We lease as well. Started about 3 ish years ago and just got our 3rd car last summer. Find it much easier and better - we have one of the Ford Focus 1.0L ecoboosts. It's only £30 a year tax, though the first year is free, you generally only pay your first service (pending mileage), which is about £130-180 depending on where you live, and at that age, you know there won't be anything wrong with it... with our previous cars we traded it in just before the year service was due so that way we didn't have to pay for that either, but this year where we've moved we've majorly gone over our mileage so had to do it after 6m this time (eek!) and we get about 50-70mpg pending traffic... So works out sooo much cheaper than our old Lexus did! :O Also means come the time when baby arrives, if we find we need a bigger car, we only have to pop into the local branch and change it (albeit a new 2yr lease, but it's that easy)

SophieBarringtonWard · 26/01/2015 15:15

I dunno, I feel twitchy about leasing for some reason. I think I associate it with hire-purchase/the never never! How much do you pay a month?

Number3cometome · 26/01/2015 15:17

Mine is £160, it's an 11' plate Vauxhall Insignia.

misseskimo · 26/01/2015 15:42

Mines £215, for a 64' plate (Ford Focus) but that's the top spec one with all of the options that were available to us at the time (I like the heated seats and electric mirrors, which are only available with certain packs)

Number3cometome · 26/01/2015 15:42

Heated seats, i'd never move from the car!

broodylicious · 26/01/2015 16:57

Lol number! I had them in my Mini and it was a fabulous extra that I'd never have chosen myself (it came as standard because the car was a special/limited edition) but actually loved it. Partic useful in that car because it was full leather seat so felt freezing in the early mornings!

gluenotsoup · 26/01/2015 17:01

Hi all , I found you ! I can't believe how quickly the thread has moved on, I will try to post then catch up properly.

Names - I love name conversations and just take other people's comments with a pinch of salt. We're not planning on finding out what the sex is, so we will have to start thinking of both girl and boy names. I love it when people of older generations come up with random suggestions that were popular years ago but are not heard of now, outside of people of a certain age. I remember the names Craig and Timothy being suggested last time, no offence intended to anyone, but it makes me chuckle to think of a little baby with those names today. I would expect to peep into the cot and be transported back to the 1970s...Grin

I cant remember who asked about the bugaboo, but we have an older one too. I like it, and will be using it again as we can't justify a new one. I think it's great as a stroller and a carrycot, is easy to steer and clean, and like that you can face either way. The drawbacks are it can be a bit faffy to put up and down, as it's in two parts and can take up loads of boot space. Also, I think I will try to get a liner for the carrycot part to make it more snuggly. We will need an new umbrella fold though, so will have to look into those too.

Cars - we have a Honda crv, which is great. I hope I can get three seats in the back, we have on days out with dd 1 and her friend, but it's a bit tight. I hope I can get them in still with the easy fix base, but nit tried it yet. If not, it will cheaper to change the car seats t
han the car, so will wait and see.

16 plus one ! I read somewhere that the baby grows very quickly over the next few weeks, so hopefully that's why I am so tired and hungry. I thought I would have been feeling more healthy and energetic again by now. Anyone else?

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 26/01/2015 17:20

glue I feel completely exhausted at the moment (16+6), makes sense if the baby is growing a lot. I think I overdid it a bit this weekend and have really struggled today.

misseskimo · 26/01/2015 17:33

Lol my DH doesn't use them, but I use the heated seats ALL the time, except during hot summers. Recently it's been a lifesaver for my back after a long day out or after shopping. I just roll the seat back a bit and turn the warmers up to full whack... Like carrying around a massive hot water bottle :D

Zampa · 26/01/2015 17:46

Glue I read that the baby doubles in size between weeks 13 and 16, so pretty exhausting work for our bodies.

SparklyPenguin · 26/01/2015 18:10

glue I've been really tired the last few weeks, far worse than in first trimester. Also my appetite's definitely increased as the nausea's faded, so I'm trying to be a bit more healthy with my meal choices!

SparklyPenguin · 26/01/2015 18:11

Sorry, I'm 15+2

broodylicious · 26/01/2015 18:20

Hello glueSmile Yes I noticed that last time around re older names. They're becoming quite popular at the moment though. One of the mums at my dd's dance class has a five month old called Doris! My mum said yesterday "I think if you have a girl, amber would be lovely". Ffs, it actually is one of our top girls' names!ConfusedBlush

Fleurchamp · 26/01/2015 18:24

Is that right zampa? I feel huge!! 15 weeks today.

I "came out" at work today. I feel a little bit down about it, I got lots of lovely comments but the bitchy contingent that I was worried about made loads of comments about my weight/bump Sad

One, the ring leader, marched into my office saying "oh I guessed last week as I thought you looked like you had put on weight - it's quite some bump you have there!" Now, there is no way she knew- she had me down to cover some of her work in August which is the hardest time to get cover, if she had any inkling she would have arranged temp cover.

I had other snide comments too about there being more than one, am I sure I am only 15 weeks.... Oh and helpful advice about not eating for two Hmm

I would say that I just being sensitive but my secretary even made a comment that she didn't think they were being very friendly.

I'll post a photo if I can work out how - need opinions!

TTCMrsF · 26/01/2015 18:24

Hello all,

Not posted in a while, had a busy last few weeks!!! Hope all are well and hello newbies, congrats to all expecting twins, good downs results, and lovely to hear sexing scan results! Here's all my recent dramas / activities...

Cars
Started new car shopping - looking not yet buying (boot size being the new thing to have - I even took a measuring tape!) then had a scary breakdown (tyre blow out) on A50 in morning rush hr, was sooooo not pulling up on non-existent hard shoulder (to endanger me, baby and the car!) so drove one tyre down for like a min or two to get to safety in some services! Dramas. Didn't damage wheel rim luckily, so only new tyre n alignment needed!

