OMG sarky fab news! Congrats. Fx for it being a sticky one.

Luckystar82 · 30/01/2015 18:22

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today. Found out I have very good levels of iron in blood, no problem with blood or urine. Midwife has started process of sorting out my records.

She tried 3 times to listen to baby's heartbeat but wasn't able to find it. DH was quite disappointed. DH bought me some flowers and treating me to curry tonight!

Good luck sarkymar hope your little bean is sticky!

smallgreenbanana · 30/01/2015 19:49

Fx sarky Smile

Got my quad results - very low risk of Down's and low risk of spina bifida - which is great news to end the week. No mention of other trisomies so assuming that is ok too.

CanIhavesomeginnowplease · 30/01/2015 20:10

Thank you fore the warm welcome! My name pretty much sums up how I feel most of the time... Grin

Lovely catching up with everyone's news especially Sarky!Smile

Does anyone in the South East know of any good places to try out prams/pushchairs? We want to do some test driving first before buying but really not sure where would have a decent selection. Any suggestions most welcome ladies

LaLa5 · 30/01/2015 22:05

Awwwwww that's great news sarky I'm so pleased for you!

I feel fat and horrendous today, I've put on 10lb since getting pg. hoping it'll plateau in 2nd trimester

Toast where in SE? I'm struggling as nearest places are either Croydon or Brighton and I'm in the middle

WiIdfire · 31/01/2015 05:45

Toastandmarmite - there were loads in Southampton, but I'm also keen to hear of other places as Im closer to Gatwick.

Fx for Sarky! Hoping for a sticky one.

Welcome to the newbies as well. This is a great antenatal club.

Naturegirl82 · 31/01/2015 07:26

Good luck this morning sarky

Bustherb · 31/01/2015 07:41

Great news sarky xxxx

TouchPauseEngage · 31/01/2015 07:49

Amazing news Sarky I'm so pleased for you.

Toastandmarmiteallday · 31/01/2015 08:06

Lata and Wild I'm in Horsham, well Southwater to be exact and had looked at travelling to Croydon but don't think there is the big Kiddicare anymore. Had thought about London but really not sure I fancy the commute and all the tourists! So now a bit stuck. May speak to hubby about Southampton as a possibility - what stores did they have there? Are they all in one place or spread out? Mothercare in Crawley has a few but not really much choice of different brands.

Awful night - hubby is sick again (man flu) and snored like a trooper so the cat and I were on the sofa from 1am although meant tea and crumpets as a little snack at 2am while watching 'knocked up' so not all bad. Now woken up to snow which I really wasn't expecting! Have a good Saturday ladies

TouchPauseEngage · 31/01/2015 08:32

Can I ask some advice of those of you who've already got DC?
Is a changing table downstairs useful? We have a really big downstairs loo which is where all coats, shoes etc live and where we will store pram. There is room for a changing table and I'm wondering if it's worth having one downstairs too? I figure most nappy changes will be downstairs so worth making it easy.

Upstairs I have a chest of drawers so was going to add a changing top to that.
I've seen a unit on eBay which would fit perfectly but not sure whether to bid.
Thanks x

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 31/01/2015 08:45

Touch I had a changing table upstairs and another downstairs. Made things much easier for me so I'd definitely recommend it if you have the space.

Thepurplegiraffe · 31/01/2015 09:25

So on top of continuing morning sickness I am pretty sure I have the norovirus. I have been sick 5 times since 6am and (tmi) it is coming out the other end too. I also feel absolutely awful and have stomach cramps. I am trying to drink water in between being sick but a bit worried about dehydration for bean. I was sick last Saturday too so really having a crap couple of weeks Sad

LostSoulsForever · 31/01/2015 09:27

Touch, we did most nappy changes downstairs too so if you have room I would definitely have one. Although we tended just to do most changes on a mat on the floor (& still do!).

LostSoulsForever · 31/01/2015 09:35

Purple, can you take rehydration sachets when pregnant? Might be worth a try if you are worried about dehydration (assuming you can keep it down). Hope you feel better soon.

WiIdfire · 31/01/2015 09:36

Hugs for you purplegiraffe... But, erm, from a distance if thats ok. You could drink Diarolyte if you can get it down as it'll help with rehydration etc. Hope it passes quickly. I had similar for a week at 8 weeks and everything looked fine at the 12 week scan.

Toast - Southampton has John Lewis, Mama and Papas, Babys R Us all with huge pram sections. However it is about 70 mins from you, so would be a day trip. We were there to visit family anyway. There is also an Ikea for furniture and they are all within walking distance of each other.

WantToGoingTo · 31/01/2015 09:58

Both me and DH earn below £50k, but together our earning are above £50k so does that mean we qualify for full chip benefit? I thought we were quite well off but feel quite poor compared to those of you earning above £50k! I am still early on in my career though, as is DH :)

sarky WOOHOO! So so pleased for you, have all y fingers crossed that this one sticks. When would be your due date?

WantToGoingTo · 31/01/2015 10:00

wildfire and toast I can vouch for Southampton it is 15 mins from me! All the shops wildfire listed are also right next to each other and mamas and papas has it's own free car park :) the Mothercare and John Lewis are huge too. Shopping is great in Southampton that's where we are planning to go pram shopping :)

Thepurplegiraffe · 31/01/2015 10:01

Thanks ladies, unfortunately DH is also ill so not much chance of getting anything like that. 6 times now and no signs of stopping.

WiIdfire · 31/01/2015 10:12

Oh yes - forgot Mothercare aswell! Southampton is great for shopping.

Purple - google 'St. mark's Solution' and it will give you a recipe for your own rehydration fluid. Something like a litre of water, a teaspoon of salt, couple of teaspoons of sugar and a little bicarbonate of soda. Or something like that. I added squash though so it wasnt so vile. :-(

Bustherb · 31/01/2015 10:34

Want - I think it very much depends where u live re wages. I earn £30k and it's considered quite high for where I live. So don't put yourself down Smile xx

Naturegirl82 · 31/01/2015 11:46

I'm not sure you can use rehydration sachets when pregnant. I vaguely remember there being a warning on it when I checked a while ago
