want yes you will get full child benefit. This is the crazy thing about the new way it is calculated. It's based on an individual earnings not combined. Dh and I both earn below the 50k cap but combined we are well over it but get full benefit. Our friends have a combined income less than us but because one of them earns over 50k they don't get the full amount.

Naturegirl82 · 31/01/2015 11:52

And I agree with bust you need to account for where you live when looking at salaries. We live in a relatively low income area so benefit from cheap housing etc but we are both professionals so are high earners here. We would not be considered that back home in London!!

WantToGoingTo · 31/01/2015 12:04

I am paid well compared to friends at similar stages in their careers in the south, and I earn more than my friend who is training to be a solicitor in London! Once I am fully qualified and have more experience I could earn a lot more, especially if I go into private sector (in nhs atm) but think that is a log way of due to bubba. We are v lucky though as we have lots of savings and investments so are in a much bette position financially than others on similar incomes as we have a small and short mortgage :)

JoY007 · 31/01/2015 13:19

Hello Ladies, this is definitely a day to be home in bed under a duvet watching TV. Hope you everyone is doing ok arepetite hope you feel better soon. My cold is gone thanks to hot water, lemon and honey, but the stuffy nose is still there Sad

Meanwhile new symptom, I get a real burn in my thighs when I am climbing stairs, burn similar to having ran for like 15 minutes or more none stop. I am quite fit, well I am still doing my morning spin but not with same intensity as pre pregnancy, but still. Anyone having same?

I booked the NHS ante natal classes in Ewell, quite late though it's in June, will be very heavy then Confused is that too late?

Aretepetite · 31/01/2015 13:23

Hope your feeling a bit better Purple Flowers I'm only being sick and that is bad enough.

Congrats on your boys Lewaney

I have zero energy and constant watering in my mouth ~ yuck ! DS2 has a play date arranged for 3pm today. :( typical !

Happy Saturday all.

Aretepetite · 31/01/2015 13:37

Thanks Joy here's hoping. I'm 18+4 and although had nausea earlier on, I thought it was past :( Hopefully this is just an episode !
I'm getting muscle tightening in my thighs too as I climb stairs, I think it's a combination of weight gain and our center of gravity moving ! Also my ante natal classes run into June so hope that it wont be too late. I think we will be ok then as long as we are feeling good. The weight is manageable :)

Lewaney3 · 31/01/2015 13:40

Afternoon all :)

Hope you feel better soon purplegiraffe
I'm off to babies r us and mothercare today with DM. I now feel much more excitement in shopping for babies then I do for myself.

Also my mom has been down this week and I now can not imagine letting her return home which is in Bham. I know I'm being irrational but I want her with me all the time.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday :)

pinkie1982 · 31/01/2015 14:28

I woke up under the weather too today. Headache and sore throat :(
Just had a bath and washed my hair. Cooking some pasta. Back in my pjs!

Stinkylinky · 31/01/2015 14:37

I'm feeling shocking too (17+4) never ever felt this tired, all my muscles and joints have appeared to seize up too!

I've been looking forward to going out tonight for my friends birthday all week and now I would like nothing more than to stick my pjs on and cuddle with my dog on the sofa all night!

Stinkylinky · 31/01/2015 14:40

Purple, I had norovirus when I was about 8 weeks pregnant, it was horrendous. All I could do was sip water and let it run it's course. Wishing you a speedy recovery Flowers

jmojo · 31/01/2015 14:46

purple a few of our doctors recommended coke or sprite to rehydrate as it is just as good as dyarolite and tastes better!! stir the bubbles out if it makes them easier to swallow for you. Get well!!!

WantToGoingTo · 31/01/2015 14:47

joy I am doing the nct antenatal classes and they start when I am 34 weeks mid-June but it suits me as they start just after I have starts mat leave :) the classes say for end of July to mid august babies and my due date is 25 July so think it normal for classes to start 34 weeks or even later

Done nothing all day other than change bed sheets put a wash on and traipse roun supermarket with DH but I am so knackered I have gone back to bed! I thought this tiredness was due to stop about now... Hmm

15+1

Threeplus1 · 31/01/2015 17:46

Hello ladies,

I hope you are feeling better giraffe
I too just spent the last 24hrs feeling queasy, stomach cramps and diahorrhea Sad it's horrible and has left me feeling so weak and washed out. I'm starting to feel a bit better now as toilet trips are back to usual.

17 weeks today and loving feeling baby kicking - dd1 even felt one yesterday Smile got my next midwife appointment on Tuesday and anomaly scan on 17th feb. I can't wait to find out if we are having a boy or girl Grin

JoY007 · 31/01/2015 18:08

purple hope you feel better, sending all the ladies feeling a bit under the weather kisses and hugs.

