Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 19th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 36th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal clubs here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates! It's a bit quiet at the moment, but with all these upduffed viroids hopefully it won't be for long!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

So, roll call below please, viroids!

Hi viroids, ugh I'm one of them desperate to leave ASAP after birth boo. I was in hospital for 10 days with DS & it was pure hell - mainly Brcause I couldn't get any sleep due to noise/heat & found it v hard/lonely without my partner there to help in the night. Though yes, it was useful to have breast feeding advice for the first week. Any tips for good gentle exercise to do viroids? I do a weekly Pilates class but feel I need to do more to get fit, my back & pelvis are starting to feel creaky & sore. Might try & do regular swimming. I sit at a desk all day which doesn't help.

TheBooMonster · 07/01/2015 19:18

kato The staff were pretty impatient with me especially when I pointed out that I couldn't walk to the loo because my blood-loss made me dizzy every time I sat up, but I don't mind the food, found the electric bed pretty damned handy, and had no real issue with other new mummies and strangers seeing me what a boob out, but the ward staff were pretty good about keeping visitors down to about three or four, and DH was no more helpful once I was home than he was on the ward and don't even get me started on how much of a pain he was once we were trapped in a private room for 5 days on return

ZylaB · 07/01/2015 20:13

Ok,,I'm fretting less now DH is home. I'll chat to mw tomorrow. Maybe I shouldn't be left to fret! Lol, maybe I'll follow him to work ;)

RPopz · 07/01/2015 20:25

I stayed in 2 nights Boo and that was enough. The ward was boiling, noisy, lights were on all night, buzzers going off all day and night, staff hardly ever remembered to bring round painkillers, food was pretty terrible etc etc! Partners could stay 9-9 but the night time was pretty lonely. That said, I wouldn't have wanted to leave straight away even if I could as I needed help and reassurance with the feeding at first, think I would've gone to pieces with it if I'd gone home same day. Smile And it was nice to be forced to rest and be brought cups of tea. And the rice pudding was so shit it was good Grin

RPopz · 07/01/2015 20:25

Hope you're ok Zyla x

KatoPotato · 07/01/2015 20:26

I got my electric bed taken away when I went for my first shower! Taking my own pillows this time and ready and fit for narky nurses!

ZylaB · 07/01/2015 20:30

I'm ok popz thanks, I just need to chill out! And after they say my urine is out tomorrow I'm sure I will :p

ZylaB · 07/01/2015 20:31

*urine is ok, not out

willywallace · 07/01/2015 20:36

Jesus Kato, was that the Royal? Sounds shocking.

I was in for two nights afterwards. Agree the reality isn't as good as the thought of it. Hot and the thing with not turning lights down?! Surely recovering people need sleep? In an ideal world I'd want to stay in though.

Phoned mw earlier as hadn't felt baby for hours. She told me to eat something and lie down to see if it helped which it has but I feel doubly awful after eating. Must have some kind of tummy bug.

ChatEnOeuf · 07/01/2015 20:38

Not the only one, Boo. I got 48 hrs with DD because I was on oramorph the whole of the first 24 hours, I would have taken a third day but they were rammed and needed my bed. I was in a side room though - makes a big difference. Over here a four-day stay is standard and I'm glad - I want to be sure my milk is in and I can walk unaided before going home.

KatoPotato · 07/01/2015 20:40

is was indeed the royal, the very week the queen mums shut down so staff had been sent there and neither the new or old staff were very pleased! I had one lovely me who told me to bf DS to sleep then buzz her and shed transfer him to his crib after I'd had three nights with no sleep. When he got to sleep I buzzed and was stormed up to by an old zoomer who was incredulous at my obviously princess behaviour and told me I'd do it myself like everyone else here!

WigglyBraddins · 07/01/2015 20:46

Evening viroids

I was desperate to get home with DS because I just couldn't relax in hospital and I found sleeping there really hard. Also it was a heat wave but the heating was jammed on! I was very grateful to the student midwife who helped me with bfing tho so it was worth staying in to see her. Unfortunately I was readmitted on my birthday when DS was 5 days old because of my trashed pelvic floor. At least the nurses let my husband bring me fish and chips and told me where their secret stash of salt, vinegar and ketchup was.

Quick question...probably mostly for chat...

DH and I are planning to pack DS off to the inlaws and have a last child-free mini break for the forseeable future in April. We're looking at Eurostar to Bruges for 3 nights. Any thoughts?

la I know this is from aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago, but what did MN secret santa give you?

willywallace · 07/01/2015 20:59

My friend had a terrible experience there too Kato.

cookielove · 07/01/2015 21:07

I was in hospital for 3 nights and 4 days, the first 2 nights and 2 days I was in a labour room attached to a drip to stop me contracting left on my back the whole time and only allowed to get up to pee. Although it was boring e.t.c I was in my own room and woken every frigging hr having my vitals checked so not to bad. The 3rd day I was released from the bed where I quickly went into labour I had him at 11.30pm and was taken up to the ward in the wee hours of the morning where I was left exhausted and in complete agony. The did however turn off the lights and dh was allowed to stay (although the midwives made him feel very uncomfortable) I discharged myself when I woke and went home to my ridiculously comfy bed. Unfortunately I left my baby at hospital in the nicu for 10 days Sad

I do remember how scared I was when I took him overnight for the first time when he was 7 days old. I had to set my alarm to wake him for his feeds. Would never do that now! Grin

Even though I had a really crappy time in the lead up to his birth and nothing went to plan and I was in loads of pain I would do it all again. He was so worth it!

