So sorry brickieSadFlowers

I had such a realistic dream about having an mmc... Was such a relief to wake up; I'm hoping it wasn't a premonition as I got to the scan via gondola and in the scan picture the baby was there but in 2 halves... Weird!

Just feeling mega tired today... The 2 days before this have been awful, had 2 uni assignments due in. Side note: all nighters and pregnancy are not a good match!

elio · 29/01/2015 10:43

So sorry to hear the sad news.
I am definitely not having an early scan, there is a reason that the NHS normally only funds one at 12 weeks, because after this point you have a better idea of whether things will work out or not. I can imagine an early scan could make you super happy, but I would feel like then I would have more to loose until I got to 12 weeks. I can't imagine how upsetting this is for people to have mmc, it seems so mean. I didn't know that it was even possible until getting pregnant. I am finding it hard to feel excited or attached to the little embryo, as it may or may not make it. I've been panicking that I won't love the baby, but I think once I have the scan it will be OK as this detachment is my way of coping in case of bad news. Fingers crossed for everyone. Week seven feels better than six so far, i hope it is just my body aclimatzing and not bad news. Anyone that doesn't feel rough yet, get outside and run around while you still can!! It's snowing here and I managed to eat breakfast, so I might try going for a run.

Lauramum23 · 29/01/2015 11:05

I have never heard of a mmc since coming on here kind of wish I still didn't know tbh, I've had 3 pregnancys all fine, it's making me a bit nervous actually! Oh well there's nothing I can do if it happens then I suppose it's because the baby wasn't developing properly. I'll just have to try and get on with things till 12 weeks and hope everything is ok.
I went for a walk this morning an hours walk bloody freezing when I got back my thighs were like ice! I'm wrapped up in a blanket now!
Yoga tomorrow then I'm gonna get my arse in gear and go to aquafit twice next week! Smile
Must think positive ladies x

Hugs brickie Flowers Sad

Pigriver · 29/01/2015 11:28

For all of those still feeling ill, it does get better!
I felt sick for every minute of every day for 3 weeks solid. I am now 8 weeks and although I have a stinking cold I feel loads better! Apparently the placenta kicks in around 8 weeks and your hormones stabilize a bit.

Booking in appt tomorrow.

NatalieBee · 29/01/2015 11:46

Pigriver I was just away to say that Smile I'm 9+2 and although the symptoms are still there they have eased loads the last few days! I would be worrying if I hadn't had seen it wriggling on the screen the other day Grin thankgod for the placenta kicking in eh? Wink

NatalieBee · 29/01/2015 11:48

Oh brickie, I am so sorry. Lots of hugsThanksBrew

DoctorDonnaNoble · 29/01/2015 11:50

Treaclepie19 · 29/01/2015 12:28

I am so sorry brickie, thinking of you.
Look after yourself xxx

DeladionInch · 29/01/2015 12:32

I've felt better this week although only 7+3. But am 8+3 if I go from conception date rather than LMP I think which ties in. Scan is at 12+0 by LMP so I'll be interested to see what that says. Can't afford a private one and I'm not sure it would help me - there's not a lot I can do to affect things either way (I eat healthily, don't smoke, don't drink much etc) so will just be accepting what the universe throws at me lol

alien11 · 29/01/2015 12:49

ellio I feel the same. Trying to eat healthy but not doing as well as I did with dd! I feel so normal that's the scary thing I had mild nausea with dd but really bad heartburn further on in the pregnancy.

duckbilled · 29/01/2015 12:58

Sorry Brickie, thinking of you Flowers

mspfan · 29/01/2015 13:04

Sorry to hear your sad news brickie

eallison I hope you've made it to the hospital by now and that your scan went well.

shinjuku09 · 29/01/2015 13:52

So so sorry Brickie. Re scans, I think everyone is different and for me it's less reassurance and more wanting to know asap if things have gone wrong. I know there's still a chance they'll go wrong after eight weeks but it's far far reduced after you've seen the heartbeat. Some women are scanned as early as ten weeks I think, it's just twelve is the average.