Baby stuff
Downs screen all good, 1 in 100,000. Have my 16week apt on Thursday (exciting), 20 week scan booked end of feb (seems ages away) hence Prob going to book sexing scan start of feb as I just can't wait! Planning trip to Baby show in feb with hubby n my mum. Hopefully will get to play with the Icandy I like the look of.

Still feeling perfectly fine and have a few minor wobbles every now and again worrying / thinking hope all is ok. I must remind myself I'm just v lucky. I too have been v hungry during this growth spurt of little bubba!

Belly is definitely getting chunkier but can't wait to "pop"and actually look pregnant!!! 4months on Thursday!

Work
Started telling work people and all v happy. Some said they've noticed my boobs growing (I haven't particularly!!!). Then also recently been told my job is at risk! Not of redundancy but pooling two posts to 1.6wte. Luckily worse case is a 0.6wte job which is actually what I'd want - but only after mat leave!!!! Out for "consultation"so wait and see what happens... Not stressing too much, what will be will be.

House stuff
Have just received our nursery furniture, bought from Mothercare using asda baby event to price match and using a cashback site. Mummy saving expert me! But we getting quotes on loft boarding / insulation/ new hatch&ladder (which access is in nursery room) so gotta get that done first before can set nursery up!

I'm known for my OCD organised and planning mind, having excel spreadsheets galore. So I know I'm doing things v early, but hopefully once all sorted my last few months of pregnancy will be relaxing (especially if that's when I struggle more)!!! Plus I just enjoy shopping!!!!!

Looking forward to more of your pearls of wisdom in this new thread!!!??

TouchPauseEngage · 26/01/2015 18:47

Evening all, for those a little way behind me o can confirm that weeks 15&16 hit me hard with exhaustion and dizziness. Low blood pressure was to blame for me I thibk. I'm also having lots of round ligament pain now especially when I sneeze!

For those coming out at work - I share your pain! I'm self employed but mainly work for one company. Wanted to keep it quiet till 20eeeks but I'm huge so told my boss today. He was really lovely but totally panicked about what they do without me! We agreed i'd finish in office at end of May but do the marketing side of things throughout June (until I pop!) and then do ad hoc stuff from home once baby arrives. My only concern is that I won't be able to claim MA if I work more than 10 days so need to figure out how it will work.
I thought it had gone quite well till he asked me if it was planned ShockShock I'm married And 30 so it can't have come as a shock!

Bustherb · 26/01/2015 18:53

Is anyone still waiting for their NT results? I haven't had mine yet and it's been 3 weeks now ShockShockShock xx

Fleurchamp · 26/01/2015 19:00

Oh yeah, I had that too - was it planned? I am 34 and have been married for years.

Meh. I am grumpy.

TouchPauseEngage · 26/01/2015 19:13

fleur it's so odd- I've had it three times. Why on earthb would you ask someone that! Mind you my grandad asked me who the father was. I Only got married in April but he seems to have forgotten!

broodylicious · 26/01/2015 19:16

Oh ladies. Sympathies on the snidey comments. Women can be such bitches, can't they? I put it down to jealousy. There's just no need! Why don't they just smile and/or hug then congratulate you? So glad I don't have colleagues or bosses to contend with!

Obsession with gravy continues today. Had a chicken pie, new potatoes and peas smothered in gravy for tea. I made it deliciously thick, it was almost like wallpaper paste! Cottage pie tomorrow excuse for more gravy

SophieBarringtonWard · 26/01/2015 19:39

Anyone else already playing 'what will I do with the baby in this situation'? Mondays are always busy days as we go straight from football to swimming, both kids fractious & tired, ended up with pretty constant tears until I could finally bundle them into bed. Now thinking how the eff will I cope when there is a newborn too?! Argh. I know it will work out though because I felt the same when expecting DC2...

I've been asked (by relatives) if this pregnancy was planned! (It was) Am 31, married, 2 kids already... Don't remember anyone asking about DC2 actually.

broodylicious · 26/01/2015 19:44

Yes sophie, every day. More at night as dd is an awful sleeper so is, more often than not, in with me or dh.

jmojo · 26/01/2015 20:01

Fleur you should just look at them give them a sarcastic smile and say "oh good for you" when they tell you they guessed. If they coment on your size, say "Oh well I know but I am pregnant" then cast a glance down at their body. Why are people so mean!

bustherb call the midwife to chase them 3 wks is too long!

16+1 had check today. Got bloods done for second part of Downs screening. Only have to wait 3 days for results so that is cool. Otherwise baby going nuts in there kicking away. Smile

Jenbird5891 · 26/01/2015 20:58

Fleurchamp-sorry to hear about your work people. It amazes me at times how rude/insensitive people can be! Not sure how well you know those making comments but I always think that perhaps there is some envy/insecurity on their part, otherwise why say things?! I work in a very small office with 4 other people, and I am naturally a private and quite reserved person so finding the whole pregnant at work thing a bit weird although no one has been rude like that really just nosey asking questions! I am dreading being really massive in the next few weeks and feeling like i'm public property! wish people could understand it's a big thing to go through especially the first time and u don't need to be made to feel self conscious! at the end of they day it's them that have the problem and we should take deep breaths and focus on the wonderful things that are happening :)

Fleurchamp · 26/01/2015 21:14

Thanks all, I have cheered up a little Smile

Jen I am quite private and am finding it hard, I don't like the attention.
I am one of the youngest in the office, the harridans are are in their 50s, I think they are just a bit jealous. I'm (usually) quite slim, so maybe they are just happy I will be fat Grin
