20th JSing GRADS thread - our chat's still filthy, just not in front of the baby...

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 20th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 37th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Ooh, good scan news, Lauren. If he misbehaves again put your foot down and insist on being seen. Arm yourself with the CtK and Royal College guidelines (search for green top guidelines, reduced foetal movements) if they kick up a stink. You're protecting your baby, and their litigation fund and you should never be fobbed off.

Ah Zyla that's annoying. No chance of a fancy placenta scan of a weekend though, I'd imagine.

How are the newborn cuddles Wil?

laurenamium · 19/01/2015 20:14

Ah thanks chat

DulcetMoans · 19/01/2015 20:49

Shock Did you make a baby wil?! Great news! Come back, tell us all!

Also surprised by grapefruits lil, who knew?!

deeplybaffled · 19/01/2015 21:57

Congratulations, wil - hope everything is well!
thanks for all the advice about the booking in appt -rang the hospital today and asked if I should have a booking in appt before the scan at 12 weeks and they said that they'd do it all that day. Guessing that it could be quite a long appointment?

TheBooMonster · 19/01/2015 22:40

blimey deeply yea, it will be quite long, my booking in took a good 40 minutes, the scan didn't take that long but they also had to do bloods and there's the waiting round. I'd allow a couple of hours at least for your scan and booking in, more if you're going to see a consultant too

there is a baby event on in Morrison's viroids.

Nessalina · 20/01/2015 02:20

Hey there viroids, just checking in on new thread though I missed most of the last one! Grin
Glad to see lots of newbies!!!
The Just Mumming thread has finally started to get moving at a good pace, can't wait to see y'all over there (all in good time - you stay put for now Zyla!) xx

willywallace · 20/01/2015 02:24

Thanks everyone, quite a surprise arrival. Will post stuff to fb page. Knackered already, roommates snore like trains. Envy

DulcetMoans · 20/01/2015 07:15

Wow deeply, that will be a long appointment. When were they going to tell you that anyway?!

Right, I need to tell work today. Make me do it! I keep bottling it and I will be nearly ready to pop before I've done it at this rate!

What's she called wil? What happened? Need to know!!

Fleurchamp · 20/01/2015 07:20

Hope you got some sleep wil

dulcet I need to tell work too. I have made it such a big deal (for myself) that I am actually scared! Is it not the done thing to email? Confused

LaLa5 · 20/01/2015 07:32

How are you doing wil? Can't wait to hear details!

Popz - how are you getting on? Did we ever hear your story?

Lauren that's brilliant, what a relief for you!

Deeply that's going to be an awfully long appointment! My booking in was an hour at least. Take a pee sample.

I don't feel pregnant. Is this normal at at 15 weeks? I have a bump but I've stopped feeling sick which is great. I think I felt baby poking me the other day but haven't felt anything yesterday. Should I be concerned? I'm thinking no but got week til mw appointment where she'll use Doppler.

How's everyone? I had fitmummy class last night, it was a yoga type one. Loved it and the other people were lovely. One was a week from due date!

Am having to push at work for anything to happen about my maternity cover and risk assessments. I've had no boss for 2 years and my stand in line manager left on Friday. If I don't push they'll not bother getting cover and I'll come back to a huge mess. It made me cry yesterday, they just don't seem to care that I don't have a manager and it means everything's on me to sort out.

How did you get away with not telling work til now dulcet? I've got big bump!

Oh zyla I missed your post sorry! That's rotten you've got to stay in :( but at least they're being thorough.

OP posts:
LaLa5 · 20/01/2015 07:36

Essie how many weeks are you? I'm so sorry you're having such a miserable time of it :(. Hopefully they can find out what's wrong

DulcetMoans · 20/01/2015 07:40

Baggy clothes la! And going away last week bought me time. What did you say? I'm guessing it's just 'I'm pregnant!' but this anxiety makes me doubt it all!

Don't know if email is so much a wrong way fleur, depends on the company! If I emailed they would probably only want to come and talk about it anyway. Plus my director PA can read her emails and she's not discreet!

Fleurchamp · 20/01/2015 07:47

Hmm. Email is probably not the right thing to do, my boss who now owns the company never had children and is a bit sad about it now she's in her 50s.
We get on quite well but she is very selfish and I imagine she will want to know right now when I will be back and how I am going to organise covering my work (which is basically whatever she doesn't want to do). I doubt they will pay for cover and so the rest of the firm will have to shoulder my work - this will not go down well!
I am probably imagining it and making it out to be far worse than actually will be.

