Hope you feel better soon Lauren82000, I am too scared to drink orange juice at the moment!

I've had an amazingly productive day! Ran this morning, wrote new contracts for one of my parents, took biggest dog have his claws clipped, load of washing washed and hung, dishwasher put on and emptied, bathroom, shower room, downstairs loo and shower cleaned, garden de-poo'd and dogs walked once minded kids went home. Will probably fall asleep in a minute!

smogsville · 06/02/2015 19:31

cinnamon you win threader of the day! You must be feeling v accomplished.

On buggy comparison - I don't know how useful it is but think John Lewis website has a tool where you can select up to four and compare them - think it brings up a chart showing what they all have side by side. Might be useful if you've narrowed it down a bit?

I've got a couple of friends with Bees who are now using them for their second children, they've been happy with them and apparently bugaboo is good at replacing parts like worn wheels and so on esp if you buy through JL as you then get to benefit from the reliable customer service.

solstice930 · 06/02/2015 19:53

I've been out of the loop for a few threads! Congratulation on your little girl dances Glad your getting some cuddles in.

For buggies, we got the M&P Sola and I loved it. Didn't bother with the carry cot, but with adapters you can use a maxi cosi car seat. It was sturdy, folded up easily, had a big basket and was forward and rear facing.
But when my DD was about 18 months we switched to a lighter umbrella stroller, and gave the Sola to my SIL. I'd like to use a sling for the baby and keep DD in the stroller and avoid a double buggy if possible!

But I highly recommend looking at the Sola if you're unsure. It ticked all the boxes and was reasonably priced (especially in the January sales!)

Lauren82000 · 06/02/2015 19:55

Thanks cinnamon I'm starting to feel a bit better so stuck my lasagne in the microwave. It always tastes better the day after Wink

AnniaFausta · 06/02/2015 19:56

My parents, as part of the Great Carseat Quest, have borrowed some kit off a friend's daughter and as a result have come out strongly against the Bugaboo - "very heavy, very tricky to collapse" said Dad seriously. We've got a date in the diary to go and roadtest some in John Lewis, but we need to do research this weekend first - when we had a look in our local baby shop last weekend, we both froze with panic and not knowing what we were looking at. Best summed up by DH - "why has this one got an LCD screen?" (No, we couldn't work out the answer.)

TheBooMonster · 06/02/2015 20:03

fir is that called natural nursing or something like that? I've heard of it, not sure DD would have had enough crawling / wiggling capability for that to work, worth a go though.

nnorwich ladies the Mama's and Papa's store is a bit picked through! got some lovely orange and purple newborn sleep suits (with mice on i think) that went through the till at £6.60, wish I'd bought a few packs now, was devastated to find not a single muslin in sight though! had been hoping to grab a pack of their giant unisex ones :/

smogsville · 06/02/2015 20:21

Annia big LOLZ for your Dad bless him for taking it all so seriously!

Cisforcat · 06/02/2015 20:22

I don't know too much about buggies but we got an icandy for our DD. The basis for that was good resale and also it is super easy to convert to a 2 baby ( we knew we wanted two close together- DD will be 15 months when baby arrives. )
Therefore we just had to buy adaptors and we are sorted now.
I love it- so light to push , easy to put up and down and has lasted v v well so far. ( had it 13 months now and used every day)

I can see how it looks heavy but I find it great and light. All depends on personal preference though- suppose it's like buying a car!
No idea on other makes as everyone I know has one too.

TinyTear · 06/02/2015 20:57

I'll just say Uppababy, Uppababy, Uppababy
Grin

Can't wait to use my Vista again... I loved having a huuuge basket underneath

daholster · 06/02/2015 21:29

Havent cuaght up but need to gt my head down for an hour before I go back to work... yawn... I am so tired, of course today dd decided to get up at 05.40! I was in work at 07.10. Gome at 18.10. Got to be at work again at 23.30 and will crawl home at 07.30...

Quick sleep methinks, worried I won't wake up in time though! Any sweets suggestions to keep me awake through the night? I'm thinking a chocolate option (maybe Maltesers or Minstrels?) and a gummy option (erm, Jelly Babies is as far as I have got there...)

I will be checking for suggestions...!

30+3

daholster · 06/02/2015 21:30

OMG look at all those typos. Haven't caught up... Home not gome... Good grief, quick, sleep!

FiRaffe · 06/02/2015 21:30

Boo - she called it laid back breastfeeding like. You put your hands under their feet so they can push up against them (and you're gently helping them up). It sounded really good and natural, but would love to hear if anyone had actually tried it (rather than just some researchers )!

smogsville · 06/02/2015 21:34

Daholster - I'd go for maltesers and haribo tangfastics.
