I had a crib before but my 2 didn't like it much- always bashed their hands on the bars or got them stuck through. I sold it because I thought we couldn't have any more babies, along with loads of other things!
I think my friend is giving us a
Moses basket she is finished with, and then we'll get a cot because it will fit better in our room and the tiny nursery.

I think I'm feeling little movements now which is a relief- little prods and kicks. Not at all strong though. I'm 17+3.

Just thinking about whoever was asking about sleeping in pram carrycots - lots of them state they're not suitable for overnight sleeping, though I always put my baby down in them for daytime naps downstairs.

AnythingNotEverything · 11/01/2015 20:13

Sunbathing I'd see your GP about that. They'll know more than the sonographer. And let them know about your MW too!

katbags · 11/01/2015 20:19

Evening everyone!

Emz I had a very similar also food-related meltdown at DH! He dared - dared - to drop some bacon on the throw we keep on our sofa when we were having breakfast. I went ballistic! Decided flagrant disregard for cured meat etiquette equalled end of the world. Weeping, ugly weeping ensued. And obviously bacongate opened the floodgates and every worry I'd had about anything came out in fugly hiccupy gasps.

Obviously I worked out in about 3 seconds I was being a loon. But I figure as long as there is some kind of comedy angle it makes a good story for once the preg madness is behind us Blush

JennyOfOldstones · 11/01/2015 20:43

I had a meltdown two days before my 12 week scan because I had to park 1 minute up the road as there were no spaces right outside my house! DP tells everyone about it as evidence of my insanity.

On an unrelated note I just got back from seeing my friend's newborn. She was so tiny and perfect. Can't believe I will have one of my own soon!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 11/01/2015 20:45

Katbags- bacongate! Grin love it. I've yet to have a meltdown but one could be on the offing purely at the length of time hubs has spent on his pc this weekend. I've looked at bathroom suites, nursery wardrobes and our finances/budget on my own when I could have done with his input. Granted, we work well together cos I'm a planner to the nth degree and he keeps me planted in the present BUT I can see hormones making this a thing soon. Grin

Emz - chin up. Most of my symptoms have slowly disappeared. Hopefully you're midwife will reassure you tomorrow and you don't have a pants one.

I've just asked DH if I've had any major meltdowns over something ridiculous. Apparently no, I'm just snappy Hmm

Oh I did say that I was leaving him a few weeks back because he woke me up for work. There is that. I got bacon on the way there though so t could be worse Grin

cuphat · 11/01/2015 21:24

Yes, depending on what carrycot you choose a lot do state they're not suitable for overnight sleeping. Icandy ones are fine for overnight sleeping though. However, we just used ours as a travel cot when away and for daytime naps downstairs (it's handy to have something upstairs and downstairs. Although moses baskets have handles they should never be carried while baby is sleeping).

It's a shame your midwife isn't approachable, sunbathing. Do you have a general phone number for the community midwives or antenatal clinic midwives? As I called that when I was really bad with PGP and they confirmed that was what I had and advised me on the next step. The chances are you'll speak to someone different.

My notes say not to see the GP for pregnancy related stuff after 17 weeks.

My daughter outgrew her M&P moses basket at 8 weeks!

My first baby brain moment was today. I put DD's wellies on her. Thought they looked a bit weird. Checked they were on the right feet. Yup. We walked all the way from the car to the park before hubby cracked up and said her wellies were on the wrong feet. Oh dear. At least she didn't complain?

traceybaybee · 11/01/2015 22:02

Thank you pregnant and sunbathing i hope so too its horrible being ill

cuphat · 11/01/2015 22:07

Good plan sunbathing Grin . My surgery also only has one midwife (she's only there for two half days a week) but the number is for somewhere else where there's a team of community midwives.

Zaccheryquack · 11/01/2015 22:29

Just caught up! Dh banned me from screens after 8pm as horrible pregnancy insomnia so even worse than normal at keeping up to date. Got a reprieve tonight as he was watching 24 and I get too stressed if I concentrate so need my iPad to distract me!

Nodding along to all less hairy, less greasy haired than normal, emotionally unstable mums to be! Personal highlight of the week was bursting into tears at dd's weekly jiggy Wrigglers class as I was having palpitations about dd starting nursery. My friend I was with was very kind about it but did mention more than once that pregnancy makes you over emotional (dd is 2.5 so definitely old enough for a bit of pre-school!). Made a few silly mistakes at work that I think may be pregnancy related - I have become really forgetful!!

Pas also tried very hard to be gender neutral and have got a dd who complains bitterly if I put her in an outfit that is hot twirly enough!!

jazzyjenbo · 11/01/2015 22:48

Evening all!
I can't remember all the names so here goes...

Re buying things: i have a moses basket for downstairs and a crib for our room, however ds went straight into his cotbed in his own room on night 1.... Only reason dd didnt was because we had just sold our house and used the nursery as a store room so she stayed in her moses until 7 mths (she was and still is very small, wear tiny baby until 3 mths).. Now 2.5 and wears 12-18 mth clothes.

Re pram: lie flat carrycot is recommended, however they can be very bulky and when i had ds i wouldnt of fitted the pram frame and a carrycot in the boot, i opted for a graco basic travel system (carseat and buggy) which lasted him until 21 mths when i bought a double for ds and dd.
I then did buy a travel system with carrycot, carseat and buggy for dd aswell as the double (we had a ppl carrier by then)
I think one if the vitals is that you buy the isofix base that fits into your car to make getting carseat in and out easy and no messing with the belt!! (U can buy secondhand on ebay or some makes are fairly cheap)

Re mood swings: i have had afew pregnancy hormone blow outs... Mainly at dh but afew times the kids have been doing my head in. Also had quiet afew crys... Usually watching tv, thinking about when my kids were born and earlier got abit teary thinking about my scan tomorrow and how i'll feel if they say boy and then how will i feel if they say girl.... When they told me dd was a girl i burst out crying!!!!

Re back pain: you could have an anterior placenta forcing baby into your back more, or it could just be lying funny, even this early they can have a preference on how they lie!

Sorry if i've missed nethin, thats all i can remember atm.... Scan is at 9:50 tomorrow... Got a feeling it will be another boy for our vast amount of boys on here!

jazzy jealous at your one sleep til your scan, I have 3 sleeps. So glad we booked private scan, waiting til 10th feb would have been torture.

No major pregnancy meltdowns yet, altho my OH did call me "chunky pops" earlier, which didn't go down terribly well.

traceybaybee · 11/01/2015 23:27

Ahh well mr lucozade didnt quite like me after all... lol. jazzy all the best to you and bump for your scan tomorrow Flowers

Tranquilitybaby · 11/01/2015 23:27

Sunbathing that sounds like sciatica I'm afraid, I get it too.

Good luck for your scan jazzy and those with appointments next week x

Phryn · 12/01/2015 06:55

Good luck jazzy with the scan.

Re the hair thing - mine isn't getting as greasy either. I'm usually a have to wash it every other day person but having got up early this morning to do so - I'm thinking I can leave it oh the excitement, wish I'd decided this last night and had more time in bed

My spotty chin, the worst spots I have ever had including adolescence seems to finally be easing off. Really hope that change sticks and I can get rid of the nasty red marks that have been left!

Happy Monday to all Smile
