Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WhyOWhyWouldYou · 20/01/2015 22:21

Cross post with Memphis - sorry I should have refreshed first.

The thing is Memphis whilst sick children shouldn't be there ones with bad colds are (and I really think toddler group colds are the worst).

Memphisbelly · 20/01/2015 22:27

It wouldn't phase taking a newborn to a group I will be taking the baby into a classroom of 76 kids probably as early as monday all being well on school run as ds has too be taken into his class. all of those kids will want a peekGrin Grin

GeekyHybrid · 20/01/2015 22:33

Congratulations Amy, hope you and Oscar get home soon, sounds like a nice quick birth!

Went to active and water birth workshop this evening, very interesting and a lot more hands on than the general classes. I just hope we remember most of it in a couple of weeks time!

Fingers crossed for decent sleep for everyone Thanks

Honeybird · 20/01/2015 22:33

Yes jack, why, I get out of the house asap to toddler groups or wherever, don't recommend hiding away unless that's where you're happy. But right from the start both I and tiny babies were always happier if we got out and about.

Congrats Amy, Jen, good luck Memphis and tonights! Looking forward to some birth stories!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 20/01/2015 22:44

Congrats Amy! Good luck tonight's and Memphis! So exciting! Thanks

Jack I asked my midwife the same question and she said to take them out straight away is fine but just assess the environment for example you don't really want to be I a small stuffy room with lots of people too soon but general places are fine. I think different professionals will say different things just do what you feel is right ... Sorry if that wasn't very helpfulSmile

sandulacek · 20/01/2015 23:08

Congrats amy & good luck memphis and tonight.

Also thank you ladies with the bf reassurance, having a NCT bf session next week which should help.

sandulacek · 20/01/2015 23:11

grinning can't remember if it was you who needs to do the long drive next week... I did 100 miles today (35+1) and I'm shattered. Make sure you have breaks en route or stay overnight.

trukevoli · 20/01/2015 23:59

Congratulations Jen and Amy! can't believe that they are all arriving now.

Had a bit of a confusing visit with the midwife today. My last visit was at 33 + 5 and I was measuring 34 weeks, now I am 35+6 and measuring 33 weeks. It was a different midwife but shouldn't explain such a difference in measurements.

She was going to book me in for a scan but I am already having a growth scan as the baby has a single umbilical artery. So I am currently a bit unsure of what is going on.

Trying to avoid Google.

I just did an 80 mile drive to work and it wasn't too bad, but whoever is driving put a sleeping bag, water and extra warm clothes in your car just for safety!

Good luck for tomorrow Tonights and memphis!

Bangonthedoor · 21/01/2015 01:22

So I managed to fall asleep pretty quickly tonight by 'visualising labour' long and hard...only got to my waters breaking and I was gone! Although DD is now being a rascal and asking for everything under the sun, water, tissues, Mr Cow....

tru when are you having your scan? My best friend has had a few problems re measurements. The differences at each appointment were quite significant but due to seeing lots of different midwives, it was put down to the fact that they all measure differently Smile try not to worry. They sent her for a growth scan the other day at 36 weeks just to make sure and baby is weighing around 6lbs with long legs Smile

I've been thinking the same jack re getting out and about with newborn and toddler. Staying at home simply is not an option with DD, she definitely prefers to be active and socialise. There's one group we sometimes go to which will definitely be off the cards for a while as it's in quite a small room and there's no room for prams or car seats. I'm quite sad about that as it's good for DD. A friend of mine who when she had her 4th DC, she had no choice but to take her everywhere including toddler groups, school etc from the very first week of life.

Memphisbelly · 21/01/2015 06:56

Truk try not to worry, every mw seems to measure to a different point, one day I was measuring a week ahead and 2 days later a different mw measured me 2 weeks behind, they don't normally send you for a scan until 3 weeks either way around here not sure if that varies from different counties though.

I slept ok from 1, was cleaning downstairs loo at midnight (crazy nesting loonGrin)
Will be bored stiff and on my own most of day so no doubt will be on here in a bit.

GeekyHybrid · 21/01/2015 07:31

Morning memphis Wagging finger in your direction, cleaning at midnight, so much for you resting!

