Best of luck for your exam Penguin. Shame you have to be smartly dressed.

Does anyone know procedure once MATB1 handed in? I'm fairly standard insofar as I will be entitled to SMP. Don't get any more than that. Last time I hadn't been there long enough so only got mat allowance. What should I expect to happen next? Thanks.

DH enraged me this morning by going all passive aggressive about his shirts not being ironed and claimed the collars had gone funny bc I'd put them in the t dryer. Claimed I 'always used to hang them up to dry.' This is a vicious lie. He's lucky I didn't grab the iron and brand him with it. I was quite proud of my response actually I said if he needed help with ironing this is something we can discuss calmly and no need to go PA on me.

The solution obviously is that the dry cleaner deals with them. I have no problem with taking and collecting once a week. Men!

another one starting to waddle, I don't think I'm carrying that big yet, but then I jumped out of the car and ran into Pets at home the other night and saw OH laughing hysterically and my lopsided penguin run Blush

I also have to roll myself out of the bed already, can't paint my toes anymore Sad and have to make a little nest in my bed with pillows for me to wedge myself into every night so I stop rolling on my back and waking up in pain! pregnancy is so glam Grin

I've been quite lucky with my work, but then we are a SME so it's all a lot more personal, I get on very well with the HR Manager and I work very closely with our CEO, who has been fab and basically said you tell me what you want and we'll make it work! Maternity cover will most likely start mid march for a 2 week handover then another 2 weeks doing the role with me in the office doing something else or working from home. I'm planning on working a couple of weeks during my Mat leave to boost my money when the rest of it runs out as our savings are absolutely depleted after buying the new house Confused so they are finding ways to boost my money once the KIT days are finished if I still wanted to do a bit more.

I can't believe people are hitting the 30 week mark already Shock it still seems far away for me at 26+4 but time seems to have been on fast forward since we were all knicker checking Wink

smog as far as I remember if you're entitled to SMP things are fairly easy peasy, you've handed in your MATB1 form, work will assess that you're entitled to SMP and do the rest. Just make sure you keep hold of your payslips (especially once you're on maternity leave) and get your MATB1 form back just in case heaven forbid your work goes into administration like mine did last time round as you'll need payslips and your matb1 form to get the government to take over the payments and the quicker you can get that stuff to them the quicker they can take over the payments, took me forever because I don't have my MATB1 form and had no filing system for my payslips, by the time I'd sorted it they gave me a very nice lump sum!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 23/01/2015 10:17

I feel like a beached whale trying to get out of bed, I waddle, and oh dear gods am I sick of peeing all the damn time!

29 weeks... won't be allowed to get to 40, so within 10 weeks this will be over. Kind of scary!

smogsville · 23/01/2015 10:23

Thanks Boo. I didn't know that I should still expect to receive payslips when on mat leave so good to have the heads-up on that.

Slightly concerned that I have no memory of anything from last time! It's like a giant fog.

Wow thread 9- I haven't kept up with the threads very well!
Hope everyone's ok!
27+4 now, very exciting Grin starting to feel a lot more tired now, although I haven't got a very big bump at all. Sometimes feel a bit breathless and also having a bit of nausea again. Maybe it's my body trying to cope with all of this eating I'm doing!
Haven't got a lot of get-up-and-go at the moment, anyone else the same?
X

RL20 · 23/01/2015 10:48

Squatting I've just read your recent comment! Were at exactly the same stage and sounds like were feeling the same too!

Lauren82000 · 23/01/2015 10:49

Oo I'm picking up my wool from the post office today, getting very excited about knitting, let's hope I have the patience to stick with it and actually produce something that is wearable. I'll be pestering my mum tomorrow to get me started.

RL20 · 23/01/2015 11:14

Lauren I wanted to knit too as my mum can knit but she thought it might be a little too difficult for me to start with so instead I've been working on making a patchwork blanket Grin it's about half way finished now and it feels so rewarding knowing you made it yourself! My next mission is definitely to knit something small like a hat or some booties! I wouldn't know where to start with knitting though! Good luck x

cinnamongreyhound · 23/01/2015 11:29

Mine feel a bit more shaky when I do them if that makes sense BananaToast!

