So much to catch up on, this has moved to fast for me today.

This talk of nurseries has made me do some googling, Crikey! I need to get thinking about this- I am planning on having between 9-12 months off and one of the nurseries already says that it is full until April 2016!!! Yikes, I had no idea I would need to start thinking about this before nipper even arrived!

Naturegirl82 · 29/01/2015 18:54

bust just honey and lemon recommendation here as well. You can have halls soothers as well if they help. But don't take lemsip or anything with a decongestant in it as that can affect blood flow across the placenta (and milk supply for future reference for those of you planning on bf).

Had 16 week appointment today too. Heard the hb which is a relief. May have a uti but not definite so mw left some dip sticks with me to keep an eye on it. Booked 20 week scan as well (but I'll be 19+3 so it falls in half term and Dh can come).

Hello everyone new Smile

Thepurplegiraffe · 29/01/2015 19:06

Hi all
I also had my 16 week appointment today and massive relief there was a heart beat. She didn't offer to listen to it, and explained they don't recommend it but was happy enough to do it.
Hmn you lot have me a bit worried about nurseries, I want current dd to start this June or July when she leaves the childminder. Only 1 day a week so I'm hoping they will be able to accommodate but should definitely get on it.

twinky12 · 29/01/2015 19:08

Found u all and caught up. Hi to the newbies.
Bumps growing pretty quick here 15 wk today.
Ladies I remember the talk of constipation? Was it fibrogel that was recommended? Haven't been for 8 days now and I'm admitting defeat tomorrow and getting something lol Grin

Threeplus1 · 29/01/2015 19:13

I'd be well frustrated with the whole not listening for the heartbeat before 20 weeks thing. When I was in the UK my last midwife listened in at 14 weeks (can't remember with older dc as was yonks ago)
Here the midwife said that they listen in from 12 weeks so I got to hear (and record it on my phone!) from early on.

I had all the childcare arrangements issues with dd2 back in the UK and struggled to find anything affordable and local. Luckily DH got the job offer to move here whilst I was still on mat leave so I never did need them in the end as I've been a SAHM since. I'm sure glad I won't need to go through it again, especially as in the area I live, prices are similar London prices for childcare.

pinkie1982 · 29/01/2015 19:16

I have my mw appointment next week but they don't listen for hb after 24 weeks :(

StoneBaby · 29/01/2015 19:34

twinky yes it is fybogel

MsRyanGosling · 29/01/2015 19:39

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn

They said almost exact same to me at my 16w app.

I have very low ferritin and low HB and am on iron. Firstly tablets but made me so I'll I've moved onto Floradix.

The MW said they can't distinguish between the anaemia and Thalassemia carrier status as the type of anaemia can mimic thalassemia.

They won't do anything until I have another blood test at 24? week to see if my iron levels have improved/ carrier status gone.

Not too good really - if by small chance me and DP were carriers then yes the baby will have it with varying different outcomes Confused doesn't allow much time for fetal testing/choices if appropriate.

I'm just thinking I can't be a carrier as I've already had 3 DC and it's never come up before and any anaemia I've had hasn't started this early on, it's usually after the 28w bloods it appears.

Sorry long post!

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 29/01/2015 19:40

Threeplus mine said she isn't going to listen to it at all Hmm. She said it's their clinic policy not to do it anymore as they just rely on the mother tracking movements. I'm a bit dubious as a friend of mine went to her 38 week appt and they found the baby's heart rate was low, she was taken into hospital and kept in and monitored until she was induced.

Luckily I think we'll be moving house when I'm around 24 weeks so will be seeing a different midwife.

broodylicious · 29/01/2015 19:43

Eek so much to have caught up on today! Chatty ladies hereSmile

Phew, so glad everything is ok butler. I'd been thinking of you today.

want, re childcare vouchers - they're never valid just for one childcare setting. I know this because I worked for a cv provider for five years actually it was busy bees FYI! so I'd get that checked out. As someone has said, it is changing this year anyway but still defo worth looking into as it will still save a lot of money on extortionately expensive nursery, childminder, nanny, playgroup, out of school club fees right up until bubba turns 15 years old!

