Thing is treacle being a SAHM I have no time to relax at all. Constantly running round after dd, one thing after another. I hope you are feeling better soon and are de stressing x

alien11 · 01/02/2015 09:45

Duckbilled- are you in my life?? seriously that is my morning too! Dh rolled into bed @3 and is still in bed ?? and I'm running round tidying the house, cooking brekkie, sorting dd etc.

duckbilled · 01/02/2015 10:52

Haha alien I am living in your loft....Shock
Seriously though I feel your pain, and annoyance! He is up now moaning about feeling ill...... Angry

Chuch21 · 01/02/2015 10:55

cornberry and banter thank you! I decided to tell her, other friends were there so it was done in a subtle 'come with me to get drinks' way. She also had a mc last year around the same time I am now but was explaining how she felt so it's put my mind at rest - she also resents my lack of ms! It is lovely having someone to talk to properly now though!

Thankfully I'm having a lazy morning in bed... Have a website to create this afternoon though Sad

alien11 · 01/02/2015 11:43

Glad it went well telling for friend Church.
My dh is having a very long leisurely walk with the dog. I've just sat down to sort some house admin and Sod's law the company I have been meaning to call for weeks telephone centre is shut on Sundays so back to square one!

So so tired and pains not helping me. Not looking forward to cooking the roast later!

itssangriaoclock · 01/02/2015 12:04

Church, did does feel good once you start to let family and close friends in on your amazing secret.

I'm really struggling with clothes and trying to hide a second pregnancy. It was much easier the first time.

Any suggestions greatly received and what to wear to hide my abnormally large stomach. Clothes fit, but there is a definite bulge. I'm only 8wks grr

Mummyboo30 · 01/02/2015 12:28

sangria I find loose fitting tunic type tops and/or drapey scarves can help disguise the tummy. Mine has definitely made an early appearance, I'm only 9+3!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 01/02/2015 12:37

I think mine will be making an obvious appearance soon - I'm so hungry today!

Chuch21 · 01/02/2015 12:42

sangria it's definitely good having a friend in on the secret! My immediate family know, but there's a different relationship with a friend I think - sometimes you can be more honest about not feeling all warm and fuzzy inside without feeling guilty!

I'd love to think I too was getting a pregnancy belly, but unfortunately I think it's mainly carbs Blush

sauvblanc21 · 01/02/2015 12:43

Went for dinner with friends last night and played the "I'm on antibiotics" card but luckily had Googled the name of anti-bees that make you vomit if mixed with alcohol :) One friend is a nurse and confirmed I couldn't drink! Hurrah! I'm sure they're all suspicious tho ;)
Worst thing - hubbo woke up after lots of red wine feeling fine and I woke up after a lots of lemonade feeling hungover!!! Headache and bit sickly! Snot fair! Xxx

ljjeffro · 01/02/2015 13:14

I had to let an old work friend who im good friends in on my secret last Saturday. I was on a night out with friends and even though I said wasnt drinking cos I was skint I some how got into a round with two other people each of us buying a bottle of wine, cos I panicked about saying no! I had to tell her so that I could keep going over to her and her friends (who were coincidentally in the same bar) and swapping my full glass of wine for her empty one! Inbetween that and chucking wine down the toilet I managed to get away without drinking more than 2 mouthfuls! My friend on the other hand was smashed! Last night was a lot less stressful, sat on the couch with dh and a 0% fosters raddlers.

alien11 · 01/02/2015 13:22

Ooo savblanc what's the name of tej antibiotics? I need to use that for this afternoon when my friend comes round with wine! It's going to be to torture

sauvblanc21 · 01/02/2015 13:29

alien it's metronidazole - for mouth infections or (cough) vaginal infections!! Naturally I opted for the former (!) and said I was having trouble with my wisdom teeth (as I have in the past!). Worked a treat - I hope! Xx

itssangriaoclock · 01/02/2015 14:04

Good work sauvblanc. I need a similar rouse for the 13th, although this is the day I plan on telling my friends. I want to tell them altogether at the restaurant. The problem is they are meeting at my house first before going. They will want to get a taxis where as I can drive.

Ideas please, abx won't wash with my friends. Esp as they already suspect.

Want to tell them altogether???

