PS - I love typos, having fun imagining how one's lust gets longer Grin Ta mini
And bangles , mine keeps getting hiccups too but tends to go in phases. In fact I got worried the other day as it hadn't happened for a few days then suddenly, right when I was all bloated and icky feeling after dinner it started popping away. Bless the little blighters Grin

Minichuch · 12/01/2015 11:31

Oh geeky Blush lust gets longer with being pg and dh working shifts Wink lol plus my to do LIST also get longer - note to self read what put before posting esp when typing on phone

PeppermintInfusion · 12/01/2015 11:47

I think I got about 2 hours sleep last night, was going to work from home then realised I had a meeting this afternoon Confused early to bed for me tonight!

I did actually start packing my hospital bag last night, but it doesn't look like there's very much in it at the minute so I must be forgetting a lot!

I've also started my yoga moves in earnest to try to get the bambino to turn, as pretty sure he is still head up. Think this is partly why I can't sleep, thinking about the potential section and earlier due date as a result.

donkir · 12/01/2015 12:16

Today is going tone another long day. Was up between 3 and 5. Thought I'd get nice easy day with the kids I nanny for. One at school and the other in a good mood. I normally get a rest when lo is in bed. Not today the eldest has been sent home from school and after a trip to the doctors he's got croup. No rest for me for a few days.
My whole pelvis is playing up today. Feels like I've had a weekend of fun Wink it's that achey. If only.

Welcome Mild. I'm a 2nd time mum but ds is 12 so feel like I'm starting from scratch. We have no nursery until we move and have just about enough room for the crib. HV won't like it as its too close to radiator but tough. I've only got 4 crib sheets. 2 for pram and 2 for crib. I hope I don't have a sicky baby.

BanglesSpangles · 12/01/2015 12:28

thanks geeky- i must step away from google occasionally!

Is there any way of telling if little one is breech? Feeling a lot tighter at the top of my bump last few days, kicks and/or punches are on either side of bump, above belly button.

Curious, as I read he's less likely to spontaneously turn at later stages?

mildatheart · 12/01/2015 12:39

You are making me feel so much better! Have ordered bed nest for upstairs and borrowed a Moses basket for downstairs. Just need sheets but thanks for the Asda tip. They look good.
I was encouraged by my consultant to go on maternity leave at Christmas hols ( I'm a secondary teacher). So glad I did as I'm knackered all the time. I can't imagine having to plan, mark, teach and lead my department for another week. I'm in awe of those of you keeping on going.
My to do lust is being usurped by Homes under the Hammer. More appealing than hoovering!

GeekyHybrid · 12/01/2015 12:41

Just laughed at myself mini re typos. I thanked Memphis for the tips on Asia instead of the intended Asda. Yep. Using the phone / autocorrect is a friggin pain.
I'm actually feeling quite ill - I've spent the whole morning being domestic, 2 lots of dishes, ironing, cleaned kitchen including stove top, tidied etc.. Haven't hovered but wth, that's more than enough. Just sat down waiting for the MW to arrive. Then it may be nap time :-D

GeekyHybrid · 12/01/2015 12:47

frenetic my bump feels way tighter at the top as that's where it's (probably fat!) bum is! And thus when it kicks / stretches the feet often seem to pop out the top just under or in my ribs! I saw it on the scan, it's cos its knees are tucked below the belly button and legs up. Arms similarly get aimed somewhere in the middle though often diagonally from where a foot is going when it's stretching!!

PeppermintInfusion · 12/01/2015 12:50

Frenetic, take a look on spinning babies website. They have a guide how to tell the baby's position from the kicks and feeling for the head etc. If you're breech you get more low down/side kicks and the head will put pressure on the diaphragm. I can definitely feel the head by feeling my belly and before there was more pressure on my cervix from the head.

freneticfox · 12/01/2015 12:53

I'll find out for sure on Friday, seeing MW.

I can't feel anything firm or round down low, but then again my understanding of what's happening in my uterus is fairly minimal! He's very wriggly, but not feeling many jabs or kicks. Still worried he's gonna be a bruiser!

JacktheLab · 12/01/2015 12:55

Hello Mild,

I'm a gestational diabetic, got a c section for two weeks today.

Everyone else is right, all you really need are some clothes, nappies and a moses basket for them to sleep in, everything else can be bought later on.

I have done no painting of any nurseries, poor little madam will have to go into her brother's scruffy room when she is big enough!

I've had my aunt over this morning to visit, she isnt impressed with the state of the house, but hah I don't care, having much more fun knitting ;)

Frenetic, try some diabetic chocolate - bloody hell, my poor guts last night, serves me right for being greedy and scoffing a whole bar - have been out and bought a bar of dairy milk for my hospital bag this morning though ;)

Mimosa1 · 12/01/2015 13:18

Hi everyone,
Gosh this thread moves fast! I had a babyshower on sat, which was a complete surprise and so lovely. Cur my husband telling his sister and my cousin that he "could totally have an affair, Mimosa believes everything I tell her". Ahem. Wink

Welcome mild. Don't worry, I don't think any of us feel really ready. I don't have cot sheets either but there is still plenty of time as she will be in the Moses basket with is for the first bit.

