New (and probably) final thread for those of us due in March (with a few lovely February ladies who didn't want to leave).

m27 i think the main reason they dont offer induction usually after a woman has had c section is because the forced contractions can cause a rupture. thats why i opted to wait it out and have a elective c section instead of induction and my consultant was very relieved when i came to that decision after reading all the information

Update - at 39+5 was finally booked into a hospital outside of London (so even in an emergency I can't end up in my local). This hospital has been fab and keep babies with the possibility of NAS (withdrawal) from maternal medication on the post natal ward until signs are observed and then if they are very ill they are transferred to the neonatal unit. I would be able to stay in a room right off the unit if that happened and me and my little one would not be split up. I'd also be encouraged to be the main carer even in neonatal unit (unlike the previous hospital), with the staff simply doing the medical bits I can't do but nappy changes etc would be my field.

The hospital I've transferred to have bent over backwards to help me, even down to making an exception to policy so I can have a partner (mum or dh) stay over night each night with me so that way I have people around me who know my mental health symptoms and can act fast. They are involving me in decisions surrounding the care of my baby, not telling me they have made a decision, and are hoping to let me use the birthing pool on the labour ward if things run smoothly. I can even take my aromatherapy humidifier in for labour!

Thank you for your support - it's been a difficult and hugely upsetting time but worth it to get the care and support that allows me and little one to stay together.

PCB - I'm sorry to hear that. Definitely have a moan, it's so upsetting when things don't go how you'd like.

M27 - hope all is ok, has there been any progress? If not really best of luck with Saturday.

Fish - glad you're home!

smokeandglitter · 20/03/2015 08:11

Now baby just needs to make an appearance Grin

M27J5M · 20/03/2015 10:32

Ah I see lol im really not clued up when it comes to c-sections so this is all a learning curve to me Smile

No progress smoke but only another dayto go, in a sense I'm happy there's no progress cos it means I get to have a day with my boy tomor before he becomes a big brother plus if they have to start me then I'm defo at hosp in time to receive anti-b's for GBS so that any shouldn't have to get them after delivery

theonewiththenoisychild · 20/03/2015 10:33

glad things are going well now smoke must be a relief to finally have it all sorted. and good for you for standing up for youself. im a wimp so probably would have gone along with it and been misserable

coastergirl · 20/03/2015 14:42

Smoke it's fantastic to hear that the new hospital are working with you and giving you care tailored to your needs. That's what mine were like and they also agreed to my husband being able to stay overnight with me. It made a huge difference to me and the care we received when he was born was incredible.

ThisWayNow · 20/03/2015 15:57

I'm excited as I've been getting period like pains in the early morning which then went away. So we DTD to help speed things along and now my period like pains are coming back Smile I guess I want the baby to come now then. EDD is 30th but I'm a little spooked about advice of not going over for older mothers so really hoping she's a little early.
also feeling very different emotionally today (peaceful) so hormones are definitely changing.

Blue03 · 20/03/2015 18:30

This way I hope you're right. Good luck!

I lost my plug this morning. Didn't have that with DS so I can only assume it came away whilst labouring with him. So I'm naturally clinging onto this as a sign that DD will be arriving soon. Those of you who went into labour naturally, at which point did you lose your plug?

I was convinced I had a contraction whilst brushing my teeth last night so forced DH to go get my ball from downstairs. Turned out to be nothing. Fed. Up.

m33r · 21/03/2015 07:22

blue my plug came away during early stages of labour

m33r · 21/03/2015 07:23

thisway period like pains increasing in frequency told me my LO was on his way ...

m33r · 21/03/2015 07:26

smoke am totally thrilled everything is sorted for you! Good for you for being strong!

m33r · 21/03/2015 07:28

fish!glad you're home - the post natal ward drove me NUTS!!

smokeandglitter · 21/03/2015 10:07

Thank you, everyone! Smile

That makes a lot of sense m27. Hope all is going swimmingly!

TMI - Had blood in discharge this morning, not huge amounts but very pleased that there is some sort of sign. Had been a bit down because consultant yesterday told me I was ages away and predicted I'd go very overdue. Had crampy pains on and off, nothing major yet but just a nice sort of encouragement from my body saying, 'don't stress, we know the date, we're getting ready - give us time'. Due date is today!

nothinglikeithought · 21/03/2015 10:56

My beautiful baby girl arrived Thursday morning after a pretty speedy delivery. We were planning on a homebirth anyway but in the end, she decided to pop out before waiting for the birth pool to be filled up, towels to be put down or even for the midwife to arrive. DP delivered her following advice from a 999 operator! Quite the dramatic entrance! We are all doing really well and she's pretty chilled out considering... x

smokeandglitter · 21/03/2015 11:45

Wow, I'm so glad you're all ok nothinglikeithought! Huge congratulations to you both, well done to you and well done to your DP too!

nothinglikeithought · 21/03/2015 14:46

Thanks smoke! So pleased for you too that you have eventually found an accommodating hospital- it must be such a relief!

ThisWayNow · 21/03/2015 15:54

congratulations Nothinglike, what an exciting story you will be able to relate to your LO when she's older Smile
how did your DH find it? did you have to go to maternity ward at all afterwards?

theonewiththenoisychild · 21/03/2015 17:04

congratulations nothinglike Thanks

Fondue42 · 21/03/2015 18:01

Congratulations nothing, and well done to you and your DP on a successful delivery at home! What a great story to tell!

M1985V · 21/03/2015 19:12

facebook removed me from loads of pages & groups - apparently due to inactivity! I wasn't inactive but it kicked me out of the fb group :(

Hope everyone is doing ok with new babies or whilst waiting for babies to arrive. I am now 4 days overdue!!

theonewiththenoisychild · 21/03/2015 19:49

Hi ladies. Well i have had a lovely day with the dc's today. Oh has had to practice doing a ponytail today for dd for school haha. and ive had to show him how to work the washing machine so he can wash dc's uniforms for school while im in hospital Grin

Rainbow555 · 22/03/2015 06:40

M1985v who were u are Facebook? Someone left and we were worried!!

Sorry been out of touch again with u all again !! I am useless!

Anyway DS arrived. Friday 13th March after a speedy 5 hours. Weighed 7 lb and was doing well. We were induced early as cord was compromised and he had started to loose weight but when we got to the hospital he was already on his way as I was 2cm dilated already!! It has been a good week, lots of emotions and shock at his early arrival and the magnitude of everything but I think we are getting there! Will try to catch up on the thread news during night feeds tonight!

Hope all is good with everyone!

Rainbow555 · 22/03/2015 06:43

Oh and here he is!

March 2015 - the babies are starting to arrive as we waddle towards the finish line with maternity leave countdowns and TMI all around!
fishfingerSarnies · 22/03/2015 07:34

Oh congratulations rainbow, how delicious.
So many babies now those waiting must be champing at the bit, won't be long.
my lo has been struggling to settle in his basket at night so my mum took him in to the living room for a cuddle for an.hour or two so I could get some sleep and we all fell asleep for 6 hours! Why won't he do that in his bed lol.
He just wants to suckle I'm debating a dummy bit worried as he's only 5 days old and breastfed don't want the dreaded nipple confusion! His latch is good though mostly (bit dodgy on the right) and has fed well from day one. My dd would never take a dummy but she wasn't s sucker unless hungry. What would others do? Never been a big fan of dummys but I think for emergency night time sucking I could be up for it as the night before he suckled for 4 hours every ten min, suck suck sleep.
My supply is fine so not worried about that just nipple confusion?

theonewiththenoisychild · 22/03/2015 10:57

congratulations rainbow Thanks
