BESH Graduates having a moan about the lack of Gin whilst actually being over the fucking moon to finally have a reason to not be able to drink it! Grin Anything goes, especially asking the wiser CRESH for their sage advice on the horrors and amazement to come when we get the the biggest WIN in history! Bring your baybees here! Grin

Yay Fab - pull up a twat cushion and get cosy! Grin

That's reassuring Fank; what you've described is exactly how L is behaving. He does gulp a lot of air when he feeds as he guzzles it down like someone's going to steal it from him - no table manners at all!

I've had a stressful morning already just from walking the dog. Managed to get L and dog down 3 flights of stairs to the car park, rest L on passenger seat while getting pushchair out of back seat and keeping an eye on dog, get him loaded in pushchair and let dog off lead by the cockle pond, noticed a rogue swan on the grass so put dog back on lead and managed to almost tip the pushchair into the pond whilst pulling him away from the swan. I'm not likely to get mother of the year award! How do people manage with dogs and babies?!

And breathe...

TheOriginalWinkly · 18/03/2015 08:55

cunty do you have a decent sling of some kind? Having him in a sling and having both hands free would make stairs and dog wrangling a lot simpler if you can find one you get on with.

Fankletastic · 18/03/2015 10:43

Yes, what Winks said. A sling would be a big help. See if you've got a sling library near you where you can borrow one for a few weeks, see how you get on, take it back and borrow a different one. I love my local sling library as they also offer great advice. They are hugely passionate about baby wearing. I must use mine more before it has to go back....

Well done on getting out so early cunty. Poor you with the tricky swan avoidance. I long for a black lab and get the green eyed monster when I see couples out with their baby and dog in tow. But I guess the reality of life with a baby and dog is simply more work and more to think about as its like having another person to take care of. You are doing great! What kind of dog do you have?

MissHobart · 18/03/2015 20:15

Evening Wise Ones!

I know this has been done to death but I'm struggling to work my way through old threads and would rather get advice from you lot!

I'm trying to sort out my hospital bags, I'm having a CS but not sure how long I'll be in for, I'm mainly struggling with the baby bag though. So have a look and tell me what I do/don't need!

Me
6 pairs massive pants (I mean MAHOOSIVE!! Grin ) + maternity and always night max pads.
3 nighties
1 pair pyjamas
Dressing gown
Flip-flops
Washbag: toothbrush etc, lip balm, moisturiser, wash stuff, hair stuff.
Medications: prescription plus windeeze type stuff and califig syrup.
Snacks, water bottle, squash.
Breast pads + lanisoh + BF pillow (Boppy one).
Camera.
Going Home clothes (trackies/stretchy t-shirt/jumper).
3 pairs socks.
I'll get BR to buy fresh fruit and juice once I'm in (If she's early, otherwise we'll get that the day before).

Baby
Pack nappies.
Pack water wipes.
Sudocrem.
3 x first size s.sleeve vests.
3 x first size sleepsuits.
2 x hats.
2 x scratch mitts.
1 x newborn "going home" outfit (just cos I've got one!)
3 x up to 1m sleep suits (need to get some s.s vests)
2 x muslins
1 x burp cloth
6 pack pre sterilised ready to go bottles of formula (I'm planning to breastfeed so these are "just in case" and mean I can pack now without sterilising anything!)

I feel like I've got everything but also that I'm missing something! We live 10/15 minutes away from the hospital and it's in the middle of the city so I'm sure anything I need can be easily brought in!

Update re everything else: brilliant appointment with the consultant yesterday, I'm in safe and more importantly understanding hands! We'll be working with the birth matters team to set up a birth plan in case of early labour and also in case she isn't there on the day so that anyone else knows exactly what needs to happen! Spelt out to reduce anxiety! She's hoping to get me to meet the rest of the team beforehand too. She also showed BR how to feel the head (and that he can squidge harder to feel stuff!) and felt for a foot too so he was really happy! And me! Smile

All seems to be going well! We have our parentcraft class tomorrow night which should be interesting!

Merk - a year?!? Time flies!

Cunty - I agree, I'm just aiming for fed, warm and happy, and am going to do my best! Well done on getting out and about, especially with a dog too! I always thought getting a puppy at the same time as having a baby would be a good idea as I'd be on maternity and have time to train it! Hmm Definitly NOT happening! Confused

Yes to eyemask, earplugs and pillow.

No to the pram suit, I was thinking the "outfit" of vest, bottoms, cardie and hat plus a blanket for the car seat, it'll be May and we'll be going from door to car to door.

