Oh buggeration Bugs that's hard. Definitely push her towards the BESH for comfort and solidarity if you can. Our chances were horrifically low, because of my age and it being our 3rd go - I did one of those online calc thingies and I think it came up as something along the lines of 6% and yet amazingly against the odds it worked. It can happen and IVF isn't the end of the world as we can all testify Smile

Booooo. Any news on the job?

badb · 04/08/2015 09:19

Hi all. Long time no post.

bugs Sad

How is everyone doing? I'm 16 weeks now, another scan next week, yay. Feels like ages since the last one.

Hags, I'm freaking out a bit. Was out for dinner at the weekend, and had a starter with goats cheese. I asked the waiter if it was pasteurised, and it was, so I tucked in all delighted with myself. However, when I checked the guidelines yesterday I saw that if its mould ripened it's not ok, pasteurised or not. It was mould ripened, and served cold as well. Mr Badb has been reassuring me the risks of contracting listeria are miniscule, and rationally I know that, and know that I'm probably exposing myself to more of a risk eating salad, but I can't stop stressing about it. Apparently you might not show any symptoms with listeria, and even if you do, they don't show up for 2-6 weeks. I need to calm down, but I can't stop reading stuff about listeria online.

It's really tricky isn't it - I've been super good with not eating the naughty things but one of the first things I did when 5 weeks diffed was eat a goat's cheese pizza with blatantly not properly cooked goat's cheese on there. Felt guilty for ages but am still fine. Smile in my heart I know I could get away with eating most things and be fine but I figure it took us so long to get here that a few months of being careful isn't a bad thing. I'm totes looking forward to my first meal of pate, Gorgonzola, scrum my bread and a glass of red wine though. Ooooooooh.

Fabuluce · 04/08/2015 10:35

Well done on the positivity Bugs that sounds exactly right - time to offload the crappy boss!!

badb · 04/08/2015 13:43

Thanks hags. Dr Google is the worst. Fecking menkul. Anyway, its eaten now, I can't uneat it, so I just have to cop on!

I think I've been feeling a bit of movement over the last few weeks, but it's a bit early, isn't it? So maybe it isn't. But every so often, when I lie down and am very still, there's a strange sensation in my stomach - sort of like when you are nervous before an exam or presentation, or when you go over a bump in the road. Sort of swooshy and unsettled. I don't think I'm explaining it well. It's probably gas! Of which I have lots Hmm

bugs, two other jobs sounds promising. Go bugs

Fab, I've told Mr Badb that as soon as this baby is out, he needs to bring me a rare steak and a massive glass of red wine, stat. By the way, thanks for the porridge tip to 'get things moving' a while ago. I've started having a bowl every morning, and a glass of OJ, and while I'm not back to normal, every second day is certainly better than where I was...cheers!

Fabuluce · 04/08/2015 19:16

Well done on the porridge bowel movement! I have even better news - mine seem to be mostly back to normal now and I don't always have to have porridge every day. Thank the Lord and hallelujah! So hopefully you will do the same Wink

You never know, that could well be movement!! I didn't officially feel mine until 18 weeks when I was having a Doppler and the GP said that noise is a kick, at the same time as I felt a little pop in my tum. I was pretty sure I'd felt it before then but figured it could also be wind so you never know!! Keep a watchful eye out and sooner or later it will become quite distinctive Smile. Mine is a little wriggler and rarely stops at all, there's always something happening down there! It's actually really lovely and comforting and not weird at all. Well ok it is a bit at first but it's also a sign that everything is going as it should SmileSmile

FizzyFeet · 06/08/2015 20:26

Hooray for better bowel movements! I'm looking forward to feeling movements - feels very strange to just be a bit fat and not really feel pregnant. Have you told more people now bad? We have been telling more people now which has been really nice, though I think I need to change the expression on my face from terror and disbelief to happiness!

Fabuluce · 06/08/2015 22:39

So I had my 28 week consultant appointment today and he said the due to the combination of my Motherfucker gene mutation, high anti-Ro count, old age and IVF status that I'm high risk for the baby being small (doesn't feel small from here!) so I now have to have scans and a consultant appointment at week 30, 34 and 36. My gut feel is that everything has progressed perfectly as it should thus far and I'm measuring totally average on everything so it should be fine but I guess there's still a little niggle there. On the positive side though he said he could see no reason for me to be induced at 39 weeks so long as I agree in principal to induction at 40 weeks and the closer I'm monitored the better so I said I'm fine with that. Oh, and my GTT came back completely fine ????. So the synopsis is that everything is fine but they are just being overly cautious and the bonus is I get to see the baby a few more times before evac day. Which is nice.

Ladies you are definitely preggers - time to start getting used to the idea I reckon Wink

YouCant · 07/08/2015 14:49

How do peeps, I am ditching the other place again, I am to unusual and the world is too small of a place. I also am not really a big fan of how sucked into it get, im much happier when its closed! I shall continue to lurk this joint though!

CaveMum · 07/08/2015 18:56

Just checking in to make sure you're ok YouCant, your absence has been noticed and folks just want to make sure you & the small one are ok. PM me if you want.

Thanks Bugs! I haven't put anything on FB on purpose and instagram is something and nothing really. I'm not worried about people knowing, i'm not friends with any bellends, I just think I'd rather be inconspicuous by name until all the T's are crossed and I's dotted. Plus FB annoys me sometimes, it's so nice to chat to people but then I get bombarded with stuff from people I don't want to talk to. It was so bad this time as I think they got the message after my last absence but even still...

badb · 10/08/2015 13:57

Hi all.

YouCant, I don't know your story but I totally agree about Facebook.

fab, extra scans are great! Great news re induction as well.

fizz, I've started telling people as I meet them. All my friends know, and some of my colleagues, but I don't tend to meet them that often during the summer, which is downtime at work, for the most part. I feel weird telling people, for some reason. Like...a bit smug or something, or self-congratulatory. I know that's ridiculous. I just don't actually like saying the words. Maybe it's a hangover from the stress of ttc.

Scan tomorrow, at 17+2. Have the scan menkul, of course.

How did the scan go Bad?

badb · 11/08/2015 14:33

Scan went well, thanks! Measuring 10 days ahead, but Mr Badb is over 6ft so consultant was neither surprised nor inclined to change due date. We have our anomaly scan in three weeks. So not too long of a wait!

Someone announced my pregnancy on Facebook! Angry Well, made mention of it in a comment on another friend's wall (she posted her own pregnancy announcement, and the person said something along the lines of "and Badb too - your babies will be great pals!)). I feel kind of annoyed - I want to ask her to delete the comment, but am I being precious? We have lots of friends in common. I just don't feel ready for it to be all over FB.

How are you all doing?

YouCant · 11/08/2015 18:26

I don't think you're being precious, not everyone wants everything plastered all over FB or at least if you do you get to have control over when it is announced. I'd ask for it to be removed. My friend did something similar and accidentally announced her SIL pregnancy, got told off and took it down. She was a bit miffed but I think she was embarrassed shed upset SIL so don't be surprised if whoever it was that outed you makes a but of a fuss!

badb · 12/08/2015 14:35

Thanks youcant. I asked her to delete the comment, which she did immediately. She didn't seem put out or anything. Phew!

Hope all is well with you hags. It's a beautiful day here, I'm working in the garden.

Thanks bugs. You were right - the difference from the 12 week to this scan was unbelievable! We could see the baby wriggling around the place like a mad thing. It was amazing. I think Mr Badb might have had a tear in his eye Wink