DefinitelyNotElsa · 01/02/2015 14:06

I'm going to tell my friends I'm not drinking on an upcoming night out as I'm doing a car boot sale early the next morning. Don't know if they'll believe it, but I know the old antibiotics excuse won't get me anywhere!

itssangriaoclock · 01/02/2015 14:40

Shame it's not still dry January

misssmilla1 · 01/02/2015 14:48

Oh my days - the indigestion! Went out last night to the cinema where they do food and had a cheese toastie and fries and spent about 3 hours burping away - got so bad, I had to get the OH to burp me like a small child Blush
Not really having nausea, but when I feel sick it's trapped gas, v glamourous. Now busy trying to find out what's triggering it; so far greasy food is the main one. Also gone off sweet things / chocolate which is massively unlike me, and the thought of eating some foods is turning my stomach (apples, most vegetables)

Having looked through the last week it appears my appetite is regressing to that of me as a picky 7 year old where I refused to eat anything remotely decent. Seems like it might be a lot of 'nursery tea's from here on in - i.e., sausage chips and beans, jacket potato and cheese etc.

I'll be like a beached whale, bump or no bump Smile

alien11 · 01/02/2015 14:56

Itssangria- I had the same thing last week and I just said it's easier for me to drive as saved pennies and I really didn't fancy having to get up early with dd with a raging hangover!

I have finally got to sit down before our friends arrive. Am so so so so tired. Is it rude to want bedtime already?! Cooking a roast dinner for 6 is not appealing right now haha.

Whatabout · 01/02/2015 17:07

Had my booking in appointment. I'm down as consultant led for my spinal issues. I've been told to go back on antidepressants. I'll be under mental health midwifes not the usual and all my appointments will be at home. I'm to have an assessment for my PND, pregnancy anxiety and stress.

Feels surreal and way too early to talk as though I will have a bsby. 8+1 today.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 01/02/2015 19:54

Sangria your best bet is to come up with an excuse why you can't meet at your house. Invasion of inlaws, DH dying with the cold etc then you meet them at restaurant, no need to mention you're driving and set the preggo claxon off.

Any mention of antibiotics and I automatically assume a woman's pregnant Grin. I truly think now it's better just to not mention the not drinking and either stay out of rounds as you're 'skint' or get an ally like jeffro

mrsdos · 01/02/2015 19:57

Reading everyones comments about turning down an alcoholic drinks around suspicious friends makes me feel so lucky! Our friends don't really bat an eyelid when I don't go for an alcoholic drink (they are mainly blokes!) I think it's more noticable at work as I keep producing tea bags from my desk rather than the normal ones from the kitchen!

Kittykitty05 · 01/02/2015 20:15

I've been fairly lucky on the alcohol front (or not depending on how you look at it!) in that doctors banned me from alcohol about a year ago due to heart issues. I sometimes ignore it and have one glass but people aren't now overly surprised by me not drinking!

townsender · 01/02/2015 20:17

Hello folks, I've been lurking for the last week, but thought I'd jump in tonight and say hello!
I'm 34 and my EDD is 26th September. 6+1 today.

I'm also struggling with the not-drinking-giving-it-away issue. I didn't go to the pub last night, with DH and his friends, as I thought it would be too obvious...then forgot I could have used dry January as an excuse, doh!

sangria, if your share of the taxi isn't too expensive, you could just get the taxi anyway? Saves driving home when you're sleepy after a big dinner out. I'd agree with tea on the antibiotics excuse - I've reached the age where that excuse will not wash and I can't be bothered to lie.

I also have the non-drinking issue with my work colleagues. I go for quite a few lunches/dinners as part of my job (tough life I know), and usually have at least a glass. Last week I tried nursing a glass of wine and pretending to take sips - worked ok the first time but the second time everyone else finished their glasses, leaving mine on the table at the end, obviously still quite full. But hey, if they guess, so what, they're not exactly going to ask me outright.

shinjuku09 · 01/02/2015 20:20

Have had to put Mil on standby to come to visit us to look after DD this week. Been in bed nearly all weekend with terrible nausea and feeling weak beyond belief. Hoping against hope that it's related to the awful cough I've got, which is making me almost puke every time I cough and my chest burn with pain. Felt terrible with other two pregnancies but nothing like this. Still not been sick but constantly on verge of it. Even moving my head makes me feel dizzy and sick.
Anyone else feeling this bad who has young Dc and no family nearby?

thecrab · 01/02/2015 20:27

love reading all these creative ways to get out of drinking, I'm always the driver when we go out so I've no problems on that front =P
