Such a wonderful service we have, we are so lucky in the main aren't we. Glad you have lots of lovely pics. You're clearly in great hands.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 21/01/2015 20:34

I absolutely agree that for the most part the NHS is brilliant. So glad you have been seen quickly and plans put in place - of course it will be a worrying time but as others have said, how wonderful to have had it picked up at this point and to have that immediate support organised to be on hand later when you need it.

Massive hugs, though. It's not news anyone would want.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 21/01/2015 20:57

Dh has been on the phone to his mum for 35 minutes. I've just had to remind him to tell her that our scan was ok Confused

Kyz · 21/01/2015 21:56

Evening everyone! Fleeting visit as i've had a busy day and i'm knackered!

sorry to hear some of you are suffering from heartburn :( it's not got me yet but it did last time so i'm waiting for it!

glad scan went well pas that's great :D

hope your scan goes well tomorrow croon

hi and welcome Rabid and waves to ellstor :)

gosh buba that must be really difficult to take in, I can't imagine how you must be feeling. I am pleased you'll be well looked after and are in safe hands. Hopefully you can still enjoy your pregnancy knowing there are things in place for when your little one is born :) Hope you have a lovely relaxing time away, and it's fantastic that you had such a high level of care with the NHS, really positive to hear! Fab that everything else is perfect, too :D

Chookford · 21/01/2015 22:17

Have a fab weekend away buba you really deserve it! And it's great news everything else with baby is fine.. As others have said it will be fixed in no time and it will be like this was a dream x

htf2 · 21/01/2015 22:21

Oh Dear buba absolutely not what you wanted to hear, but thank goodness they picked it up, and they sound very thorough. I am reassured by all these stories of the NHS delivering when they are needed and hope you are too. If you don't know many people in London remember there must be a couple of us here who will be lounging around on mat leave baking and knitting productively watching marathons of bad tv dramas and eating icecream - certainly I will be as I think we are due similar times (i'm 5th June).

Good luck for your scan croon! I'm a bit inspired by your mat leave plan - I am mostly planning to finish 4 weeks before, then I think what if baby is a week late, I shouldn't be hanging around for 5 weeks when I could have that extra week with him at the end... then I hear your plan and think 2 months off beforehand sounds amazing! I will have some paid leave again before starting work up, I think it will be really nice to get a paycheck just before going back, especially if I don't fit back into my work clothes yet :)

We are car and furniture shopping, wish it was more fun! It is so hard to decide what car to get that is big enough to fit baby seats and prams and take us on holidays but small enough for me to drive around London/ England without bouncing off everything I see and park in our street. We are looking at second hand cars.

bubalou · 21/01/2015 22:33

Thank you all.

I am almost certain to have a May baby now but I will be staying on this thread if that's ok. Smile

I will be getting scanned in London every 4-6 weeks by the specialists and more often closer to the time.

When they know more they will be putting a plan in place to induce me at the chelsea - Westminster hospital around 37-38 weeks as they don't want to risk me going into labour with him locally.

This is based on my DS1 being born a week early and in 4 hours. I am happy with this as I was going to have to have him at our local hospital and then they would take him straight away from me and transfer him to London - 2 hour journey away.

This way they will still take him straight away but to the hospital that is 5 mins away from mine.

Small blessings. Smile

sparkle17 · 21/01/2015 22:40

Gosh bubalou you are so strong and brave. Really glad you have had good advice and support today. I think having a plan helps. I hope you and your family have a great time at centre parcs.

PregnantAndEngaged · 21/01/2015 22:41

Aww Bubalou... that is a lot to take in, but I'm really pleased you're both getting the right support :) I'm just so glad for you that they picked this up now rather than when your little one is here. x

excitedbutsick · 21/01/2015 22:51

Buba sorry to hear your news today, but please be reassured by the plan that has been put in place for him and yourself. As others have said it seems like there are a few of us in London as well. My DH nephew was born with transposition of the great arteries and 17 years later is doing fantastically well and about to make the transition from care at Great Ormond Street to adult care.

bubalou · 21/01/2015 23:16

Thanks for all positivity. I feel bad for stealing thread focus.

Really need to wake up tomorrow and accept this isn't a bad dream and to acknowledge the reality.

I have no doubt I will be up and down in the coming months and it looks like 2015 is going to be a very hard year but hopefully I will have my happy healthy little boy at the end of it. Smile

I feel very fortunate this has been picked up now and that we can prepare. As I said he's perfect in every other way so we're lucky as he could have had other problems that are related to this.

Off to sleep now as absolutely shattered after no sleep due to worry and hours of being prodded plus sucky London trains and tubes!

