You are very lucky fatty! I think my mum will do 1 day a week when she retires but she isn't due to retire until October/November 2016 and I will be going back to work in April full time. DH also works full time and mil lives too fr away to be feasible. We will need nursery, don't think we have much choice though as DH work childcare vouchers only valid for busy bees. As don't need til April think we will wait til baby is here before we look, I think I woul feel silly visiting nurseries with not Ben much of a bump to show... Seems crazy all this waiting list business though :O

WantToGoingTo · 29/01/2015 15:27

Even! Not Ben!

BadIdeaBear · 29/01/2015 16:04

Oh cool - good to know I'm definitely doing the right thing then!

A nice start this morning - lovely house and people, and meeting another childminder on Saturday.

Aretepetite · 29/01/2015 16:24

Butler4 · 29/01/2015 16:27

Great news Butler!!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 29/01/2015 16:44

WantTo the childcare voucher system is changing in October this year anyway, you should be able to choose any childcare provider you want and the government will pay 20% of the cost (think its up to £2,000 per child per year) directly rather than using employers voucher schemes. There are certain conditions (have to both be working over a set amount for example) but it means you don't need to select a provider based on which vouchers they accept.

ohlordyplordy · 29/01/2015 16:44

lovely to hear all is well butler

CanIhavesomeginnowplease · 29/01/2015 17:09

BadIdeaBear · 29/01/2015 17:25

Good to hear your news butler - and pleased everyone was so nice to you!

smallgreenbanana · 29/01/2015 17:33

Had my mw appt - heard the heartbeat (yey!) and saw my blood results. Sugar low and iron high (which was a surprise to me as I was borderline anaemic before I got pg!). Just waiting for quad results. And then it's on to 20 week scan in 3 weeks! How time is just flying at the moment.

Welcome to all the newcomers. Smile And good to hear you are ok butler

WantToGoingTo · 29/01/2015 17:36

Oooo thats interesting mister as there is one nursert near us that all the mums on the local nct group rave about. It is more expensive though :/

Butler great news! Must be so relieved :)

I think I have developed a chocolate biscuit addiction. They are my new thing. I won't even admit how many I have eaten today...

ohlordyplordy · 29/01/2015 17:38

Bustherb · 29/01/2015 18:03

Butler so glad everything's gone well Grin. I bleed after dtd so my midwife has referred me to the consultant, it's something I've always had so I'm not too concerned over it.

Booked a gender scan for Sunday, can't wait!!!!! WinkWink

Anybody have any recommendations for a cold and sore throat? Feel sooooo yucky xxx

fattycow · 29/01/2015 18:14

butler, glad to hear things are okay.

To the new ones, welcome and please pop your stats in the list that you can find in the first post.
There is no need to list how far along you are in normal posts, as you can see that in the stats list. Smile

I asked the Boots pharmacist what to take re. cold, blocked sinuses and sore throat earlier and they said paracetamol only/try honey and lemon. So not much help. Brew

Bustherb · 29/01/2015 18:18

Thanks cheet xxx

Threeplus1 · 29/01/2015 18:27

bustherb try adding a few drops of therapeutic grade eucalyptus essential oil to a bowl of hot water and put a towel over your head and inhale the steam. I'd also recommend homemade chicken noodle soup (use bone in pieces for more nutrients) - they don't call it Jewish penicillin for nothing!

As cheetarah said, honey and lemon (add ginger and a pinch of turmeric for extra boost) tea is good and will soothe your throat and give you extra vitamins and minerals too.
Basically you want to boost your immune system as much as you can.

Hope you feel better soon x

TTCMrsF · 29/01/2015 18:36

Hippy, super and CanI welcome ladies! Butler glad all ok for you, great news.

Mister had my 16week today too. We heard heartbeat too! Lovely. But no news on my blood test results...

Plus on way to midwife I think I definitely felt some squirmy type movements, definitely something going on down there I can feel!

No belly button news from me. ?? But belly is definitely starting to grow, I don't think I've 'popped' yet but getting a bit of a bump (pic attached from a 1st timer at 16wks). And it gets / feels bigger after evening meal too!

We had actually started to think of childcare too! We have the village school and nursery opposite the end of our road (but nursery times are too late / finish too early for both our work which just typical), Having 1 year off so july 16, but didn't think they'd need booking up over 1yr in advance. Fingers crossed hopefully my mum will want to do some nanna days but she doesn't drive and her house is opposite direction to my work (which is a 1hr trip anyway!) so ? we may pay for her to taxi to us! So still a cost to consider.

Thanks for update on childcare vouchers changes. Good to know.

Anyone know what the rules are on getting child benefit (what level of earnings is it that you, or DP can earn up to still get it) did that change recently too?
