Hello everyone! Sorry to hear there have been injuries and scares but glad everything seems to have settled now.

Am at preschool gymnastics with dd and checking out all the baby groups advertised. Getting excited!

Crappy thrush is back again though . Anyone else been suffering with this? The pessaries seem to work but only very temporarily.

Chookford · 04/02/2015 11:14

Morning ladies

ginger its never too early I have 8 weeks left at work and am counting down each day!

kitty sorry to hear about your piles I think I may be about to get them too will mention to midwife on Friday.. this pregnancy lark is fabulous isnt it! I never had any of this with dd Confused

longest I sent a urine sample to my docs thinking i had the start of thrush but they didnt test for it for some unknown reason but it did show i have a UTI (no symptoms what so ever!) so I have been on anti biotics for that but keep having occasions of thinking I do have thrush I was told to just use the cream and pessaries but not sure they are doing much to be honest!

gingerfluffball · 04/02/2015 12:08

Just had my first braxton hicks I think... quite uncomfortable! Painful at the top of my bump and then spreading down with it all going tight and hard. Aren't they supposed to be painless? Had two quite close together so started to worry but nothing since, phew.

Anyone else getting these? How often is normal? I'm 27 weeks at the moment, any non-FTMs know if this is something to expect more frequently now?

applecore0317 · 04/02/2015 12:11

Chook antibitoics are a sh*t for bringinf on thrush, so might be that. Everytime I have beenmon a course of them have had to buy treatment just in case

leanne963 · 04/02/2015 12:19

ginger I am a FTM and i think i had some last night, had quite a busy day and was carrying heavy camera equipment so i think my body was a bit annoyed at me. But as i have neer had them before i am unsure!?

Feeling really poo today, seem to be waking up every night at like 3ish and even though i am really tired i can not for the life of me get back to sleep. Today i feel really snotty and was in Tesco earlier and felt really hot all of a sudden and felt like i had to sit down :(

Chookford · 04/02/2015 12:32

apple yeah I did think that, I have stocked up on the cream and see how I go.. I finish my course of antibiotics today so hopefully that will ease things a bit!

leanne I am the same waking up every night at 2.30am and having a good 45/60 mins awake! I am so tired in the mornings! sucks doesnt it! hope you feel better soon!

leanne963 · 04/02/2015 12:53

Thanks Chook I have always suffered from insomnia so i think when the baby is here i will manage 'ok' with the sleeplessness, but at the moment the weight of the bump and just the hormones and achey hips just make it so much harder. Then i get upset cause i look in the mirror and look like poo, vain i know lol!

longestlurkerever · 04/02/2015 12:54

They sound like bh. They can be quite uncomfortable.

Got a couple of hours to myself. Clawing back some time from work after some late nights. Am in a cafe and about to go and get my hair cut. Bliss!

Sorry you feel rubbish leanne. Get well soon.

leanne963 · 04/02/2015 12:58

Thank you longest :)

Threesoundslikealot · 04/02/2015 13:35

Yes, get well soon all the poorly posters.

Can I repeat my recommendation for tubigrip for all those suffering with sore hips and pelvises? I was given it by the hospital physio in my second pregnancy when I began to show signs of PGP (after having it really badly the first time round) and it was brilliant - far easier and more comfortable than a support belt, and cheaper too. I have a length that, doubled over, goes from my rib cage to the top of my thighs. It gives loads of support and isn't fiddly when you have to go to the loo etc, unlike the support belts. I forgot to put mine on this morning and can massively feel the difference in my pelvis.

plinkyplonks · 04/02/2015 13:37

leanne963 - Same thing happens to me! I'm looking (and feeling!) like the walking dead! Most mornings I am up from 3am - 6am, if I'm lucky - I'll go back to sleep for 2 hours before waking up again. Currently getting 4-6 hours sleep, with some days getting 9 hours of solid out for count sleep which restores my sanity :) All good practice for once the baby is here I'm sure!!

Snooky17 · 04/02/2015 13:56

Three the tubigrip sounds great, my hips have started hurting and now my bloody knee grr but not been able to find it to buy online, guess gonna have to see gp for a physio referral

Threesoundslikealot · 04/02/2015 14:24

Try googling 'torso tubigrip'. Definitely see a physio if you can, although try to get a women's health one as general ones are far less useful, but you'll probably be waiting a few weeks so if you can get hold of something yourself, worth doing. You could also try a support belt but they're more of a faff in my personal experience.

plinkyplonks · 04/02/2015 14:33

Any idea on what size Tubigrip to get - looks to be graded A, B etc - tried googling, just want to be confident I'm getting the right size!

Snooky17 · 04/02/2015 15:12

Thanks for torso tip three, plinky looks like j- small torso, k- med torso and L large torso

leanne963 · 04/02/2015 15:46

Plinky 9 hours? i am jealous haha my bladder is well and truly stuffed after about 3 hours haha

kittiker · 04/02/2015 17:25

Thanks for everyone's kind comments - am feeling much better today but still a bit stiff and knackered. Felt like today was pretty unproductive at work but oh well. Hope everyone else is feeling good / better.

KittyVonCatsington · 04/02/2015 18:31

longest - yep still have thrush and just been using cream. Might try the pessary but MW said it is possible it won't go away till I give birth!

Chookford funny you should mention UTI-my sample today showed up a possible infection and will be sent off but MW said it was probably contaminated by the Canestan cream and not to worry.

ginger I'm an FTM and I think I had two episodes of Braxton Hicks over the weekend and was just 27 weeks then. Was like my stomach tightening in one big painful knot and made me stop what I was doing but as soon as passed, felt completely normal again. Happened in the morning and evening of Saturday. MW said it was a sign that the uterus was preparing for labour and can start around now. Should be sporadic in timings and have no pattern.

Hope everyone gets a better nights sleep tonight!!

leanne963 · 04/02/2015 19:22

I am definite getting braxton hicks now!!!! I'm just sat on the sofa drinking tea and my stomach just went solid all over and felt tight. I couldn't poke or feel the baby, the a couple seconds later my belly felt all squidgy again! Didn't hurt just felt tight like I had just done 20 sit ups lol!

SmileyScooby · 04/02/2015 19:37

Glad you ok kittiker

Three thanks for tubigrip tip. Will bear it in mind!

Yesterday evening and this evening when I've got up from laying on sofa my calf muscles are really tight (almost cramp like). Any tips?

Chookford · 04/02/2015 20:43

smiley I've been getting calf cramps too one occasion they woke me up at about 1am I was in agony! A nice warm bath and a good massage from dh helps me! Touch wood it hasn't happened for the last few days so am hoping it's gone away now!

kitty yeah I have no normal symptoms of a UTI but have one all the same! Am seeing midwife Friday so will mention the thrush/UTI combo I think

Snooky17 · 04/02/2015 21:48

Do recall reading that uti without symptons are common in pregnancy, cramps banana at bedtime is suppose to help also something about tonic water helping, my brain only appears to be half working tho sorry

Titsalinabumsquash · 04/02/2015 21:53

Tonic water helps because it has Quinine in it and bananas are a good source of potassium, both good for cramps. I have suffered with savage leg cramps as a child so I have some experience Wink although I'm no medic so don't quote me!