LaLa5 · 20/01/2015 07:48

No email, ask for meeting and tell in person - you might be surprised by her reaction Smile. Either way it's better to do it in person.

Asda has a baby event on, and I think Tesco one starts soon ill check the date when I get home Grin

Currently sat in the hospital waiting room for the next 2 hours for my GD tests. I hate lucozade and had to drink some really fast, it's made me feel all funny and like I'm drunk because I never drink anything fizzy let alone that full of sugar!

dulcet that will be a long appointment! Hopefully they won't leave you waiting around too much in between different people!

How are you doing zyla?

laurenamium · 20/01/2015 08:21

Sorry! deeply not dulcet!

Purplecircle · 20/01/2015 08:26

The diabetes nurse told me to ring the community midwife to get the appointment. I got her number from the doctors. When I rang I said I was anxious about MC and she's given me an appt at 8 weeks.

laurenamium · 20/01/2015 08:38

Good news purple! How many weeks are you now?

LaLa5 · 20/01/2015 08:57

What's a GD test Lauren? Is that the lucozade test?

Dulcet I just sat her down and said 'I wanted to let you know I'm pregnant' and then we had a quick chat and I left. There wasn't any fuss which was great. I think she wouldn't have appreciated it if id emailed as we get on well, but I guess every boss and workplace are different.

Purple that's brilliant, hopefully they will give you lots of support

I really want this baby to start moving soon. It's unnerving feeling nothing!

Pisghetti · 20/01/2015 09:06

The Aldi baby event starts on the 29th January for my fellow cheapskates I'll be stocking up on next size nappies (got loads of newborn size already) and hopefully bedding. I've been reading up on bedding - had to ask DP what the difference was between a top sheet and bottom sheet Blush apart from the location obvs.... It's amazing that DS has made it to his teens really!

Hope the test goes ok Lauren - don't think I'd fancy chugging Lucozade at this time either!

Good luck breaking the news Fleur and Dulcet! I know how you feel - my boss left the company when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and so my manager when it came to being time to tell them was the (new, non-UK) MD! His reaction was great though - and not what I was expecting.

Hope you get home soon Wil! One of the major plusses to choosing the birth centre near me over the hospital is no post-natal ward! Just individual rooms - bliss!

Do you have an HR department La? They should really be organising risk assessments and the like. I'm not going to be covered - but I have to come up with proposals for who will do my work when I'm gone. Can see me being super-popular this year!

DulcetMoans · 20/01/2015 09:18

Oh I won't email, that's for sure. Not least because that is a prime way to get to to be office gossip by the end of the week! Just waiting for director to come in now. Her diary is pretty full and shes out all afternoon so today might have been ambitious! Also worried because I am quite teary at the moment so if she is nice to me, which I am sure she will be, I might cry!

That will make you some friends then pis! Do they know you have nominated them?

Good news on the appointment purple, hope it offers some reassurances!

laurenamium · 20/01/2015 09:31

Yes la the lucozade one for gestational diabetes. This waiting room is so hot!

TheBooMonster · 20/01/2015 09:38

lol, I told my line manager whilst holding up a stupidly heavy mirror and she went a bit mental that it had taken me half the shift to tell her and demanded that I put the mirror down and stop lifting heavy things, then she frog marched me to the health and safety officer when I failed to follow her instructions. So I had a risk assessment done straight away pretty much. Neither of them told the store manager, so I mentioned it in passing to him like it was old news and he was somewhat taken aback! Had a few unofficial meetings with store manager once I was about 18 weeks then an official meeting to confirm that we'd discussed me being a BFPL and agreed a department change so I was in less danger less of a burden. We had another meeting this month where we confirmed my maternity leave and organised the using up of my holiday etc and he got it down minuted that I was the only person in the entire company crazy enough to request kit days... all in all face to face is far easier, especially as every time I've given admin / management a letter it's taken forever for them to acknowledge receipt of it, I expect it would be the same with email...

Fleurchamp · 20/01/2015 10:11

Ok so I am seeing my boss at 5pm.

Did you go into details about when to start leave etc? My boss will probably want to know as we cover each other's annual leave.

I know she will then hand over to her office manager who is CLUELESS about employment law. She won't know about accruing holiday, including bank holidays and will assume that I just lose them. She is also childless and quite harsh on anyone with children.

I don't want to seem grabby but as we only get statutory pay I want to make sure I get everything I am entitled to.
