I have my apt for whooping cough in Feb and I've had my flu jab. I'm very pro jabs for anything I'm offered.

I will breastfeed for at least a week or 2 but I'm not looking at long term bfing again like I did with DS3, I ended up getting so depressed with the whole thing that it made me crazy, I'm going to do it but not put pressure on myself if the going gets tough if that makes sense?!

p.s think some of you were discussing lansinoh nipple cream further up the thread and there is money off all their products in mothercare at the minute.

bradders85 · 24/01/2015 18:38

that makes sense tits I'd like to give a go but not going to kill myself in the process - I'm quite laid back about most things so hope I will be about this too!

I would never contemplate not vaccinating but it's very overloaded here. No other country does them in such quick succession! We paid for the chicken pox vaccine as well. I see no reason for them to suffer these things unnecessarily. Though she was pretty ill after MMR.

On the feeding front I highly recommend having the aptimal starter pack at home. Four ready to go pre sterilised bottles of formula. I wanted to BF and did successfully but she made a slow start and this stuff is invaluable. People give you loads of advice when pregnant. Most can be disregarded but my SIL said the shops don't shut just because you've had a baby. This is good advice! You can get anything you need as you go forward.

I want to BF again. Mainly because it's free and I lost my weight. Nice solid selfish reasons!!

plinkyplonks · 24/01/2015 19:01

Flu jab - got that done but had a bad reaction to it (flu like symptoms for a fortnight after).

Whooping cough jab - haven't been offered it and it hasn't been mentioned to me so far.

Strep B - been getting lots of discharge and reoccurring thrush so will be asking for a strep b test at 28 week midwife appointment and will be probably paying privately for a test closer to the time.

Baby vaccines - really not fussed on MMR but will need to read into each jab, what the possible complications are and make an informed decision closer to the time.

Breast feeding - I am planning to try breast feeding. NCT course has two bloody sessions on it and already feeling enormous pressure to succeed at it. That said, I have bought the Tommee Tippee essentials set and I am not going to punish myself if breast feeding doesn't work out for me, so I have got a back up bottle set and will be getting formula just in case. :)

Chookford · 24/01/2015 19:12

cup sorry to hear you have had such a bad experience at JL normally their customwe service is brilliant. Hope you get it all sorted soon!

Thanks for reminding me about whopping cough vaccine! Had totally forgot!! Blush

I breastfed my dd for 6wks then stopped as really struggled will try again this time but have too bought the tommee tippee starter kit incase it doesn't work out.

mumxof3x · 24/01/2015 19:19

Wow missed loadsa while ive had no net.

Turquoise glad you and baby are ok.

Stretchmarks, I got some on my hips with ds1 as I gained 4st going from 7And half stone to 11 and half, i didnt get any with ds2&3, havnt got any so far yet.

What an eventful week, dad finally knows, had bitchy auntys been well just that, got a virus, blood pressure been up and down and heart rate doubling few times a day. But a good, end to the week...i have got a place on a training course to be a breast feeding support peer worker yay :D

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

KittyVonCatsington · 24/01/2015 19:41

At least your Dad knows now xmumx -but sorry about your virus and bitchy aunt!

My MW entwined that the whooping cough jab would be be booked at the 28 week appointment so assume will have it around then.

Kitlet will have every vaccine offered! Will give breast feeding a go and will have a Doula with me to help if needed. However will also have formula on standby and have no qualms about using it Grin

Pregnancy moan alert! Two nights in a row now, I have finally found it uncomfortable to sleep in bed-even with a pregnancy pillow. Oh, it's going to be a fun three months!!!

KittyVonCatsington · 24/01/2015 19:43

Entwined Hmm I meant implied!!

Yes to hips tori. I get that a bit anyway but is getting worse.

I am pro vaccine. Dd was fine after all of hers apart from the 12 week jabs when she needed school but was fine after that. Mmr was fine, as was bcg, which they give here at 6 weeks as it's a high risk area. She does have a scar from that one though.

Great news re course mum! When will you start that? Hope your dad was ok, even if your aunt was a cowbag.

Racheyg · 24/01/2015 20:29

It's so nice to hear mums being honest with breast feeding. I struggled as ds would only feed on right breast (3 hv and mw tried) I lasted 3 months and beat myself up about it. I really want to bf this time but I have my dr Browns on stand by x

longestlurkerever · 24/01/2015 20:38

Calpol, not school. Calpol is magic stuff.

