BanglesSpangles · 22/01/2015 09:44

hugs for you why, but glad DS is on the road to recovery

D'ya think they'd look at early induction? Three weeks of agony and sleeplessness sounds like such a long time to wait

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 22/01/2015 10:32

Congratulations Memphis! Flowers

bangles I'm having a c section at 39weeks (10th Feb). TBH if I'd got to wait for an indefinite date I think I'd have had a complete mental breakdown by now. They don't do cs prior to 39weeks unless there's a particular medical reason to or you go into natural labour, as baby is more likely to experience breathing problems. I cannot labour naturally this time for a huge list of reasons. If it wasn't for the potential breathing problems of doing a c section early I'd be begging. I really would.

Bangonthedoor · 22/01/2015 10:34

Aww congratulations memphis! Such a cute name Smile hope all is going well for you Thanks

Some sort of push notification would be handy wouldn't it bangles! Things are moving so fast now Grin

Feeling rather emosh today. Had a bit of a teary breakdown last night. I completely over reacted when DP opened my bottle of wine which I had been saving for when i can have a drink again. He was like "oh but I'll buy you another one"...que me shouting "I don't want another one I wanted that one!" Blush Followed by floods of tears crying about how tired I am. Thankfully DD slept all night and DP didn't disturb me that much so I slept quite well. Just feeling very fed up now! As we all are Sad

But got my presentation scan booked for tomorrow at 11:20 am Smile

Bangonthedoor · 22/01/2015 10:35

I've got nothing booked bangles Smile

Honeybird · 22/01/2015 10:38

Amazing what can happen, you labour for hours and hours getting nowhere, decide to give the whole thing up, and then bam 8 cm in 40 mins! Not quite as dramatic but I did 5cm in 30 mins last time. An excellent argument for not letting them wheel you in for a cesarean purely due to failure to progress.

freneticfox · 22/01/2015 10:41

Congratulations Memphis, what an adorable name! X

BanglesSpangles · 22/01/2015 10:50

Sad in that case why i have nothing but Cake and Flowers for you- hope the next few weeks aren't as hideous as they have been

honey did you say you got stuck at 5cm for 5 hours too? Did you get pushed to have something to speed things along, or was everyone happy for you to stay at 5cm for all that time?

Oh and mini on my (extensive) readings about coccyx injury, i found out that it was totally 'a thing' for your coccyx to hurt in the later stages of pregnancy- www.nhs.uk/Conditions/coccydinia/Pages/Causes.aspx

Ice, heat and if you have to sit, either get both feet on the floor and balance on the edge of the chair, or alternate between bum cheeks, is my advice to you!

Congratulations memphis, Donnie is a cutie Thanks Thanks

I've got the fear of early arrival going here, running laundry, packing (and repacking) hospital bag. Moses basket is now in our room with a clean sheet on the mattress and blankets at the ready. But can I find my summer dressing gown for said hospital bag?! Or the baby hat, 1st baby thing we bought, on honeymoon?! Have realised it was the only hat too Confused Going to do some decorating to distract myself.

Surf25 · 22/01/2015 11:15

Congrats memphis and welcome to the world Donnie! Lovely news! Glad your dh made it! Enjoy these special times Flowers

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 22/01/2015 11:20

mini try and get a wedge cushion with coccyx cut out - you can get them from disability shops and I think Amazon and Argos might possibly have them. They sit you in a good position for hips and take pressure off your coccyx, so should vastly help with pain. (I have a bad coccyx injury from fall on stairs 2 years ago - one of those cushion was the only way I could sit for 3months after the fall).

purpleteapig · 22/01/2015 11:20

Huge congratulations Memphis & lovely name too!

mildatheart · 22/01/2015 11:48

Congratulations Memohis and what a gorgeous name!
All these late stage pains are agonising aren't they?
I can't wait till Wednesday now when I meet my circus strongman. Hopefully allowed home today. Am off the insulin drip so went for a little walk which I really enjoyed after being virtually bed bound for 2 and a half days.

BanglesSpangles · 22/01/2015 11:57

loving the strongman image mild - hope you've got your guy a little leotard :D

bangles yes I was 5cm at exams at 2pm and again at 7.20pm. The midwife popped my waters during that exam and by 7.45 I was pushing which they didn't quite believe and advised against. Not a lot you can do to stop pushing though if that's what your body is telling you, I found. However I was then pushing until 10.10pm when she was born.

Surprisingly they didn't pressure me to consider options or anything when I was stuck for so long, I suppose because they only found out at the exam at 7.20 and it was soon clear that breaking the waters had done something. It was during the pushing for over 2 hours that they started to get antsy and threatened to ventouse. My limit was set for 10pm to get the job done by myself. Ob walked in at 10pm, saw what point I was at, and said goodbye. I shouted after him 'come back, help me' to much general merriment among midwives. Next push or two she was out.

Turns out she had her arms up near her head hindering her exit. But no tears!

BanglesSpangles · 22/01/2015 12:20

'come back, help me'

hahaha- brilliant!

I'm currently worrying that i'll be coerced into some kind of intervention that i don't want, but im not going to be in control enough to refuse, so good to hear other peoples' experiences!

OP posts:
sandulacek · 22/01/2015 12:34

Bangles maybe have a discussion with your dh about the interventions so that he can look after you when you might not be able to.

BanglesSpangles · 22/01/2015 12:38

he's well briefed, but I think we're both a bit worried that we're going to be bowled over by the might of the medical professionals!!