ShootTheMoon · 29/01/2015 13:57

Hi all. I'm 6+2 (probably actually a couple of days further on) and having, since last night, some quite sharp stabby pains low in my belly. Not round ligament pain, not like indigestion/gas but not completely out of the question. Worse than the crampy pains I had for the first few weeks. No bleeding or spotting of any kind though.

Anyone else had this? I am supposed to go training tonight - I have missed a lot due to being so knackered, but I really ought to go. And in fact having a run around may help by working out a few kinks! But I am worried that it is a silly thing to do if I'm having pains. Gah. I don't know. Any thoughts?

Whatabout · 29/01/2015 14:08

I'm having all sorts of pains, trying to reassure myself that all pains are normal unless they double you over and accompanied by bleeding.

Dug out my Doppler I bought last pregnancy and heard a good strong heartbeat at about 130bpm. I've done some ultrasound in the past so know what I'm doing. Reassured me a little!

Mummyboo30 · 29/01/2015 14:38

Whatabout that must have been reassuring. I've been tempted to get hold of one, for occasional use, not every day, but I'm concerned I'll make myself more stressed! Hmmstill tempting though, and it would be nice to hear a heartbeat!

eallison88 · 29/01/2015 14:39

Made it to hospital eventually (only 2 hours late!) I'd convinced myself it was probably too early for heartbeat (bang on 6 weeks today) but there was a heartbeat! Everything where it should be, no problems or cysts or anything to suggest any problems. So one relieved mummy/daddy to be here! Now back at work and need to work out what to tell the head when I see him at 3.15!

Whatabout · 29/01/2015 14:49

Mummyboo30 I have found mine quite reassuring and hasn't added to my stress. I was quite amazed to hear it, you do have to know what you are listening to as you can pick up the placenta or your own hb.

Eallison great news :-) I'm being very naughty and not fessing till post 12 weeks. I work with ionising radiation so am supposed to tell but I'm not at risk and last time I was just given a lecture.

alien11 · 29/01/2015 15:03

eallison great news!

alien11 · 29/01/2015 15:08

I'm tempted for early scan before we go on holiday but keep changing my mind! I went skiing 8 weeks pregnant last time and that was to canada . This time it's just Europe. Still no symptoms really Hmm
shoot I would think they were ligament pains . what's your edd ? I think I must be nearly the same as you.wow whatabout that's great! Very reassuring. I wouldn't have a clue haha

ShootTheMoon · 29/01/2015 15:15

eallison88 oh, that's great! Glad you made it and it was good news.

alien, I've lost track of my EDD, something like 24th Sept based on LMP, more like 21st based on my guess about ov date. I know I was put forward 5 days with DD which I presumed was because of short cycles/early ov. I'm sure I put something sensible like the 22nd in my app!

Pain is actually slightly worse now. I can't take anything for the horrendous heartburn I'm having because of the ABs I've been given, so it could easily be that. In any case, I will try to assume that all is well, unless I get signs of bleeding.

SpamAnderson · 29/01/2015 15:26

whatabout which Doppler do you have?i bought oneof those awful ones with dd1 and never heard a peep from it :/ might invest in adecent one this time, might give a bit of reassurance until I feel movements :)

ShootTheMoon · 29/01/2015 15:34

spam, it's your choice of course but I keep hearing that MWs and doctors hate these at home dopplers with a passion - because they can cause stress when people can't find a heartbeat, but it's just user error, and more worryingly, because people are falsely reassured by finding a heartbeat (or make a mistake and aren't actually hearing a heartbeat) and don't get help when they need it.

a bit different for whatabout as she's had ultrasound training, but I am staying away from home dopplers as I think a little knowledge can sometimes be a bad thing in this instance. Off my soapbox now though Smile
