Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 19th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 36th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

I know nothing about any of that Mini but you should definitely go for it if it's your dream. I would love to have something that i really wanted to do.

God knows what I'll do once I've had this baby!

LaLa5 · 13/01/2015 16:22

Ooh that sounds exciting mini!

I'd love to do phd in future, not been able to afford it so far or found a topic I particularly want to do it on.

We want to run a Cattery :)

RPopz · 13/01/2015 16:38

Fun disease sounds like an STI... lol Grin

GF doesn't advocate CC unless you're absolutely sure they're not hungry.

Sorry you're having a crappy time Dulce Sad

Did you get to say goodbye to your boy in the end La? Hope you're ok.

Feel better soon Essie! Good luck for scan Smile x

minimooo · 13/01/2015 16:39

yay a fellow classics geek! I did 'Classical Studies' at undergrad because I wanted to combine my study with some of the medieval history modules. Always felt like I missed out on the classical literature though.

A cattery would be awesome la! Except, I'd never want to give the cats back...

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 13/01/2015 16:40

Oh that does sound exciting moo. I was never much into history until I did our family tree with my Granny (realise that's not the same kind of history but it's a start!) went back to 1700's and it was fascinating. I am now slightly obsessed.

Yeah bit narked about the long wait for blood results, but I am feeling a teensy bit better this pm after a day doing basically sod all so hopeful that it's just a nasty virus or something, combined with a UTI.

Cattery sounds fun La, my cat loves going to our local one when we go on hols, DH calls it Catcatraz though!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 13/01/2015 17:18

La, did your boy go today? Hope you got to say goodbye and you are ok.

ChatEnOeuf · 13/01/2015 17:20

Glad you're feeling better Essie - that is a long time to wait for bloods, what on earth are they looking for?!

A cattery sounds lovely, La - let me know when you open? Ta :)

I love history, but am sadly lacking a classical education. You can tell when I'm watching university challenge.

Appt all went well, aside from the incessant rain - I can't walk in heels, so unless I turn up all my trousers, they get soaked in the rain. Bonus scan for cervical length, and all looks good in there. Happy Chat.

TheBooMonster · 13/01/2015 17:29

yikes about DD lauren

hope they get to the bottoms of what's causing the problem Essie

had the anaesthetic review today, so we have a plan of action about the order we'll try anaesthetics in and there is a red alert sticker in my hand held notes, as if they weren't tempting enough to DD...

had a rant at MiL this morning about the fact that DH seems to be going out of his way to ensure he's no more prepared for this birth than he was with the last, especially as he backed out of coming to todays appointment at the last minute, and seemingly everyone knew this was going to happen but me! she's going to come to antenatal classes with me if I book them, and I'm laying foundations for her to be in the room to look after DH which is something he was meant to have spoken to her about bloody months ago! Sort of hoping she's going to give him an earful at some point about the fact that he's being a dick as he's not listening to me...

Seriously need to book that appointment with the nurse to check for another UTI was hoping the hospital would do a sample and save me the bother today but the Anaesthetist was in the general day procedure area of the hospital rather than the BFPL Big Fat Pregnant Ladies area so now I'm going to have to get an appointment and hope it's not with the devil woman as they'll need to send it off for proper testing if there is no white blood cells and that's too much like hard work for her, stupid UTI's always show negative on dip sticks >.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 13/01/2015 17:50

Boo my UTI last week showed up neg on dip stick and in the lab, but yet definitely had one and it responded to antibiotics? Why would that be?!! Do you get them a lot? Why are you having to have anesthetic, sorry if it's further up the thread but I got a bit a lot behind.

Got my booking in app tomorrow, hoping midwife might be able to shed some light on why I've been feeling so crap!

lildottie · 13/01/2015 18:10

can someone please enlighten me as to wtf controller crying is/entails?! Hmm

RPopz · 13/01/2015 18:32

"crying it out" lil. Crying themselves to sleep basically.

willywallace · 13/01/2015 18:34

Good luck at booking Essie. Waiting for test results is a pain in the arse.

