Morning fellow wide awakeys! Hope you've got back to sleep by now. Murphy's law - OH'S alarm not set for 4.30am today so guess what time I was awake!

longbottom · 13/01/2015 07:37

Some serious flooding this morning, the rain on the roof kept me awake most of the night.
Have just had a phone call asking me to work extra today, was too sleepy to say no Sad
Planned a shopping trip with a friend Thursday, she needs new clothes post baby and I need to get organised pre baby!!

purpleteapig · 13/01/2015 07:38

Hope you ladies have managed to get a few more hours sleep. Bangles, I'm finding natural yoghurt with a spoon of honey is keeping my heartburn at bay (and ice cream - I tell myself it's for medicinal reasons!).

Thanks for the vest suggestions all - sounds like a trip to primary is required :)

Primark even

JacktheLab · 13/01/2015 07:46

Morning all :)

it's a terrible thing, but my husband works away two days a week at the moment and that night in between is the best sleep I get all week, poor guy, he snores way too much!

Re washed all the baby clothes, both newborn and 0-3 months sizes, including the new ones I bought yesterday, might still be a little short of babygrows but we will just have to get on with it. I bought three actual little outfits, a dress, a denimy dungaree set and a tunic with trousers set. I always liked with my DS to get up and get dressed for the day at some point, slobbing around in pj's isnt for me, so we have some daytime clothes to be getting on with :)

I've got terrible indigestion at the moment, although it's eased off a bit in the last couple of days, think the bump is dropping though. I keep hoping that the baby will just decide to come at some time in the next ten days at home, I much prefer not to have to go through the build up to big things like this!

Memphisbelly · 13/01/2015 08:02

Jack I bought plain baby grows for night and bright ones for day, I am bound to be bought outfits I cannot believe I have resisted temption amd not bought outfits, my mum and step mum hsve bought a couple of jersery dungarees though. I am thankful for winter school run just throw on a snowsuit over pjs and no one will know Grin

I don't know whats going on but I am sleeping well recently, really don't want to go to work today, 38 weeks today eek! Dh is doing my nut in though he leaves at 4.15,then calls when he arrives at site (10mins ago) to check I am ok.....if I wasn't I would call! If I went overdue technically I could have 4 weeks of people asking me if im ok/had baby etc

mildatheart · 13/01/2015 08:24

Apologies if this has been answered before but should I wash all the new babygros etc before baby wears them? I have mainly sleep suits but have a real soft spot for dungarees.

Memphisbelly · 13/01/2015 08:28

Mild yes they should be washed as they put starch on them to stop creasing on shop floor/in transit

mildatheart · 13/01/2015 08:40

Thanks Memphis. Know what I'm doing today then! Hope your bump isn't too tight today.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/01/2015 09:08

Lots of people don't wash new clothes. Its a personal preference.

Last time I washed all my 0-3 but only had 1pack of newborn bodysuits and one of sleepsuits as a just in case in my hospital bag (DS was supposed to be massive but was a little skinny 7lb2oz). So when DS was born had to send people out for newborn clothes for him, obviously there was no time to wash them before he needed them so he just had to wear them.

I've not washed new clothes since and not had a problem.

JacktheLab · 13/01/2015 09:08

Yes, I'd wash them with non-bio washing powder/liquid, its so cute taking them out of the dryer and seeing how tiny they are! I have some newborn stuff, it's so small, I doubt it was worn more than maybe once or twice last time and maybe the same amount this time, I need to find a new home for them after that, such a waste otherwise.

donkir · 13/01/2015 09:10

I have no heartburn or I degradation at all during the day but as soon as I lie down to sleep my throat feels like it's on fire. Had to get up last night and take something.
I washed everything a few months back. I check them every week though to make sure they still smell fresh.
I haven't bought any outfits and have done the same as Memphis and got plain sleep suits for night time and nice patterned ones some with feet and some without for day time plus 3 cardis. I've got everything in 0-3 months though as ds was 8lb 2 and wasn't in newborn stuff longer than 2 weeks.

Minichuch · 13/01/2015 09:27

Just had 34 wk mw appointment - I feel so far behind everyone - all good so far

I've got a box of stuff to wash but mil is going to do all that for me she says - she's retired and likes to do stuff like that - its not worth arguing that I can do it myself

Heartburn has kicked in over last days - taken to having Horlicks to settle it

Has anyone else been tested for mrsa - mw said today they will do at next appointment - didn't even know they did

Bangonthedoor · 13/01/2015 09:44

Morning all Smile

Yes mini MRSA gets tested for at the 36 week appt which is just a swab around the inside of your nostrils....another perk to pregnancy Grin

Just dropped DD at nursery and I've got straight back into bed, feeling it this morning.