Bfing worked for me and I hope to do it again. I didn't love it though. Was talking with some friends today and they all genuinely lived it but it was a means to an end for me and I was pleased to stop when when I did (7 months in the day as was going back to work, 13 months at night). Would rather have a no strings attached cuddle really but I found it less faff than scolding myself on bottles dd wouldn't drink.

Turquoisetamborine · 24/01/2015 20:46

Been to PAU as had more brown spotting and my mam's friend who is a midwife said she couldn't believe they didn't examine me internally yesterday. I've got a cervical erosion which is a relief. It will have no impact on the baby and it's just because there's so much more blood circulating at the moment.
I'm so pleased baby is fine and I can now relax.

I will breastfeed again but am under no illusions that it is easy. I did find it a lot easier than making up formula and sterilising though especially during the night. If we go out and leave baby I will leave his babysitter with the ready made formula cartons. I'm not messing around pumping, it takes so long. Your supply soon adjusts. I think pumping made me miserable much more than bfing ever did.

longestlurkerever · 24/01/2015 21:04

That's good news turquoise. Yes, pumping is miserable. Made me feel like a dairy cow. Some people manage fine with it though. My friend pumped every feed for 8 months. No idea how she did it.

mumxof3x · 24/01/2015 21:07

Longest, I am meant to start a week on monday but I have to miss the first one due to been in london that day so start the week after it will finish when I am 37 weeks.

Turquoise thats such a relief, I was diagnosed with a cervical errosion with ds2, apparantly its still there but it never really bleeds anymore. Take it easy :)

Thankyou kitty, hes not talking to me at the moment but I expected that so just giving him some space.

Bad hips here too and sciatica, done well to get this far though after starting at 14wk with ds3. Its ouchy.

I will try and breastfeed but I dont know how it will go, ds2 was a very hungry baby and would be on an hour and ds3 struggled to latch as he has lip tie and tounge tie, so after a week of him losing weight (going from 6ib 13.5oz to 6ib 1 I decided it was best to switch him to formula

plinkyplonks · 24/01/2015 21:37

Turquoisetamborine Glad to hear all is well!

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to alleviate backache? I haven't been sleeping right for the last few days, desperate for a good night's sleep but between the backache and baby kicks that's been impossible :(

Just made myself some of this fudge to cheer me up:

leanne963 · 24/01/2015 21:38

Oh tori yes! I wake up every few hours and whatever hip I have been lying on feels like I have been sleeping on concrete! Really hurts doesn't it?!

Aw turquoise that is such a relief. Happy to hear things are ok!!!

Chookford · 24/01/2015 21:46

turquoise so glad to hear everything is ok.... Must be such a relief!

kittiker · 24/01/2015 22:29

Turquoise - delighted to hear this

DH has developed baby brain. He lost my bank card last week and yesterday took my car, house and work keys and my packed lunch with him to his work! Good job I'm currently free of pregnancy rage.

applecore0317 · 25/01/2015 07:23

Sorry you had such a rubbish experience in JL cuphat hope you get it sorted! Re the shoes, cant help there, I was the same when I was little and my Mum had to get me shoes with a special instep in them, and now I still have a nightmare with shoes, I have an extremely high arch and small feet that are wide. So I feel your pain with it

Great news Turquoise really pleased that you know whats causing it :) and that its nothing to be concerned about

sorry you're having a crappy week mumof3 hope it gets better

leanne same with the need to pee, sometimes a few mins after I've just been lol

Tori I get the hip pain too, I alternate between sleeping kind of upright on my back and then on my left side, sleeping on concrete is definitely the right term, feels like when I've slept on the floor camping...

I'm feeling rubbish, in the last 25 days I have had a sickness bug and two colds, feel like the sikness bug just whacked my immune system right down because have had nothing up until then. So have a horrible tickly dry cough and can't have any medicine for it, which means I am feeling pathetic lol

applecore0317 · 25/01/2015 07:29

Plinky do you do yoga? It's great for bad backs. As far as comfortable sleeping goes I currently surround myself with pillows to make it slightly more bearable. Back aches horrible though, would recommend a bath before bed and maybe getting your partner to give you a back rub

applecore0317 · 25/01/2015 07:30

my pillows lol