Going to Tesco now to stock up!

Urgh Fanklet had his immunisations yesterday and has had a bad night...and bad day today. We have just stayed in all day rocking and cuddling him as he is so out of sorts. No temperature but his skin is hot to touch. He looks like he's got a bit of heat rash.

Not a good 24 hours

??

Excellent hospital bag MissH. You are ready to have your baybee!

TheOriginalWinkly · 21/03/2015 15:47

Poor fanklet :( MiniWink was a misery guts after her first jabs too. She pretty much lived in the stretchy wrap with a boob in her mouth for a day. The next day when we went to MIL's to meet HWCA's entire extended family was a treat Hmm

Fankletastic · 21/03/2015 16:12

Oh god. How long did the misery last?
Was she the same after her 12 week jabs? I ask because Fanklet is booked for his the same day that we have friends coming to stay for the weekend with their 2 kids. Maybe I should ask if I can postpone...it would be awful if he were like this then as well. We haven't been able to do anything today. Well, apart from le sechs for the first time since he was born Blush I have to say it was a bit chafey... (!)

TheOriginalWinkly · 21/03/2015 16:31

She had her 8 week jabs late on the Friday, and she was miserable on the Saturday and Sunday, fine by the Monday. I don't recall her being miserable at all really after the other two sets, neither does HWCA.

You've done well being at the sechs! [lube emoticon]

do you have any frosties?

Seriously though, what bit are you yearning for? A brand new baby? Remember they don't stay brand new for long, and it's painful and exhausting. P is still very little as well. Apologies if the next bit is wide off the mark - is there a possibility that somewhere in you is a part that thinks you can 'make up for' how poorly you were in the early days, do it 'right' next time (quotes because clearly you've done absolutely nothing wrong, she is thriving!!)?

FriendofDorothy · 22/03/2015 21:52

I'd say get pregnant if you want, but don't expect it to go the way you want it to! You could spend forever trying to right what happened before only for something else to ruin the dream!

A small gap is hard work too. If you think one is tricky try having two making demands on your time and not really understanding that they aren't the only centre of your universe.

FriendofDorothy · 26/03/2015 21:19

Well, that killed the conversation.

MissHobart · 27/03/2015 11:24

No worries Dor ! I've often brought things to a standstill! Grin

At what point did everyone stop having sex? 34 weeks now and we've not done it in nearly 4 weeks! I now feel massive, and definitely NOT sexy at all, what with the tena lady etc Hmm I'm not really arsed but miss the intimacy and feel sorry for BR!

OP posts:
MissHobart · 27/03/2015 12:57

Also, did you wash the baby clothes? If so in what? Are the "baby" washing liquids and softeners a con? Surely washing in the same stuff as our clothes is best? Confused

OP posts:
TheOriginalWinkly · 27/03/2015 20:27

We last did the sechs at around 28/30 weeks (roughly). Not my choice, but HWCA and I have very very different ideas about what constitutes a satisfactory sex life Angry

I did wash the weeny newborn clothes, just in regular non-bio, to get rid of that plasticky smell and and dust that lingered from sitting around stock rooms etc.

I am edging on broody. I'm back at work and although I hated pregnancy I've loved the baby stages, despite its many challenges, and am quite wistful about the thought of a teeny squish...

Fabuluce · 27/03/2015 21:17

Roughly eh Winks? That's a bold choice at that late stage Wink

Miss I have absolutely no answers to your questions I'm afraid Hag - ask me anything about ivf and I'm your woman but pregnancy and motherhood? Tis a mystery! I'm hoping I can learn lots from your journeeee and ask you lots of questions if/when the time comes.

I'm 9 whole weeks pregnant tomorrow which means I'm more pregnant that I've ever been before. I've had some cramping this eve that called for a wheaty bag and some back ache but no bleeding and it's subsided to normal everyday aching (that I've had since embryo transfer). That's just growing stuff isn't it? Nothing to worry about??

TheOriginalWinkly · 27/03/2015 21:29

fab yes normal. In fact every arsing bastarding part of me had a go at hurting like a bastard at some point or another through pregnancy, and it was all totally utterly normal. The early pregnancy stretchy womble pains are a headfuck. When's your next scan?

Fabuluce · 27/03/2015 21:36

Yes those are the ones I think I've got. Headfuckery indeed. Next scan is 10w3d so only 11 days away. Not that I'm counting mind....