Night ladies. Smile

Hope you got some sleep buba. X

Good luck scan ladies today - is croon and MrsE? Happy birthday MrsE too.

Have had a bit of a wobble the last few days as I haven't felt any flutterings. Felt them last night and this morning so happier now, hurry up 20 week scan!

bubalou · 22/01/2015 07:52

Morning all. Smile

Slept like I was in a coma last night - bloody ache all over today from travelling and being prodded yesterday and sitting on stupid uncomfortable chairs.

However got loads to do and get to pack for center parcs - yay! We've booked a big game lodge with 4 bedrooms, sauna and games room etc as xmas present for my family who are all coming. I love it.
We've done it the past 2 years and it will be a welcome distraction.

Smile
bubalou · 22/01/2015 07:52

Good luck for scans today! Smile

ots · 22/01/2015 08:05

Bub, it sounds like you are being very positive, and so glad the team were reassuring. As others have said, so great that it was picked up now so you will have specialists waiting when he's born. Thinking of you Flowers

Good luck for scans today, and happy birthday MrsE Cake

Baby has started to have a pattern of regular movement now, its so lovely, and DH and DS have both felt her now. DS was so shocked and said "naughty baby kicks me!!". Is it too early for me to be counting the kicks? I can't remember from last time and can't find a definite answer from Google!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 22/01/2015 08:30

Bubalou - Enjoy your Centre Parcs trip. Irregardless of the additional stress you've got, a break at this time of year perks up a dull January. You're not "stealing the focus" in any way, shape or form. May sound kind of cheesy, but that sort of news is exactly what these threads are here for. We're here to listen (or read Grin ), if nothing else. I've told people thoughts on here that people in real life don't know.

htf - Re your point to Croon on her mat leave. That's exactly my dilemma. My boss says I can kind of do what I like (he's new and keen to keep me sweet so I come back I think) but there's an idiot I do work with who will send my stress levels through the roof and at 35+ weeks, I can see leaving 4 weeks early being very tempting.

There's people feeling kicks and prods on here and its making me jealous (read that as anxious). I know I'm only 18+5 and "every pregnancy is different" but my bump seems to have shrank over the past few days. I'm sure its nothing and its probably just that I've not loaded up on so many carbs. Grin

Good luck scan-ees today. I also hope people have a generally nice Thursday. Flowers

Hope scans go well today!

Buba, they will move you over there as soon as you're ready to go as well. Enjoy the break at Center Parcs.

Tori 9 weeks?? There will be no-one left on the shop floor!

Sure I felt an 'outside kick' last night Grin My bump has shrunk as well, it's definitely a less bloat, more baby situation here though! Think you're expecting a regular pattern by 24 weeks (bit later in a first pregnancy), Count the Kicks is my go-to reference for kicking.

jazzyjenbo · 22/01/2015 08:44

Good luck with todays scans and happy birthday mrsE.
Bub - enjoy the centre parcs planning and holiday, i'm officially May but am on this thread alot more so stay put please Grin
Re kicks - i think its generally to early to 'count the kicks'... From around 20 weeks you should start noticing a wake/sleep pattern and thats what builds up to the counting. I ordered one of the bracelets the other day as i have 2 friends who both had late still births in the last year.
18 weeks is still early for big movement, i felt the odd flutter at around 13 weeks and then nothing else until 18-19 weeks... Since 20 weeks the movement is much more noticeable and my bump has appeared this week. At the scan my baby was curled into my back hence lack of bump!

Welcome Rabid and Ellstor

Happy birthday mrsE

Hope you have a lovely time in Centre Parcs Bubalou

I'm treating my fiance for his birthday, so I'm taking him out to London tomorrow. We're going to have a lovely lunch and beers (well he'll be on the beer) in a traditional pub, then we're planning to go shopping but Chris wants to go to Harrods in particular because we want to get a harrods bear for the baby's room. In the evening we're going to Ice Bar and their restaurant.. we got given a £100 voucher when we got engaged but yet to use it so thought why not tie it in to Chris's birthday :) Will be sucky not to have any of their delicious alcoholic cocktails, but they do have a few choices of mocktails I can have.

fortywinx · 22/01/2015 09:11

Sorry the news wasn't the best buba, but as everyone else has said, at least they have picked it up early and are putting in what sounds like an excellent care plan. Glad you're staying as positive as you can. Hope you have a lovely weekend away!

Happy Birthday MrsE !

Good luck to anyone having scans today! I can't wait for mine tomorrow! :)

Chookford · 22/01/2015 09:32
