Thank you luffly hags for the fish and the words of wisdom. Feeling better about things today. We went for the harmony bloods and scan this afternoon and feel pretty reassured by what they saw. Edwards and Patau's are hopefully ruled out because of my hcg profile, and she did a very detailed scan looking for downs markers, and found none. She also checked the placenta for growth issues and while the baby is a little on the small side, saw no cause for concern. So fingers crossed the bloods will come back clear. Even if not, we will most likely continue with the pregnancy and be prepared for the outcome. And we reckon we are having a girl! Will find out for sure when the results come back.

How are you both doing? And any lurking CRESH?

Fabuluce · 22/07/2015 04:07

That sounds positive Fizz - keeping everything crossed for you here in Fabville.

All ok here - had a physio appointment yesterday to confirm my Pelvic Girdle Pain and the reason for my waddle so have some tips on how to deal with it and stop it getting worse now which is good. No long walks for me until post birth sadly. I'm currently having an overnight sleepover at the sleep clinic which is proving a challenge (hence typing at 4am). Hopefully they'll be able to help with my sleep deprivation as I'm bloody knackered! Baby is fine and kicking away though so I don't feel lonely. It's such a cool feeling Hags, I can't wait for you to get it too. It's very reassuring Smile

badb · 22/07/2015 12:52

That all sounds really reassuring, fizz. Really glad to hear it. The wait will be tough, I know, but you'll get through it.

fab, glad you are getting help re sleeping and pelvis! Hopefully the sleep clinic might sort you out.

No news here. Three weeks till next appointment. Feeling podgy, but not particularly pregnant. Can't wait for the kicks - though that's ages away, I know. It must be so reassuring. 14+4 today. It's dragging.

I told my boss last week - although she's not really my 'boss', exactly. Anyway, she was really supportive, and gave me some advice about telling my other sort of boss (the head of the department I moonlight in), who is generally known for being less supportive and kind of a bitch. Anyway, I told her too the other day. She was sweet as pie to my face. About a half an hour after I told her, two people in that department emailed to say congratulations - she had literally told everyone on the corridor immediately after I left her office. I mean, I know she has to replace me when I'm on maternity leave, but it wouldn't have been with any of those people, and it didn't have to be arranged right that minute anyway. I don't mind people knowing now, but it seemed a bit...weird.

Nooooo bugs, how did that happen so quickly? Will you be going back full time?

Midwife appt today to follow up on the initial results. Didn't really give us much extra info on the downs risk, but said that the low Papp-a means I need monitoring regardless. Consultant appt on weds to see if they recommend any treatment (low dose aspirin) and then extra scans etc. So a little bit worrying but don't think it is a very significant problem at the moment. Blardy hell I thought this shit got easier in the 2nd trimester!

CantCookWontClean · 25/07/2015 10:29

Bugs that sucks!
I currently have a little man fast asleep on me starting to teeth and not feeding particularly well at alla. Talk about a whole world of worry!

katandkits · 25/07/2015 11:10

Rejoining the thread, popping in to say congratulations :)

Grin Grin hello newest CRESH and huuuuge congratulations StarBrewCake

fizz just caught up on all your stuff. Fuck what a heartache you poor thing. At least you got scanned etc nice and fast, hopefully it'll all be fine. Rest and Cake for you too.

ALittleFaith · 25/07/2015 14:05

Also checking in to say hello to the PESH and new Mum!

We are still in debate about whether we go for #2 baby. Now is not the time though. Maybe next year...

eurochick · 25/07/2015 20:54

The worry never ends but it is so worth it.

Hurrah for the newest CRESH!

PS - Chicklette has been showing teething signs since she was 5 months old. She was one last week and is still toothless. It can be a looooooooooooooooooooong road. I recommend abusol and calopol or baby ibuprofen. x

Fabuluce · 25/07/2015 21:55

Yay, welcome back and congratulations on your amazing win!! You made it! SmileSmileSmile

CantCookWontClean · 25/07/2015 22:56

It's been a long old road that for sure. .. but worth it all now we've crossed the finish line!

Euro I have invested in all of the above and they are helping. Little man is not grouchy at all, still full of smiles and giggles, even now as I type he's drifting off to sleep in his moses basket smiling to himself.

ALittleFaith · 26/07/2015 09:44

It's very dusty in here, isn't it?! I'm so happy for you Can't. You won your baybee! We found the teething granules helpful could be placebo or the fact they are sugary

Cookie?

FizzyFeet · 28/07/2015 18:35

Congratulations, youcant! Awesome news!

Relief all round here - harmony tests have come back and all is fine. And sex is confirmed as female! Now to stop the sea of pink that will be coming our way from the ILs - all boys on that side of the family. Consultant appt tomorrow to discuss low Papp-a results. Hmmm.

Still can't shift this headache - paracetemol not really helping any more. Should I be worried do you think?

What a relief Fizz and congrats on your little girl!

I had a lot of headaches at the beginning but I get a lot anyway and find that paracetamol very rarely works unfortunately so tend to not bother. They seem to be mostly tension headaches at the front of my forehead and the best thing is to massage the knobbly lumps on the back of my head as hard as possible for as long as possible. It hurts like buggery but is somehow satisfying too. Definitely mention it though to be on the safe side.

Oh bugs that's awful. Your poor friend. Can you point her towards the BESH? Fwiw we also had low odds of success - not sure of the exact number, but lower than the 20ish % try quote for "normal" cycles. There is always hope.