Good luck for your exam!

I have a waddle if I've sat for too long and rolling over in bed/sitting up takes a lot of toing and froing.

Insurance company have said they will cover our claim for the DIY disaster. Thank goodness as window man started this morning, so not as skint as we thought now. Phew.

GTT came back normal. Can I celebrate with a cake?!

Just had my endocrinologist appointment and am now waiting for bloods to be taken. The hospital blood clinic is much more cattle like than the GP, I have a ticket number and everything lol.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/01/2015 12:56

That's what our hospital has Sairie, like Tesco meat/deli counter used be Wink

Only 25 mins late in for my antiD, despite being assured the clinic runs on time and then they made me wait 10mins after to make sure I felt ok. She apologised for the injection Confused. Made it back to pick mindee up with 10mins to spare, phew!!

Oh and if anyone is looking for a sling/carrier. Tots Bots have papoozle in their Clearance sale for £20. I've just ordered one!

Lauren82000 · 23/01/2015 14:19

Squatting, personally I think they should bring back domestic classes but make everyone do them not just the girls. Useful life skills, I mean if you can't sew a button or a popped seam how will you ever sew names into your childrens clothes. Smile (I am a terribly sloppy seamstress but I can still get a button on and close up a hole even if it is pretty dogs hind leg. Great with a cross stitch though)

sew names? a sharpie on the label is how I have been doing it Grin

Lauren82000 · 23/01/2015 14:38

I have to confess Tiny I use a biro on the label for DDs nursery stuff. Think I might fork out for those fancy sewing ones for when she starts school in September.

I'm very tempted about that £19.99 sling, I'm still getting a manduca carrier for out and about but think a soft sling would be better for round the house I was looking at the close caboo's but for the price of that papoozle I could easily justify it myself.

mswibble · 23/01/2015 14:41

Lauren was it you that receieved a letter about a HV doing a home visit? I've had one too! She's coming the second week of Feb Confused I hope I have a fully working bathroom and the house isn't still chaos by then! The 'nursery' has bare floorboards and is full of boxes of tiles, grout, tile cutters and lots and lots of crap that needs sorting.

I would love to knit! I may try during my mat leave as I'd love to make something even really simple like a plain blanket.

minipie · 23/01/2015 14:54

Yes yes to turtle on back, walrus, beached whale... I struggle to get out of bed and off the sofa and it's not that comfy leaning backwards, I need a million cushions to prop me forwards on the sofa. So dignified!

lauren, you could look for second hand close caboos if that's what you wanted, they only get used for a couple of months mostly so likely to be pretty pristine.

Pelvic floor exercises... oops. Haven't done any for months.

kismac · 23/01/2015 15:04

I've been looking at the Ergo carrier but is very expensive, so thought I'd try a cheap sling and if I get on ok with it then might invest in the Ergo. i'd hate to spend all that money only to find the baby doesn't like it or I'm too much of a weakling to carry the baby!

BananaToast · 23/01/2015 15:07

I'm keeping an eye on eBay for a second hand Close Caboo. Can't justify one for £60 but if I can get one for around £30-40 I'll give it a try. I was looking at the Moby wrap but think I'd rather have one that's less complicated to put on!

Squatting how hard was it to learn how to knit a basic blanket? I've toyed with the idea but worried it will look rubbish and be a total waste of time. I'm lucky that I have a knitter for a MIL so baby already has lots of cardigans, hats, mittens, booties and a really pretty blanket, but I like the idea of making something for him myself.

Lauren82000 · 23/01/2015 15:26

Mswibble I got a phone call from them but pregnant colleague got a letter. She mentioned a visit on the phone and a date but I just told her I work so wouldn't be in. I'm going to her instead and ill have to have the house check when baby is born like everyone else! Tbh I get a bit insulted that they have to check you don't live in a hovel. It's not the 1950's anymore people don't live in slums. Angry

I went and bought the papoozle btw I liked the clippy waist band. The only reason I was looking at a caboo was that it was partially tied if you will so easier to get on with. I'd go for just a tie it yourself if I was brave enough to get it right and not drop the baby Blush