Mimosa1 · 12/01/2015 13:19

*Cue, not cur...

freneticfox · 12/01/2015 13:27

Jack will give it a go, also been chugging prune juice (ew, seriously cannot stand the stuff).

I've come to the conclusion that our little one had tied a knot in my bowels. Only logical explanation.

Grinningcat · 12/01/2015 13:38

Thanks Geeky and Bangles. I had to come in to the office too because of a meeting. Working from home tomorrow though as I have my 34 week mw appt so at least I get to stay in bed a little longer and there is a possibility of an afternoon nap Smile.

Mild for all I've been painting, the baby's room still looks like a bomb has hit it. The only improvement is that I can push the bookcase back against the wall and we can finally buy a chest of drawers next weekend so I can wash baby clothes and have somewhere to put them when they're clean. Still need to deep clean our bedroom (you do NOT want to what I found when I knocked my lipsalve down the back of the bed last night), and rearrange the furniture so we can build the cot. We have bought everything we need now I think bar consumables, but it is all in a pile in the baby's room.

Baby was breech at least until last Thursday and I could feel the head and legs sticking up just above my belly button. Something has definitely changed though and I'm hoping he/she might have turned. I can still feel a big rounded thing near where the head was before but I am hoping imagining it is a bottom instead.

Minichuch · 12/01/2015 14:00

Mild we are same as grinning in that spare room is half painted and has been since before Xmas but still needs another coat and new carpet - dh has been working as much ot as possible - think he is in panic mode so hasn't been able to do it - we then still need to sort furniture etc - I kinda figure so long as they have somewhere safe to sleep then they ain't gonna know that room not fully decorated

Grinningcat · 12/01/2015 15:28

Quick query - when should I start taking arnica and how many tablets a day will people be taking?

donkir · 12/01/2015 15:40

Grinning the lady in H&B told me to start 2 weeks before baby is due. Start with what it says on pack and then 1 a day but as there's a risk I can deliver early I've been taking it for a week or so.
Think Memphis is the one to ask.

Memphisbelly · 12/01/2015 15:40

Grinning I am taking 3 a day at the mo they are tiny though.

Goodness me my bowels are too spontanious I literally cannot run quick enough without causing injury to myself but if I dont I will crap myself....clearly the opposite to poor frenetic. i seriously an stsrting to question if im preggers or just full of shit Blush

Been primark and got some cami vests, Superdry and spent my xmas money on a coat for when im bumpless (hope it fits then at price it cost) mum bought half of m and s for baby because he really needs more clothes Confused then I went toys r us and got ds s present from baby and mothercare to use the toilet and got some more bibs in sale

Memphisbelly · 12/01/2015 15:41

Oh mine are the arnica nelosons ones literally size of pin head

Grinningcat · 12/01/2015 15:46

Thanks. Those are the ones I got at the weekend. They are tiny. Hope they work, but certainly can't do any harm.

BanglesSpangles · 12/01/2015 16:19

Haha memphis "starting to question if im preggers or just full of shit"

I really need to get on the case of the arnica... is anyone taking any other supplements? I'm getting a bit 'panic stations' now, and feeling like I want to just take everything I can!

and another question that's worrying me (Blush)- baby bedrooms- OK, here's my conundrum:
We bought a cot, chest of drawers and wardrobe, and have now discovered that the only way we'll be able to squeeze it all into the tiny bedroom is for the cot to have one end against the radiator (which is under the window).

The ends of the cot are completely solid, so no risk of a small person sticking an arm through and burning themselves, and I was thinking we could perhaps turn the radiator off at night- Will this be a problem? I keep reading stuff about not putting cots next to radiators and am panicking!

sandulacek · 12/01/2015 16:25

Hi all

mild as others said as long as baby has somewhere to sleep and has some clothes. I'm FTM and should be panicking but somehow taking it easy as I go by the above advice. Baby's furniture has been delivered today but have to move out DH office and reconfigure the spare bedroom...with few busy weekends planned let's see if we can manage before she arrives!

oh do I need a fitted sheet for the pram??

we had our MRI finally on Saturday, LO was well behaved so only took about 10 mins. In 2 minds if I should chase the result, our next appt with the consultant is not till 28th. I'm an optimist and this should just confirm her brain is fine and wasn't affected.

Just had my hubby emailing me that he booked a restaurant for our first anniversary...had me nearly in tears...so hormonal these days.

donkir · 12/01/2015 16:35

Bangles I'm just taking arnica and my usual pre natal vitamins that I've continued to take throughout.

As for radiator when I had ds his cot was next to the radiator and I just turned it off in his room. His room was quite warm though as was next to the airing cupboard and he had the heating pipes to bathroom running under his floor boards.
I think by the time lo is in his own room you won't need heating on in there anyway and by next winter you'll be so confident you can adjust his sleeping layers with no trouble.
