Am going to just keep my fingers crossed about stretchmarks then! My mum has loads but she was tiny when she got pregnant (and fairly young) and also had twins who were massive. She can't remember if she got stretchmarks from her first pregnancy with me...

longestlurkerever · 22/01/2015 15:17

Afraid I got quite a lot of stretch marks with dd, though not till late on and I was using that oil stuff religiously so haven't bothered this time. Also a varicose vein in my leg -yuk. Overall I ended up more respectful of my body after pregnancy though. It is strong and capable of amazing things. I also ended up lighter after bfing than I was before I got pregnant, though I put it back on and some with the stress of ttc dc2.

My belly button is already looking quite outy but it is borderline at the best of times!

I have seen a lot of sonographers now and have to say a disproportionate number have been blunt and defensive. I have decided to take the charitable view tgat it's probably quite a stressful job as they may have to give someone bad news.

plinkyplonks · 22/01/2015 15:42

No stretch marks yet - but my sister and mum both got them so its only a matter of time :'(

Btw: is anyone considering getting a SnuzPod? SnuzPod and Mattress comes in at £179

www.nctshop.co.uk/SnuzPod-3-in-1-Bedside-Crib/productinfo/4374/

along with this:

www.nctshop.co.uk/Organic-4-Piece-Bedding-Set-for-Cribs/productinfo/1231BSC/

It's cheaper to buy the the mattress and cot set and bedding separately (saves £8 on NCT member price and £13 on non member price!)

So all in all under £222 for everything. It's a lot of money but i do like the idea of being face to face with baby rather than to get up and go to the cot all the time. But considering its only going to be in use for 6 months i'm not sure :/

Racheyg · 22/01/2015 16:15

My tummy looks like a aa road map Grin

I'm prob worrying over nothing, I think I was more upset that the scan didn't seem as clear.

longestlurkerever · 22/01/2015 16:16

Plinky it looks nice but I already have a cot and moses basket so don't think I can justify the extra cost. Can it be got cheaper on ebay or similar?

Threesoundslikealot · 22/01/2015 16:29

Plinky, think about this.

www.nctshop.co.uk/Arms-Reach-Universal-Co-Sleeper-Bedside-Cot/productinfo/4367/?gclid=CjwKEAiA3IKmBRDFx-P_rLyt6QUSJACqiAN8aecpFkRhocSvQxOEfZo-64sZdD11vo-i7WUCK1amyBoC9JHw_wcB

It costs more but you can use it for the same amount of time as any other full size cot, and also as a travel cot and normal four-sided cot. So it works out pretty good value. You also find them secondhand.

plinkyplonks · 22/01/2015 16:56

Thanks three will take a look :D

shinyhappyone · 22/01/2015 17:27

Plinky, I have hired a bed nest for 6 months instead of buying one. They are flexible on delivery and it comes with brand new mattress and sheets. In total it's going to cost £99, which I think is a special deal in their website at the moment. Buying one of those as well as a cotbed was just a bit too much for us so the hiring option suits us xx

Yup we ordered it a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to have him right next to me!! xx

FeelingBlessed77 · 22/01/2015 18:39

We got one from a friend, quite cheap, all we need is a new matress and we are sorted.

kittiker · 22/01/2015 20:57

I got a Snuzpod, too. My lovely mum bought it for us. It was £179 with the mattress, I think, and I'm just going to get bog standard sheets and things. I figured if we have another baby, it works out at less than the cost of two hires from NCT plus they resell quite well on Ebay.

shinyhappyone · 22/01/2015 21:47

I found this when we were deciding what to get m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pqr9IsSGD8c
As both our families live more than 150 miles away, we travel a fair amount so the ease of transporting the bednest appealed to us xx

Blondie87 · 22/01/2015 21:49

The Snuzpod is our next purchase! Love the notion of having baby so close at night

Kyz · 22/01/2015 21:52

Evening all :) The baby must've been in an awkward place this afternoon because for a few hours I felt like I needed to go for a wee to the point of it hurting but I didn't actually need a wee at all! It was a right pain and really uncomfortable! Thankfully he's moved now!

piglet mine is still as it was, but perhaps looking ever so slightly stretched these days!

ginger that sounds like a fab appointment :) My DS used to kick the home doppler I had. I used to use it all the time but haven't used it with this one.

Is anyone else constantly hungry or is it just me?

this lanisoh sounds like magical stuff!