TouchPauseEngage · 29/01/2015 19:47

Twinky yes to fybogel take it before bed for ultimate relief the next morning! But you have to drink it as soon as you make it or it turns to disgusting gloop!

twinky12 · 29/01/2015 20:03

Thanks stone and touch the ultimate relief sounds to good right now lol, ill be at the chemist tomorrow Smile

Butler4 · 29/01/2015 20:38

Thanks broody, that's very kind of you. Think I am going to stay off work tomorrow and try and relax. Need to stop worrying all the time. Have lots of lovely friends and family looking after me cos dh is away.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 29/01/2015 20:57

Ps glad all is well Butler!

WantToGoingTo · 29/01/2015 21:23

Thanks broody as you can tell, naive first timer Grin

My work childcare vouchers say for anywhere, just DH's that specify Confused but if laws are changing in October anyway won't affect me at all :)

Off to bed... avoiding doing the washing up (DH is out! He will kill me tomorrow morning probably..!) have long day at work tomorrow; all day meeting, makes me feel tired just thinking about it!

Naturegirl82 · 29/01/2015 22:30

Argh just realised it's my friends hen do next weekend. Hadn't realised it was so soon. It's going to be such a long day - 4-5 hour drive then all day activities and club in the evening. I'm going to be exhausted. Really hope this cold buggers off before then as I really don't want to be a misery.

Lewaney3 · 29/01/2015 23:03

Hi ladies,

Nice to hear of all those with baby heartbeat updates :)
I had a thorough check up today at UCL hospital. We got to hear the twins' heartbeats... It really does make it all worthwhile :) also surprised at the lack of consistency across clinics regarding listening to heartbeat? I also got to listen to heartbeat at 12 week scan upon discovery of twins.

14+3 today... 16 week appointment seems so far away.

However at today and yesterday's scan we were told what sex they are...twin boys!! However I know it's early so I'm going to wait until 20 week scan but it makes it feel so much more real!....can you tell I'm a first timer haha

Also I know it's still early but have any of you looked into nursery furniture yet? There's so much variety I'm not too sure who do well made stuff...currently looking at a lot of John Lewis range. :)

LostSoulsForever · 30/01/2015 02:48

Hello ladies! Thanks for the additional welcomes, and hello to those that have joined recently Smile
I am exhausted! It was never like this with DC1 so has taken me by surprise. I am in bed by 8 most nights. That's a rock 'n' roll lifestyle right there...
I was told at my booking in app that they no longer check for the heartbeat but have a different midwife on Monday for my 16 week app so I am going to try my luck Wink
Bump is coming along nicely, I am currently about the same size as I was at about 22 weeks in last pregnancy, but not really feeling movements yet.
Butler, pleased everything is ok & you have people looking after you.

Butler4 · 30/01/2015 07:53

Congratulations on twin boys lewaney, that's fantastic news. We have looked at mamas and papas furniture and some of that looks sturdy and they have a sale on until Sunday.

LaLa5 · 30/01/2015 08:22

Lewaney congrats on your boys!! Lovely news :)

Welcome lost and anyone else I've not said hello to yet!

I'm very impatient, want to start feeling baby move!

16+3

luckythirteen · 30/01/2015 08:40

Lewaney Great news! Congratulations! We found out the sexes at our 16 week scan, but have kept it to ourselves as it seemed so early. Having a private scan tomorrow and if all seems clear and is confirmed, might spill the beans!!

We have definitely been looking into furniture, we really liked the Knightsbridge range at Mothercare.

Number3cometome · 30/01/2015 09:05

Lewaney, lovely news!

My OH wanted twin boys, we are having just the one baby so he's still holding out hope it's a boy - scan is on Valentines day!

My back is absolutely hurting me so badly today. I feel like the bones are rubbing together!! I do have a spinal fusion (picture) so thought at some point it may kick off, but didn't expect it this early! Normally my back pain is fine at a level that I can cope with but with only paracetamol to help I'm struggling to walk today and sitting only makes it worse.

It's definitely the SI joint, I can feel it. ARGHH

It's my birthday next week, might beg OH to get me a pregnancy massage.

I'm seeing the consultant Monday to discuss C-section plans / blood pressure / previous eclampsia so will mention the pain, not that they can do anything, but moaning makes me feel better!

Bluetulips · 30/01/2015 09:10

Hello all, another newbie joining the club,I did lurk on the first thread but got upset at all the early losses having been there before so decided I wasn't joining anything till after my first scan. This is baby number 3 due July 26th, I will have a 18 & 14 yr gap between them, feel very much like I've forgotten a lot & that makes me nervous !