Just realised I haven't got a newborn snowsuit...only 0-3 months. Do people think I should get a newborn one too?

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/01/2015 09:53

Mini I think the mrsa testing is a new thing - didnt happen when i had DS in 2012. This time I was tested at 20weeks after my scan - they bloody panicked me with it, just paper cliped a note on the front of my notes, when they gave them back after the scan, saying "report to pregnancy day unit immediately" - I thought something was seriously wrong!

BanglesSpangles · 13/01/2015 10:14

morning all
I've got two bundles of baby stuff on the floor ready to go in the machine- wasn't going to bother, being inherently lazy, but was told off by my mum :D

Nobody's mentioned the MRSA testing to me either- I've got my 36 week appointment on Friday, wonder if they'll do it then

Minichuch · 13/01/2015 10:17

I haven't got any snowsuits at all - do you really need them?

Also not really bought any other size clothes other than 0-3 - simply thought if Jnr on the large size they wont fit so holding out incase we need to change them for a bigger size

Grinningcat · 13/01/2015 10:22

I haven't bought a snow suit at all, but we have the newborn snuggle pod for our icandy raspberry that will do the job. We;d have to take him/her out of the snowsuit before putting them in the car seat anyway. I have been given a fleecy all in one though so that will also do.

Had a pretty good sleep last night. Woke up 3 times but had no trouble getting back to sleep. Think I must have been totally shattered from the last few nights. I was propped up with pillows on either side though, had a hip rub from DH, and had to have the tv on to drift off to though. DH officially has a chest infection, but hopefully antibiotics will knock his cough on the head in a couple of days.

Honeybird · 13/01/2015 10:35

Bang and mini as long as you keep the kid warm somehow... In our case that did mean constant use of snowsuits for the first few months when my dd was born early November, but whatever suits you really. I found them easier than constantly wrapping and unwrapping or blankets or trying to do little jackets and things.

mildatheart · 13/01/2015 10:40

Nesting kicking in. Looks so sweet seeing the clothes on the line. I'm eyeing up a lovely green snowsuit in John Lewis which is reduced to 19 pounds.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/01/2015 10:47

Bang & mini I don't have any snowsuits because you shouldn't use them in the car seat and I mostly drive places, so for me they are not practical.

I've got cardigans and lots of woolly and fleece blankets to layer with plus pushchair has a footmuff.

Minichuch · 13/01/2015 10:53

why think that is the route that I'm taking tbh, got loads of different blankets to add layers plus silver cross car seat has apron covers which haven't really seen on other car seats for travel system so that is an additional layer

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 13/01/2015 11:00

Just remembered I need to find my rain cover for the car seat. Not seen that since DS was a baby. Hmm wonder where I put that.

Oh and on my BIL's wedding dilemma. Last night DH agreed we'll only do the ceremony and then take his brother and new wife out for a celebratory meal after they have moved into their army accommodation (hopefully they'll have that very soon after the wedding). So thanks to whoever it was who suggested that (preggy brains got the better of me).

BIL seemed to take it reasonably OK and we think it should just about be doable leaving baby with mom at her house, going straight to ceremony and back straight after.

DH would not stay there without me. He can't handle his mother when hes on his own (somehow me just being there gives him confidence against her) and if he was alone she'd be in there like a shot with her emotional blackmail and general manipulative abuse.

Giantbabymama · 13/01/2015 11:02

Hello, I am another latecomer. Takes me a while to catch on to things. Due date for baby 1 (don't know sex) is Feb 11ish but maybe early as I get chunterings from docs about occasional high blood sugar measurements and the fact that baby is measuring big. Am not officially gest diabetes but they are super cautious about it where I am (am an expat) as type 2 diabetes is rife here. Care is doctor led and done privately by insurance, do I suspect looking for reasons to intervene and prescribe meds a lot has so etching to do with that.

I am in awe of you all for how organised you are. We have quite a few things, pram, cot, clothes etc, but still need some essentials and I am certainly not in a nesting/cleaning/cooking frenzy like some of you are. Too knackered! I am trying to stay active with prenatal yoga and walking but have been experiencing the lovely pelvic pain recently.

Giantbabymama · 13/01/2015 11:03

Lol at my typos - so not do, something not etchings .