Trying to decide whether to ask my mum to buy me a ridiculously expensive breast pump. She wants to buy something 'for the baby' but we don't need anything major. In fairness it's cheaper than buying a buggy which she did last time. But it's so much bloody money for a breast pump!

willywallace · 13/01/2015 18:39

CC is slightly different to 'crying it out' in that you have time limits you let them cry for before you go in and re-settle. TBH I don't get all these programs and techniques etc. Surely if you think your baby needs something you deal with it. If you think they'd be better off being left to get some sleep then do that. I worry people can't use instinct anymore and are scared to do anything without checking it's 'right'.

RPopz · 13/01/2015 19:03

Which pump are you looking at Wil?

TheBooMonster · 13/01/2015 19:10

essie I have had one already this pregnancy that I thought was just painful whatsit hicks so ignored for almost a week before I was in so much pain I couldn't stand and then got put on bedrest, showed up negative on the test but my urine sample was swimming in white blood cells, I had one a few years ago and was hospitalised for 3 days on morphine before they actually sent my sample for proper testing, turns out the suspected appendicitis was a UTI!

I have Hypermobility syndrome / HEDS which is a connective tissue disorder, the ligaments on my joints are weak, so everything bends too far, and I dislocate, makes for some pretty stupid, ill-advised cool party tricks! But one of the many fun things that comes with it is I might have issues with local anaesthetic, I've pretty much only ever gone under general previously, so they don't know how things like epidurals and spinal blocks will work, and won't know till they try pretty much. I also heal slower so need deeper stitches that stay in longer and there is a risk that my cervix will weaken early and I'll go into premature labour.

willywallace · 13/01/2015 19:10

Medela freestyle. It's ridiculous isn't it? Probably would be justifiable if I wanted more babies...

TheBooMonster · 13/01/2015 19:15

Wil is the freestyle an open or closed system pump? not much of an issue if you don't plan on reusing it or reselling it, but the open pump systems can get milk inside the pump sec I'll dig out a suitably yuck blog post (not mine I promise) about it mythnomore.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/why-you-shouldnt-buy-sell-or-borrow.html

Fleurchamp · 13/01/2015 19:30

Wow boo I am completely baffled Confused

willywallace · 13/01/2015 19:38

I think really the only ones that are truly closed are the hospital grade ones. Do you think I can't use the one I used last time then?

TheBooMonster · 13/01/2015 19:40

lol fleur if it helps I've gone for the Ardo Calypso, had the Medela mini double last time (only used it for a couple of months though as it was a bit pants and definitely not designed for exclusively expressing) and I've been meaning to take it apart like in the above blog post but haven't had a chance yet.

TheBooMonster · 13/01/2015 19:43

wil I honestly don't know, I assume that no baby has ever died from a second hand / second time round pump, else it'd be all over the internet, as it is I was directed to that post by a breastfeeding consultant (think that's the word) elsewhere a few months ago else I'd never have even found it, and as I don't have much to spend out on this time I've decided I'd have better peace of mind if I go for a new pump.

Pisghetti · 13/01/2015 19:51

Wil I've just bought the Phillips Avent single electric memory pump which is a Which best buy and gets good reviews on here too. I got in on sale from here

willywallace · 13/01/2015 19:53

Yeah I was thinking that too. The one mentioned in that blog sounds good and it's less than half the price of the medela. My friend has the medela and absolutely raves about it but it's just so pricey.

willywallace · 13/01/2015 19:58

I had the Avent last time and it was totally fine until towards the end of bf when I just couldn't get anything out. That could have been my supply to blame though, I really don't know. It did take quite a while though. My friend says she is five to ten minutes with this one and she gets loads.

ChatEnOeuf · 13/01/2015 20:00

We have a Medela Swing from last time around, works like a dream if you dream about being in a jersey cow farm.

Boo I'm hypermobile too - Classical EDS. I can confirm epidurals are excellent (had one post spinal surgery) but that local anaesthetic is a bigger issue. For me, I need twice the dose and twice the time my dentist thinks I'm a PITA. My advice is to cross your legs when it comes to suturing - if they still think you need it once they've prised them apart, the local should have taken by then. The fragility of my skin means stitches often do more damage than good, but needle-happy obstetric trainees are difficult to persuade. Cervical scan today showed it's not shortening prematurely which is a big relief :)

Lauren! Oh my...what are they doing with scissors that can cut stuff?!