Could probably do with the cleaning / nesting hormones kicking in here but then I've always been a bit slovenly Grin My mom and sister reckon I'm OCD cos at least kitchen and bathroom are clean but I think it just goes to show how I'm not actually that bad, no matter what MIL thinks, she is OCD!

Memphisbelly · 21/01/2015 07:33

geeky I am usually the same clean toilets and kitchen while rest of house goes to potGrin

PeppermintInfusion · 21/01/2015 07:38

My MW measurements have been wildly out compared to my ultrasound measurements (tracking along the 50th C). At one point she measured me 6 weeks ahead!

BanglesSpangles · 21/01/2015 08:05

Morning all, congrats Amy and Jen and gl Memphis and Tonights!

My mw has got different measurements if she's tried twice in the same appointment so im not sure there's much accuracy that can be placed on these things!

Went for clarins mum to be treatment yesterday- was lovely- full body massage, facial and got given a massive bag of lotions and potions to take away (think the therapist was in a good mood! ). If you're under 37 weeks still and looking for a treat, i recommend- it was 49 quid for an hour and a quarter- bargain compared to some i looked at!

Bother full day at work for me :(
I have a day off tomorrow! Cannot wait, going to sleep on the sofa in my pj's most of day.
Good luck to Memphis and tonight's!

Random question but I sneezed whilst weeing yesterday, my bits now feel swollen and tender? Roll on 5 weeks, sick of being pregnant!

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 21/01/2015 08:55

DS woke up throwing up. Has a really high temp. Now he's just lying curled up on sofa watching toy story. DH going to be really late to work as he's having to clean up sick, because I can't.

sandulacek · 21/01/2015 09:28

Morning,

had a really good sleep...only because I was so knackered - a block of 7 hours!

Bangles that is a good deal, especially with the goody bag as well.

Just got a text from m&p that the pram should be delivered today Grin

Grinningcat · 21/01/2015 09:33

Had my best night's sleep last night. Drat having to get up for work at 6am.

Yes it is me going on a longish journey on Monday. Probably c. 160 miles in total with a funeral etc inbetween. Thankfully I will be working from home the next day. I will try to fit in as much rest as possible. I am expecting to be tough. Roll on ML.

purpleteapig · 21/01/2015 09:47

Congratulations Amy, and good luck today Memphis - looking forward to hearing your news!

Baby's head feels really low in my pelvis today and am walking like John Wayne; whereas yesterday I was fine. I didn't realise until the mw told me recently that they can pop in and out of the 'launch' position when it's your 2nd baby...

Hope the journey goes ok Grinning and you can take lots of breaks.

Ticktick · 21/01/2015 10:30

Arghh work is stressing me out today! My boss is going to be away most of next week ( my last week) and I've still got loads of unfinished work on my to do list, plus I will be in charge of training the new lab tech starting in Monday.

I'm tired and grumpy and don't want to do any of these things!!! I had a quiet week planned clearing out my desk drawers etc, that's not going to happen now :(

BanglesSpangles · 21/01/2015 10:43

Huuurgh- I have a horrible feeling my maternity cover girl will be texting me to ask me questions while I'm away- She really does ask the most random things and doesnt quite seem able to cope with making her own decisions. Hey ho, I'm rude enough that I'm happy to ignore her once I'm on leave!

thingsarelookingup · 21/01/2015 11:57

I also agree with taking baby out straight away. I remember finding that young babies don't catch as much because they don't put random toys etc in their mouth. It's not really until they become mobile that they pick up everything going.

thingsarelookingup · 21/01/2015 11:58

I really feel for those of you still working at full pace. I am lucky in that although I am still working full time my replacement has already started and I probably only do about 2/3 of my job. I can really feel the difference.

Grinningcat · 21/01/2015 12:15

I'm with you tick. As of this morning my cover is now starting tomorrow Shock. I have so much to do with preping handover materials, admin before I leave and jsut about everyone wanting my input on stuff before I go and now I have to babysit a new person. I too was planning a quiet week next week emptying drawers and filing stuff.

Minichuch · 21/01/2015 12:47

I'm working full time but again am lucky, we've got a large project in middle east so have been moved onto that contract opposed to uk ones so work load a lot lighter - only issue is getting up in a morning to face a 40 min drive - although this morning it took 90 mins with the weather