I got stretch marks last time but not until the last few weeks. I hadn't had any before at all, and my belly wasn't badly affected but my hips and thighs were.

sorry you've been made to feel rubbish rachey but i'm sure baby is ok and is just playing silly beggars! My ds used to do that at every single scan, and I had alot (the nhs ones then a private scan package). I had to go for a walk or reschedule every single scan with him! Monkey he was (and still is!)

plinky thanks for the links, i've got my eye on the snuz pod if we can afford it - trying to justify the cost as we have a moses basket and crib from ds

will look at that one too thanks three

Hey all,
Omg I ache all over!! Open evening tonight, 3 hours on my feet after teaching all day as well...definitely looking forward to bed !! Just caught up on today's postings!!
Belly button....mine is still in but is going flatter and I really hate the idea of an outie....
Stretch marks...well I think I'm screwed as have got some from when was bigger and lost weight so I expect will have some with pregnancy too, think mum has them too.
Re snuzpod etc I was looking at them/other ones like them but not sure still and thinking bout just a gliding crib instead as don't think will fit alongside bed (too close to radiator/not enough space by door etc) so would be at foot of bed anyway. I do like the look of them though! It's difficult to work out what will work out best (especially when will only be in for 6 months etc!) and at the same time is going to be big enough etc.

Right I'm off to bed now before I fall asleep, catch up again tomorrow!

gingerfluffball · 22/01/2015 23:58

Plinky I second the arms reach co sleeper, just got mine yesterday! I had been browsing cots for ages and love this one although it doesn't look super pretty, all beige. Baby is so close in bed to you though and they have adjustable legs so you can have the cot at the right height for your mattress. We tried it out in our bedroom (have a low Ikea bed so needed the euro mini cot) and it was great, can't wait to have him in it! You can often get really good deals on eBay/gumtree though from people who've hardly used theirs so worth having a look if you're interested. Plus all the convertible/travel stuff it does.

No stretch marks yet, don't think my mum got them either so am keeping fingers very tightly crossed.

Also had a very curt sonographer at 20 weeks which spoiled it a bit for us, she did say at the end though that she'd had a really difficult scan just beforehand so seems she was carrying that over. Our 12 week scanner was absolutely lovely, she couldn't have been more excited about the baby and pointing out where everything was, so think we were spoiled with our expectations after her.

Am heading to Topshop maternity today to try and buy some decent bump wear (Topshop only just arrived in Perth so v excited about this), sick of having to live in stretchy leggings which I hated pre-pregnancy!

Turquoisetamborine · 23/01/2015 05:32

I've just woken up for the toilet and noticed loads of dishcharge when I wiped so I put the light on and it was tinged pink. Anyone else have this? I did get a couple of pains in my lower bump in the evening. I only just had a scan on Wednesday where my cervix was fine and everything else good.
Worried now.

Justyouwaitandsee · 23/01/2015 05:42

Hi Turquoise - I can't really help with your question, but am awake so wanted to you to know you're not on here alone! I noticed some discharge in the water yesterday though it was white. Have you had any other bleeding? Worth keeping an eye or calling triage/midwife if you're still worried in the morning? I'm sure it will be all be fine xx

Fluffeh · 23/01/2015 06:28

I've not had pink discharge turquoise but I do have increased white discharge - glam! I second calling the midwife just to reassure yourself x

Stretch marks I didn't get at all with dd until my milk came in and my boobs quadrupled in size from an A cup to a D cup over night. They are a B cup now but covered in slug trails.
I'm hoping to avoid any extra ones.
We have a cot bed that we removed a side from to keep dd beside me. It lines up perfectly without bed and gave her so much space too. I only put the side back on when she moved into her own room in August.
It was lovely having morning cuddles engineered by dd even after she was sleeping through.

Turquoisetamborine · 23/01/2015 09:04

I've rang the pregnancy assessment unit and they've said to come down even though I was only there for my scan on Wednesday and I'm feeling lots of movement. I feel a bit silly but better to be safe than sorry.

My H has been off since Wednesday and the house is a tip because I haven't been here as I've been working 12 hours a day. I have started to strip the beds and sort it out but I think I'm just going to stop and leave him to it. I do all the housework and cooking when he's at work so it's not fair. I shouldn't be working a 12 hour day at 24 weeks pregnant then having to sort out a pigsty of a house!

leanne963 · 23/01/2015 09:44

Thinking of you turquoise I'm sure it's nothing!! Let us know how it goes xx

FeelingBlessed77 · 23/01/2015 09:52

Hope everything is ok turquoise.

Chookford · 23/01/2015 10:13

turquoise thinking of you, sure everything is fine, just another one of those things for us to worry about. And too right let your dh sort out the house you take it easy.. He should be offering to help not leaving you to it!