Congrats on the twin boys lewaney you are going to be a spoilt mama when they are olderWink

Ha! The pain makes sense now, very uncomfortable, now decided instead of powering up stairs like Rambo, I will take my time, one step at a time!

I was in mamas & papas today with DP checking out car seats, push chair n cribs.

Good start, we know what we want, going for the cybex car seat with the armadillo flip push chair. Though DP seems keen on the primo and maxi cosi because they are lighter. I am not bothered, I could do with the exercise Grin.

Kilicat · 31/01/2015 18:47

Sorry to hear there are several of us feeling ill - Purple, norovirus sounds dreadful - hope you make a quick recovery.

I've felt pretty decent all week but seem to have developed a dreadful cold over night so back feeling exhausted and have just been sick for the first time in 10 days (think that coughing triggered it). This is my second cold in January. Sadly I think the stress/long hours/pressure/germs from kids that come with working at a boarding school means that this will be a regular occurrence.

ohlordyplordy · 31/01/2015 18:57

For anyone after the maxi cosi cabrio fix is has £25 off (£110) in mothercare. Also the family fix has £15 off (£150) and easifix has £25 off (£100).
I'm planning to get the easifix during the week; we'll wait to get the base nearer due date though.

Thepurplegiraffe · 31/01/2015 19:08

Thanks for all the good wishes and advice, I am feeling absolutely awful and have barely moved all day. I have been sick 10 times and currently waiting for no11. I have tried the home made concoction and coke but nothing is working yet. Just can't keep anything down. DH was pretty awful yesterday though and is a lot better today so I am hoping it will be the same for me.
Arete sorry to hear you are feeling ill as well, hope everyone feels better soon.

Aretepetite · 31/01/2015 20:27

Thank you Purple I just hope I don't have norovirus after hearing how awful it is. It sounds really bad :( i'm still pretty sick & this alone has floored me.
Let DH look after you and fx your on the mend real soon Flowers
Hope all who are feeling ill get plenty of r&r. X

WantToGoingTo · 31/01/2015 20:45

Sending lots of hugs to everyone feeling ill. Fwiw, norovirus, although horrific, is meant to clear up after 2-3 days so fingers crossed that you all start to feel better soon. I think it just wipes you out from exhaustion etc afterwards. We had a bad breakout where I work (hospital) last year and loads of wards were closed, but luckily this year we have avoided it for the most part. The best way to stop it spreading is by washing hands with soap and water - alcohol gel and anticbac don't kill it so says our infection control head. It is passed from hand, to arse, to other surface/person's hand, to their/your mouth. (NICE). So hand washing all round :)

Thepurplegiraffe · 31/01/2015 20:48

Thanks Want, been doing that a lot. Desperate not to pass it onto dd. DH is washing everything we have used too.

ohlordyplordy · 31/01/2015 21:09

Yay, we have a cotbed :)
Another thing ticked off the list.

July 2015 - the thread in which bumps really start to appear...
MsRyanGosling · 01/02/2015 08:35

Not sure if this has already been posted but quite a few Mamas and Papas stores are closing down this month.

I went to Meadowhall yesterday and everything in the shop was 50% or less, closing 13th Feb.

They had racks and racks of clothes - mostly newborn. 3 packs of sleep suits £6.60 instead of £22. Cardigans £4 instead of £16.

Maternity clothes 50% off plus buy one get one free- including jeans. They had loads left yesterday. Tops seemed to be sized 6-14 left.

Lots of furniture in packs, cots, wardrobes, a few prams and buggies. A couple of car seats lots of wallpaper and cot bumper type sets.

Don't know if the stock is getting replenished or of once it's gone it's gone.

Hth!

smallgreenbanana · 01/02/2015 08:38

Had norovirus many years ago. Threw up every half an hour for 12 hours. The only thing I could manage was sucking ice cubes, as recommended by the NHS Direct nurse - really helped.

I was still infectious 2-3 days later though as I managed to give it to family members even after the throwing up stopped. Just a warning!

Zampa · 01/02/2015 08:57

Get well soon, people Flowers! If you're very poorly and at risk of dehydration, it's worth getting looked at by a doctor. A friend was given an additional scan due to some food poisoning to check the lo wasn't affected. (It was only cautionary and all was fine).

Picked up a bargain yesterday. Ex-display old style Uppababy Vista, from John Lewis, reduced from £630 to £375. Swore I wasn't buying anything until Easter but it seemed like a good buy considering they go for £300 second hand on eBay.

I met a couple of potential doulas yesterday and think I've found my birth partner! She was really interesting and has made me really relaxed about child birth. I'm actually looking forward to labour now.

WantToGoingTo · 01/02/2015 09:33

If you have noro though don't go to the GP! Call them an get them to come to you else you might spread it to the whole GP surgery Grin

Hope you all fell better soon Thanks