ZylaB · 07/01/2015 21:10

wil feel better!!

ChatEnOeuf · 07/01/2015 21:18

Widdly what a good idea. Bruges is lush, but the best bits aren't for kids :) Don't miss the museums of chips and chocolate, or the brewery Halve Man (?sp) - home of the Bruges Zot beer. Delicious. You may find three days there is plenty, there's certainly enough good restaurants to keep you amused. But if you want a day trip, Ghent is not too far (easy on the trains if you avoid a national strike Angry ), and is possibly even more beautiful. Or, there's the beach near Oostend (very cool tramline along the coast); or you could come to Brussels and I'll show you the best chocolate factory shop and only place in town that sells alcohol free cherry beer Grin

WigglyBraddins · 07/01/2015 21:23

Ah chat that is so helpful and kind Smile! I will mention to DH (he is in charge of booking stuffe) and report back.

laurenamium · 07/01/2015 21:49

zyla definitely ring mw or the ward for a chat if you're worrying! Better safe than sorry, especially if you're more at risk with it because of the diabetes!

I had an awful stay in for 5 nights with DD too. Hell on earth for all of the same reasons other posters have given!

I seem to have got rid of my water retention Grin my ring is spinning again and I don't feel as puffy! Small victories Grin

teejayem · 07/01/2015 22:19

eek, I'd not even thought about the hospital stay. I can't say I'm a fan, the last time I had to stay in one was after a ruptured appendix and many, many delicious complications. I was in for just over two weeks ... I was 19 with bright pink hair, and I really think the nurses hated me.. Was literally climbing the walls in the end and my mum was smuggling me in marks and Spencer's picnic food. This is not evoking good memories! To be fair it's a different hospital and the unit I'll be going to is all quite new and shiny.

I'm guessing that the more you have from the drugs menu the longer they keep you? I'm quite keen on the idea of a mobile epidural, (although am seeing anaesthetist to discuss feasibility in March) but if it means I'm consigned to the ward for ages then I might need a rethink.

Hope you're okay zyla

How's the tummy wil?

splodge77 · 07/01/2015 22:20

Gah I'm sorry to hear of all these horrid postnatal experiences - there was a mega thread on mumsnet about bad postnatal care. wish mumsnet would do a campaign about it or something. At very least I'd say what most postnatal wards need is some more walls built! Ie: more private rooms. It's really harsh to be kept awake by other peoples babies as well as your own all when u r trying to recover from the most knackering business of your life (giving birth!) Ah well, it's all worth it in the end, had a lovely day off with my DS today. Can't believe he starts school this year wahhh! I can't hack it.

MrsNM · 07/01/2015 23:03

Hi everyone, really hope you don't mind me pushing my way in over here.
I've been a long time lurker who has creepily followed all of your stories right through from the JS fred.
I've been silently sharing your ups and downs over the 12 months and finally, now I'm 24 weeks pregnant feel brave enough to step out the shadows and show myself!
So I really hope you don't mind if I join you all and I hope I don't come across as too stalkerish Grin

TheBooMonster · 07/01/2015 23:05

welcome MrsNM lovely to have you with us and congratulations!

MrsNM · 07/01/2015 23:11

Thank you so much Boo Smile

lildottie · 07/01/2015 23:33

I know I'm not even pg yet but I plan to stay in hours, not days, no one is coming near me with anything more than gas and air, and especially not an epidural. I figure my mum has done it 5times naturally with just gas and air, 2in her own bed at home, so (assuming I don't have complications of course) she will be more than adequate help with bf etc when I get home. I have planned it this way since those 2home births mum had! I hate being away from home, especially in hospital, and the last time my mum was in our local one the care was so bad I refused to go home and leave her so slept in the chair next to her. nurses were cows to me at first but I soon put them in their place and made it clear I was appalled with them and going nowhere. then they bought me tea and biscuits!

Essie I hope the infection clears up soon. sounds like its going in the right direction.

zyla if you're worried definitely phone someone. better to be a nuisance than regret not listening to yourself/your body. did sil reply?

oh yes la I'd forgotten about your ss nomination. what did u get?

hi mrsnm you must have been lurking for a long time! belated congrats on your bfp! how long were you ttc? any other DCs or is this no1?

didn't get home from work until 8pm. I have brain ache!

MrsNM · 07/01/2015 23:41

Thank you! Smile I certainly have but have always wimped out of joining you for fear of jinxing something, silly I know.. This is baby number one for me and according to scan is a boy! We were ttc for around 12 months, not long at all in the scheme of things, but caught on the month I'd given up all hope and convinced myself it wasn't going to happen!
